Certified Reviewer Guide
Cafe Review Rules, Part 2

For the most part, you've been a reviewer for quite a long time if you need to read this. You've applied, and been approved, to review the upper level works - and for the most part, reviews from you on lower Category works are seen as something earned. Since all of the other reviewer rules are just a review (and since you've already been briefed on how to run the upper-level Reviews), we'll cut right to the chase and get started.

Quote:

Category 5: Extreme Hurricane
Because of how the system works, you must be certain that a member who requests a review in this category has at least 3 Cat. 3+ reviews already. Once you've certified the work for the level, it's time to take it up a notch. Category 5 reviews are expected to be full-on mean - at this point, you no longer even attempt to be nice. Mention when you're impressed, but emphasize on what's wrong, why it's wrong, and how to make it better. In essence, tear their works apart and nitpick everything you can. Give them a review a publisher would be proud of.

Category 6: Inconceivable Hurricane
Category 6 - and the reviews that deserve one - are extremely special, and therefore have more intense rules. In order to be eligible for a Category 6 review, a piece absolutely must have at least one (1) Category 5 review about it - and even then, you are welcome to reject the piece. At this level, you must be brutal. Write paragraphs on the piece, and pick out every little detail you can. You're prepping them for a publisher or a distributor, so it's your job to ensure that they're as tough-skinned as possible. It's also noted that Category 6 is only meant for emergencies - so it's preferable that you reserve the Category 6 review for a very deserving piece.[/color]

Be reminded that even though the act not following these rules (except for our plagiarism rule) does not have any particularly
bad consequences, as always, your actions here can deeply affect your Karma.

Thank you,
