Oceania Heavy Industries has cleared her five construction slots outside Weno and has laid the keels of five Valour Class Frigates now that workers have had time to train and materials ordered. Construction time is estimated at 10-12 months. The shipyards of Fiji Shipping and Heavy Industries in Suva have been purchased by Oceania Heavy Industries as they have been struggling for years. Two more Valour Class keels are lain in Suva, and a third in the Samoa at Samoan Pacific Shipping's previously owned yard. Two are lain in OHI's shipyards in Palikir and finally... AP Moller-Maersk has lain six in Odense, Denmark, and two in her Estonian yards. This is hoped to save the struggling shipbuilding facilities which are facing layoffs and even possible closure, despite these are not their typical massive container vessels. |
