It's that time again guys, where we rank our big films of the previous year. Same rules as last time, which were whatever appears the most+Has the highest points, appears on the list. This'll be a Top 10 this year so lets have fun! My list is- 10. The Imitation Game-1 point The story of Alan Turing, inventor of the computer, and how he broke the Nazi code, plus his struggles towards the end of his life before his unfortunate suicide, The Imitation Game has a gorgeous score and great acting by its cast. 9. Edge of Tomorrow-2 points Groundhogs Day meets Independence Day. Edge of Tomorrow was much better then expected and a great return to form for Tom Cruise, delivering the excitement and being a nice and somewhat original blockbuster in a sea of franchise films. 8. Dawn of The Planet of The Apes-3 points The sequel to 2011's Rise of The Planet of The Apes, Dawn continues the story of Caesar and shows that not just humans can be evil. Dawn continues the great themes of its predecessor, but ups the ante and keeps the amazing VFX work from Rise. 7. X-Men: Days of Future Past-4 points The merging of the two X-Men franchise's points, First Class and the originals, DoFP delivers a stunning script helped by an amazing score with incredible jobs done by all of the cast. 6. Whiplash-5 points Wow what a film. By far the most intense film of the year, Miles Teller and JK Simmons do phemoninal jobs as Whiplash tells the story of one guy's drive to be the best, no matter the cost. 5. Godzilla-6 points ![]() A true return to form for the king, with amazing direction and a great script. By far the best reboot/remake in ages. 4. Boyhood-7 points ![]() The story of one boy growing up in Texas. Filmed over 12 years, Boyhood tells an amazingly relatable story which encompasses the early part of life itself. 3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier-8 points ![]() How much surveilance is too much? That's the question Cap: TWS poses and answers, as it continues to examine our main character, while posing its own thought provoking questions. Plus dat tweest. 2. Interstellar-9 points ![]() An amazing science fiction film, that analyzes love and loss plus the bonds between a father and his children, all helped by the mindblowing special effects, Interstellar is truly gorgeous. 1. Selma-10 points ![]() The embodiment of the struggle of Martin Luther King Jr's desire for freedom for his race. A amazing biopic story of his drive and desire for something so simple as freedom. Selma is my best film of the year. Edited by Siegzilla, Mar 3 2015, 04:27 AM.

10. Big Hero 6. 1 Points. ![]() Disney does it once again and this time while exploring new unfamiliar territory as they take to the superhero genre. A fun and heartfelt film that explores a wide variety of themes such as healing from loss, revenge and friendship. Big Hero 6 makes you quickly fall in love with it's cast and makes you want to see much more of them. 9. American Sniper. 2 Points. There's no denying that Chris Kyle is a very controversial figure. But for me American Sniper wasn't the story of a man, it told the story of a war. The Iraq War is a major event in modern US history as part of the global War on Terror a conflict that has been fought since I was 5 years old. American Sniper for me was a emotional retelling of this part of US history form the perspective of a soldier as he struggles with the war and his life on the home front. Some say this film glorify's the war and Chris Kyle, but for me at least this film showed the terror of war and a chilling reminder of it's effects on those involved. 8. The Lego Movie. 3 points ![]() A fun and lovingly made movie, The Lego Movie is a grand tribute to one of my favorite childhood toys. A film with a great sense of humor and fun adventure, I hope to see more children's films like this in the future. 7. Edge of Tomorrow. 4 points Edge of Tomorrow marks a return of the Military Sci-Fi genre to the big screen and I could not be happier to see it. A thrilling tale of humanity's last hope against a seemingly unstoppable menace and a fascinating look at the effects of time travel and war. I hope to see more films follow Edge of Tomorrow's example. 6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier. 5 Points Sometimes doing what's right means going against those you thought were your allies. The sequel to one of my favorite MCU films, Captain America TWS is one of the best films yet with it's grand story and heart pounding action. I have to give major credit to the cast and crew for a job well done. 5. Godzilla. 6 Points The King of Monsters has returned and I am more than pleased. Godzilla's return to the big screen was in my opinion a fantastic introduction to a new take on the Godzilla franchise. Amazing visual effects and acting help to piece together a grand story. The Kaiju in the film were extremely well done and I cannot wait for me. 4. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. 7 points A fascinating look at a strange new world, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes quickly draws you in as you witness the challenges facing Caesar as he lead his people while a desperate humanity struggles to survive. The Planet of the Apes franchise continues to entertain and fascinate and I cannot wait for more. 3. Guardians of the Galaxy. 8 Points Guardians of the Galaxy was a fun film, a very fun film. The interactions and character of the Guardians, the wonderful effects and visuals really captured me, reminding me of some of my favorite Sci-Fi films like Star Wars. Guardians of the Galaxy brought a sense of fun and adventure that I found quite charming and thus it earned my place as one of my favorite MCU films. 2. Interstellar. 9 points ![]() It is not hard to argue that Interstellar is a beautiful film, the soundtrack, visuals, acting and story are extremely well done and are a highly welcomed addition to the science fiction genre. When it was first compared to the classic 2001 A Space Odyssey, I was unsure that any film could strive to meet that standard of quality. But Interstellar delivered and I could not be more happy. 1. Fury. 10 Points. As a big fan of the war movie genre, I cannot tell you how pleased I was with Fury. A grim tale of the Second World War from the perspective of the veteran crew of the M4A3E8 Sherman tank 'Fury'. A fascinating tale of the effects of war and an interesting look into the lives of tank crew while at the same time showing a less 'glorious' image of WW2. I welcome Fury as a grand addition to the war movie genre. Edited by TalesofNine, Mar 4 2015, 12:12 AM.

1. Annie (2014) -10 points![]() Annie has been my favorite live action musical since childhood and the main actress (Quvenzhane Wallis) Is absolutely wonderful. If i were making a top ten films of all time this spot just might go to one of her other films Beasts of the Southern Wild which is a wonderful movie that you should all go watch. 2. Interstellar - 9 points ![]() This Movie to best describe my feeling on this film i have to quote good 'ole Shulk. I'm really feeling it. From the space (THE SPACE MAN) to the plot there's not one thing i don't like about this movie... If it wasn't for the ending which I'm not getting into right now. 3. The Grand Budapest hotel -8 points ![]() What can i say its The Grand Budapest Hotel. From the mocumentary esque style to the genuine chemistry between the actors i love this movie. All of that mixed in with a number of really touching scenes lead to me having no complaints. (Other then the fact that i could really go for some Mendles right now.) 4. Captain America: Winter Soldier -7 points ![]() I'm not sure i can give better commentary in addition to the fact that i was bawling in the theater and Falcon is the greatest thing in existence. 5. Big Hero Six - 6 points ![]() Okay two things. One. I. LOVE. DISNEY. two. i love Disney. Big Hero Six was one of the cutest movies this year. Helped by the absolutely adorable Personal Health Assistant Baymax, Honey Lemon and Gogo were the greatest things since sliced bread an i loved all of the dazzling visuals. 6. Fury - 5 points ![]() Fury is not a movie that's easy to swallow, seeing just a glimpse of the horrors that come along with being a tank operator in World War two left my stomach churning in the theater. The main cast were all awesome (Yes even Shia labeouf) but sadly i feel the ending did hurt the film a bit. 7. Guardian of the Galaxy -4 points ![]() Its official step aside Avengers The Guardians of the Galaxy are my favorite super hero team, Between Gamora being amazing and Rocket and Groot being just plain cool the whole team serves up a great movie. It did however get pushed down in this list because of a few problems i had with it, but all in all great movie. 8. The Lego Movie -3 points ![]() This was a feel good family movie, the nicely done cameos combined with an ending i found oddly done but still satisfactory give this movie a solid position on my list. 9. X-Men Days of Future Past -2 points ![]() Quicksilver if AoU Quicksilver disappoints I'm telling you know I'm never gonna shut up about it. Quicksilver alone would earn this movie a spot on this list, but i liked the rest of it too. 10. Godzilla (2014) -1 point ![]() *Rips open shirt* GOJIRA!!! This movie was really good it felt like i was watching the Japanese original. The big guy himself is also super cool looking i hope we get to se more of him in the next movies. (I want to take this moment to say the MUTOs were innocent and didn't deserve what they got.) Edited by Xeky, Mar 3 2015, 05:45 AM.

10. Transformers: Age of Extinction (1 point) I have been a Transformers fan since I was old enough to watch cartoons, and that's why Age of Extinction makes it onto this list. Sure, it's the same old Michael Bay product (explosions good, most other things questionable), but it features badass new versions of my favourite characters. The robot characterization actually improved a great deal from the previous two installments and the action, while underwhelming at certain points, is generally awesome. I don't care what anyone else says--I stand by the robots in disguise. 9. The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (2 points) Expectations were astronomically high for Peter Jackson's swan song to Middle-earth. Unfortunately, The Battle of Five Armies failed to reach this benchmark, but while it isn't stellar, it is still very good. The titular battle is just as grand and thrilling as it should be, and the actors do well bringing their iconic characters to life once more. There were some disappointments, including an underwhelming role for Tauriel and insufficient closure after the fighting's end, but hey, this is still a Jackson-made Tolkien film. 8. Guardians of the Galaxy (3 points) The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made very few missteps en route to realizing it's grand design, and Guardians of the Galaxy is a strong addition to the lineup. What makes this film stand out is it's impeccable blend of humour and action. The characters are eccentric and colourful, while the humour is both gut-busting and well-executed. The visual effects are beautiful and the plot paces itself. Unfortunately, the climax falls flat at a few vital junctures (neither Drax nor Ronan are done justice), but overall, Guardians of the Galaxy redefines the term "action-comedy." 7. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (4 points) Suzanne Collins' dystopian trilogy has been lucky enough to receive three solid film adaptations, with Mockingjay - Part 1 being the latest in that trend. Make no mistake, this movie is no action flick. It is an emotionally charged thriller, and it excels both in translating it's part of the book and on it's own merits. Jennifer Lawrence takes command with a powerful performance, as usual--the strength of her acting alone is enough to carry the whole thing. Fortunately, her supporting cast does well to help her out, and the narrative makes good use of it's drama to compel audiences. I really can't wait for Part 2 to come out. 6. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (5 points) Objectively speaking, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes could rank much higher on this list. It features stunning special effects, a well-paced plot, exciting action and a sublime performance from the simians on screen. Andy Serkis brings Caesar to life about as well as he did Gollum years ago, and the interspecies drama is more than enough to make up for a somewhat generic human cast. Furthermore, this movie includes some thought-provoking ideas about how truly anyone, human or ape, is capable of both good and evil. 5. Edge of Tomorrow (6 points) Original intellectual properties need to be treated with more respect, and Edge of Tomorrow shows us why. In a year full of franchise blockbusters, it underperformed at the box office, but it is still a sensational piece of science fiction. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are excellent in their roles, and in a refreshing reversal of stereotypes, she is the elite soldier who shows him the ropes. The film does a bang-up job of pacing and organizing it's time travel narrative, which will never be an easy task. Pulse-pounding battles and spectacular visuals round out the package. 4. X-Men: Days of Future Past (7 points) After the questionable debacle that was X-Men: The Last Stand, fans of Marvel's mutants were left waiting for a redemption on the big screen, and Days of Future Past is just that. Just like Edge of Tomorrow, it uses time travel brilliantly to drive the plot and ultimately erase Brett Ratner's mistakes from canon. Every single mutant is distinctive, cool and likable, which makes it hurt even more when they are savagely killed by the Sentinels of the future. This flick represents a love letter to X-Men fans, and we are left salivating for more. 3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (8 points) Another one of Marvel's blockbuster offerings, The Winter Soldier is easily the best of the 2014 class and arguably even better than 2012's The Avengers. In terms of tone, the movie feels more like one of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy than any Marvel film that came before, as Black Widow and the titular Captain must survive a devastating betrayal that no one (except maybe the audience) saw coming. Big questions about morality, good governance and liberty versus security are mixed in with top-tier action sequences, well-placed humour and a strong supporting cast. From an objective standpoint, it is very hard to nitpick The Winter Soldier. 2. Godzilla (9 points) The King is Back. Oh yes sir, he is, and he is bigger and badder than ever. Personally, I had to watch this film twice because it is so good overall. The action is set on an epic scale, the special effects are impressive and the plot does a magnificent job of slowly building to it's climax. The quality of the human characters, particularly Aaron Taylor-Johnson's, is debatable, but ultimately they do just fine representing normal people in the midst of a developing cataclysm. Godzilla's serious tone and poignant themes makes it even more real, despite it's fantastic premise. A tremendous tour de force. 1. Interstellar (10 points) I can say without a doubt that Interstellar is my favourite film of all time, until further notice. Why? Because for me, it resonated on every single level. Usually when I watch movies, I place different expectations on different genres (i.e. action films are just there for explosions and badassery, while dramas are there for characterization and plot). But Interstellar has it all. Utterly gorgeous visual effects? Check. A well-written, well-executed plot? Check. Loads of excitement and adventure? Check. Most importantly, this film has a soul. The leading actors each deliver a genuinely moving performance, to the point where I was surprised I didn't cry. The immense struggle, heartbreak and bittersweet atmosphere strewn throughout the narrative touched me and honestly, made me grateful for the life I have and the world I live in. And there's no higher praise I can give to a motion picture than that. Edited by Omega Prime, Mar 8 2015, 05:21 AM.
