Kira stood looking at the picture on her night stand. It had been two months since his death. Since she had lost her husband to the Banor. The war was finally over. Small skirmishes still happened here or there but for the most part Starfleet was left licking their wounds. 798,457 deaths was the final count leaving Starfleets numbers depleted. Families had been torn apart. Lela was pregnant but she and Danny seemed to be calling it quits. Jazmyn and Praxis were also seperated which tugged at her heart strings. Danny had left to go assist his brother with the rebuild of the Lima Fleet Marines. Which meant a new Marine CO would be assigned. Lela, Jazmyn, and Jenna had returned. Baj was on temporary leave with his wife and their twins. Kira was left to deal with the death of her husband and her youngest child of 6. The funeral had been beautiful, it had been a celebration of life. Pulling on her uniform she checked in with the Nanny that John was alright and headed for the bridge taking the back route into her Ready room she wasn't ready to face people yet. Therefor, to Marine Officer, Rodge W. Dehashi Starfleet Command Authority ---- Rodge sighed as he tossed the padd into the seat next to him on the shuttle. Someone would be a fool if they said the Bajor war didn't take it's toll. The Federation was bleeding out on nearly all sides and these last few months, they've only started to rise back to their knees. Alpha Fleet was in shambles, but were struggling to reorganize...Bravo fleet had fallen under the pressure and collasped, sending a large number of officers, marines and crewmen who had surivived back to Earth in ether one piece or half minded. Echo Fleet fought hard along side Alpha, but still experienced hard losses. However, no loss was greater than Lima Fleet. Seeing how Command Authority was setting up, they were splicing some of Echo resources between Alpha and Lima to help rebuild. Here, Rodge was be sent to Lima's Flagship, the USS Veroto. He only heard stories about the lives lost onboard of Lima's many ships, including the Veroto. However, heard their Marine CO had returned to Lima HQ to help restore the marines and in turn, Command decided to have Rodge head there in his place. "Were arriving sir." The shuttle pilot announced as he pulled closer to the view of the docked Veroto. A security checkpoint here, a walk from the port there, Rodge found himself standing before the gate to enter the Veroto. He took a slightly quivered breath before stepping on. He had no idea what this ship had lost...and he wasn't ready to find out the hard way. tag Open Report to moderator Issue a warning because of this message 50.36.32.209 (?) She had loved SM1 but at the same time she was glad to be home. She would still be a Marine but serving as the temporary Chief Engineer until her dad came back from leave. Her transfer had come after the new that she was expecting. She needed something less stressful and dangerous. Danny wasn't happy with her. They had been fighting constantly. She decided it was time for a break. She was kinda glad he had transferred to Leatherneck. Lela would also assume the 2nd in command of the Marines which would be her permanent position when her father returned she was nervous about meeting the new Marine CO. She headed for her quarters, they would be the same ones she had Danny had shared before, most of her stuff was still there. She dropped her bag and decided to head to engineering to check on the repairs. When she entered she was dismayed to find that it was in a huge state of disrepair her father would be highly upset if he was here but he wasn't they were on Bajor. Lela found the person who looked to be in charge. "Can I help you Marine?" the woman asked curtly. "Marine Captain Lela Hardfighter, temporary Chief Engineer. I need a report on what is being repaired" she said looking around trying to decide where to start. "Look Captain, you're a marine what the hell do you know about engines go back and play with your guns." the woman said. "I helped design and build this ship my father is the chief engineer and my mother is the commanding officer if you have an issue with me take it up with Flee Admiral Kira Phaserman because she assigned me here. Now report" The woman stopped and looked her over. "Engines are offline, cloak is disabled, most of the systems are down except life support and environmental controls the last fight really did a number on us." "Alright I want a staff meeting in 30 minutes so we can prioritize." "Yes ma'am" the woman said rolling her eyes. Report to moderator Issue a warning because of this message 75.26.230.61 (?) Veroto-A Jenna looked over at Isabella at 8 months old the child sat playing on the carpet with a few of her toys. Jenna was just finishing up dinner. She had talked to Kira and knew he would be getting off duty soon. Joseph had finished up the daily reports and stood from the Captain's Chair. He stretched some as beta shift came up and nodded to the one taking over. Heading for the turbolift he rubbed the back of his head, a bit tired as he ordered for his quarters. A few moments later the turbolift stopped and opened up. His tail twitched a little as he walked, a sign that he was tired and needed some sleep. Upon making it to his quarters, he hit the unlock code and stepped in, undoing the top of his uniform tunic and yawning loudly. Jenna smiled when she heard him enter she picked up Isabella and hurried over to the door. "Hello Honey" Jenna smiled. He had been rubbing his face when he heard the voice, along with a little girl giggling a bit. Wishing and hoping that this wasn't a dream, Joseph slowly pulled his hand away from his face and opened his eyes. Seeing her standing there with their daughter, his face lit up like a christmas tree. He smiled widely and spoke "Oh god... Your home!" starting to move close to her "Please tell me I am not still on the bridge asleep and dreaming..." "You're not dreaming baby, we are home to stay" Jenna grinned and embraced him balancing Izzy on one hip. Joseph wrapped his arms around her tightly, burying his face in her neck and inhaling her scent. The past few months had been hell, worse still without having her there. He sighed softly as his tail came up and wrapped around her waist "Thank god..." slowly he pulled back and smiled "Hello baby girl.." smiling as he reached up to touch her cheek. "Dada" Izzy squealed. "Kira had me transfered back, it seems shes had a lot of family transfered to the ship she wants us all close by. I will be heading up the Special Intelligance Taskforce and taking up the Chief intel position on the ship." Joseph smiled and bent down some, kissing his little girls cheeks softly. He then stood back up and spoke "She can talk.. When did that happen?" looking up in to his wifes eyes. He sighed softly and nodded "Yeah.. After everything that happened... I just.. I don't know babe.." she could see that it had been rough. He had barely even shaven the past few days, having grown quite a bit of stubble. He leaned forward and pressed his forehead against hers gently, letting his ears touch her head "I am so glad you are home baby..." "I'm glad to be home. As for her talking, she picks up words like a little sponge" Jenna stepped back and walked Izzy over to her play area setting her down the little one sat watching her parents intently. "She sits and crawls, working on the walking I'm sorry you've missed so much." Jenna said turning back to her husband and embracing him again. She kissed his lips, his jaw, his cheeks. "I've missed you so much" He kissed her back softly each time and rubbed her back gently. Joseph started lightly nipping her neck and ears softly as he whispered "I've more than missed you Jenna... I haven't slept a full night since you've left..." licking her lips lightly as he stood with her. "mmm we will change that tonight but right now you need to behave yourself there is a little one watching" Jenna smiled "Let's have some dinner and then we will get her in bed and I will be all yours" Joseph smiled softly and looked at their daughter. He nodded and spoke "i promise to behave." grinning as he held her close "Do you want a glass of blood?" slowly letting go to move to the fridge. "Yes, I already warmed some up on the stove there should be a sippy cup on the counter for Izzy" Jenna said picking the little girl up and setting her in her high chair. Jenna sat beside her and picked up the girls ravioloi "I made ravioloi for all of us" she said cutting it into small pieces and handing the child the spoon then placed the bowl on her tray. Joseph proceeded to start pouring some blood in to the sippy cup for their daughter. He made sure it wasn't too cold or warm for her before putting the lid on it and walked over. He kissed his daughters head and spoke "here you go my sweet little princess." he smiled and stood back up "that sounds great babe." grinning as he began pouring out their glasses as well. "Dada" Izzy said as she took a bite of food. "Dada dada dada" Jenna smiled, "I think shes missed you" Joseph smiled and sat close to his daughter. He reached over and stroked her cheek softly as he spoke "I've missed you too princess." he grinned widely and looked back to Jenna "I missed both of you baby.." "We missed you too Earth was so dull I hated being a paper pusher" Jenna laughed a little. Joseph laughed softly as he sat there. He sat back and sipped at his blood before he spoke "Did you see my father at all on Earth? I haven't heard from him in a while..." he looked at his wife as he sat there, it was obvious he was a bit worried. "Jon is well he has a new girl friend she seems really nice he stopped by while they were having repairs done to the POA." Jenna said sipping her glass. He furrowed his brow and spoke "Repairs? What happened?" tilting his head to the side as he watched her. "Skermish with the last of the Banor, it was an ambush while they were hunting a terroist cell. Nothing major." He sighed lightly and nodded before he spoke "Okay.. As long as he is alright." He moved in and started to eat some of the raviolis as they sat together. Joseph reached forward and took her hand in to his, squeezing gently "I am very happy you are home finally Jenna.. I think I missed you more than I have every missed anyone.." "I love you honey, I missed you like crazy. It's good to be back out in the stars. It's where I belong" she squeezed his hand and smiled. Joseph squeezed her hand back lightly and ate the rest of his raviolis quickly. Drinking down his blood slowly, he turned to watch their daughter play a bit with her food before eating it and sipping at her blood. The little girl yawned and looked very tired. Slowly Joseph stood up and spoke "lets get you ready for bed hmm? maybe a bath baby girl?" taking her out of the high chair and in to his arms, still wearing his uniform top. "I'll get her pjs and bed set up while you do that" Jenna said picking up the dinner dishes and rinsing them in the sink before heading for their daughters room. She took out pjs from the girls suitcase she hadn't had time to unpack yet. She then pilled out the bedding and started to make her crib. Joseph had taken her to the bathroom and gotten her stripped down. He got her in to the bath and played around with a rubber ducky with her. It took him almost a half an hour but he finally got her clean and dressed back. When finished he got her dried off and a new diaper on her, pulling her tail through the hole as he spoke "There we go! all clean and squeeky!" grinning. He carried the still yawning girl to her bedroom. Izzy clung to him some before starting to fall asleep. Joseph looked at Jenna and spoke "Got her crib and pjs ready?" "Yep" Jenna took Izzy and put her PJ's on her then picked her up and lay her in the crib covering her with her fave blanket. She rubbed the girls back a little and she fell asleep. Jenna help a finger to her lips and tip toed out the door. Joseph watched his daughter for a few moments longer, taking his time to watch her before heading out of the room. He let the door slide silently shut and whispered softly "Shes so beautiful..." looking back at the door. "She is, looks just like her dad" Jenna stripped off her uniform jacket and tossed it on the back of a chair. She moved over to her husband and wrapped her arms around his neck before kissing him deeply. I'm all yours." Joseph slowly wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her tight to his body. He kissed her back just as deeply, letting his tongue brush against her lips before he whispered "I've dreamt of this moment for months..." smiling as he started to walk her backwards towards the bedroom. "mm me too" she said walking backwards until she hit the bed with the back of her legs and she fell backwards bringing him with her. Jenna couldn't believe he was there that she had him to herself as cloths fell away they made love like it had been decades rather then months since they had been together. FADE TO BLACK. She made her way to the marine deck and stopped outside the CO's office. This used to be Danny's office suddenly she was very sad. She rang the chime and when she heard him bade her to enter she stepped in and stopped three paces from the desk snapped to attention and rendered a salute. "Captain Lela Hardfighter reporting in sir" Rodge's back was facing her as he was standing, staring at the desk of the office. After calling in the Captain that stepped in he turned around to greet her and nodded. It was only about 20 minutes since he arrived to the office before someone reconized that he was onboard. "At ease Captain." He said extending his hand out for a shake after spotting her collar. "Major Rodge Miller." He introduced himself Lela shook his hand she went to parade rest. "Nice to meet you Major. I'll be your XO. If you need anything, a tour or what not let me know I grew up on this ship even helped design it. I will also be acting Chief Engineer until my father... I mean Commodore Tellok returns from leave so I will be bouncing back and forth." 'The daughter of Commodore Tellok?' he thought to himself. First big surprise for him already. "I heard that this was a highly experimental ship." He commented. "I may need a tour later, but not right yet...i'm still getting accustomed." He said gently before looking back at the desk. "Command was in a hurry to send me over here so I wasn't able to get any information on the crew or the battlion...how strong are we?" He asked "We are a small special operations devision. 90 people 10 Officers the rest are enlisted. Gunny Alicia Fuller is the senior enlisted shes a hard ass but fair. 1st lt Richards is a good man and a good squad leader. We work hard and as a team always." Lela said a little proud. "Everyone has a specialty. I am a sniper and explosive ordanace." He couldn't help but smile at the tone in her voice. "Strong unity..that's a good sign." He said, espcially at this time. "Looks like we got a common ground." He added in comment. "except, I put explosives down, not removed them." "May I speak freely?" Lela asked "go ahead. In private no need to ask." He said, gently crossing his arms "You have big shoes to fill Major, my husband General Hardfighter was a damn good CO. The people here love him so don't expect them to take to you right away. They will treat you with respect but its going to take them awhile to trust you." Lela said gently "I'm well aware, Captain." He commented before turning back to face the desk. "..I've been here for almost half an hour, and I've kept myself from sitting into that chair." He said. "Are we able to call the marines to assembly?" He asked "Yes, this deck is strictly for Marines, Officers have their own quarters but Enlisted have one large barracks." Lela moved around the desk. "This button right here patched you ship wide, this one just the marine deck" she showed him the buttons. She keyed the one for the deck. "Marines fall in on the parade deck" she said then released the button. He memorized the button positions for when they'll be useful and then looked up as she called in the marines to the parade deck. "I'll keep that in mind." He said Lela nodded, "I will show you around the deck after we are done. You will need to know where everything is. Have you found your quarted yet?" She asked her tail swished back and forth and her feline ears ****ed a little. "I have not just yet." He said, just now noticing that she had cat ears. Catian serving both Engineering and Marine XO, he was actually quite surprised. "Hopefully I'll get used to the ship quickly." "I'm not Catian" Lela smiled reading the mans mind, "I am Romulan, Bajoran, Klingon, and half Kntarian and I am a vampire.” He shook his head at the sudden surprise response. "A mind reader, Romulan, Bajorian, Kta..." He stopped losing the trail of his words to his mind. "That's quite a mix." He said. He thought he saw everything, but this is definitely took a new slice of cake "My mom is Fleet Admiral Kira Phaserman so I am half Kntarian and shes also a vampire. My father is Romulan, Klingon, and Bajoran and now a vampire" "Now I'm starting to wonder how that mix came about.." He commented as he tried to put two and two together on the family line but dared not to cross it for now. "where's the parade grounds by the way?" He asked "Follow me" Lela led the way out of the office right onto the parade deck. "Company attention" She called. Everyone snapped to attention. "All yours major" Miller watched as the Company snapped in a unified click. 'Here goes nothing..' he thought to himself as he looked forward. He wasn't a mind reader, but he could tell they were questioning to his presence. "I'm Major Rodge Miller..I've been transfered from Echo Fleet's 'Lionheart' 27th Assault Battlion aboard the USS Valkyre Sword...and from this point until further notice, I will be your Commanding Officer." He introduced himself. He could see many of their faces taking a dislike to the annoucement just as he had expected. "...I...havn't had the opptunity..or the prilvage to meet or speak with General Hardfighter...other than my understanding that he was more than a good man and even greater Marine. The legacy he has left here is seen all around us and on the faces of many of you here. That is something I will never be able to touch." He paused. "I'm not asking to be your friend, I'm not asking that you accept me as a leader...and I know for sure, I will never be someone as great as General Hardfighter...however I only ask that you trust me enough as the brother in the foxhole with you...that I will step before death himself first before another tragdy befalls this ship or her crew." Lela listened and took in the sites of the Marines, some where hurt, some where distrust, some angry, some resigned. She caught site of Gunny Fuller and watched her. She shifted and caught Lela's glance she nodded ever so slightly. "I'll be serving as the Marine XO" she said then looked over at the Major. "Anything else for the troops?" He looked to her and nodded looking back at them. "I know it's hard everyone...just know I've been where your standing on more than one occasion." He said finally. "Team leaders...continue as you are...but deliever a report on your unit asap. Everyone, do your best to stay sharp, ready and lethal. That is all." He finished and looked to Lela to dismiss the company for right now. He could tell that this was probably going to be a rough start "Company dissmissed" Lela called "how about I show you around?" she asked as they all fell out. "Thank you" He said with a nod for the show around as the sounds of clattered boots echoed the parade area "Let's start with everyones fave place" Lela led the way a cross the parade deck to the armory. "This will be the armory, all weapons are stored here... at least for enlisted folks Officers get to keep theres you should see the gun rack I've got." He looked around. The Armory was definitly nicely kept. The smell of ammo brought a smile to his face. "I bet it is a nice rack in deed." He said, spying some of the weapons that were displayed on some of the lockers "If you ever need anything speak with Staff Sgt Monty he will hook you up" Lela said then headed back out. "I'll show you the holodecks for training and the obstical course next." she led him out into the corridor and headed left. "Everything we need is on this deck. We even have a swimming pool." He followed the beautiful Captain towards the training holodecks, taking note of direction and distances between everywhere. "A swimming pool? First ship I've heard to have that" "There are two pools on the ship one for rec one for us." Lela stopped outside the holodecks. "These are for training simulations and also rec during off hours. She kept going and stopped outside another room she opened the door. "Obstical course" she said showing him the spacious deck. She exited out and went further down. "The pool" she said gesturing. She took another corridor and then turned right at a junction. "This is the Enlisted Mess, Officers mess is right a cross from it" she gestured It was alot to take in. This ship was larger than it it looked. The Marine country was definitly a resort to Marines for all their needs. It was also very perfect for scenaro trainning as well as places for the Marines to confer with each other. "...I'm guessing the marines wanted to kill me when they heard I was stepping in." He said, as the thought shown up "No not kill persay they just don't know what to make of everything. A lot of change" Lela said leading him through the maze. She stopped outside a door. "These are your quarters." she said opening the door. "This ship has 38 decks and a lot going on we are like our own floating country here." "No kidding." He said in agreement. He had an idea where alot of everywhere was so he should be fine for wondering around. Looked into his quarters. "This is definitly the Flagship of Lima" "Yes, very much so." Lela stepped in his quarters. "The Marine quartermaster is out and to the left all the way at the end if you need anything. I recommend bringing chocolate chip cookies preferably home made and you get hooked up quicker." He chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind." He said before stepping in past the threashold. He stopped before turning around. "what about your opinion..?" He asked. He had an idea of where everyone else is..but what of his XO? Lela sighed, "My husband and I are seperated, I'm pregnant and working two jobs. I honestly don't care. Don't **** it up and we can be god friends. Just don't try and change to much this company works good together I recommend doing some drills see how they all work together and go from there" 'I would never change whats been set in stone here.' He thought before nodding. "I'll definitly do that once settled in. Thank you Captain." He said 'I would never change whats been set in stone here.' He thought before nodding. "I'll definitly do that once settled in. Thank you Captain." He said "You're welcome, if you need anything else let me know I'll let you get settled in." Rather than being loaded down with missiles, torpedoes, and bombs, they carried cargo pods. Also along with the fighters were a quartet of large shuttlecraft. Marine Starfighter Squadron 99, or VMF-99, also known by their nickname "Satan's Kittens", was transferring to USS Veroto. 12 Tomcat Starfighters and 12 pilots, plus a support staff of 60 marines who maintained the flying craft. In command, and flying lead in her starfighter, was Colonel Kristen McQueen. Her record indicated she was the leading surviving ace of the Banor War, a designation that bothered her. She would gladly have taken the title of second highest scoring ace, if it meant she didn't need to step into the shoes filled by Colonel Gary Phaserman. Kristen and Gary had a friendly rivalry between them, constantly jockeying for the best record in the war, and it carried over to their fighter wings, too. Although McQueen's fighter wing out of Starbase Leatherneck had accumated 8 more kills than Phaserman's had, Gary had bested her by two kills before being shot down. Now, her Satan's Kittens were relieving his Eagle Squadron aboard Veroto. "Approaching home plate, slow to impulse and tighten it up." McQueen ordered. "USS Veroto, Kitten 100 approaching, 12 fighters and 4 support craft total." "Kitten 100, Veroto Control, you are cleared for approach." "Thanks, Control." Kristen said, then to her pilots, as they slowed from several dozen times the speed of light to a speed of 35,000 miles per hour, "Form by flights, Diamond of Diamonds parade formation. We'll pass to port, turn across the bow, then down the starboard side before breaking for recovery. Shuttles first, then the fighters." Kristen's two flight leaders checked in. Leading 2 flight was Major Lizzie Hanson, the squadron's executive officer and Kristen's wife. Leading 3 flight was Captain Matt Capaldi. "Control, Kitten 100, We are going to pass in review before recovery." "Control acknowledges. Keep it high, the Admiral is in her quarters." The controller said, then asked the bridge to pass the word of the flyby. The flyby went smoothly, the pilots keeping a tight formation in the diamond of diamonds, passing both sides of the ship with a 45 degree inside bank, known as a knife-edge pass. Coming past the stern, the shuttles lined up for recovery first. "One flight, finger four on me, one more pass. 103, on my command break vertical." Kristen's lead flight came around again, this time looping wide and coming in across Veroto's beam, passing the Admiral's quarters first. At 500 meters out, Kristen said simply, "Break on pass." As the fighters passed over the ship, 103 pulled vertical and accelerated away. She hoped performing a "Missing Man" wasn't overstepping it as she landed. "Get settled in, we'll meet up in 2 hours." Kristen ordered, leading Lizzie to report in. Tag. Col. Kristen McQueen Starfighter Commander Report to moderator Issue a warning because of this message 50.179.244.43 (?) He was just a tad shorter then her with red hair and a neatly trimmed goatee. “Yes they are” he said turning to look at her. “Lt. Commander Kevin Murphy” he said extending his hand. Lela smiled. “Marine Captain Lela Hardfighter Acting Chief Engineer” she said shaking his hand. “Welcome to the USS Veroto Commander.” “Thank you Captain, it's a pleasure to be here with all ya'll” he said with a bit of a southern twang. She laughed, “You say that now but I'll ask you again in a couple days after I've had you working double shifts to get the ship back up and running” “I can start now just give me some duct tape” he returned her smile. Lela shook her head smiling. “Well if you are ready to get started, the engines are just coming back up but the cloak is still down, I know many engineers don't have experience with cloaks but I can work with you.” Lela handed him the PADD in her hand. “Most of our critical systems have been repaired the Admiral would like us to shove off in the morning so we have 6 hours to get the cloak back up and running I could use a hand if you're up for it.” “Lead the way ma'am” he said he watched her as she turned away it was at the point he noticed the feline ears and the tail. It was swaying back and forth he watched it for a moment mesmerized. “What's the matter Commander never seen a woman with a tail before” she flicked it back and forth right in front of his face. “No, only ever seen squirrels and cats.” he said his eyes following her tail. “Think of me as an over grown feline with more intelligence, just watch out I do have claws” she winked. He was speechless his mouth dropped open a little and his head titled to the left. Lela laughed and sauntered over to the jeffries tube. “Coming Commander?” she asked. “I'm coming... this is just so new” he said walking over and climbing in the tube behind her. “You get used to the crazy I promise” she said as she crawled on her hands and knees an engineering kit slung over her body. Her tail was an inch away from his face. He thought about it for a second then reached up and pulled it. Lela whipped around as fast as she could in the confined space. She stopped and hissed at him her fangs bared. “I wouldn't do that again Commander” she leaned closer and whispered “if you do your gonna get ****ed.” “Then quit moving your tail in my face tuck it between your legs or something or I will pull it again” he said holding his ground. Lela growled, “I will not tuck my tail between my legs, keep your distance if you don't want it in your face.” she said defensively. Kevin stopped and burst out laughing. Lela looked at him for a second like he was crazy as hell then started laughing too. “Get used to the felines Commander, there are a lot of us on the ship.” “How much further Captain?” he asked trying to stop laughing. “Just up at the next junction” she said then turned back and led the way. She turned right at the junction then sat back and opened a panel. She hit her combage. “Hardfighter to engineering shut down power to junction JN17192.” she said. “Acknowledge power shut down” came the disembodied voice. Lela unslung the kit and opened it. “Pass me the spanner” she said as she started to unscrew the damaged conduit. “Here ya go” he said handing it to her. Lela took it and handed him the busted conduit. “Where ya from?” she asked trying to make conversation as they worked. “Knoxville Tennessee” he said taking the conduit and placing it in the kit. “You?” “I was born on the USS Slipsteam my mom was the Chief Tactical Officer.” Lela said “Then the war broke out and she rose through the ranks so I grew up on the first USS Veroto before mom destroyed it.” Lela said as she worked. “How did your mom destroy it?” he asked. Lela explained the story of her mom using her ship to destroy an enemy ship. “We were planet side for awhile but Dad... I mean Commodore Tellok and I had been working on the design for this ship for awhile it's the first and only of it's kind, highly experimental. Wait till you see the Beta Engineering. Have you had a chance to study the specs?” she asked setting the spanner down and reaching in to remove some fried wiring. “Not yet, I got the assignment yesterday and just got here today.” he said handing her the new wiring then conduit. Lela put them into place then called engineering to turn the power back on. The conduit hummed to life and she pulled her tricorder out to make sure the power was running smoothly. “That should about do it should be able to get the cloak back online. Have you eaten?” she asked looking at him as she packed up their tools. “Not since yesterday.” he admitted. “Let's go grab some breakfast.” she said with a smile. “I'll let you go first hate to have my tail hit you in the face.” Kevin laughed, “Yes ma'am” Joint post Between Marine Captain Lela Hardfighter Acting Chief Engineer Marine Executive Officer USS Veroto-B AND Lt. She shook her head that was not good on them. She looked up as the chime rang. "Come in" sean_jose2: Rodge had finally placed his bags down in his quarters before he went to go meet the captain. The moment he heard the vocal command from Kira to enter the room he took a deep breath before allowing the doors to open and reveal himself. He stepped inside and saluted the seated commander. "Major Rodge Miller, reporting in." He said. He stoodby and awaited for the reaction to her finding out he was the new Marine Commander. "Welcome Major" Kira said standing and shaking his hand. Kira gave him a once over he like her was armed. She liked this, war had changed her and now she didn't feel right with out a phaser on her hip. "Have a seat." she said, "Can I offer you anything?" He shook the Admiral's hand and took his seat gently. "Um..Coffee if you have it" He said taking her offer. She been in the hellfire recently he thought to himself as he took in her stance, as was his knowledge to noticing little things like that "Course black I assume?" she said as she ordered two cups of black coffee from the replicator. "Welcome to the Veroto" she said setting the cups on her desk. "I am glad you are here Major I have been watching your career for quiet sometime." "Oh?" He said alittle surprised to response as he took his cup and lightly sipped on the coffee. He hated Coffee honestly, but he drunk as a way to continously keep his mind from wondering and concentrate on the smell instead of the bitter taste. "Yes yes, distiguised service medal, three purple hearts your a hell of a Marine Officer I requested you" she said sitting on the edge of her seat at the ready, she was constantly on edge these days. sean_jose2: "All comes with the job, ma'm." He said as he took another sip of the coffee and sat it down. "I take it that things are still aleant on the rough side with the restructuring." He said kira_phaserman: "Yes, small skermishes have been popping up the Banor don't wanna quit and with how devistated we are by the war there is always the possiability someone will take advantage. Like this new terrorist cell that has popped up I am sure you heard of my "death" while I was undercover." she said watching him "Aye, there was more than a few heart attacks at hearing about it over at Echo." He said. kira_phaserman: "I'm sure there were." Kira sighed, "I am sure you have met Captain Hardfighter I hope she wasn't too hard on you." "On the contrary, I believe she might be the only thing standing between the battlion and them skinning my scalp." He said with a slight sigh. "It's a pretty big shadow I'm standing in right now." He said "Daniel was a good CO but you will win them over." Kira said sipping her coffee again. "We are going on a diplomatic mission but everything I have heard has me skeptical. I want you and your men to be on high alert. You will be accompanying the diplomats but I want you and a few hand selected to be out of uniform, concealed carry, and be ready for anything you will be passed off as diplomatic aids so make sure they are aware of that say 4 people and yourself." "yes ma'm" He said. The first operation being a dipomat operation with UC protection. "What makes this strange?" He asked "Honestly, call it an Admirals intuition. I have read about them helping the out laying colonies. They are a spieces that look like old Earth Angels. They offer everything yet ask for nothing. They call themselves gods helpers but it appears they are inserting themselves into the government positions. I don't know what to make of this. It sounds fishy." "aye...good thing you got some food fishers." He said taking another sip of the coffee. "We'll keep an eye on them" "Good if you need anything let me know. I know some CO's don't care for their marines but here you are part of our family." Kira said gently He nodded. "It seems like it might be a moment before they get used to calling me apart of the family." He said. "But I promised...no marine is dying here unless I die first." He said. "As much as you would like to promise that you can't I have learned over the years that people die under you and their is nothing you can do about it. People die in our line of work Major. It's just a fact of life." Kira sighed. "Yea...doesn't mean I can't try." He said as he sat the coffee down again. "I know people'll die...but I try to make sure they don't die for no reason..." He said looked at the Admiral. "Those boys and girls are hurting....Marines are strong...tough...but it's mental attacks that leave the bigger scars..." He paused for a moment. "As a marine yourself I can see those scars in your eyes...and as a leader, even bigger scars overlay them...It must be difficult Admiral..." He said softly. "I've never been a marine Major. No I am just a Starfleet Admiral but it is on my orders that those die. As a leader, I try to be strong. Yes I hurt, I bleed like everyone else. I know this crew has suffered a lot. No one has last more then the crew of the Veroto. My husband was killed two months ago by the Banor. That being said, we have to continue on, we have to live and protect the people of the Federation. The wolves are at the door Major and we are all soliders. We are all on the same side no matter the uniform we ware we fight, sleep, eat, and bleed together." Kira said leanign forward a little in her seat. He nodded taking her words in and digesting them deeply in soft silence "Now if there is nothing else I have reports to go over." she said gently. "Yes ma'm." He said snapping out of it. "I'll give a rundown on the department and supplies on eqiupment and I'll have a list of what's needed together soon." He said "Good turn them into the executive officer Commodore Joesph Frost." she said "Again welcome abored Major I am sure you will do just fine." she shook his hand again before dismissing him. He nodded as she shook his hand. "Thank you ma'm." He said with a quick salute before turning around to exit the Office, but not before running into Zaro who was just about to ring her chimes. "oh excuse me." He said at the sudden man that appeared on the otherside. Zaro looked at the Major and nodded. "no worries I do it all the time." He said as he stepped aside to the let the Major out before stepping in. "Admiral" He said "Zaro, welcome home how was your leave?" Kira asked gesturing for him to sit. "Everything but relaxing." He said as he stepped in and took a seat. "Hard to honestly." "I understand did you at least get back to see your family?" she asked sean_jose2: "Yea. Well..that was the funner part of my leave at least." He said. "how you holding up?" He asked looking up at her "I'm alive" she said shrugging. "we all are which is a good thing...on some circles.." He said. "so when we going back into the star ocean?" He asked "In the morning after the Staff Briefing. Engines were still down last I heard that last fight did a number on us." Kira said handing him the report. "Might wanna get on Engineerings ass" she said with a small smile Zaro grinned as she handed him the report and he skimmed over it. "I definitely shall if we have any lag after that time." He said before looking back up at the Admiral. "Hey, just hang in there alright?" He said. "I will thank you Zaro, go get settled in 0700 for the meeting" she said "Aye ma'm." he said as he stood up to turn and leave. "it's good to be back." Cam stood in the main area of his and Abby's home while looking out the window, He had just dropped the kids off at school and gotten ready for work. He knew that the Banor war had been tough on everyone with the Veroto, He didn't want to think of it as his mind then drifted to thoughts of his darling wife Abby. It had been tough without her around but He did his best keeping things together. Good thing He was not a drinker otherwise He would have lost it a few times or many other times right in front of the kids. Cam just wanted her home but He knew that as soon as she arrived back on board the Veroto, She would head to the Bridge wanting to see Kira. Checking the time, Cam thought He better head out for work, He knew there would be new people joining the Veroto now and He wanted to make sure things were ok at his post before checking things elsewhere. ON: Executive Officer's Quarters | U.S.S. Veroto Joseph looked up when he heard the door chime ring. He made a bit of a face, hoping it wasn't too loud so as to wake up his daughter. Rushing to the door he opened the door and smiled as he saw his sisters. He opened his arms and spoke "Lela!!" "Joseph!" Lela hugged him. "I heard Jenna is back" "Hello Joseph" Jazmyn said through pursed lips "Got a minute to talk?" Joseph held Lela close for a moment and smiled "Yeah, shes asleep at the moment though.. I got up to do some paperwork." he said to Lela. turning to Jazmyn he furrowed his brow and spoke "Yeah. I do have a few minutes Jazmyn.. Though is a hug for your little brother such a bad thing?" opening his arms to her. Jazmyn hugged him quickly, "May we come in?" He sighed gently and nodded "Yeah. Come in. Just keep your voices down. My daughter is still asleep." He looked back to Lela, looking as though he was wondering whats up. After letting them in he spoke softly "Oh. And next time Jazmyn? Try to keep your opinions of me to yourself when your in the corridors. If I could hear you through my door imagine how many crewmembers walking around did." falling in to his Executive Officer persona. Jazmyn frowned, "You may be the executive officer but I answer to Fleet Admiral Kira Phaserman and only here I am not an offical member of the crew." Jazmyn said then added "and I out rank you" she stopped keeping her voice low. "I am here because I am worried about our mother, not as a CO but as a woman she's suffered a great loss but she is keeping herself isolated." Joseph's tail flicked about in an irritated fashion, his ears flattening a bit. He ignored what she had said about their mother and stepped forward "You may have seniority and you may not be an official member of the crew. But I will not have a Starfleet Officer, much less my sister, badmouthing me in front of the crew. Show some professionalism." Before stepping away from her. Turning to Lela he spoke, adressing the fact about their mother "I've been trying to talk to her... But after losing Gary shes kind of shut down... Just going through the motions. I am doing what I can to help.. But its taking its toll on her.." Lela looked up as Jenna and Isabelle came out all dressed. "Hey Jenna" "Lela, Jazmyn good to see you guys sounds like you have stuff to work out. We will head out and let you guys work it out" Jenna kissed her husband and left. Lela looked over at her siblings. "Okay you two, lets not turn this into a pissing match, I am pregnant and therefore the only one allowed to be really pissy. What ever is going on between you two can wait. Our mother is suffering and we have to do something about it for everyones sake. So what the hell are we going to do about it?" Joseph kissed his wife and daughter before watching them leave, he wished he could of had a bit more time this morning with them. He turned back to Lela and nodded a bit as he spoke "Alright." He made up some coffee and got a blood packet out "Want some Lela?" before pouring a cup of regular coffee for Jazmyn. He then spoke softly "The only thing I can think of is we force her to take a leave of absence. I think she needs time to herself, not running a ship." Jazmyn shook her head, "I don't think that is the answer, mom has always been one to throw herself into work. Maybe we need to... force her to be around people." Lela nodded, "Not just any people, her family. The staff on this ship not just her children are her family. Abby, Cam, Baj, all of us. I think we all need to make an effort to spend time with her show her we care and support her." Joseph nodded a bit as he stood there sipping on his coffee, thinking a bit. His ears twitched a little as he spoke "I would have to say you are correct... But the thing is I have been trying... Its almost like shes pulling a Janeway here... I think it will take all of us just to get her out of the Ready Room.." "hmm" Lela looked at him and smiled "Or a couple vampires. You, me, Jenna, Baj, and Mara" Joseph laughed a bit as he stood there and shook his head "How? giving her a sacrifice of blood?" laughing some as he shook his head. He then spoke "I am not sure what just us could do Lela.." "The we get the rest of the family involved. Or hell lets get her laid something to help her." Lela glowered her tail twitching back and forth quickly in agitation. "Honestly Lela you think getting her laid is the answer" Jazmyn rolled her eyes. "Your still just a child you don't understand" "I am not a child!" Lela huffed and glared at Jazmyn. She looked over at Joseph for a little back up. Joseph shook his head a bit as he stood there "If getting mom laid was all it took then we should call up my father... But I don't think thats going to solve this... Mom lost the man she loved in one of the few worse ways possible... I was on the bridge when it happened. She watched that fighter break up. Transporters were down, his cockpit ejection system was fried..." He sighed and rubbed his face a bit before he spoke "We should all sit down with her. Let her have one hell of a good cry... And that means we all need to be there, and getting along." looking pointedly at Jazmyn "That means no fighting or anything. No hating on each other." Jazmyn sighed, "I'm sorry you're right. Why don't we head up to her ready room and talk to her." Joseph nodded softly as he stood there. He headed to his room as he spoke "Give me a minute..." After almost five minutes, he came out freshly washed and dressed. He itched behind his ear slightly and spoke "Alright. Lets go. Ill contact Jenna on the way." looking between his two sisters "Or did you want to wait?" "Why don't the three of us try first we are her children" Lela said Joseph nodded a bit as he stood there and spoke "Alright. Lets get going then. Just the three of us." He offered his hand to Lela, understanding that Jazmyn wouldn't want to touch him. Lela took Joseph's hand and they headed for the bridge. "I'm glad you have Jenna and the baby back you two seem to be doing well" She said in way of conversation as they walked. Joseph squeezed his little sister's hand gently as they walked. He spoke while looking at her "I am happier than I have been in a long while... It makes me feel whole having them back. I missed my wife and daughter..." He turned to look at Jazmyn and spoke "Even though we don't like each other much, it is good to see you again Jazmyn." "It's not that I don't like you" Jazmyn said grudingly. "You're my brother." Joseph looked back to his sister and nodded a bit “I suppose..” He made it to the turbolift with the two of them and spoke “Bridge.” when they entered to turbolift. He squeezed Lela's hand gently for a moment before letting go, starting to fall in to his XO train of thought again. Lela and Jazmyn stood behind Joseph when the doors opened they walked to the Ready Room as Zaro was walking out. Lela didn't bother with the chime she walked in. "Hey mom got a moment for your kids?" Kira looked at each of her three children each ones thoughts unreadable someone was shielding Jazmyn. "Yes" she said leery standing up. She walked over to the couches by the window. "Have a seat whats up?" she looked at each of them. Joseph walked over to the couch and sat down with his sisters as he spoke “Well... The truth of it is mom... We are worried about you... You've kept yourself holed up in this Ready Room since before we made it to drydock.. Its not healthy momma...” his ears flattening a bit. "What he means to say is, you need to be out and around people Mom. We love you deeply but you're not the only one that lost him. We need you and you need us." Jazmyn said gently Kira pursed her lips then looked at Lela waiting for her to speak when she didn't Kira spoke. "Is this how you feel as well little one?" Kira asked. "Oh screw it, yes but I am not as tactful as my brother and sister here. You're being stupid and selfish. Jazmyn and I are seperated from our spouses. Dad and Mara may not even come back after what happened he's not on leave hes in the fucking hospital. I'm pulling double duty and pregnant, Jazmyn lost her command we both lost our adoptive father the only one of us that has had any sort of happy news is Joseph and that's because his wife and kid are back but god knows how he has suffered while they have been away and in the past year we have thought we lost you, Jenna, and Jonathan and had to deal with that but we delt with it together. Stop holing yourself up in this god damn place and get out there. Get laid for goddess sake if it will help but stop wallowing in self pity it's not becoming of the new Kntarian Empress." Lela said then looked around at the shocked expressions. "What I'm a marine we arn't known for tact." Kira cleared her throat, Lela was the only one of her children that knew that Kira had become the new empress after her mother's death. Kira had been mourning two deaths in silence. She didn't know what to say she looked from one of her children to the next. Joseph furrowed his brow as he sat there looking at his little sister. He growled gently and spoke “Mom...Why didn't you say anything?” He stared into her eyes as he looked back to her. “You didn't tell me grandma died... Why didn't you say anything?” Feeling a bit upset now after having heard that from Lela. "You already had enough on your plate, for your information" she looked at each of them. "I have been holed up in here trying to run an empire from a ship. I've had a lot to do. Yes, I am grieving the loss of my husband and my mother I hardly knew. I have a lot on my plate running a fleet and an empire." she said matter-of-factly. "I don't need to get laid. "As for your father Lela. I wish there was more I could do. That explosion in Engineering did a number on him and unfortunatly even his vampiric abilities are having a hard time keeping up they have to keep him on a steady supply of blood there was so much radiation if he hadn't been a vampire it would have killed him. I keep in touch with Mara and updated on his situation several times a day. I have a feeling you all feel as Lela does, I am sorry I haven't been there for you guys. It is entirely selfish of me to want to handle my affairs of my own accord. I will try to be there for you all as much as I can." Joseph's ears were still flattened against his skull and his tail was flicking back and forth a bit. He sighed softly and spoke “We love you mom.. You need to know that.. We want to see more of you.” he stood up to move over to her. He leaned down and wrapped his arms tightly around her, squeezing a bit more roughly than he meant to as he spoke “We all need each other.” Kira hugged her son back "Look I'm sorry I'm just tired and tense." I will try to be around more" she said regretting being so short with them. "We have a staff briefing in an hour I need to prepare. I will see you there but please let me finish my work. How about a family dinner tomorrow evening at 1800?" she proposed. "I'll be there" Lela said. "Yeah sounds good Alexis wants to see her grandmother she will like that." Jazmyn nodded. Joseph smiled and nodded “I'll be there too with Jenna and Isabelle. I know Isabelle wants to see her grandmother as well.” he grinned a bit as he kissed her cheek “I'll see you in an hour mom. I love you.” "Love you all too see you all in an hour" Kira said and waited for them all to leave before sighing and sagging in her seat. Kristen and Liz stopped by their quarters briefly to allow Kristen to change into a uniform more appropriate for reporting in to the Admiral. "You know what this means?" Liz asked. "What?" "No more running around in pt gear." "Yeeeaaah." Kristen said quietly. She missed the hot, muggy mess of Leatherneck already. She stripped out of her flight gear and changed into her service uniform, gave Liz a kiss and was out on her way to see Admiral Phaserman. |

Kristen straightened her cover, took a deep breath and chimed on the door. Kristen stepped in and took the seat. "Admiral, VMF 99 is aboard." “Good, how are you doing?” She asked knowing how close Kristen and Gary had been she had to be taking a hit as much as everyone else. "I...." Kristen paused. "I am managing. How about yourself, Ma'am? “I am... alive” was all she said. “I appreciate you coming to the Veroto Colonel” "Thank you, I appreciate you having us. I am gonna miss Leatherneck, but we needed a change of scenery" “You need to stretch your wings so to speak.” Kira gave her a small smile. "Yes, Ma'am." Kristen nodded. She was on edge expecting to be dressed down over the flybys. “If you or your men need anything let us know, I know the flight deck isn't in the greatest shape but it's on the list of things to be fixed.” Kira picked up the padd for the flight deck repairs. "Yes ma'am. The only thing we didn't bring with us was expendable stores and spares, but all our fighters recieved an overhaul before departing. If my support teams are needed for repairs just say the word. Being a field squadron our techs cover a variety of specialties from ordinance to structures to propulsion." “Get with our Acting Chief Engineer and see if she has anything that you can help with.” Kira said handing her the flight deck padd "Absolutely. Is it Lela?" Kristen asked, taking the padd "Yes, Lela is pulling double duty so I am sure she could use all the help she can get." Kira nodded. "Excellent, be nice to see more familiar faces." “I am sure it will be. Anything else?” Kira asked. Kristen paused a moment, thinking. "Not that I can think of at the moment." She said, pausing again. "Yes." She said. "If you ever need someone to talk to, let me know." “I appreciate that Colonel and will keep it in mind. Staff briefing is at 0700.” she said. "I will be there." She said, catching a glimpse of the picture of Gary. "Before Chiodrick," she said, "he talked to my rookies. For an hour or so, he wasn't the colonel, or the prince, he was just Gramps. He got those kids settled down, probably saved a few of them just by doing his teacher thing." “He was a good man, John and I talk to him every night. I wanna keep his memory alive. His son needs to know hes a hero.” Kira said glancing over at their wedding picture on her desk. "Yes. I'll miss him, he made me a better pilot, and a better leader. He was the best." She said, wiping a tear from her face. “Yes, If you'll excuse me” she said gently fighting back the tears that threatened her. Kristen nodded and stepped out. Kristen called an all hands meeting for VMF-99 in the Group Ready Room as she left the office. 15 minutes later, the squadron's 12 pilots and 60 support personnel were assembled. "Okay," Kristen said, "As you may have noticed, the ship needs some help. Chief Warrant Officer Davis." "Yes Ma'am." Davis said, standing up. "Chief, I want you to take the powerplant detail and report to Captain Hardfighter in Engineering." "Aye, Colonel." He said, grabbed his technicians and was off. "Chief Warrant Officer S'Vora." Kristen said next. "Yes, Colonel." S'Vora said, her voice flat. "I need all structural mechanics working on the flight deck facilities. Warrant Officer Howard, your ordinancemen can assist them with heavy lifts using the overhead gantries and the ordinance carts." Both Warrant Officers nodded, then grabbed their teams to do the surveying. Master Sergeant Whipple raised her hand. "What about Headquarters and Plane Captains, Colonel?" "Coordinate with them on finding whatever parts, tools, or materials are needed for engineering and flight deck operations. Find it or fabricate it. We have a machine shop on this deck, and if the replicators are working we'll have those too." "And for the pilots?" Lizzie asked. "For right now, we're extra hands. Lizzie, I want you to keep half the squad here and help where we can. I am taking half the squadron up to Engineering to see how we can help." "Understood." Lizzie said. "It's going to be a long few days, but maybe we can help get this ship running again. Let's get to work." Kristen ordered. She grabbed her pilots and headed for Engineering. "Captain Hardfighter?" She asked, entering with six pilots and a dozen propulsion specialists carrying tool bags. Tag |

Ensign: "Commodore's Frost, Hardfighter and Marine Captain Hardfighter ma'am" "three of her children, maybe they've talked her out of hiding away she's the one that will boost morale not Frost I'd better report in myself before heading to sickbay" Abby goes over and rings the chime tag Kira |

"Abby, I'm all right" Kira sighed reading her mind. "Really you know I tend to deal with my grief best alone." She said watching her best friend. "I appreciate you checking up on me really" she smiled a little. "Enough about me how are you, Cam, and the kids doing?" she asked. |

“All Senior Staff report to the conference room” Kira said hitting the ship wide comm from the briefing room. She sat down and waited. Kira looked up when the door opened. “Admiral” Lela said nodding to her mother. “Allow me to introduce my Assistant Chief Engineer since I am working double duty I thought it best to have him along this is Lt. Commander Kevin Murphy.” “Hello Commander” Kira said getting to her feet and extending her hand. “We've met” TAG KEVIN Kira waited until everyone was seated before getting to her feet. “We have many new and old faces joining us. As you all can see our new Starfighter Commander is Lt. Colonel Kristen McQueen." she pointed to Kristen. "Acting Chief Engineer and Marine second in command Marine Captian Lela Hardfighter." she pointed to her youngest daughter. "Our new Marine Commander Major Rodge Miller" she pointed to the Major. "Last but not least allow me to introduce Commodore Jazmyn Hardfighter, she will be serving as the mission advisor and ships diplomat apparently I lack some diplomatic skills or something” she said her hand resting on the phaser on her hip. “It's good we have her because we are putting her right to work. Commodore Hardfighter will be helping to negotiate with a species just in the delta quadrant that has been helping outlaying colonies rebuild. Our job is to negotiate a contract that would have them helping all of Starfleet. Think you can handle that?” she asked looking at her eldest daughter. “Shouldn't be an issue” Jazmyn kept her face expressionless but her voice was laced with venom. “Good then let's shove off we have a ways to go. That is if engineering has done their job.” Kira said glancing over at Lela. “What we have left can be done en route we are ready to go when you are ma'am.” Lela said ignoring her mothers moody tone. “Good Commodore Frost, set course for the Delta Quadrant warp 7.” Kira said. “Unless anyone has anything further your dismissed.” Kira said turning to leave. Major Hanson met Kristen after the briefing. "Colonel," She said, maintaining military bearing since crewmembers were about, "Should I keep our propulsion specialists on temporary assignment to main engineering?" "Until Captain Hardfighter relieves them, yes. If I have to sign a formal order detaching them TAD that's fine. Have you checked with the ship's quartermaster in regards to expendable stores?" "Yes ma'am. Most of the stores aboard are for air to surface and CAS use, but we do have a limited number of Medium Range Multi-Role missiles aboard. We should also talk to Commodore Frost about Anti-Ship missiles. I think we can also draw Quantum Torpedoes from the ship's magazines." "I'll put in a requisition. Our mission is a diplomatic mission. Hopefully we won't be needing to fight too much. That said, I want the Banshees ready for a full strike package. Black Knights and Satan's Kittens should be fitted for tactical close air support." "How tactical are we talking?" Lizzy asked. Kristen lead Lizzie into the hangar deck. "I want the peregrines carrying a max load of GBU-90s, for high-altitude level bombing. Black Knights and Satan's Kittens should carry Mk. 260 rocket pods, Mk. 40 MQT pods and Multi-Role Missiles." "Roger that." Tag |
