Durmstrang is the darkest wizarding school of the three, and hasn't quite moved away from its past. Even though there's a movement to allow muggleborns attendance, they are not yet permitted. IF YOUR CHARACTER IS MUGGLEBORN, THEY ARE NOT YET ALLOWED AT DURMSTRANG! They will be allowed to transfer over when the ban is lifted, but in the meantime, they will need to attend Beauxbatons. The territory requirements are lifted for the time being. This school prides itself in the Dark Arts, and its not so stellar record of students surviving to graduation. With a resident dragon and summoning classes, mishaps involving severe injuries or death happen at least once a year. Many families are rather large as a result, aiming to get at least one through Durmstrang alive and intact. Students have seven mandatory subjects, and can select up to four additional courses in their second year. OWLS are taken in fourth year, and NEWTS in seventh. Students may also partake in several clubs and unofficial late night courses. Mandatory classes include: -Defence Against the Dark Arts --Durmstrang prides itself on not only preparing student how to kill each other, but also how to stop other students from killing them. -Dark Arts --Durmstrang teaches people how to kill each other. This course has a very high focus on dark spells. -Transfiguration --The teacher is currently a demon who got bored. -Ancient Runes --Learn how to read dark spells! -Potions --Learn how to poison people... And hope you got the anti-poison right. -Latin --Learn how to read conjuration spells! And communicate with everyone because no one seems to speak the same language! -Astronomy --Learn how the planets affect conjuration capabilities. Optional classes include: -Demonology --Learn about the different demons you can summon! -Arithmancy --Learn to predict the future... With numbers! -Divination --Learn how to read the future in a million other ways! -Herbology --Learn about plants that enhance potion potency! -Care of Magical Creatures --Learn about the fun creatures, such as dragons! -Necromancy --Just because it's illegal, doesn't mean you can't learn about it Unofficial courses include: -Healing --Learn how to heal the poor souls who were injured when the latest conjuration class mishap occurred, by crowding around the hospital beds and bugging the nurses. -Conjuration (Three nights a week at midnight) --No one's sure how this happened or how it continued, but they think teachers just gave up trying to stop the students from conjuring, and decided to teach them how to do it properly. -Demon Wrangling (At least once a week, demand sometimes higher) --The conjuration class doesn't always go so well, so it's all hands on deck to try and save the ickles! Clubs -Duelling Club --Practice duelling with friends and enemies. -Demonology and Conjuration Club --The club that organizes the late night class, and often ends up demon wrangling due to their extensive knowledge of demons. -Potions and Poisons Club --For the potions and herbology inclined, you can all brew potions and discuss how to make them more potent with others like you! |
