Lalita was such a simple creature. All she liked to do was eat, sleep, surround herself in heat, and slither around. Simple indeed. Though, she did still try to be like the other kids, as she liked being around them. Only problem was her powers made it a bit hard for others to handle. She had no legs. The thing people always seem to notice first. Well, after the eyes, and scales. She wasn’t a very human looking mutant. Yellow eyes, fangs, a couple of scales here and there, and of course a extremely long snake tail, instead of actual legs. Not only that, but her scales where pink, with a red underbelly. She also couldn’t hang around people who were too cold, or fear snakes. Or lizards. She also had eating habits that would make most vomit. She really, really preferred live prey, to kill and gulp down whole. Sometimes not even kill. This, and more made it harder for most to be around her. She was dressed in a long sleeve black sweater, with a purple scarf, and black denim skirt to cover her lower parts, as she was still a lady until you got to her legs and the rest of her hips, as well as her butt which was a snake tail. Right now she was out near a lake, near the school, waiting for something. That something she didn’t actually know. Another problem with her was the fact that, she just isn’t big in the intelligence area. She did know she was supposed to be here, which is why she was next to a tree, lounging on the branches, half asleep. She was tired due to being a bit lazy, and was just laying, lazily waiting for whomever she was supposed to be waiting on. And whatever she needed to do. |

As he walked out towards the lake area with a young goat on a rope in tow, Ryan contemplated on whether he should have taken Scott's offer and flipped him for this new, challenging (to say the least) assignment. The two men had both gone out together to pick up Lalita, their new student and recruit, and upon their return, Professor Xavier gave them the option to decide which one of them would become the girl's mentor and take charge of her special... needs. Neither of them had ever seen a mutation like hers before. Not even Scott Summers, with all his years of experience. Not Ryan, who'd traveled all over the world with the SEALs and more recently as part of his job participating in research digs. He'd seen plenty of bizarre things in his days, but when he was first introduced to and met Lalita a couple of days ago at that orphanage, he could not keep a professional look steady on his face. He muttered a couple of words under his breath that caused Scott to shoot him a dirty look. Half girl, half snake. There were plenty of other Xavier kids and alumni who carried all sorts of visible aspects to their mutation. But none of those physical characteristics were as thorough and shocking as a girl who was a giant anaconda from the waist down. However, after Ryan had recovered from his shock and fascination long enough to actually talk to Lalita, he realized something else--she was such as sweet, innocent young girl who didn't carry a single ounce of angst about her difficult life. Ryan had met lots of other students who bemoaned over trivial problems as though they were life threatening. Lalita, for the most part, seemed blissfully unaware of the harsh realities of the mutation she was born with. It was that innocence despite her urgent need for help and care, that probably drew Ryan into volunteering himself as her mentor. Scott told him it would only be on a trial basis, to be fair to him, and give him a chance to change his mind should the challenge prove to be too difficult for him to shoulder. Challenge number one, Ryan soon discovered, was the simple task of just finding his new charge. Between her habit of slinking out of the mansion only to reappear in some of the most random places on the enormous estate, and his lack of any telepathic ability to track her, Ryan had been gotten stuck with tugging around the stubborn billy goat around campus for nearly half an hour. "Lalita?" Ryan called out, as he had been doing sporadically as he walked along. "It's Mr. Hurlock, if you can hear me, call out and let me know where you are. I've got...your, um, breakfast." He glanced down at the goat, a little grateful that it was a cranky, and rather ugly looking horned brute who kicked and bit and wasn't at all very nice or cooperative. This would have been much more difficult if Lalita's meal was some cute calf or lamb. It was also going to be the first time for Ryan to help give the girl her food, so he wasn't quite sure what to expect. If he had to guess though, this was probably the part of the job that made it easy for Scott to let him have it. But as a former Navy SEAL who'd seen more than his share of blood and brutality, how bad could it be, really? |

Lalita was on the tree for a long while, just lazing around until, she smelt something. It smelt yummy. Like food. She didn’t know it was Ryan due to her hearing being, not so good. Licking her lips, she slick down the tree, stealth mode activated. She could be very quiet when she wanted, despite her weight and size, making her a little bit dangerous. After slithering away from Ryan, she had her heat detecting eyes on her target, a young billy goat, being held by a man. Who was the man? Actually she could remember the shape and had a idea, but the name was escaping her. She didn’t care at the moment though, she was just hungry. Her stomach grumbled, as she was silently only a couple of feet away. Of course the grumbling didn’t fully give it away, as it was muffled by her thick tail. Once she was half a foot away, she lunged! With amazing speed she had her tail wrapped around the goat, making a giant tug. She already bit with her extremely fast acting venom, paralyzing the goat, and by the time Ryan would be fully turned around, Lalita had already unhooked her jaw, and started eating. Within only a couple of seconds, she was already done grotesquely swallowing the entire goat down, the leash hanging out of her jaw. By the time the had him scarfed down, you could see a bulge travel actually past where a human stomach was supposed to be, and settled in her tail. She sighed happily as the rope was slurped up like a noddle. She then fixed her jaw back into place and let out a loud, long, kinda un-ladylike belch from all of the air she swallowed. Patting her tail, as one would their stomach, Lalita gave a big, bright, happy smile. Her tail was moving around it’s new meal, as the toxin left the goat trying to struggle and move. After remembering there was a person next to her, she gave him a hug. And by hug, she grabbed him with her entire tail, the thing-including her meal inside- wrapped around Ryan as Lalita hugged both with her arms. She wasn’t squeezing hard enough to do much harm, except feel tight. Like uncomfortably tight, and maybe a little bit hard to breathe. “Hi there! Thanks for the food! Me and my tummy happily thank you!” Lalita said as she was tied around the older man in her death hug. “Though... I forgot your name...” Lalita said, as this was the fifth time she forgot his name. |

Nothing, absolutely nothing in the world could have prepared Ryan for Lalita’s assault on her living, breathing, breakfast. The girl was quiet, and fast. Feeling the sharp tug that ripped the leash from his hands, he spun around in perfect timing to be treated to the lovely sight of the entire goat being sucked into her inhumanly stretched jowls. Stunned and with saucer-sized eyes, Ryan watched the ghastly bulge descend, visibly sliding down each section of her expandable body before finally coming to a stop at her reptilian tail. He liked to believe he had more experience with animals than the average person, but this feeding was nothing like he had ever seen before. As sickening as the spectacle was, it was also morbidly fascinating. He was still trying to process the bizarreness of the situation when suddenly his entire body was seized by the gigantic coil that was Lalita’s lower body. It was an abrupt, powerful grip that could have easily squeezed the life out of a normal human being, if it just constricted a few inches tighter. Ryan knew that the girl wasn’t trying to be rough or harmful. She just had no idea that her gesture of affection was also potentially fatal. Ryan chuckled uneasily and patted the girl’s slender arms, which she had also flung around him. “You’re welcome, Lalita,” he said, trying not to make it obvious from the strain in his voice that breathing was rather laborious at the moment. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting for too long. The goat wanted to take its sweet time getting here.” He grimaced as he felt the enormous lump of digesting food poke him from behind. “I’m Mr. Hurlock, or um, Ryan… you can just call me Ryan,” he said, even though technically students weren’t supposed to be too casual in addressing faculty members. He didn’t like to hold to formalities between him and his mentees, since he wanted them to see him as family. “I’m your new mentor, remember? So how are you feeling this morning?” |
