Honestly, if I won, I'd probably start doing rapid calculations on the current economy to see if I couldn't fun an aegis.

So I was doing some math (yeah, I do math, it's kinda my thing).

Something about this whole deal seems off... if I am understanding the rules and conditions properly, with a decent group of people organizing their efforts, you are guaranteed to win more gil than you spend. Lemme 'splain:

Each ticket costs 1k. You can pick the numbers on the ticket.

The Rank 4 Prize (for last 2 digits correct) is 100k (or an item, but lets assume for the moment that you were to just take the gil).

Assuming by "digits" they mean simply the numbers 0-9, then there ARE ONLY 100 possible combinations of the last two digits. So for a 100k investment (and the 10 characters at level 5 and above to buy them with), you are guaranteed to get your 100k back, plus have 100 free chances at bigger prizes.

Now, take this a step further... The Rank 3 Prize (for last 3 digits correct) is 1 mil (or again, an item, but we're taking the gil here).

Suppose we were to get enough people with enough mains and mules (that they'd need to get over level 5) together to be able to buy all 1000 possible combinations of the last 3 digits. You'd only need 100 characters (hell, I have 8 already myself) and 1 million gil cumulatively to buy them all. NOW, you are guaranteed to get the 1 mil prize on one of them (which pays for all the tickets that were bought) PLUS you will get the 100k prize on 9 others! So now, you are guaranteed 1.9 mil back from your 1 mil investment.

In addition, you also now have a 1/10 chance at the 10 mil prize, plus a 1/100 chance at the 100 mil prize. Free gil, with a relatively decent chance at a LOT of free gil...

Everyone follow that?

So someone tell me.... What am I missing here?

Just a note, they are apparently actual items. So if you wanted to do it you would need 10 free inventory spaces to hold the items for the next couple months. That would mean that mains would pretty much be outta the system because there aren't many people who would be able to get a large group of organized members (end game) who have 10 free inventory slots to just have items sit there for awhile. Honestly, I think it may have been a typo or SE just wants to recirculate gil that they took out with GSer bannings because I think it should say 10 marbles/account instead of 10/character but that's just me.

I mean, they even say in the event explanation that getting a group of friends together and trying for a better chance at the big prize is a good idea. Although there is also no sure way to know if the person who has the winning rank 1 marble in your group won't just run off cause it's not like they have to give you the prizes or anything.

All I know is this, in the end when it's all said and done, if you don't at least get an XP scroll then you suck! :P

There's no reason not to get at least an XP scroll.

You have 10 tickets.

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

That's 10 different numbers. Just make all your tickets end with a different number.

Also, screw the rapid calculations. http://www.ffxiah.com/relic_calc.php ftw

And finally, me and Ulti were discussing earlier whether you would take kaiser body or ares's. =p You answered the question without us asking.

Although there is also no sure way to know if the person who has the winning rank 1 marble in your group won't just run off cause it's not like they have to give you the prizes or anything.

To get the guaranteed Rank 3 prize, you only need 100 characters, which is not super hard to come by. Most people I know have at least 5 if you include mules, so that's at most 20 people. You don't think you could find 19 other people in this LS that you'd trust to not run off with it?

Even if you trust no one, you can guarantee at least not losing any money by doing 10 characters on your own account, and brute-forcing the rank 4 prize. You lose nothing, are guaranteed at least your gil back or an item that's worth more than 100k (which most of the rank 4 prizes are), and give yourself a lot more chances at higher prizes, specifically:

- a 1/10 chance at 1 mil
- a 1/100 chance at 10 mil
- a 1/1000 chance at 100 mil

All yourself, no other people involved. This is what I will be doing.

Plus, find 9 other people that want to do the same thing, each pick a different 3rd number, and one of the 10 of you will have to win the 1 mil. If you agree to split (and the winner doesn't run off with it), you just doubled your money at least (plus the 10x better odds at the higher amounts).

Yes, the eating up 10 inv slots on every character for 2 months would be inconvenient, but not insurmountable. If the restriction was actually 10 per account, and not 10 per character, then that makes this impossible.

Ugh, this whole thing turns me off. Isn't the point of playing and doing endgame EARNING these things, as opposed to being given them? Just rubs me the wrong way...

For those wanting Salvage gear, that'd be pretty easily obtainable, I know how to lead Salvage and would be happy to start a Salvage group within Windshire sometime and pass on my knowledge of the event so that others can lead it as well as myself.

I just don't like the idea that folks are going to get stuff for virtually nothing... people with HQ Abjuration gear worked hard and probably sank lots of gil into it. People who have Salvage bodies have had to put up with horrendous drop rates to make it happen. It's not fair to them, imo, when stuff like this is put out there. Oh well, at least they're not offering finished relic weapons... then I'd really be livid.

Well, Jhedin.. Depending on how willing you are to negotiate, going by the current lowest shouts for buying or selling currency, I believe it is like 8ish relics that cost less then 100mil gil, which is one of the prizes..
So minus the help required to get the R/EX items, they ARE basically giving some people full relics...

Getting the attestation and the fragment are, hands down, the hardest part of the relic upgrade quest. The currency part is really never anything more than a matter of gil and time. There's a big difference between having all the currency and having all the currency + the r/e items, trust me. All the currency in the world means nothing if you don't have a shell that has enough faith/trust in you or the competency to take out an Animated Weapon.

Well, in my experiences, the 1-6 dynamis runs dedicated to attestations or the fragments are a lot more fun and easily done then the massive amount of farming needed, gil bought, or years of dynamis done to get the currency..

Erm, you need to pay to enter dynamis, and spend time getting to/killing the NMs.. seems like the same thing to me..
Sure there is that trust aspect, but the right amount of money can buy you the help to get the R/EX items, since most of the players in this game are too god damned greedy to help people for free.

If you win the 100mil gil from the lotto, and use it to sponsor runs, you CAN get the currency needed in less then 100 runs, then use the spare to pay for help with the R/EX.. Maybe your LSs didn't allow it, but it's not like they are the only dynamis shells that have existed
