Elysia has fairly sizable holdings on the Laurasian mainland. And hold claim over two major island territories settled by Elysian explores long ago. The first is the Viridian Islands known as the Holy Twins because of their close connection to each other separated only by a small river that at times dries when the ocean tide lowers. The Viridian Islands are not far from the western coast of Elysia serves as Elysia's gateway to the Caprica Ocean. Far from the mainland to the east lays the tropical Celeste Islands, a set of tropical islands that are known for their beautiful environments and being a popular vacation destination. Culture: The Republic of Elysia has long stood as a nation with a long rich history with a vast and diverse culture. Elysia and it's people stand on the ideals that all citizens should be able to enjoy a peaceful and happy life with opportunities provided to them to give everyone a chance to live the life they dream. While not always successful in this drive, this has given Elysia a reputation for being a welcoming and happy nation which has struggled to overcome past troubles and embrace a vision of happiness for all people of Elysia. The class divide in Elysia is somewhat blurred. While efforts have been made to provide opportunities and blur the lines between rich and poor there still exist a defined upper class usually the result of former noble lines securing their vast riches of the past or successful families who have forged their way to riches via business. However despite best efforts to ensure that the majority of Elysia live as comfortable middle class lifestyle poverty is not unheard of particularly in recent times with jobless refugees and immigrants struggling finacially as they find themselves growing more numerous. Civil rights in Elysia are quite fair by most standards. Citizens have the freedom to express themselves and live their lives without fear of prejudice or judgement. Most Elysians are strive to live a comfortable life and provided nothing interferes with that they are quite accepting of most things without question. Discrimination is not tolerated but cannot always be avoided within the nation but efforts are made to put a stop to such situations. Elysia prides itself on being a peaceful nation that strives to avoid war whenever possible. However it is not above maintaining a defense if necessary, in these troubling times Parliament approved emergency military universal conscription in a time of war and offers attractive incentives to those willing to volunteer for military service such as increased pay and free education opportunities. Sports: Sports are a popular pass time and national event in Elysia. People across the nation compete on various levels from amateur hobby to professional leagues. Sports of all types are played in Elysia but only a few are popular enough to feature national leagues where teams and athletes across the nation compete to become national champions. Association football is one of the most popular sports in the country and is played throughout the nation even in the poorest of regions it is not uncommon to see makeshift soccer fields being played in by adults and children alike. It's popularity has led to soccer being considered the national sport of Elysia. Elysia is well known for being the reigning champion of the annual International World Cup for a all time record of five years claiming victory before they were finally defeated by Zipang in the 2014 World Cup. Basketball is another common sport more popular in the many big cities and urban areas of the nation, Basketball tournaments are a regular occurrence and Elysia often competes in international leagues. Rugby is another popular sport but unlike Soccer and Basketball it is not played on an international level, but national tournaments are a popular pass time that many citizens enjoy. Ethnic Groups: Elysia is a ethnically diverse a nation composed of several groups who have come together to form the nations that have only grown considerably as the generations passed. The most common Ethnic Groups in Elysia are listed here from majority groups to minorities: Ylse The Ylse are usually considered the most common people in Elysia. Descended from nomads who entered the region after passing over the Summerset Mountains that mixed in with natives in the region which led to the development of the first civilizations in Elysia's early history known as the Three Tribes. The Three Tribes were great nations that were led by ancient bloodlines who rose the power via political skill and military might. Each tribe held a specialization and were hailed for their skills in their trade. Eventually the tribes were unified after the formation of the first Elysian Kingdom but their legacy carries on in legend and Ylse often pride themselves on which tribe they are descended from. The Three Tribes include: Golden Serpent Said to be the richest of the tribes. Golden Serpent were master craftsmen who excelled in the creation beautiful art pieces and luxurious architecture some of which still stands to this day. The Golden Serpent Tribe were also skilled traders who were masters of the market and their merchants always seemed to meet the needs of all who made offers to them. It is little surprise that some of the richest people in Elysia are descended from Golden Serpent who still carry on the traditions of their ancestors. Crimson Hawk The Crimson Hawk tribe was a proud nation that was known to be home to some of the deadliest hunters. Like birds of pray the hunters of Crimson Hawk could take down any prey without fear. And were hailed for being fearless warriors mighty in strength and unchallenged in battle. They were masters of nature seeming to thrive in the wilds but they were also a very spiritual nation that built great temples that can be found across Elysia dedicated to performing rituals. In modern times descendants of Crimson Hawk are said to be very proud and still enjoy entering the wilds of nature that their ancestors thrived in. Azure Whale The Azure Whale tribe were explorers who could not live without the sea. It is said that Azure Whale explorers were the among the first people to leave Laurasia and discover the neighboring continent of Vaalbara long ago. Master sailors and constantly exploring the Azure Whale nation has little remaining of their ancient settlements but what they instead have are countless artifacts recovered by their journeys and historical text written firsthand by brave explorers. The ancestors of Azure Whale are said to still have the ever curious nature of their forefathers constantly feeling the urge to go out and see the world. Many famous Ylse thrill seekers and explorers are descended from Azure Whale. Appearance wise, Ylse are very diverse typically characterized by their distinctive dark hair which is said to have a slight blueish color to it. Ylse tend to have skin color ranging from light to dark depending on their direct ancestry, Ylse from northern Elysia tend to have lighter fair skin with southerners have darker more Olive skin. Viridia The Viridia people are descended from the native people of the Viridian Islands. While much of their history can be traced back to life on the Holy Twins in relative isolation the Viridia play a large part in Elysian history. After the Viridia clans came together and formed a collective nation known as the Viridian Kingdom they crossed the channel to mainland Elysia and encountered the ancient Three Tribes. The two alien cultures came together and found common ground with each other and which eventually led to them becoming more unified and forming the first Elysian Kingdom which would be the forefather to the modern Republic. The Viridia have a long history with many famous traditional songs and dance that have become entranced in not only their ethnic culture but Elysian culture as well. Viridian Noble Houses from the old Kingdom still stand to this day and while no longer in control of the nation they still hold great influence. Appearance wise, Viridia descended people tend to be fair skinned with a wide arrange of hair colors such as brown, blond, red and infrequently black. Bastian The Bastian people are considered the largest minority group in Elysia. While not an uncommon sight they are typically found only in the western coastal portions of the country this is because of their rather complex history. The Bastian people are not native to the region they arrived in Elysia in the 16th century when fleets of ships from across the sea landed on Elysia's shores. These sea people spoke an unfamiliar language and had little interest in trying to peacefully coexist instead they waged a series of violent conflict to try and secure lands for themselves on Elysia. The Bastian Wars would be fought for nearly two hundreds years as intense battles would be fought between years of spying and bitter preparation. This conflict would only end when during the final years of the war, a famed hero in Elysian history King Iscandar II waged a decisive campaign against the Bastians and gained an overwhelming victory. Destroying many of their settlements, the Bastians surrendered and pleaded for mercy. King Iscandar accepted and began what would be known to this day as The Great Retribution, Bastians were allowed to continue living in Elysia with few rights and were considered akin to slaves forced to perform countless forms of labor and endure inhumane and humiliating conditions at the mercy of their victors. Many Bastians would refuse to accept these conditions and would wage uprisings in an attempt to secure their freedom but most of these attempted revolutions met swift and bloody ends at times even worsening the treatment of Bastians. This era would go on for many years until 1921 during the middle of the Helios caused industrial revolution when sympathizers and Bastian representatives began the Bastian Civil Rights Movement. A series of mass peaceful protest and political debates that swept the nation in an effort to show the the Great Retribution was an unjust punishment and that Bastians had more than paid the price. The Civil Rights movement would go on for many years until June 12th 1941 when the Elysian Citizens Equality act was signed into law granting equal right to all citizens of Elysia even Bastians. However even too this day Bastians are the victims to prejudice and xenophobia due to old grudges but efforts have been made to clamp down on these and Anti-Bastian racism has been at an all time low for the first time in generations. Bastians have a rather distinct appearance compared to most ethnic groups, they are known for their distinctive pale skin and hair that is either a bright shade of white or even silver in color and noticeable red or green eyes. Wakkan The Wakkan people are native to the Celeste Islands. They are not often seen off the islands as travel from the Celeste Islands to the mainland is very expensive. The Wakkan people are often known through stereotypes based off the Islands reputation as a vacation destination giving most the impression that your average Wakkan is a simple fun lover without a care in the world. While the Wakkan known for their festive celebrations and enjoyable pass times like surfing they have a long history of ancient traditions and cultural traits miraculously passed down entirely via retelling. Elder pass down tales and knowledge to children and they pass it down to their descendants once they grow up. Many Wakkans pride themselves on collecting as much knowledge as possible to pass down to others despite their being easier alternatives. An adventurous and ever curious people, much of Wakkan culture embraces travel and the pursuit of wisdom while preserving old traditions and pass times. Appearance wise, Wakkans are usually very dark skinned usually with brown or black hair and have a wid arrange of eye color. Immigrants/Refugees Finally the smallest but continually growing number of people in Elysia is Immigrants and Refugees entering the nation from around the world to escape the violence of their homelands. In particular many of these people come from nations across the world and are very diverse in nature as they struggle to find their place in Elysia. Some of the most numerous are peoples fleeing from the wars between Lestonian and it's neighboring countries such as the Empire of Zipang. Thousands of Shino, the native people of Zipang have fled their country to Elysia to escape the fighting and forge a new life for themselves. Among them are fleeing Lestonians who have been chased out for opposing the war and even Bastians from other regions who have been forced out bringing with them horror stories of the homes they have been forced out of. The presence of these refugees and immigrants sometimes referred to informally as "Fuujis" is something debated by many Elysians. Some feel they have a duty to provide safe haven to those displaced by war. Other fear that they will bring the war with them or destabilize Elysia as they continue to enter the country in search of jobs and homes to replace what they lost. Many have joined the Elysian Armed Force in the hopes that veteran benefits will assist their families. History: The Republic of Elysia's history can be traced all the way back to the 11th Century when the ancient Viridian Kingdom made first contact with the Three Tribes of the Ylse people. After a series of conflict and political maneuvers known only in historical text as the great unity, these ancient nations came together and formed what is now known as the first Elysian Kingdom the ancient Elysian Kingdom was not a wholly united nation but a collection of loosely allied noble Houses that answered to the current sitting King usually the head of whatever House currently held the capital of Aurelia. The first Kingdom would stand for nearly two centuries until it fell during a series of vicious infighting known as the War of the Kings, this war caused the organization of the first Kingdom to fall apart and it would not end until the appearance of a hailed hero in Elysian lore known as the Jolly King. Little is known about the Jolly King, not much of their history or even their gender is directly recorded only legends are known which say that the Jolly King was a peaceful person who hated war and wanted to bring an end to the vicious fighting that spread across Elysia. Together with a group of like minded individuals and formed a great 'army' with intimidating armor and weapons that would inspire fear in any foe. The great army would march upon it's enemies who would be so shocked they would surrender without a fight only for the Jolly King to step forth and reveal the ruse. The Jolly King's rivals were said to be so shocked they accepted defeat with humility and joined the great army. The truth of this tale is unknown but that is known that the sudden end of the War of the Kings brought about the creation of the second Elysian Kingdom. A far more united nation where the Houses followed the rule of the Royal bloodline said to be directly descended from the hailed Jolly King. The second Elysian Kingdom stood for many years growing in size and scope eventually creating a vast nation that spread from the Summerset Mountains to the Viridian Islands. This era of prosperity would last for a long time until the arrival of the Bastian Fleets which landed on the coast that led to a 200 year long series of conflict until the ultimate defeat of the Bastian nation by King Iscandar and the beginning of the great retribution. After that Elysia entered a quiet era of development and growth that would last for some time. The Elysian Kingdom grew into a powerful nation that began to spread out to the waves exploring the world and making grand new discoveries with every passing day. This continued for some time until a discovery was made in the year 1881 that would change the world. A scientist by the name of Jacob Steiner discovered a miraculous new mineral that could generate massive amounts of power far greater than any resource yet discovered. He dubbed this miracle mineral, Helios and the world would forever be changed. All over the world Helios was sought after and mined, Elysia was no exception as Helios was sought after to generate power and led to all new breakthroughs in technology and science. Elysia which never struggled for resources struck gold in when massive Helios reserves were found in the Summerset Mountains. In the world economy, Elysia soon found itself once of the richest nations in the world with it's vast new reserves and was careful to maintain it and keep exclusive mining rights. As the years passed the world grew more advanced and society began to change. The Elysian nation underwent a massive change when in 1936, Queen Cecily V declared her intent to give rule of Elysia to the people and not exclusively to the monarchy. The government was reorganized and the first Elysian parliament giving new opportunities to the nation. The Elysian Kingdom became the Republic of Elysia. And the horrors of the Great Retribution ended with the signing of the Elysian Citizens Equality act. The world entered a golden age of peace and development with the usage of Helios, even taking it's first steps to the stars when in 1958, the Lestonian Federation launched the world's first moon mission and sent footage around the world of a Lestonian staring down at the planet from above. This golden age would last for many years until a discovery was made in the year 1982. Global research into the world's Helios stores revealed a startling fact. What was once thought to be plentiful reserves were in fact running out much faster than anticipated and Helios was being mined faster than it could grow. The world was slowly running out of the very lifeblood of the revolution that drove it's development further. Global political relations began to grow more tense as nations began to secure whatever holdings of Helios they had. Countries that lacked large stores of Helios began to grow more aggressive to those that had. Soon enough wars were being fought over Helios and conflict was starting to break out globally. Elysia managed to avoid initial conflict by maintaining fair trade when reviews showed that the vast stores in the Summerset Mountains were still plentiful as well as other resources needed if Helios were too run out. But around Elysia war and poverty have grown more and more common particularly when in 1996, the Lestonian Federation began a series of rapid expansions against it's neighbors when it's Helios stores had approached dangerous lows. Elysia remained neutral in this conflict hoping that the Federation would stop this bloody expansion, providing civilian aid to those effected by the conflict. The last straw for the republic was when Lestonian forces invaded the Empire of Zipang a long time trade partner of Elysia in 2010. In protest to the invasion, Elysia ceased all further trade with the Lestonian Federation and placed an embargo. Federation authority's reacted poorly to the decision and diplomatic talks between Elysia and the Lestonian Federation ceased. After that a long period of silence settled while everyone held their breath to see what happened next. In 2012, Elysia began it's first military build up in the Republic's history and began a mass recruitment drive for military service which paved way to parliament signing the Emergency Universal Conscription act. Finally in 2016, the first alarm came when the Lestonian Federation ordered an evacuation of all embassies in Elysia and sent recalls to all of it's citizens in Elysia. The Elysian military was placed and standby and remains watchful around the clock. While attempts were made to try and keep the peace, offers for peace talks were ignored and communications cut. Then on December 31st 2016, the Lestonian Federation formally declared war on Elysia and launched it's first strike sinking a fleet of Elysian supply ships en route to Zipang. Despite Federation claims of being a military target, the Elysian government stands firm that the supply ships were civilians and that the Lestonian Navy had no right to attack them. Elysian Royal Armed Forces![]() The Royal Elysian Armed Forces (Acronym REAF) form the military of the Republic of Elysia. Tasked with the defense of the country, protecting Elysians worldwide and ensuring the safety of Elysia's territorial holdings the Elysian military is the nation's first line of defense against enemies foreign and domestic. Like most of the nation the REAF can trace it's origins back to the days of the early Elysian Kingdom descended from the loyal soldiers that have stood proudly for the Royal Family and now proudly serve the Republic. Though Elysia has been at peace for many years, the REAF has taken great efforts to learn and understand the ways of modern warfare to ensure they are properly equipped and trained to defend Elysia in a time of crisis. The Royal Elysian Armed Forces is composed of three primary military branches responsible for different fields of warfare. The Elysian Royal Army (ERA) the principal land warfare branch; The Elysian Royal Navy (ERN), the nations primary blue-water navy that operates a small yet dedicated naval fleet that is supported by the airborne Naval Air Service and finally the Elysian Royal Air Force (RAF) charged with defending the aerospace of Elysia with a diverse arrange of air and spacecraft. Recruitment Entrance into the Elysian military for all branches begins in two ways, voluntarily sign up or conscription. Volunteers for military service agree to serve for up to 4 years or longer if they so choose and enjoy benefits such as attractive pay and government financial support, access to free education and career programs and for foreigners trying to become citizens volunteering grants full citizens rights. Volunteers are free to choose any branch of their choosing and can select their service provided they meet the proper criteria. After the signing of the Emergency Universal Conscription act, mandatory conscription has become a potential entrance for many into the armed forces. The Emergency Universal Conscription act requires all able bodied and mentally capable citizens of and between the ages of 17 to 39 to serve a mandatory 2 years of military service. Like volunteers conscripts are given fair pay and financial support is provided to their families. Unlike volunteers, conscripts must go through a series of test known as the Armed Services Capability Review to determine their skill set and capability before they are assigned to a branch and role. Membership in the Royal Elysian Armed Forces like most military forces is split between two distinct groups Officers and Enlisted. Enlisted are the backbone of the military preforming many duties vital to the military such as auxiliary and combat roles. While typically taking orders rather than giving them Enlisted can gain higher positions by becoming non-commissioned officers that while lower than commissioned officers are given leadership over their lower ranked peers and tend to be longtime members. Officers are the authority figures of the military taking command of large units and serve as the overall coordinators of the Elysian military's units. Some positions in the military restricted to either Officers or Enlisted depending on their nature. While anyone both volunteer and conscript can join the enlisted ranks to become a military Officer is a slightly more complicated task. To become an officer in the Royal Armed Forces usually requires having a college level education which most officers gain by attending an Elysian Military Academy run by one of the three branches. Civilian college students can also train to be officers be signing up for Officer Candidate Training (OCT) a course provided by the military to train civilians into officers in a manner similar to basic training for Enlisted. Conscripts usually cannot become officers, however college level conscripts who have promising scores in this Armed Services Capability Review may be selected to become an Officer. Rank Rank in the Royal Elysian Armed Forces is determined based off your branch of service. Depending on the branch of service an Elysian service member wears a rank insignia on their uniform typically on their shoulder. Service members may receive promotions either based off performance in the field or attending test that are held to determine candidates for promotion. Elysian Royal Army: Panzer Knight Corps![]() The Elysian Panzer Knight Corps is a well known subbranch of the Elysian Royal Army. The Panzer Knight Corps is a major component of the Elysian Military as a whole due to their charge with the deployment of the revolutionary weapons system, Panzer Suits. Panzer Suits are advanced combat mecha used by Military forces worldwide which have completely changed how war is waged. Elysia was no exception to this and the Panzer Knight Corps was made soon after they began producing their own Panzer Suits. While still part of the Elysian Royal Army, the Panzer Knight Corps is considered a subbranch due to the independent equipment and logistics needed for the deployment of Panzer Suits in the field. Due to their adaptable nature, the Panzer Knight Corps is expected to work closely alongside the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force to preform operations that the conventional Army would be unable to participate in. Training & Entrance Because the Panzer Knight Corps is a conventional unit and not special forces entrance is available to all aspiring members of the Elysian Army. Both volunteers and conscripts have an opportunity to join the ranks of the Panzer Knight Corps either by selection or assignment. Once basic training is completed, trainees for the Panzer Knight Corps go through extended training in various Infantry courses to familiarize them vital combat skills that will assist them in their future as pilots. Once they complete the Infantry courses, trainees are sent to Fort Star's Reach near the Summerset Mountains Panzer Suit operation training. Due to the necessity of fresh pilots needed to fill the ranks of the Panzer Knight Corps training at Fort Star's Reach is quite basic teaching trainees the simplest in operations skills such as basic Panzer Suit control and maneuvering, weapons familiarization and marksmanship training. If a trainee achieves satisfactory marks during their training they are assigned to one of the several Panzer Divisions within the Panzer Knight Corps. Washouts are sent to other places in the military typically Infantry or Armor units. Pilots who show particular skill go through extended training to operate more complex Panzer Suit models. Upon graduation from Fort Star's Reach and extended training, trainees are granted the title of 'Panzer Knight' and receive their deployment orders. Typically fresh Panzer Knights are sent straight to their Panzer Division where they will go through further training exercises to familiarize themselves with their fellow Panzer Knights in the Division and be further trained for engaging in large scale operations. In order to ensure a Panzer Division is readily available, each Division rotates acceptance of new Panzer Knights to ensure that the Corps is always on standby and not distracted with the training of new pilots. Panzer Knight Corps Uniform While part of the Elysian Royal Army, the Panzer Knight Corps is grant unique uniforms to distinguish it's servicemen from those of the conventional Army. The standard color of the Panzer Knights Corps uniforms is blue as opposed to the Army's traditional grey. Panzer Knight Corps employs unisex uniforms that are visually similar with little differences between uniforms for men and women outside of sizing. This is done to promote unity and solidarity within the Corps and channel the uniforms design of historic Elysian Knights that are the inspiration for the Panzer Knight Corps. Knight Duty Uniform The Knight Duty Uniform (KDU) is the standard uniform worn by personnel who are on duty or in active deployments. Soldiers of the Panzer Knight Corps are expected to wear the KDU at all times only minor changes to the traditional are allowed according to military regulations. There are two variants of the KDU the more formal variant which is worn during service in non-combat situations, formal events and outings. The second variant is combat oriented resembling traditional battledress which lacks the more dress portions of the uniform and is only marked with rank and unit patches. The combat variants removes the half-kilt worn on the formal uniform but some soldiers wear a regulations approved shorter version of the half-kilt which stops at the knees. Full Dress Uniform The formal dress uniform of the Panzer Knight Corps, worn during at ceremonies, official receptions and special occasions. The Panzer Knight Corps dress uniform is based off of the uniforms worn by the Elysian Royal Army in the 19th century. This uniform embodies the knightly spirit of the Panzer Knight Corps meant to inspire a since of dignity and pride among the personnel of the Corps. Every member of the Panzer Knight Corps receives a formal Mameluke Sword to inspire the spirit of an Elysian Knight within all it's members. Panzer Operations Suit The Panzer Operations Suit (POS) is the standard uniform worn by all Panzer Knights while operating Panzer Suits. Resembling a flight suit like those worn by aircraft pilots, the POS serves a similar purpose providing a Panzer Suit operator with vital support needed for operating the advanced weapons system. Flame resistant, temperature and climate adjustment and even to a degree bullet proofed with protective body armor weaved into suit to assist with pilot survival in case of emergency. The POS also comes equipped with systems in place to assist with Panzer Suit piloting such as the helmet despite appearing as a solid helmet is actually two pieces, the main helmet and the oxygen mask which can be worn optionally but is preferred for potential dangers that could arise. The helmet has a large visor that descends over the operator's face and displays a variety of vital combat information and data freeing the operator from having to look at cumbersome displays. Panzer Suits Panzer Suits are advanced weapons systems fielded by military forces worldwide since their invention in 1955. In simple terms Panzer Suits are robots controlled by human operators that typically stand between three to six meters in height. Typically humanoid with some exceptions, Panzer Suits are capable of engaging in a wide variety of environments that would usually be only accessible to specialized vehicles or solely Infantry. Panzer Suits are capable of great speed and maneuverability due to the Rapid Mobility System (RMS), sometimes known as 'Skates'. Essentially the RMS is a set of high powered wheels or treads attached to the bottom of a Panzer Suit's feet or mounted on the side of the legs.The RMS can move through practically any terrain with ease with great speed and is so reliable in the field that some models of Panzer Suits forgo feet altogether and rely solely on the RMS to maneuver. Many Panzer Suits come equipped with Jump Jets that allow them to traverse great heights or leap over obstacles with ease. Jump Jets typically have limited fuel which means pilots cannot afford to be wasteful when using their Jump Jets in the field. To counter this for operations that would require extended use of Jump Jets, Panzer Suits can be mounted with Jump Packs with greater fuel and more powerful engines allowing them to traverse greater distances. Flight-Type Panzer Suits are usually equipped with a more powerful version of Jump Jets known as Flight Drives, Flight Drives are high powered engines built into the frame of the Panzer Suit with speed, fuel and range capacity that far exceeds what can be done with a Jump Pack. Flight Drives are complex and expensive systems which is why their deployment is limited compared to traditional Jump Jets. Panzer Suits also equipped with advanced visual, communications, sensor and networked computer systems that keep the pilot constantly up to date with events around the battlefield. Operator safety is a key objective with Panzer Suit design. All Panzer Suits are equipped with advanced ejection systems that in case of emergency can launch a pilot away to a safe distance from their endangered Suit where they can be recovered by friendly force later. Panzer Suits have no standard universal design and can come in all shapes. To identify them in the field they are generally regulated into 'Types', Panzer Suit types reflect their role and abilities on the battlefield. The most common are Standard types which are bipedal or humanoid Panzer Suits that are suited for land operations in most terrain. Amphibious type Panzer Suits are capable of maneuvering and operating underwater for long periods of time without suffering performance lost unlike standard types they are sometimes referred to as Aquatic types if they lack the ability to operate on land. Flight type Panzer Suits are lighter designs built with aerodynamics in mind they are equipped with Flight Drives that allow them to remain airborne for long periods of time achieving great heights and speed. Alternative type Panzer Suits are Panzer Suits that lack the traditional humanoid or bipedal design favoring a unique build that gives them an edge on the battlefield. Ironclad type Panzer Suits are the heavies of the Panzer Suit world they sacrifice speed and maneuverability for armor and firepower usually providing artillery support in the field. Finally there are Variable type Panzer Suits, these Panzer Suits are capable of transforming into different forms granting them a wide set of abilities. Panzer Suits can use a wide variety of weaponry. Many Panzer Suits rely on handheld weaponry that can be switched out depending on the pilot's preference. The standard range weapon for Panzer Suit's is a type of Autocannon known as a Auto Rifle which is similar to a upscaled assault rifle in use with devastating firepower. Similar upscaled weaponry includes Shotguns, Sniper Cannons and Panzer Suit scale grenades. Rotary cannons are a common weapon that is used for unleashing devastating barrages on the enemy. Heavy cannons similar to those found on main battle tanks can be used by Panzer Suits usually as a heavy weapon requiring two hands to operate. Missile and rocket launching platforms are a common weapon for Panzer Suits, the most common form is shoulder held launchers commonly referred too as Bazookas but other delivery systems exist for Panzer Suits. Directed-energy weapons are also beginning to make their way into the hands of Panzer Suits, already Elysia has begun experiments in developing a handheld Laser Rifle for Panzer Suits in the field. Weaponry can also be mounted on a Panzer Suit's body if they cannot always rely on handheld weaponry. Almost all Panzer Suits are equipped with munitions launchers designed for the deployment of various munitions vital for survival in the battlefield. These munitions launchers are typically used for deploying defensive measures like smoke, decoy flares, signal flares and radar disrupting Chaff. They can also be used for offensive purposes such as deploying anti-infantry grenades for warding off enemy infantry. But sometimes bigger weapons are needed and for humanoid and bipedal type Panzer Suits weapons such as this can be mounted on the shoulders. But some Panzer Suits lack hands altogether and must rely on mounted weaponry typically placed on the back or any other available locations for weaponry. These weapons tend to be larger than the handheld weaponry granting these Panzer Suits formidable firepower. Some models of Panzer Suits go a step farther and have weapons mounted inside their body, usually as a backup weapon in case their mounted or handheld weapons are unable to be used. Melee weaponry are also a common sight with Panzer Suits. Many models come equipped with melee weapons for close range combat where other weapons would be ineffective. The most common weapons are High-frequency blade, bladed weapons that vibrate rapidly granting them immense cutting power able to tear through most materials with ease. Thermal weaponry is another common melee weapon that serve a similar purpose but rather than relying on vibrations they generate intense heat which causes anything in it's path to melt from the intense heat. Melee weapons come in all varieties and their exact nature varies depending on regulations and pilot preference. For defensive measures, many Panzer Suits have the ability to carry shields into battle. These shields are rather simple in design, large thick metal slabs designed to withstand as much punishment as possible. Shields are a useful survival tool on the battlefield and if used well they can save an operator's life. However they weigh down a Panzer Suits frame causing a loss of speed and maneuverability. A pilot must decide if the sacrifice is worth it. Elysian Panzer Suits EPS-1 Broadside Type: Standard Height: 5 Meters Info: The EPS-1 is the first mass production Panzer Suit ever fielded by Elysia. Developed from schematics recovered from overseas, the Elysian government approved production of a native built machine to match the new weapons being deployed around the world. After many years of research and development the EPS-1 was the result. Despite it's crude appearance the 'Broadside' as it is fondly known is a hardy designs which balances the maneuverability of a standard type with the weight of an Ironclad type. The EPS-1 can provide heavy fire support with twin heavy cannons despite lacking hands or manipulators like most bipedal types. The Broadside was first revealed to the public in 1978 and has continued to serve in the Panzer Knight Corps despite construction being shut down in favor of newer models. Upgraded with modern technology and regularly serviced the Broadside continues to be a common sight. EPS-10 Ridgeback Type: Standard Height: 3 Meters Info: The EPS-10 Ridgeback is the standard mass production model Panzer Suit currently fielded. The EPS-10 is a hardy design based off of imported Zipang developed Panzer Suits for research. Native built this is the first modern Panzer Suit built and fielded by Elysia. While not overly exceptional in any particular fields, this model is highly reliable and is popular with many Panzer Knights for it's ease of control. The EPS-10 is the most familiar to new Panzer Knight models, as the non-combat variant the EPS-8 is used as a training Suit replacing the unarmed EPS-1 trainers that were used in the 1980s. EPS-14 Goshawk Type: Flight Height: 4 Meters Info: The EPS-14 Goshawk is the result of a joint project between researchers and designers from both Elysia and Zipang. The EPS-14 is the first flight capable Panzer Suit to enter service in the Panzer Knight Corps. First introduced in 1995, the EPS-14 was nicknamed the 'Goshawk' by test pilots and the nickname stuck becoming an official title for the Suit. Goshawks are extremely fast and maneuverable Suits, able to move between the ground and air with ease using it's powerful Flight Drive to propel it through the air at speeds up to Mach 1. One of the fastest Panzer Suits in service the EPS-14 is sadly not without issues. It is not a particularly durable Panzer Suit having a delicate frame and is not quite as formidably armored as it's fellow Panzer Suits. It is also known for being difficult to handle and hard to master which requires dedicated training and some talent to be able to use the Goshawk to it's full potential. EPS-12 Mosa Type: Amphibious Height: 5 Meters Info: The EPS-12 Mosa is is a relatively recent model deployed by the Panzer Knight Corps. An amphibious model Panzer Suit created for marine operations that the other models fielded by the Panzer Knight Corps would be unsuited for. Equipped with sophisticated undersea equipment and high powered aqua jets the Mosa can move rapidly through water granting it formidable maneuverability. And while it lacks the RMS found on land based Panzer Suits, it is no slouch as it's has formidable armor and can reach highs speeds via sprinting. The Mosa is equipped with shoulder mounted torpedo/missile launchers found default on all models. And connected to the forearms are a pair of rocket powered grappling claws that can be used for auxiliary purposes as well as combat. EPS-5 Indominus Type: Ironclad Height: 6 Meters Info: The EPS-5 Indominus is the largest and most heavily armored mass production type in the Elysian military. An intimidating and awe inspiring weapon of war the Indominus was developed with the intention of showing off the capabilities of Elysian engineers purposefully deigning a machine reminiscent of the great theropod predators that roam the Elysian wilds. Armed to the teeth, literally in this case, the EPS-5 can be mounted with a formidable amount of weaponry such as back mounted weapons platforms and weapons can be added to the sides of it's massive claws which can seize smaller objects and crush them with ease. The Indominus robotic jaws serve not only as a weapon but can be used for engineering work. This impressive model has found much use and is widely deployed in the Panzer Knight Corps. Regions of Elysia Elysia is a large nation with a diverse range of territories and environments. To maintain these areas and their differing needs to maintain daily life for it's citizens the Elysian central government divides these areas into administrative regions. Each administrative region is led by a local government that acts as a voice for the people to the central government. Each region has it's own history and culture that can be traced long into Elysian history. Gamal ![]() Gamal is among the oldest and arguably most prominent of the Elysian administrative regions. Gamal is believed to be where the original Elysian Kingdom was settled due to the massive amount of artifacts and ancient relics discovered regularly across Gamal. Ancient ruins and old castles dot the landscape some exist as landmarks while others too overgrown are left for nature to reclaim. Many of Elysia's historic Noble Houses and ancient bloodlines are settled in Gamal making it home to much of the Elysian upper class, it is often said that Gamal is home to the Elysian elite. Gamal is a temperate region with sprawling forest and grassland alongside several large rivers that descend from the Summerset mountains provide a beautiful landscape between Gamal's towns and cities. The capital city of Elysia, Aurelia is settled within Gamal, a sprawling metropolis that is considered the largest city in the nation. Aurelia is the crown jewel of Elysia and is considered one of the finest cities on the Laurasian continent. Summerset Summerset is a mountainous region located west of the Elysian border. Home to the famous Summerset Mountains, where the nations rich Helios reserves are found the Summerset region is one of natural beauty and industry. Helios mines and factories are scattered around the mountainside in between the many forest that dot the mountains, the most famous of these are the massive Royal Redwoods which tower above nearly every other forest in the nation. Citizens of Summerset enjoy a quiet and peaceful lifestyle without many worries except for getting by day by day in the small towns and cities that cover the lowlands. Balus Balus is the northern region of Elysia that borders the Laurasian Gulf, the oceanic bay that sits between Elysia, Zipang and Lestonia. Balus is a busy port region that specializes in oceanic shipping headed to the northern seas and is home too many port cities, towns and even small fishing communities. Inland much of Balus environment is wetland a mix of marshes, swamps and fens much of it has been converted into paddy fields for rice farming. Historically Balus is where the initial population of Bastians made their landing in Elysia and as a result Balus became the sight of many battles between the ancient Bastians and the native Elysians. In modern times, Balus is home to the largest concentration of Bastians who have remained in the areas that their ancestors landed long ago. Because of the aftereffects of the Great Retribution, Balus has suffered being one of the poorer regions in the nation. Dead Lands The Dead Lands are a large region located south of Balus. The Dead Lands are a infamous area in Elysia due to it's history that can be traced back to The Bastian Wars. In the past what is now known as the Dead Lands was a rich land plentiful with life and resources that's name has been lost to history but when the Bastians arrived and claimed the coast they began to march on this land in order to claim it for their people. The Elysians refused to allow this land to fall to the Bastians and the rich land became a vicious battlefield. Two hundred years of war permanently scarred the land and what was once a place rich with life was rendered barren with only a great desert left where great forest once stood. The land was renamed and forever remembered as a dark spot in Elysian history and much of the blame for it's destruction fell upon the Bastian people. During the Great Retribution, thousands of Bastians were forcibly moved into the Dead Lands and placed in shanty towns known as Work Zones. Those thrust into the Work Zones were forced to work in mines and other hard labor duties without regard for safety or payment under the harsh watch of overseers. When the Elysian Citizens Equality act was signed, these Work Zones were formally shut down but many of those living there were too poor to move out thus they remain working the same job with limited payment for their work and while conditions are somewhat improved the Work Zones are still considered poor living spaces. Hestia Hestia is the largest region on the Elysian mainland, stretching out from the western coast of Elysia all the way to the southern coast. Hestia is the farmland capital of the nation, between the scattered savanna that remains of Hestia's original environment there is kilometers of farmland, towns and cities dedicated to the production of food supplies needed both to supply the rest of Elysia and to freely trade worldwide to maintain the nations economy. Port cities and towns are located on the western and southern coast that are directly connected to highways to the inland farms. Hestia is among the most racially diverse regions as farmers of all ethnicity travel into Hestia in search of work and new opportunities. Viridian Islands The Viridian Islands, popularly known as the Holy Twins are a pair of large islands off the western coast of Elysia. Rich with flora and fauna the ancient homeland of the Viridia people is full of history that can be traced back to even prehistory as old caverns have signs of the ancient peoples who lived on the islands long before even the ancestors of the Ylse arrived. The twin islands are linked by the Aria river, a small river that links the two islands when the tide lowers a small land bridge can be crossed without trouble by curious travelers, this crossing is considered a sacred place by Viridians and great efforts are made to preserve it. Covered in temperate woodland, the Viridian island have a unique environment with equally diverse wildlife not found anywhere else in Elysia. The Viridian Islands are home to Aria Harbor one of the largest harbors in Elysia that serves both civilian shipping and the military as several naval bases are located nearby. Celeste Islands The Celeste Islands are a group of five islands located some distance away from mainland Elysia in the Caprica Ocean. Known for their eye catching and life rich tropical environments the Celeste Islands are a natural paradise in the sea. That native people of the Celeste Islands, the Wakkan, have a deep history believed to be descended from ancient people from Laurasia that took to the seas in search of a new home. These islands became Elysian territory when they were claimed by an Elysian expedition fleet in 1876. A vacation destination those who can afford it flock to the Celeste Islands every year to enjoy the beaches and tropical rainforest that the Wakkan have lived among for generations. Bastian Culture The Bastian's are a very unique and multifaceted cultural group. A study of the entirety of Bastian culture would take longer then the pages of this manual allow so i will be going over things generally shared by most Bastian's and the most common traditions and cultural values. Bulky muscles are uncommon among Bastians and are generally considered an undesirable trait in Bastian culture as it ruins the "cute" image that is popular among Bastian youths. Bastian Popular Culture Perhaps the biggest part of Bastian culture as a whole is Bastian pop culture its the single most uniting factor among Bastians of all ages and backgrounds. Knows for its wacky aesthetics and eccentric pop icons Bastian pop culture has even begun catching the eye of Ylse and Wakkan youths. Music: Bastian music is perhaps the core of Bastian culture as a whole with musicians starting trends in art, fashion, and other forms of media. The most popular Bastian musicians are Idol groups who do performances all over Elysia for crowds of Bastians and Ylse alike. The single most common Bastian religion is the practices of the Sonja. Sonja beliefs aline themselves with the Gospel of The Great Mother. A simplified version of the words is printed here. ....It is said that long ago close to times beginning the mother of many things was born. She watched as the world was formed, and she saw the beginnings and endings of many creatures. The great mother wished to understand the creatures she watched. "Why do they go about their lives with such cheer since they come to an end so quickly?" She thought watching the creatures entire existence go by in the blink of an eye. Her honest wish to understand the creatures of this world caused a number of spirits to spring forth from her being in the shape of the animals that lived in that world. The spirits went out into the world and shared their hearts with the animals whose form they matched. The spirits gather knowledge of the lives of the animals and through the animals they learn about humans as well. Once an account of every life the spirits are able to reach comes to an end they will return to the Great Mother. And when the last spirit the fox returns she will have it end her life and this world will pass into the next age. In essence the Sonja believe that a connection to animals leads to a connection to The Great Mother, becoming close to animals in life means you will be able to come to the side of the great mother after your death. Those who find a place at the side of The Great Mother are given time to reconcile relationships and settle regrets from their life before the world passes into the next age. Because animals share the hearts of The Great Mothers Children Sonja have strict rules about the care and slaughter of farm animals for this reason there are a number of companies that sell meat and animal by products that are Sonja compliant. Sonja are also know to carry about totems or images of the specific spirit they have a closer connection to then the rest. This totem or image is always kept on their person somewhere. It is only brought out during personal prayer, prayer services, and during weddings and funerals. The practice of the Sonja is highly informal, Sonja attend monthly or bi monthly prayer services and the occasional special ceremony. Sonja services are very short and more often then not a Sonja is more likely to be going to church for an annual group meeting then anything specifically worship oriented. The most formal thing about Sonja is the Kaishi a Sonja exclusive greeting where you take your right hand and using your pointer finger start at your left shoulder and bring it across your upper body stopping just right of the middle roughly above your heart. This is done before entering church, after leaving church, before prayer, after meals where meat is consumed, before killing an animal, and in times of emotional distress or unease. Bastian Language The Last bit of Bastian culture i will be able to fit in my allotted space in this manual is an expert from a Eiglace (the Bastian Language) to English dictionary.
