Accounts Banned (02/21/2007)

Over 5,000 accounts in violation of the FINAL FANTASY XI user agreement were suspended or banned today. These accounts belonged to users that engaged in RMT activities or made use of third-party tools or "cheats".

We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

Based on the results of our investigation, over 4000 PlayOnline accounts were terminated while over 1000 accounts were temporarily suspended.
Details of the violations are as follows:

- Usage of tools that allow enhanced character movement.
Approx. 750 cases

- Usage of tools that circumvent game mechanics with respect to the timing of ability use, etc. in certain areas or at points where Notorious Monsters appear.
Approx. 1900 cases

-Using cheats to automatically repeat a particular action.
Approx. 650 cases

- Accounts from people that were previously confirmed to have RMT connections, or that have violated the user agreements but re-subscribed to PlayOnline.
Approx. 1450 cases

- RMT-related activity
Approx. 250 cases

The termination of these accounts has led to the removal of approximately 50 billion gil from circulation.

In addition to our actions against third-party tools and RMT-related offenses, we have implemented measures to counteract the recent occurrence of automated fishing. Our vigilant GMs, along with programming changes made by the development team, will continue to uphold the policy of fair play within the world of FINAL FANTASY XI.

We would like to remind players that as well as adversely affecting game balance, the use of third-party tools or cheats can also have consequences that are not immediately obvious, such as introducing damaging viruses, and comprising the security of private account details. Usage of third-party tools will not be tolerated within FINAL FANTASY XI, and we will continue to severely penalize any players found to be in violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

As we continue to ensure a fun and balanced environment for FINAL FANTASY XI, we hope that our players enjoy the game as it was intended and take care to avoid involvement in activities that violate the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

Well, unless they are using a bot, which I don't think they are or they would outclaim us more, they won't be banned anytime soon because the aren't really cheating and as long as they aren't the characters who are selling the stones or involved directly in the RMT activities (spending extended times camping on monster isn't against the rules if we remember correctly) there isn't a rule with which they can ban them with...yet...

But! SE should send some of that gil my way...

Ya more than a few.....

1700 RMT's banned divided by 32 servers equals....................

TA DA A WHOPPING 53 A SERVER!

Seriously anyone that plays FFXI knows there are WAAAAAAAAY more than 53 a server!

COME ON SE LET'S SEE 3400 BANNED AT LEAST! Seriously they aren't hard to spot for pete's sake! lol

And why is it that it's usually the obscure gs's that get banned and not the blatent ones like the Ulli campers? "Oh look there is a bunch of people at Ulli/Sky 24/7 seven days a week...hmmm...ok ban the guy thats camping Jaggedy Eared Jack!" oy

And what they are doing is considered harassment. You can get banned for it.

Not so much harassment as it is attempting to monopolize a NM (I say attempting cause we all know they cry when Vin's up there.).

I personally find legitimate linkshells more harassing than the gilsellers.

Actually Ulli GS'ers do use bots to claim faster like if its you and them one and one they have a better shot at claiming. And if anotehr LS is doing Ulli and they wipe or it goes unclaim you'll always see Enmanak and Jmilin's vokes are the first two to go off even though you've been spamming voke too.

Yes, they do consider it harassment. A real life friend of mine was playing the game till 6 months ago because his account got banned. He was camping some NM for the drop for a job he was lvling. (Melee equips so I don't remember what it was but the gil sellers camp it 24/7.) So he knew that if he wanted a shot at it he was going to have to camp it as many hours as possible. So for about a week he would only sleep 3 hours a day and the days he had night classes, he had his brother camp it while he was in school. During that week he got taken to jail and given a warning for harassment for "hindering other players enjoyment of the game". When he tried to talk to the GM they wouldn't let him because they judge you first and you aren't allowed to say a word in your defense. Well, he still wouldn't give up and neither did the gil sellers because a few days later they called the GM again and this time he was banned. Same reason. I know him well and I believe him when he said he didn't talk to anyone there, which were 99% gil sellers most of the time so why bother. He did say that he did some emotes like /angry /fume when they got claim but that was about it. Now why the reverse doesn't work when we call a GM on the gil sellers........just makes you wonder.

Thats weird, i spent 2 years camping NMs straight I was never in trouble with GMs.
I camped VE for 1 year straight, and O. Kote NM for 1 year straight. All I did in game was camp them to lvl my goldsmithing.

Then be thankful because I've known other people that have gotten warnings too.

Maybe I'm missing something here was your friend ban for doing emotes when some one else claimed or was he banned for spending all of his time there?

I'm thinking he was banned from the emotes and comments he made when the GS'er claimed?

Because I think you adn Vin are talkign about two different things or maybe I'm missing it. Since you quoted before spending all your time in one zone isn't a violation.

As I said, he didn't talk to them. The only thing he did was the occasional /fume /angry when they would claim. He's 45 yrs old and totally NOT going to lip off to people. His brother is 56. I know them well and the chances of them doing something to get banned is about .00000000000000000000000000094538%. The original point was that SE doesn't ban the right people most of the time. Even though they say some RMT's were banned, the most blatent violaters are still in the game.
