Well, it looks like the end of a decade is upon us - and what a wild ride it's been. From the tragedies of 9/11, Katrina, and Mumbai, to the global economic slow-down, and to the creation of TUL itself, the double-oh's pass with a great deal left behind. It's been crazy, fun, sad, and downright insane - but for many of us, they were the years we discovered ourselves and our talents, the years we grew up in, the years of our generation. We are older, stronger, and hopeful; but we are also not as optimistic as our predecessors. We have passed through a time of great terror and great sadness - and there is still more to follow. We have passed through a time of greed and false promises, where those who were supposed to handle our money with the greatest of care often treated it as a plaything, if not stealing it outright.

And yet, we have hope. We believe in our own abilities, in our own capabilities, and in our talents. We recognized our mistakes, and though we might believe that the good times will roll once more, we also recognize that the bulk of these mistakes will be paid for by our generation, and we resolve to do what we must to fix them. So, while the 00's will be a time of tragedy, of sadness, we see it as a testament, a lesson, in humanity's dark side - and thus, we must make the 10's a testament to humanity's ability to overcome. And this is something we alone can do.

That isn't to say these years haven't been great as well. For these are the years in which we discovered the Internet - and TUL. An entire new culture, born free of borders, born in just a few short years. These are the years we've grown up in, the years we made friends we'll keep forever, and the years in which some of us (finally) got off to college.

With high hopes, but realism, I - and the rest of the TUL Crew - wish you a very Happy New Year, and a good one it will be! Cheers, and have a happy holiday, guys.
