Days of Scrundor runs on a modified version of Oversoul Games' Dice Chucker rule set; you may wish to read the Character Creation portion of the rulebook before you start, however here is a summary: We will be playing Level 5 characters. This means you have 5 hit points, and you have 10 attribute points. You use attribute points to 'buy' ranks in skills. These skills need to be fairly specific - there is a huge difference between fighting with a sword and fighting with an axe, so they would be different attributes. You may have any number of ranks in an attribute, up to your current level. You may also take Perks and Quirks. Perks and Quirks are either little bonuses or negatives. They are things which are too general to be an Attribute, but which still effect the game. Perks come with a cost in Attribute Points, while Quirks give you extra attribute points. If you want to use Perks and Quirks, you will need to discuss this with the DM via personal messages so that he can decide on an appropriate cost and rules for them. You can then fit the character out with any equipment which you think is appropriate - as long as the DM agrees! There are times when a man might have a pocket airship in his pocket, but it's up to the DM to approve such things! One good way of designing a character is to come up with a brief description first, and then work out attributes, perks and quirks which fit this description. You might also like to include a character portrait, and even pictures of weapons etc. Here's an example: 'Yellow' Boris 'Yellow' Boris was once a gambler and a thief in Tharabeck before his arrest. He was given a simple choice: death by hanging, or join the army. Being a cowardly man, Boris chose to join the army. He was captured by Orcs while running away from a battle. Skills: Swordsman: 3 Pick lock: 3 Pick pocket: 2 Search: 2 Throwing Knife: 2 Perks and Quirks: Coward: Boris is a coward and will always try to avoid fighting unless he has no option. (+2 Attribute Points) Possessions: Army Short Sword (DL 3) Army Shield (AL 1) 3X Throwing Knives (DL 2) Lock picks Army rucksack Dice |

You've gone over the limit on skill levels - you have a number of attribute points equal to twice your current pool. So 10. You've got a total of 10 levels in skills, which is fine. The problem is you then have a perk. Perks are good things, which means they come with a cost in attribute points. Getting rid of the perk wouldn't be an issue, since all it does is give a bonus to your sneak skills. Things like the ability to move silently are actually all part of the sneak skill, so you've really just doubled up anyway. If you make these adjustments, add a name and a little back story, we should be good to go. Can you plase start a new thread to post your character's details? It makes things easier from an organisational stand point. Instead of finding your character post in this thread everytime you have to add or remove inventory items etc, you can easily find your character thread. |
