Rob intended to side-step, grab one of the Private's arms and flip him onto the floor. And it would've worked too, if Westlake hadn't interrupted, shooting Rob in the back with a paintball gun. With a splash of green, Rob was vaulted forward, his mouth hitting against Emmanuel's skull, and together they went down.

Dazed, and registering the blood in his mouth, Rob mentally swore vengeance against Westlake. And then he noticed his rather precarious position, splayed out on the ground with Emmanuel on top of him. Emmanuel's face had landed buried into Rob's neck. He blushed, his breath shortened, his heart racing as he swallowed heavily, unable to move.

Emmanuel hissed as Oliver's teeth connected with his head, the pain too jarring to even laugh at Westlake's initiative. His hands scrabbled at Oliver's shirt, any semblance of grace lost as he tried not to topple backward with the major's weight.

He only had a moment to be thankful that it wasn't his body that had collided with the ground before he realized Major Oliver was right beneath him. "Well, is this fun, Major Oliver?" he breathed against his neck. He ran his hands down his sides, feeling how tense the other man was beneath him. His hands stopped at Oliver's hips.

"Let's do this again sometime." He pulled the flag out of his pocket with a flourish, letting the large fabric flap out in front of him just in case Westlake decided to fire off another paintball.

Rob lay still for a moment, attempting to catch his breath, trying to push away the tingling feel left from Emmanuel's hands running down his sides. He pulled himself to his feet, blood leaking out the side of his mouth.

"Hey woah," Westlake backtracked, spotting the blood, "Are you okay? I didn't mean to hurt you, I-"

Without a word, Rob decked Westlake across the face and stormed out of the Mess Hall, heading to the office to receive the flags.

Westlake reeled from the blow, working his jaw. That was going to bruise. But he counted himself lucky, he'd seen how hard Rob could actually hit and this was definitely a pulled punch. He sighed, wanted to follow the Major, but couldn't leave the Mess hall. His did have his duty, after all.

---

Rob crossed the grounds quickly, shaking partially in rage and partially in confusion. On the one hand, he wanted to punch Westlake again, although he wasn't terribly surprised that the nutjob would pull something like that. He just wasn't sure why. On the other hand, as much as he hated to admit it, he wanted to thank the crazy Doctor. Because...

Come on, admit it, just to yourself, nobody would ever really know.

He liked it. Emmanuel...

No.

He pushed the thought out of his head again, instead focusing on the pain in his mouth. He wiped the blood away with his sleeve.

He reached the office, and sat down hard at the receiving desk, awaiting the first of the flags to be brought in.

"Oh, well shit," Emmanuel said once he caught sight of Oliver's bleeding mouth. He was about to offer to kiss it better, but Oliver's fist was already reeling at Westlake's face. He winced at the impact, and then Major Oliver was storming away.

"Thanks Westy, I owe you one," he said sincerely, and he ran out the mess hall after Oliver with the flag as a sort of shield. The major was already practically halfway across the field by the time Emmanuel spotted him. Even though his face was spared, he hoped that Oliver wasn't mad at him. He'd just tried to play the game. Anyway, he'd been in the army for a long time if he was a major, he had to be used to pain, an it isn't even like he really lost.

Emmanuel shook his head as he reached the offices. I shouldn't be trying to justify it, I should just apologize. He walked into the building and scanned the nameplates on each door until he came to the one labeled "MAJOR ROBIN OLIVER." He knocked hard on the door.

Abby watched carefully from the roof of the girls washroom. She saw Major Rob storm across into the office, followed by was it Private Emmanuel?... Holding a bright orange flag...

"Dammit, I'm going to have to speed up while the gunners are distracted" she said to herself.

She quickly jumped down from the roof, make shift shield in hand, she dashed back to the kitchen and sprinted behind the Male Quarters, barely dodging a paint ball to her leg.

Damn, they know where I am...

She pinned her back to the wall and visualized a map of the base, judging whether she could make a jump from the Male quarter's roof to the Office Roof where the flag was.

Rob pulled off his yellow-brown jacket, revealing a simple black t-shirt, tsking at the paint splatter and dropped it onto the back of his chair.

And then he heard the knock, not surprised that somebody was trying to turn in a flag already- he imagined it was probably Abigail Jones. He'd be happy to receive her, Delta usually got the weird ones and she seemed relatively normal. A smile twitched onto his face, it hurt, and he immediately dropped into a frown. It wasn't the pain that bothered him so much, as it was the wounded pride and his bizarre reaction to the cheeky Private.

"Enter," he called.

Emmanuel swung the door open and closed it behind him before saying, "Sorry about your mouth, sir." With the apology over, he strutted over to Major Oliver's desk and planted himself onto one of the hard chairs in front of it. "All's fair in love and war, though, right?" He folded up the flag neatly before placing it onto the corner of the desk. He eyed Oliver's musculature through his black shirt as he leaned back in his chair. If there was no prize, he could be content with just this picture.

Abby stayed quiet. She heard a knock and decided this was her best chance to move.
She quickly scaled the Male quarters and army crawled near the edge.
Using the tray as a shield, she quickly blocked an incoming paint ball as she stood up.

She rushed the jump, landing a little loudly on the roof.
She quickly dropped to her stomach, grabbed the flag and wriggles over to the back edge of the roof.

She slid her torso over the edge, with just her legs on the roof she knocked on the small office window.

"My fault," Rob muttered. He should have anticipated Westlake's shenanigans. His head shot up at the love and war comment, a blush spreading across his face. He quickly snatched the flag off of the desk, and moved to open the window to allow Abigail in.

"I admire your out-of-the-box thinking," he stated to Emmanuel. "It'll come in useful, tomorrow."

Abigail smiled when Major Rob opened the window and handed him the flag before quickly slipping threw the small window.
she moved to the other side of his desk and politely saluted
Abby moved a little closer, frowning and the blood on his face and said quietly "Someone put a fake flag in front of your office"

Emmanuel's eyes widened in surprise when Abigail appeared upside-down in Major Oliver's window. He had to get her to teach him how to do that. She had gotten her flag nearly as fast as he had, and he had more or less cheated. He sat up a bit at Oliver's comment and gave Abigail a short wave. He wondered briefly what the point of the fake flag was, since only those who had a flag already would need to come to the office. But that wasn't important - the hinted-at event was.

"Tomorrow? What's happening tomorrow?" He drummed his fingers on the chair, eager to find out what other sorts of things would be going on.

Gene watched as Major Oliver storm out of the mess hall with a bruised jaw and a green paintball splatter. Gene smiled as Emmanuel followed shortly after with a flag. Though they only met today, he was glad the young man got a flag. He wasn't sure how the major would take it though.

He looked up at the roof of the office as the small redhead from earlier landed there with a thump. She was carrying a tray with bright pink paint splattered on it. Apparently they didn't count it as a hit. Would it be the same if you wore a coat and took it off if it got splattered? As she took the flag and knocked on the major's office window, Gene looked back across the field. Two down, three to go.

---

Some of the other flags are probably captured now. After an uneventful few minutes behind the garage, Elaine walked across behind the building to the armoury. There was a flag close to there that she could defend.

"Tomorrow we're going to the city," Rob explained, casually, folding the two flags together. He calmly regarded the expression on Emmanuel's face, and twitched a smile, raising the flags slightly. "Well you were asking earlier, what the prize was. Congratulations."

I really need to speak louder...

Abby listened to Major Rob and wondered why they were going to the city. They had just received a shipment earlier today.

She heard another barrage of paint balls
What a nasty trap... Abigail giggled.

"Whats our mission tomorrow? Retrieval or capture?" She asked barely above a whisper

"Scavenging," Rob replied, cocking an eyebrow. "Last group to the city spotted a hospital and we need to check it out, for medical supplies. Don't worry, I'm sure you guys'll do fine."

At least he hoped they will. He didn't know how much stuff there was left to scavenge, but the reports had stated that there was a good chance of at least finding something useful to send back to Alpha Base.
