| Welcome to The United Literates, or TUL! We hope you enjoy your visit! We're one of the largest all-genre, all-literate forums on the Zathyrus Networks, and we'd love to have you join! Our roleplays range from the fun to the mature, and are all member-run and created, extending from Fictional roleplays set in the past and future, to Real-Life and Fan-Fiction categories. In addition to roleplays, TUL also has a vibrant community of artists and writers, featured in The Cafe section of the website, who also love to do things out of character through our Lounge area. Right now, you're viewing the forum as a guest, which means you only have limited access to the board and it's features. To join TUL and start roleplaying with us, all you have to do is click the link below, register, and pass through our applications process. So what are you waiting for? Welcome to TUL and register today! If you're already a member please log in to your account to access all of our features: |

Hey there, TUL, it's been quite a while. The last time we gathered like this, or, relatively gathered, it was so that I could tell you that we were finally moving to the upgraded Zetaboards software. I can finally tell you that we have. You may have noticed it as soon as you came on, that the shapes of the forum look a bit different, that your PMs are no longer where they used to be, or you may just be realizing it now as you look around this topic or your own roleplays. But, change has come, and we will be moving with it. Zetaboards is crazy - it's different, it's got new buttons to press and items to customize, and a completely revamped set of configurations. Because of all the insanity around it, I'll have to ask you to bear with us if anything seems to be going wrong on the site - be it a problem with a signature, or some weirdness in the layout of the board. If you spot anything, please PM a staff member immediately, because we may not have caught the mistake ourselves. As for now, I encourage you to be crazy, fun, and creative - the new User Control Panel is fun to play around in, and you can do a great deal more things with ZB than with the original InvisionFree software, some of which you'll start to see introduced as the days go on. Now, we move on to the harder part of upgrading - the entire NEWness of it all. It's confusing, so I've put together a guide of sorts to help you with any general questions you may have about the software. If you ARE having problems, I ask you to please skim through the Troubleshooting guide below before asking a question in Shout-Out! And so we go. locke|administrator |

The TUL.zb Guide Section I: User Control Panel Where is it? The User Control Panel is now called Preferences, and can be accessed by going to the top-right corner of the page and clicking the Preferences button there. It will bring you to the front page of the UCP. Signatures Having trouble with signatures? The most common problem here is that colors, sizes, and images just aren't showing up right - and it's pretty easy to fix. When TUL updated to Zetaboards, we also received the completely-new BBCode list - and the transfer caused a few items to 'overlap'. If you're having trouble either with having items be shown via the BBCode or have BBCode floating in your signature, double-check the layout of your signatures and make sure that you have no extra code left over - no [open] without a [/closed]. If this does not work, attempt to re-do the code within the signature, as some of it may be outdated, and use the Full BBCode List at the top of the text box as a guide. If this, too, does not work, then refer to the 'Still Troubled?' section of this guide. Avatars Avatars not appearing? Uploaded but mysteriously disappeared? While this is a pretty rare problem, even just after the transfer, it can still happen to YOU. Luckily, however, it can be fixed with little problem. If you chose an avatar from the 'avatar gallery' on the old TUL or perhaps used a URL, you may have to choose a different avatar (the gallery does NOT contain the same pictures) or simply repost the URL to the image in the User Control Panel If, however, you uploaded your avatar, it may have been corrupted during the transfer - and this may render it unable to be saved. If you wish to upload a new avatar, simply PM Locke and he will immediately clear out the old avatar to make room for whatever avatar you choose to upload. Should these still not be solutions, please refer to the 'Still Troubled?' section of this guide. Change Signature/Change Avatar To change or update your avatar or signature on TUL.zb, you simply have to click the Preferences button in the top-right of the page. Once the page loads, click on either Change Avatar or Change Signature, both located under the Profile Options heading on the right side of the page. Change Profile Need to change a location? An AIM/MSN screen name? Then all you have to do is click the Preferences button in the top-right of the page, then click 'Update Profile' under the Profile Options heading on the right side of the page. Here, you can even answer questions that show up in your profile (optional, of course) - including your current location and even your Internet browser. |

Section II: The New Stuff Blogging That's right - Zetaboards has introduced the ability for each member to have their own blogs on the site itself. How do you access blogs - or even make your own? Let us walk you through: To create your own blog, you have to click the Preferences button in the topic right of the page, and then click the My Blog link under the Profile Options section on the right side of the page. Once there, you'll find yourself on the Blog Setup page. Type in all the necessary info (and, please, be original when you make a blog title - this IS a site for the arts, after all) and click Submit. This will bring you to a blank page - the beginning of your blog. From here, it can be about whatever it is you like, hate, want to rant about. In order to create a post, though, all you have to do is click the 'Post New Blog Entry' link in the left, just under your avatar, and it will bring you to a page very similar to the posting page on TUL. As for privacy purposes, you can choose to make your blog open to all, open to just TUL members, or just as a private diary. With any luck, we'll add more features to the blogging item, and I hope we'll get good use out of it. Name Changes! Gone forever are the days of endless waiting for a name change, gone forever the days of annoyance and naming troubles! Zetaboards includes one (thank God, ZB has made some things a lot easier) new feature that allows members to request a name change through the site. The request bounces to me, and all I have to do is approve it. No endless waiting, no post requirements - just one name change a month. To apply for a name change, all you need to do is go to that infamous Preferences button in the top right-hand corner of the page, and find the Change Username link under the Board Controls section of the page. Click on that, simply type the new username in, and hit submit. Your request will be process within a day. |

What's that? Still troubled? We understand - if our guide hasn't taken care of your question, you're welcome to post in the Shout-Out! topic specifically designed for this: the Support Machine topic, located here. Alternatively - and especially if your problem needs immediate attention - you're welcome to PM me, and I'll respond the moment I receive it. Questions or comments? I direct you to the Shout-Out! or my PM box - this topic is currently closed, with posting disabled. |
