Real name: Dr. James Nicola Bradley
Codename/Other Aliases: Doctor Nemesis

Personal

Preferred OOC Username: John
Email Address: ghynard@gmail.com
IM/AIM/YIM/MSN Username: ghynard@hotmail.com (MSN)

Physical

Age: 106
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Hair: White
Eyes: Blue

General Appearance: Bradley stands at around average height, and appears only slightly past his prime. His skin, hair, and eyes are pale, and he generally dresses in white attire: a suit or long coat and trilby have been the norm for him for much longer than most modern heroes have been alive. He has no real conception of informal attire.

Personal

Known relatives: Nicola Bradley (father, deceased), Catherine Bradley (mother, deceased), John Price (grandfather, deceased), Mary Price (grandmother, deceased), Mary Strong (former fiancée), Human Torch (Jim Hammond, “son”), Volton
(“son”)

Group affiliation: Resistance (815)

Mutant Powers: Dr. Nemesis possesses a mutant power he describes as a “self-evolved” intellect, making him an instinctively intuitive scientific and technological genius. He has delayed his own aging and enhanced his immune system, giving him a prolonged lifespan. He has also enhanced his eyesight, enabling him to detect genetic anomalies, including the Nazi clones he hunted before joining the Resistance. This enhanced vision also includes an X-Ray level of detection and hyper-optics that allow him to see clearly over a distance of two hundred meters.

Dr. Nemesis is a polymath who has made major advances in handheld weaponry, medicine, chemistry, genetics, inter-dimensional travel, computer programming, and robotics. He arms himself with a pair of handguns that fire hypodermic projectiles containing hazardous narcotics. These projectiles have been tailored to pierce personal body armor. He developed a sedating truth serum during his time as an investigator. He has created advanced automatons, including the sentient superhuman android, Volton. He perfected a “dimension smasher”, which teleported beings from other dimensions. His oscillotron device can trigger major earthquakes. He is an accomplished investigator and hand-to-hand combatant.

AU Strengths and Weaknesses: Doctor Nemesis possesses no superhuman durability or resistances. He is also an incredibly arrogant bastard, which often works to his detriment.

History: James Bradley was born in 1906 in San

Francisco, his mother dying during childbirth. His father, having being impaled during a rampage by the first Sentinel—for which he had created a power source—died before he was born. He was presumably raised by his maternal grandparents.

During the second world war, Dr. James Bradley worked with the late Thomas Horton on the creation of the Human Torch, AKA Jim Hammond. The two ultimately parted ways and James struck out on his own, taking an incomplete android prototype they created with him. Bradley activated the android and told him that he was Guy Newton, a young, up-and-coming inventor who had come up with a means of generating electricity in his body. Taking Bradley’s word for it, the android began adventuring as a costumed hero named Volton.

Needing money, Bradley became a doctor at Mercy Hospital in New York City. Somewhere along the way, he resolved to become a superhero. Wearing a surgeon’s mask and armed with a hypodermic needle gun of his own design, he fought crime as Doctor Nemesis.

In 1942, Bradley went up against a villain known as the Surgeon, who used trained rats to spread a modified strain of the Black Plague. He managed to stop the villain, only to discover that he was in fact Dr. Blackston, the superintendent of another city hospital.

Some time after this incident, Bradley was approached by agents of the Third Reich, who wanted to recruit him to their cause. Disillusioned by his experience with the Surgeon and feeling that his talents were underappreciated, Bradley agreed. Under their orders, he organized the Battle Axis, a team made up of other jaded superheroes—including Volton. By this time, he began calling himself Doctor Death, and adopted a decidedly more malevolent demeanor. The Battle Axis embarked upon a complex scheme aimed at forcing the USA to withdraw from the war known as “Project Mojave”. This plot revolved around the oscillotron, a device that Bradley had invented. It was designed to cause a severe earthquake on the west coast that would destroy war industry plants and release poisonous gas from underground storage. The idea was that the USA would leave the war to deal with the resulting crisis. Knowing that the Invaders might be able to stop them, Battle Axis attempted to neutralize the heroes. In the end, the Invaders were able to stop their plan. During the battle that ensued, Volton switched sides and attacked Doctor Death with electric blasts. Bradley was left for dead.

Unknown to either the Invaders or his Nazi superiors, Bradley survived. Repentant, he returned to his civilian job and resumed fighting crime as Doctor Nemesis. When World War II ended, the still-remorseful Bradley set out to track down escaped Nazi scientists and stop them (and their creations) from doing harm. His mutant power ensured he would remain physically fit until the twenty-first century. When the first wave of anti-mutant hysteria struck, Bradley had no interest in getting involved, as he was busy hunting test tube Nazi super-soldiers and deranged scientists. But when the Anti-Mutant Task Force in conjunction with the CIA made an attempt on his life in South America, Bradley made for North America and the resistance. He has remained there since, putting his talents to their best possible use in the service of mutantkind—and his own best interests.
