Home is where the heart is. That was a quote the Russian mutant, Piotr Rasputin, lived by. It was the reason for him staying at the mansion for all these years. Though his mind wandered back to his homeland some days, his heart was here at the mansion. He was among his kind here, and among his friends. As of late the gentle giant stayed to himself though. He had just returned to the mansion from Russia, and he wasn't sure he had even mentioned to any of his old friends he had returned. The reason behind his solitude was unclear. Some days his creative mind just needed to be alone for the sake of being alone. So here he was, the mutant known as Colossus, on a nice sunny afternoon. He stood by the lake, a small breeze passing through. His canvas was set up facing the lake, and his brushes and paint sat on a small workbench. He was in his metallic mutant form and seemed to be watching his reflection in the lake. Anyone who knew Piotr, knew this wasn't the form he took often when painting. He wore a tight red muscle shirt and a pair of black pants. The canvas was splattered with greys and blues. He was painting his reflection in the lake. Some might have seen this and thought he was conceded, but truthfully he was painting what he believed to be the monster within. He had come to terms with himself years ago, but today he wondered what it would be like to be normal. It seemed selfish because Piotr was one of the few mutant who could all most turn off his powers. Many of his friends didn't have that luxury. How different would life be if he had never become this metal beast? He knew he probably would not have his sister Illyana around. He would still be in Russia, working the farm and possibly blaming himself for her death. There was so much good Piotr could do with his powers, but some days the mammoth mutant just felt like a monster. He was nearly unstoppable when his powers were active, what if he had been found by Magneto first? Many different scenarios and thoughts passed through his head as he continued to paint his self portrait of the Monster Within. The breeze was nice, and the sun merely reflected off of the silver metal skin Colossus posed. "Beautiful. Today is beautiful," he murmured to himself. |

Alison had decided to go for a walk out by the lake as the mansion was starting to get a little too hectic for her liking with all the students returning for the start of classes that would be happening in a couple of days. It was all but impossible to find a quiet place in the school once the student population had returned aside from inside her room. Though Ally didn't really relish the idea of being locked away in her room. No, instead she decided she would go out side, get some fresh air and clear her head a bit and center herself. It had amazed Ally at how quiet the lake had been the past few years, ever since they had installed the pools at the mansion it was as if the lake had all but been forgotten about. Ally could remember that when she was a student that the lake was the place where the students would hang out. There was always someone from the upper class grilling out hamburger and hotdogs, while the girls sunbathed and would go swimming with the boys. A smile crossed her lips as the flash of memories came rushing back to her. As she walked along the waterline, something shiny caught her attention out of the corner of her eyes. She turned her head quickly to see what it was. She stood there for a moment with her hazel eyes locked on the source of the shine. To her surprise, it was Piotr in his metal form, but what was he doing, and why didn't she know he was back yet? Ally just stood there for a moment watching him as he appeared to be working on a painting of the water. Ally slowly walked up calling out to the man so that she wouldn't startle him. " Hey Piot, I didn't know you were back yet. I guess I better check my cell phone to make sure it's working" she said playfully giving him a hard time for not calling her to let her know that he was returning. |

A familiar sweet voice filled the air as he continued his painting. Piotr lost his train of thought for a moment. He hadn't told anyone he would be out here painting, and it was unexpected that the person to walk by would be an old friend. "Ally," he whispered but continued to work on his painting. It had been quite some time since he had seen her. "Inspiring. Your beauty," Piotr's voice spoke up still not turning around to look at her. "I don't even need to see your face, Alison, your presence around here its beautiful. Soothing." He made a few more strokes to his painting. It was true that the presence of Ally soothed Piotr's thoughts. She had that calming affect on him. She always did. Finally he turned to her. She was just as he remembered her, stunning and elegant. Piotr smiled at Ally and scratched his head as if he was confused. "Us Russians, we aren't too good with cell phones. Especially me," he paused attempting to smirk, "No excuses I am truly sorry. If anyone deserved a call it was you." Looking at Alison brought back many memories for Piotr, they shared a long interesting relationship. Sometimes it had been more than just friends. Piotr always kept a soft spot for the dazzling singer. The giant Russian made his way over to Ally, his silver skin still glimmering in the sunlight. He towered over now, and he placed his arms around her to embrace. "I've missed you." As he squeezed her, his skin began to change to his normal self. Mostly because he didn't want to hurt her. The funny thing was even in his normal state, he still towered over Ally's tiny frame. "Your not too mad at me are you?" Piotr's voice did show a bit of concern. The last thing he wanted to do was alienate some of his oldest friends, especially Ally. |

Ally couldn't help but smile as Piotr managed to provide her with compliments with out even batting an eye nor turning around to face her. He had always had such a sweet nature with her, that was probably one of the main reasons they had always had such a close friendship even before they ever attempted dating. It also helped that he also wasn't too hard on the eyes either. Her smile grew wider as he remarked about her cell phone comment.
Alison let out a slight laugh at the statement. If anyone else had said that to her she'd most likely have just chewed them out, but with Piotr it was different. She knew he wasn't really big on technology, not because he wasn't smart enough to figure it out, but because he preferred the more simple things in life. It was a refreshing change from her fast paced life. Being around Piotr always seemed to make the chaos and craziness of the world slow down a bit so she could breathe.
She looked up at him as he spoke and leaned in to give her a gentle hug shifting from his cold metal form to his warm flesh tone. Alison gave him a big squeeze back, knowing that there was no way she could hurt him by hugging him too tightly. "Of course I'm not mad at you" she said softly. "Besides, even if I were I couldn't stay mad at you too long, I mean if I did who would pick me up and put me on their shoulders at concerts and in large groups when I can't see?" she said as she let a small laugh escape from her lips. "I'm glad that you're back though, I was starting to think you weren't coming back for this semester, you were cutting it a little close there buddy " she said with a playful tone, and nudging him with her elbow playfully. |

Ally's comment about putting her on his shoulders for concerts earned a chuckle from him. He wasn't quite sure if she was being playful or if she was being serious. Alison was a very petite woman, and probably did need help seeing for concerts or parades even. He was sure she was on the opposite side of concerts nowadays though."I didn't realize I still needed to put you on my shoulders, after all don't the Superstars see the concert from the stage?" Piotr let out a smile as he teased Ally about being famous. He may have been one of the few people that would always just see her for herself. "It took more thought this year to return," Piotr's tone changed from joking to more serious. His facial expression always reflected the change of tone. "Not for any certain reason, I just, I don't know, I." There was a pause as Piotr's tone changed to one of uncertainty. "Sometimes, Ally I feel like I'm not doing anything." There was a sigh. Piotr knew if he left it at that, Ally would ask questions. He was an X-Man after all, and had been quite useful to the team over the years "You know? I teach, I help out, and when the time comes I'm an X-Man. It gives me pride and accomplishment. But," There was another pause and Piotr took a moment to look out towards the lake. "My mind always makes me wonder, what if? What if there was more to me than this place. What if I am missing out on something. What if I could be more useful elsewhere?" Piotr turned back to Ally now and this time he smiled, "Not that I'd want to ever leave my comrades for good. Something always draws me back to this place, whether it is Illyana's well being or yourself." Piotr pointed at Ally now and shook his head. "I don't catch painter's block when you are around," he chuckled lightly making another indication at how Ally was able to inspire his artistic talents. |

Alison laughed at his question. "Yeah I suppose that's part true when it's my own concert" she said before laughing again. "But you have to remember that I'm a fan of music and I do still enjoy going to concerts and those are the ones that I have a hard time seeing, it never fails that I have someone tall person in front of me" she explained with another small laugh. "I don't like to draw attention to myself so I usually try to dress down usually with a hat on and my glasses so people don't generally recognize me, it makes it so much easier to enjoy myself. When I have gone as myself, word gets back to the artist and they usually end up calling me out so then everyone knows I'm there. I went to a New Kids On The Block concert over the summer and they told everyone I was there, while it was sweet they dedicated "Please don't go Girl to me" it was very awkward when everyone around me started snapping pictures. I was there just to enjoy myself not to draw anyone's attention." she explained.
Ally's hazel hues locked on the tall man as the mood of the conversation shifted to that of a more serious nature, she listened as he spoke of feeling like something was missing in his life, like he feared that he may be wasting his life. It was easy to tell that it was weighing on him heavily, not only by his words but by the expression on his face. "You know you always have a family here Piot, but if there is something you want to do with your life, you know we will all support you 100% in what ever you want to do. All anyone here wants is for you to be happy. I mean you can do both if you really want to" she tried to explain to put his mind at ease, as she referred to her own situation. being at the school during the school year then using her summers for her career as she attempted to find balance in her own life. Granted it wasn't ideal as it didn't leave much time for a personal life or a romantic life either. She realized that was a lot to ask of another person but at this point in her life, it was the best she could do. |
