Physical

Age: 30
Height: 6 ft
Weight: 200 Lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown

General Appearance: T'Challa is an extremely fit and attractive Sub-Saharan African male. His skin is very dark and his eyes are warm brown pools. He wears his hair cropped close and immaculately trimmed. Everything about him speaks of power and discipline; from his fluid, measured movements to his perfectly chiseled physique. His lilting voice is deep and soft, full of confidence and gentility. It is the sound of a man whose whisper can silence shouts.

Personal

Known relatives: Shuri Udaku(Sister), Ororo Iqadi T'Challa (Wife), N'Dare and N'Yami (Daughters)

Group affiliation: The Resistance; Formerly the Avengers (Defunct)

Powers: Avatar of BastThe Black Panther is considered the Incarnation of the Panther God. This semi divine state grants T'Challa a greater resistance to magic than even his indomitable will would normally provide. It has also often been noted by supernatural entities, both friend and foe.

The benefits do not end there. The Heart-Shaped Herb itself has amazing properties. It enhances the Panther in a manner quite similar to the Super Soldier Serum of the Americans. Aging slows, healing accelerates, and the immune system becomes a veritable aegis. Every physical characteristic is improved to the very pinnacle of Human capacity. T'Challa is faster, stronger, and more enduring than the finest Olympian.

Additionally, the blessings of the Panther God boost his sense to truly superhuman levels. He can see in complete darkness, smell fear, hear a liar's pulse jump, and identify every ingredient in a meal by taste. He is fully capable of identifying (or tracking) a person by scent alone.

Equipment: Mantle of the Panther T'Challa's uniform serves cultural and religious purposes as symbol of his royal and spiritual authority. But its uses are hardly limited to the symbolic. The costume is a microcomputer controlled collection of unstable vibranium molecules. Like all vibranium, it is capable absorbing nearly any wavelength of energy. This provides protection superior to most known man made forms of armor; in fact only Captain America's Shield (with its unique vibranium alloy) and the like are more resistant to harm.

The costume's energy manipulating capabilities fuel a powerful suite of features. Cloaking technology can render its wearer completely invisible to all senses and passively counters surveillance technology. Thanks to the wonders of vibranium, T'Challa can climb any surface and even walk on walls. The gloves are tipped with retractable Anti-Metal claws capable of cutting through or even corroding nearly any substance. The suit can also rearrange itself. The cape and collar can be extended or eliminated entirely. It can be made to resemble ordinary clothing as well.

Energy Daggers T'Challa wears golden bands on his arms that generate coherent blades of energy. These are variable in intensity and can be wielded in melee or thrown like darts.

Kimoyo Card Kimoyo means "Of the Spirit" in Bantu. Kimoyo's technology is based on the Avengers Identicards, but far more advanced. Some of T'Challa's more irreverent teammates used to refer to this credit card sized supercomputer as "God's Smartphone." Possessing greater processing power than the Vision's Synthezoid brain, the Kimoyo card is the pinnacle of Wakandan computing. This semi-intelligent tool can perform numerous tasks such as accessing satellites, invading enemy systems and scanning its surroundings.

Abilities:

Pinnacle of Human Achievement In the heyday of the Super Heroes, T'Challa was one of the eight smartest people in the world. Raised to be a warrior and a King, that potential has not sat idle. A true polymath, the Panther earned a Ph. D. in Physics from Oxford by the tender age of 16. He studied numerous martial arts, and is considered a peer of such fighters as Captain America, Iron Fist, and Wolverine. He speaks fifteen languages fluently. His expertise in science, diplomacy, military tactics, and even the arts is impressive. In fact, much of the advanced technology he utilizes is of his own design.

Wakandan Resources As King of the most technologically advanced nation on Earth, T'Challa can draw on vast technological and financial, and military resources. He has provided uniforms for the resistance to deter mutant detection systems, as well as cloaking systems for their safe houses. He also supplies food, medicine, weapons and transportation. The Wakandan Military could easily oppose the Sentinels and their masters.
Despite all this, he must be very careful in the application of such power. Foolhardy action could result in open warfare. Such a scenario leaves little hope for the remaining Mutants of America.

Weaknesses T'Challa is still fundamentally Human. He can be harmed and killed. While his technology is impressive, it is not all powerful. He must ultimately rely on his wits to make the best of the tools at his disposal.

T'Challa is not perfect. He is a very private man, easy to like but difficult to truly know. He has a tendency to keep information to himself, even when disclosure may be the better option. He's also extremely stubborn, a trait he shares with his wife. Oftentimes their arguments resemble the proverbial meeting of the Immovable Object and the Unstoppable Force.

Finally, as much as he supports the cause of Mutants, his ultimate loyalty is to Wakanda. He plays it close to the chest, but at the end of the day, if he had to choose between his wife's people and his own, he would experience regret, but not indecision. For the sake of every innocent life left in America, he prays he never needs to make that choice.

History: T'Challa was the only son of King T'Chaka. His mother N'Yami died giving birth to him. His father remarried to a South African named Ramonda. His childhood was rich, if not exactly happy. He was closest with Ramonda; she was the only mother he had ever known. His father, on the other hand, was a different story. T'Chaka was a hard man to know, and he expected great things from his son. The Udaku Dynasty had ruled Wakanda for centuries, and he expected T'Challa to bring honor to that legacy. When he was ten, two things changed T'Challa's life forever. The first was the birth of his sister Shuri. The second his father's decision to send him out into the world to study. It was an act that was unpopular with some elements of the Royal Court, but The King was adamant. His son would be the one to bring Wakanda into the future.

The Prince's first stop on his journey would be Cairo. There he would attend a prestigious prep school before moving on to University. T'Challa's gifted intellect allowed him to skip several grades; by age 13 he was receiving acceptance letters from the finest Colleges in the world. Settling on Oxford's Jesus College, the young Prince took the summer to see more of Africa. While traveling through Sudan, he was recognized by a group of criminals. Despite his skills, T'Challa was outnumbered and his opponents were armed. He would have been kidnapped and held for ransom if it had not been for a young mutant girl.

Her name was Ororo, and it was love at first sight. Their romance proceeded quickly. Smitten, T'Challa offered to take his beloved to England with him. Unfortunately Ororo was unprepared for the depth of her feelings. She was afraid that if her Prince knew of her criminal past, he would reject her. She declined, and headed south through the desert. Both were heartbroken, but neither one of them ever forgot their time together in the Sahara.

T'Challa threw himself into his studies, completing his Ph. D. in Physics in a mere 3 years. For the subsequent 4 years he traveled the world, always looking to expand his skill set. He studied martial arts with the masters of a dozen styles, attended Dr. Richards' lectures at Columbia, and played chess with Russian masters. Finally, he decided it was time to return home and claim his birthright.

He arrived home just in time to witness the murder of his father by one Ulysses Klaw. Without a King to unite the clans, Wakanda was in chaos, ripe for Klaw to plunder. T'Challa rushed to claim the throne, and more importantly the chieftainship of the Panther clan. He had to defeat a dozen warriors unarmed to win the Chieftainship, and that was only the beginning.

As a Rite of Passage, the Chieftain of the Panther Clan eats the Heart-Shaped Herb, a rare plant sacred to the Panther God. The herb only grows where Vibranium deposits are at their richest, and is quite toxic to most. Surviving such an ordeal enhanced the Panther's body and opened his mind to Bast, the Great Panther God. Dressed in the ritual mask of the Black Panther, he was ready to take his kingdom back.

The new King defeated Klaw, maiming the villain and driving his mercenaries from Wakanda. Unfortunately, he faced an uphill battle in rebuilding his kingdom. There were old feuds that needed to be handled carefully, as well as elements of his own court dead set against involvement with the rest of the world. But slowly he dragged Wakanda kicking and screaming into the future. Twelve years ago, most of the world had never heard of Wakanda. But just two years later, Wakanda was a major world power.

T'Challa encountered both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers early in their careers. He formed lasting friendships with the FF, and he quickly became a charter member of the Avengers. In time, he even reconnected with his first love, who by that time was leader of the X-Men. The two rekindled their romance, and were married shortly thereafter.

But everything came crashing down five years ago. Ororo and her X-Men were believed dead in Dallas. The mutant known as Apocalypse attacked even as Hell itself opened in Manhattan. Though the world was saved in the end and the Panther was reunited with his Queen, the worst was yet to come.

With the death of Captain America and the passage of the Registration Act brother turned against brother. T'Challa opposed registration, and attempted to use his power to save lives. He and Ororo established an "underground railroad" for unregistered mutants, spiriting them to safety. As resistance cells began to organize, T'Challa began to fund and equip them.

In the midst of all this darkness, the King managed to find some spark of light; the King and Queen were blessed with twin girls. The named them N'Dare and N'Yami, after their mothers.

Recently, things have become more precarious. As the Americans and their murder machines continue to crack down on the Resistance, other nations grow anxious. An alliance is forming among the so-called Super Nations: Atlantis, Genosha, Latveria, Wakanda and Attilan. Genosha has begun openly calling for war with the United States. Only Wakanda openly opposes a military solution. Attilan remains neutral for now, as does Atlantis. However, The Panther has heard that Doom is attempting to convince Namor to go to war. If he succeeds, the chances for peace will vanish like Xavier's dream.

To make matters worse, three months ago Ororo vanished while on a mission in the United States. Leaving his sister Shuri as Regent, T'Challa took over Wakandan Intelligence operations in North America. This is his last chance: He needs to find his wife, and he needs to prove that the Resistance is working. Before the whole world runs out of time.
