![]() Despite the isolation of the various sects within the Scourge of the Wild, there has been a development of very similar techniques which ultimately amount to the same result; from the powers of taking the form, via the lifeforce, of avian predators to the manipulation and conjuration of the elements. There are even reports of Beastmasters who've lived beyond the standard lifespan of human beings through their bond with 'nature'. Yet these powers have consequences, for it is not the energies of Nosgoth they draw from, but the dark taint that flows within her; through the fields of blood, and their magics, the corruption is further embedded. For some, so abundant it is within themselves, they've become rather inhuman and more like the Wild they claim to draw power from; something completely fierce and ruthless even by the standards of Humans. Skin-changing Through the sacrifice of a creature's lifeforce, the Scourge of the Wild obtain their most notorious gift of all; the ability to change into the beasts of the sky. From the three-eyed treshawks to the Great Raptors of highest mountains, there isn't an avian the Scourge has not mastered. Through these forms, the Beastmaster can channel unique expressions of their powers, conjuring blasts of fire and force to bring their Vampiric enemies closer to the true death. Alas, the Scourge has yet to master any secure method of skin-changing into earth-based creatures, but the meditations and exercises continue ever onward to begin taking these forms. Elementalism Another deadly expect of the expression of the Scourge's gifts, the power of Elementalism, also known as Druidry, allows the Beastmaster to manipulate the powers of nature. From manifesting the power to conjure fire to unleashing a wave of scourging water from the river or manipulating the energies of the skies, the Scourge makes itself a most powerful asset to humanity's cause. Some can even confine the power of the wild into single container that can explode with deadly force. Of course, there are limits to such spellcraft; for example, water can only be manipulated, not generated and the manipulation of earth can only be done with natural rock. The Wild Present within every single Beastmaster, the Wild often manifests itself when the individual is in truly grave danger, whilst allowing them to sense the presence of Kain's brood; their strength grows to punishing levels, their speed blinding and their reflexes arrow-swift, catching many a Vampire who thinks it has its prey unaware. There are however, a few Beastmasters who've devoted themselves to mastering the powers of the Wild, channelling so as to willingly exploit it whenever they please. Whilst it is the same power that grants the oldest Scourges their lifespan, it is ultimately, in truth, the Corruption that has rooted itself within them, their sworn enemies, and the Fields of Blood. It is little coincidence that the most proficient practitioners of the Wild tend to be the most inhuman, to the point of almost being a wild beast. |
