His head was swimming as he headed down the hallway to the room he and Kit had claimed when they'd gotten to the Helicarrier the night before. Not, this time, because he was trying to block anything out. That would have been familiar, and almost welcome at this point given the evening's revelations. Jean, Hope - there'd been a lot to process there, but he'd managed it, one step at a time. The conversation he'd just had with Johnny, though... He wanted to say yes. Or at least, he thought he did. They'd asked him, and it was Johnny, and because...god, he wasn't sure why, exactly, but the idea definitely had its appeal. Maybe just because it seemed like a fresh start, a way to start putting the past behind him. But Kit had mentioned wanting to go back to Wakanda, and putting the past behind him was a daunting prospect. He sighed, pausing outside the door to their room and resting one hand against the wall. They needed to talk. He'd told Flamehead that, and Johnny'd said he understood. If Kit needed to go back to Wakanda, all bets were off. And if not - well, before he made his decision, there was something he needed to do, even if the night before they took on the government was undoubtedly the stupidest time to do it, bar none. Finally, he took a breath and opened the door. The room was dark, and he peered inside, wondering whether Kit had already gone to bed or if she was still down at the party. There was no sign of her, though, so he flipped on the lightswitch and crossed over to box containing his notebooks. He'd leave her a note, he decided. Probably better anyway, considering he wasn't at all sure she'd want to come along. |

It'd been a good night. Interesting, in a lot of ways. A little sad in others. And with some surprises, too, along with all the rest, but still good. For the first time in a long, long time, Kitty felt like...well maybe a little like herself again. The self she sometimes barely remembered being a long time ago. Or maybe the self that she should've been, if none of this had ever happened. Maybe she'd never really be that person, the one she'd have been if the world and her life in general hadn't gone to crap. The one who would possibly have been close to the older version of herself that was here now. But she couldn't be the person she used to be, either, and trying to go back to that wasn't doing her or anyone else any favors. That just kinda left figuring out who she should be, and for once she thought she might be making some progress there. If she squinted, she could almost see it and the brunette was pretty sure it was better. Maybe a lot better. Now, though, it was getting late and she'd noticed that Bobby never came back to the party. That had her worrying a little, especially since she'd been fairly sure something was up when he'd left. Something he was trying to not let her see, or didn't want to tell her about or talk about just then. At the time, she'd figured it might have something to do with his talk with Rogue and Remy. Or his other talk with the other Kitty Pryde and her strange choice of boyfriends. She'd expected him to show back up at some point and, when she realized she hadn't, and that it was getting kinda late, Kitty decided it was time to track him down. Except she wasn't exactly sure where to start looking, but their room seemed like a good starting point. Getting off the elevator, she made her way down the hall, phasing through the door and there he was. Well, that was a lot easier than she'd figured it would be. "Hey," she said, tilting her head and trying to gauge his mood. Hmm...yeah, something was definitely up. God, she hoped it wasn't another catastrophe of some kind. "I thought you were coming back to the party. I was starting to get worried." |

He'd found a notebook with blank pages and set it down on the floor next to the box, and was rummaging through it for a pencil (had to be one in there somewhere) when he suddenly heard a voice behind him. "Hey," she said, and Bobby turned to see Kit looking at him, head tilted to one side as if trying to figure out what he was doing. He smiled crookedly, feeling oddly like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and abandoned both search and notebook to get to his feet. "I thought you were coming back to the party. I was starting to get worried." Damn, he had said that, hadn't he? Bobby's expression turned sheepish as he shrugged, wiping the dust from the box off his hands and onto his pants as he took a step towards her. "Sorry," he offered, genuinely meaning it. "It was kind of a one thing went into the next type of night, and I never quite made it." He cocked his head, considering, and added, "Did you want to go back down? We can, if you want." Not the best place to talk, maybe, but there were worse, and she'd seemed as if she were having a good time at the party - no reason to ruin it for her if she wanted to head back for a while. He could always go afterwards. It wouldn't take long. |

That was an awfully guilty look on Bobby's face and Kitty cocked an questioning eyebrow his way. He hadn't seriously been up here rummaging through boxes the whole time, had he? And what the heck was he writing that he was getting rid of it so fast. Whatever it was, she decided to save that question for after she asked the one that'd made her decide to come looking for him. She'd been pretty sure he'd said he was coming back to the party, and he hadn't, so she couldn't help but worry a little. That made him look even more sheepish than he did already as he shrugged, wiped the dust off his hands (onto his jeans of course. Guys), and stepped toward her. "Sorry," he offered, genuinely meaning it. "It was kind of a one thing went into the next type of night, and I never quite made it." He cocked his head, considering, and added, "Did you want to go back down? We can, if you want." Okay, that had her eyebrow going up a little more, since it sounded like he'd been awfully busy with something. What, she wasn't sure since most everybody was at the party and she couldn't really picture him hanging out with Madison in the computer lab. Or if he had, she definitely needed to hear about it. As for going back to the party, though... Kitty shook her head, then wrinkled her nose a little. "No, that's okay. Unless you want to risk getting roped into Karaoke time by Ali. There's been some...really interesting duets going on," she told him with a grin, then looked down toward the box of notebooks, "Don't tell me you've been up here the whole time reading those. Or writing in them or something? Because, come on, even the karaoke wasn't that bad." Plus it wasn't like him to miss a party, and that kinda made her worry a little more about what'd been going on since he vanished. |

Kitty's eyebrow climbed doubtfully as he explained that he'd gotten sidetracked. Okay, put that way, he had to admit it sounded lame, and apparently she had doubts as to whether or not he was telling the truth, especially considering she'd caught him with his hands in the box of notebooks. It was true, though, and if she wanted to head back down to the party he had no real objections. He had thinking to do, yeah - but it could wait a while. Finally, she shook her head, wrinkling her nose. "No, that's okay. Unless you want to risk getting roped into Karaoke time by Ali. There's been some...really interesting duets going on," she added, and he laughed and shook his head. Karaoke sounded fun, he had to admit - he'd missed most of it earlier - but he'd pass on the duets. Seeing Judd and that giantesss from Snakes sing could be even worse than watching them dance had been. ...on second thought, nothing could be worse than that. She looked down at the box, though, and asked what was probably the inevitable question. "Don't tell me you've been up here the whole time reading those. Or writing in them or something? Because, come on, even the karaoke wasn't that bad." He shook his head and smiled in what he hoped was a reassuring manner. "Nah, just looking for a pencil and some paper to leave you a note. Found the paper," he gestured at the notebook on the floor, then pouted a little, "but the pencil was hiding out somewhere." He smiled as he went and sat down on the edge of the bed, notebook and pencil quest abandoned, and patted the space next to him. "So, did you get up and sing?" he asked teasingly. "Because I'd have liked to have seen that." He could postpone the rest for a while, right? Other than being obviously worried about him, she seemed happy. No reason to blow that any sooner than he had to. |

Yeah, she'd kind of escaped just in time. No way was she letting Ali drag her up on stage to try to sing. No one would thank either of them for that. Ever. She'd leave that to Dazzler. Who it was really good to see and know was alive, but yeah. Still not that gullible, no matter how big a fan she'd been as a kid. Bobby just laughed, though, and shook his head and the brunette rolled her eyes good naturedly, grinning back. Yeah, he would probably like that, wouldn't he? But she just wasn't the karaoke type. Him and Johnny, though? In a heartbeat. Seriously, though, he hadn't been up here the whole time since he'd left the last time, had he? That didn't really seem like Bobby, especially when there was a party going on. Then again, maybe she didn't really know anymore. Not like she had two years ago, or two years ago for him. To her, it was still just yesterday and there were times she still had problems coming to grips with that. He was shaking his head, though, smiling a kind of reassuring smile, so she assumed that wasn't the thing, or things, that'd made him forget he was supposed to come back again. Not that it was a huge deal, but she'd started to worry about him. "Nah, just looking for a pencil and some paper to leave you a note. Found the paper," he gestured at the notebook on the floor, then pouted a little, "but the pencil was hiding out somewhere." Tilting her head, she gave him a curious look as he went to sit on the edge of the bed, apparently giving up the search for the long lost pencil. "Leave me a note for what?" she asked. "So, did you get up and sing?" he asked teasingly patting the space next to him on the bed in invitation. "Because I'd have liked to have seen that." Wrinkling her nose at him, she went over an plopped down next to him, nudging him with one shoulder. "I thought you liked most've the people down there," she returned, shooting him a teasing grin, "But nooooo. No way. You know I can't sing. Everybody doesn't need public proof of that." Nor would they want it. She wouldn't inflict that on anyone. Well, maybe Emma, but probably no body else. |

He could understand why Kitty'd guess he might've come up to their room and gotten lost in his own memories. It had been tempting, actually - to come back and just think about Jean, revisit the past where she and the others were still alive, and forget about the incontrovertable truth to the contrary he'd been presented with at the party. He hadn't, though. Partially because he'd promised, partially just because there was so much going on now that he really hadn't had time. He honestly had just gone into the box of notebooks for a paper and pencil. Unfortunately, the pencil hadn't been willing to be found. "Leave me a note for what?" Kitty asked as he took a seat on the bed. Mmm, good question. The question was, how should he answer? Just blurting out that he was taking a road trip wouldn't work - she'd want to know where and why. He'd have to tell her the truth, he knew that. It wouldn't be fair not to, or to let her find out from someone else. On the other hand, the answers were all sort of tangled together, and he wasn't entirely sure where to start. "Oh, just to let you know where I was going to be," he hedged, smiling crookedly, then patted the space next to him on the bed in invitation and changed the topic over to whether or not Ali had conned her into singing. Which he doubted, but hey. Stranger things had happened just tonight. Kitty wrinkled her nose at him as she came over and plopped down, nudging him with her shoulder. "I thought you liked most've the people down there," she returned, shooting him a teasing grin. He chuckled and tried to look as if he were considering that, but the effect was pretty much ruined by his inability to hold a straight face. "But nooooo. No way. You know I can't sing. Everybody doesn't need public proof of that." Bobby rolled his eyes and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, turning a little to better see her face. "It's karaoke, Kit," he pointed out. "Anyone can sing and sound halfway decent. Even me." Well, okay, maybe that was an overstatement, but he'd never let that stop him. He grinned and kissed her playfully, then shrugged a little. "Besides, you're not that bad. No one would've run out screaming their ears were bleeding." His grin broadened, and he added, "They save that for Johnny." Which, okay, was maybe an exaggeration. But hell. It's not like Flamehead wouldn't say the same of him. Just, y'know, with somewhat more cause. He cocked his head, his smile softening a little, and looked apologetic as he reached up to run his finger down her cheek. "I am sorry I made you worry, though. Did you have a good time, at least?" |

Well, that piqued her curiosity. What had he been planning to leave her a note for? "Oh, just to let you know where I was going to be," he hedged and her head tilted to the side a little. That answer wasn't exactly much like an actual answer. What was he up to? Kitty was trying to decide whether to start worrying again, since it wasn't like him to be all that vague, but then she mentioned Ali and her karaoke mission of trying to punish everyone by making them listen to people who should never, ever been heard in public. Herself included. Bobby, of course, thought that'd be a great idea, but then she'd always suspected he might be a little tone deaf. Man, and here she thought he actually liked most of the people down there. But apparently not, she decided, as she grinned and nudged him in the shoulder, plopping down next to him on the side of the bed. For good measure, she threw in a wrinkle of her nose, because yeah. That was a bad thing to do to people you were supposed to like and he knew she couldn't sing. Why on earth would she want to prove it in public? Even for Ali? Of course, Bobby just rolled his eyes at her, slinging an arm around her shoulder and turning to face her a little. "It's karaoke, Kit," he pointed out. "Anyone can sing and sound halfway decent. Even me." Kitty lifted an eyebrow a little skeptically at that. She loved him, but yeah. She'd heard him and Johnny sing. A karaoke machine couldn't work miracles for her or anyone else. "Besides, you're not that bad. No one would've run out screaming their ears were bleeding." His grin broadened, and he added, "They save that for Johnny." Oh yeah, says him. "You don't know that," she countered with another grin twitching at her lips. "Though I admit Johnny's actually a lot worse than me." Which was kinda sad. Really sad, since it was a whole other level of bad. Then he tilted his head, smile going a little softer and she tilted her own a little as his finger trailed down her cheek, giving her an apologetic look. Even if she didn't know for what. "I am sorry I made you worry, though. Did you have a good time, at least?" Nodding, she smiled over at him, reaching up to lay her hand over his. "Yeah, it was fun. We haven't done anything like that in so long." Pausing, she frowned slightly and added, "Actually, I don't guess we've ever done anything like that, huh? Not since all this started. But it was nice. We hardly ever get to just hang out and talk and do stuff, y'know?" And it was nice and it had made her feel almost normal again, but it was also kind of beside the point. That being the one that Bobby seemed determined to skirt around, or ignore. "You're not gonna sidetrack me that easy, though," Kitty pointed out with another lift of her brow his way. "So, are you gonna tell me what the note you'd planned on leaving for me was about? Or do I just have to guess?" |

For some reason, Kit seemed unimpressed by his reasoning that karaoke machines didn't make everything better. Probably, he reasoned, because she wanted an excuse not to get up and sing. He and Johnny had done it before, though, and no one had run screaming. Considering Johnny was a whole lot worse than Kitty was with a microphone, he figured she'd have been pretty safe, overall. "You don't know that," she countered with another grin twitching at her lips. "Though I admit Johnny's actually a lot worse than me." "Johnny's a whole lot worse than pretty much everyone," he pointed out, which was nothing less than the truth. Johnny's lack of vocal talents, however, weren't really an issue. Him having worried her was another story. Hopefully she'd at least had a good time at the party. She'd seemed like she was when he'd left. She smiled at him reassuringly, laying her hand over his where it rested on her cheek. "Yeah, it was fun. We haven't done anything like that in so long." Pausing, she frowned slightly and added, "Actually, I don't guess we've ever done anything like that, huh? Not since all this started. But it was nice. We hardly ever get to just hang out and talk and do stuff, y'know?" He nodded, sighing a little. "Yeah, I know," he admitted. There'd been that one time at the bar, but even that wasn't the same. Just their team, hanging out. It'd been fun, but it wasn't hardly on the same scale. Some of the people at the party - well, he'd seen them now and then on the webcam. A few times, when the teams had run into each other. But not just to talk to. Not in years. "You're not gonna sidetrack me that easy, though," she said, and he rolled his eyes a little, smiling crookedly. He hadn't exactly been trying to sidetrack her - well, maybe a little. But only because there was so much to say, and he honestly wasn't sure how to start. "So, are you gonna tell me what the note you'd planned on leaving for me was about? Or do I just have to guess?" He let out a soft laugh and then tried to look awkward, an effect that was ruined by the fact he couldn't quite keep a straight face. "Well, I was going to run off to the other dimension with your counterpart's boyfriend," he said as casually as he could manage. "Seeing as he's such a nice guy and all." He let it hang for a couple of seconds, then shook his head, his eyes fixing on hers as he turned his hand to tangle their fingers. "No, seriously, I was thinking of taking a road trip," he admitted as he brought their joined hands back down to the bed. "The timing's crap, I know, but...I kinda need to go back to Westchester for a while." He tilted his head a little, studying her face. No idea how she'd take the next question, but he needed to ask it anyway. He'd have gone alone if he had to, but... Well, he really would rather not have to, and this wasn't a trip he wanted to drag Flamehead along on. It wouldn't be the same. "Did you maybe want to come with?" he asked hesitantly. "If not, it's okay - I should be back in an hour or two, tops." And he would. Hell, he hadn't wanted to step foot near the place in years, himself. Just...he kind of felt the need, now. |

Yeah, yeah. Johnny was an awful singer. Everyone knew it, whether they wanted to or not pretty much. He never had been exactly shy. But just because he was worse than her didn't mean she needed to make sure everybody else had public evidence of that, either. If Bobby wanted karaoke, he should go back down and do it. Maybe he and Johnny could do another duet. The party itself had been fun, though, and she'd had a good time. A really good time. It was something they hadn't done in so long. Or, really, after a seconds though, Kitty wasn't sure they'd ever done it at all. Not like this, not with everyone. There'd been a time when their group would do some celebrating now and then, after a particularly successful mission, but even those had tapered off. When the missions had started getting less successful, there didn't seem to be as much point in celebrating. So, yeah, tonight was nice. It was nice to be able to just hang out and talk and whatever, without worrying too much about all the other things that tended to get in a way. With a sigh, Bobby nodded. "Yeah, I know," he admitted but didn't really say anything more. Which gave her the in she needed to steer things back to that thing he wasn't telling her about. She didn't know what thing yet, but he'd definitely been dodging a little when she asked him what he was leaving her a note for. Just because she'd been gone a couple of years didn't mean she was that easy to sidetrack. She'd even give him a choice, albeit a teasing one. He could tell her or she could just start guessing. Either way, she was gonna get it out of him. That at least got a little bit of a laugh from him and an attempt at looking awkward before he gave up. "Well, I was going to run off to the other dimension with your counterpart's boyfriend," he said as casually as he could manage which was pretty casual for an amazingly weird and wrong thing like that. "Seeing as he's such a nice guy and all." With a soft, not at all believing snort, she rolled her eyes. "Oh yeah. He's a real charmer. He'll give Remy a run for his money, I'm sure." Uggh, god. Yeah, so much wrong. Then, though, she couldn't stop herself from grinning at him and adding, "But if you're interested in going that way, I think you'd probably have more luck with the one from here. He seems to get around more." And if that didn't get him to give up and tell her, she wasn't sure what would. Provided she didn't short his brain out, anyway. "No, seriously, I was thinking of taking a road trip," he admitted as he brought their joined hands back down to the bed and she gave his a little squeeze, along with a curious look. It was kind of a weird time to hop in Johnny's rat trap of a car and head for Daytona or something. Did people even do that anymore? "The timing's crap, I know, but...I kinda need to go back to Westchester for a while." That had the curiosity mixing with confusion as she frowned a little. Bobby was kinda watching her face, but she wasn't exactly sure what to say, other than, "For how long a while?" It wasn't like there was anything left. There couldn't be. She remembered seeing it all go down - the roof caving in, fire, explosions - just before she lost consciousness and woke up in the Camp. What was he thinking he'd find, other than rubble and a life that none of them had lived in years? "Did you maybe want to come with?" he asked hesitantly. "If not, it's okay - I should be back in an hour or two, tops." Biting her lip, pad of her thumb brushing back and forth idly on his hand, Kitty considered that for a little bit. Did she want to go back there? See it all again? Not like she had in that other place, where it was all right there, whole and undamaged and just like she remembered? Did she want to face the reality? The reality that would be...scorched earth? Nothing? The undeniable reality that it was all well and truly gone? Could she afford not to? Taking a breath and making up her mind, she looked back up at Bobby and smiled a little, nodding only slightly hesitantly. "Yeah. Yeah, I want to go with you. I think..." Letting her breath out slowly, Kitty lifted her shoulders in a shrug, "I think maybe I need to see it, too. I think it might be good to do that." Not comfortable, and not happy, but still good. The only way she'd ever make peace with the past was to face it. |

He couldn't just answer, could he? Not when he could buy a few more minutes by making up the lamest, most disturbing explanation he possibly could. Running off with Wisdom's doppleganger was a good choice from the disturbing standpoint. He couldn't even figure out what the other Kitty was doing with the guy. Of course, given the rep he'd heard their Wisdom had? Maybe it was just that he - yeah, no. His brain wasn't going there. Not even for the sake of the joke. Kitty snorted and rolled her eyes, making it clear she didn't believe a word of that. "Oh yeah. He's a real charmer. He'll give Remy a run for his money, I'm sure." "Well, someone needs to keep the Cajun on his toes," he pointed out, then waited as Kitty shot him that mischievous grin that always boded badly for him. "But if you're interested in going that way, I think you'd probably have more luck with the one from here. He seems to get around more." "Pass, thanks," he countered, shuddering a little. "From what I heard, the guy had an ongoing thing with that blue teleporter from the Brites. Definitely not going there." At all, ever. As she knew. Deciding that he should just dive in before she could come up with anything even more disturbing than that, he admitted to his actual reasons for leaving a note, hoping that even if she didn't want to come along, she wouldn't be too upset with the idea. It was crappy timing, and he knew that - but he didn't think it would wait until Friday. Not only was it not long to keep Johnny hanging that long, but he wasn't sure he'd be able to settle down until after he went. He watched her face, though, fingers stroking the back of her hand, as she seemed to mull that over, frowning a little as she asked how long he'd be gone. He wasn't sure, exactly - he didn't think he'd want or need to stay long, and it wouldn't take that long to get there, but the bigger question was whether or not she wanted to come along. If not, he'd go alone, but... Yeah. It was up to her. He wasn't going to guilt her into coming if she wasn't ready, and he could hardly blame her if she wasn't. She bit her lip, her thumb tracing over the back of his hand, and he considered withdrawing the offer. She didn't need to come, and if she didn't want to, it really wasn't a big deal; they could talk when he got back. But finally, she took a deep breath and forced a smile and nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I want to go with you. I think..." Letting her breath out slowly, Kitty lifted her shoulders in a shrug, "I think maybe I need to see it, too. I think it might be good to do that." He nodded, smiling a little himself as he squeezed her hand. "Yeah, kind of feeling the same way. Sort of a goodbye, y'know?" He leaned in and brushed his lips over hers, then forced a grin. "Have you seen Johnny's car yet? We can take it if you want. Or ice slide, I'm good with whichever." The latter was riskier in some ways, though he'd gotten pretty good over the years with reusing the ice from his slides as he went. On the other hand, he couldn't deny that Johnny's car stuck out like a sore thumb, so it was six of one, half a dozen of the other. Besides, if anything happened, they could always take a dive into the subway channels without the car. Not bringing back Johnny's baby? Yeah. They might as well not come back, themselves. |

Oh man, were they seriously talking about Bobby dating one of the set of Wisdoms they had now? Even joking that was kinda...really wrong and not a thought she wanted in her head. Ever. At all. Did she mention ever? Still, he'd started it and she couldn't really pass up the chance to point out that, if he was interested in one, he'd probably have better luck with the one from their own universe. From what she'd heard, he seemed to get around more. "Pass, thanks," he countered, shuddering a little. "From what I heard, the guy had an ongoing thing with that blue teleporter from the Brites. Definitely not going there." It took her a second to figure out who he meant, since the Brites hadn't had a blue teleporter the last time she knew. Which was the day before yesterday for her, but significantly longer for him. Right, the one that'd been hanging on Black Tom and looked kinda disturbingly like Mystique. Guess he'd moved on, since from what she'd seen (and she'd really tried very, very hard not to see more than she had to) he'd been hanging with Jessica and her group most of the night. Yeah, okay, that was more than enough thinking about strange, English former spies. It wasn't like she cared who or what Pete Wisdom happened to be sleeping with and she really didn't want to know about it. Of course, the next subject wasn't exactly an easy one, either. Just for different reasons. He wanted to go back to Westchester. Bobby wanted, maybe needed, to go back to Westchester. Not just to Westchester, she knew, but to whatever was left of the mansion. Or where the mansion used to be. It couldn't be much. Most of it had come tumbling down that night, she remembered seeing part of the walls give way, the roof cave in, before she was out. Her last memory of the place that had been home for so long. Did she want to replace that memory with what was probably a worse one? One where there was even less left of that dream than there had been that day? Or maybe the better question was, could she afford not to? Because they'd lost a lot then, but the dream of what they'd set out to do, at the core, was still there wasn't it? It was here with all these groups and people - humans, mutants, metahumans, aliens - all trying to work together to get this all back where it should be. And maybe, like that box she'd pulled from under the other Kitty's old bed in that other world, seeing it, facing it...maybe that would help. Maybe it would let her start putting the past behind her if she could confront it, deal with it for what it was, not what she wanted it to be Bobby was watching her face carefully and that made her feel a little self-conscious, but she held tight to his hand and took a deep breath. Managed a smile as she nodded. Yeah. She wanted to go. Maybe she needed to go as much as he did. Maybe it was another step toward being a person she liked again. He smiled and squeezed her hand and her own smile became easier, less forced as she tightened her fingers on his. "Yeah, kind of feeling the same way. Sort of a goodbye, y'know?" He leaned in and brushed his lips over hers, then forced a grin that didn't look a whole lot more real than her smile had before. But what could you do? "Have you seen Johnny's car yet? We can take it if you want. Or ice slide, I'm good with whichever." Wrinkling her nose at him a little, her smile went a bit crooked and she rolled her eyes playfully. "Or we could just borrow one of the like two dozen teleporters running around here tonight. They could drop us off and then come back after a while to pick us up." And most of them wouldn't even mind, she didn't think. They'd understand. Most of the Resistance was better at that than she tended to give them credit for and she needed to remember that. "If you don't wanna do that, though," she added thoughtfully, leaning over against his shoulder a little and tilting her head to peer up into his eyes, "then probably the car. It'll be a lot harder to keep the ice slide from drawing attention." Even if he managed to evaporate it behind them, it was still pretty noticeable. She missed doing that with him, though, "And no," she added with a half-smirk, "I haven't seen the car yet, but since it's Johnny I can probably kinda guess." Still, she was leaning toward teleporter, because if they broke Johnny's car he'd have a fit. |

Was it a good idea, taking Kit along to a place that could only summon up memories of the night everything had gone to hell? He wasn't sure what they'd find in Westchester - not much, if his memories were in any way accurate. There hadn't been a hell of a lot left of the mansion when they'd left, and he couldn't imagine it looked any better, five years later. He knew better, though, than to argue with her about it, or to ask if she was sure. If she felt she wanted or needed to go, he wasn't about to tell her no, even if he maybe should. Maybe she did. Or maybe, a small voice in the back of his mind supplied, it was just that he needed her to come along, so he didn't have to face it alone. Whichever was the case (and he was willing to admit they weren't mutually exclusive), he couldn't help but feel relieved that she was coming along. Telling her the rest there likely wouldn't be any easier than telling her here, but it wouldn't be harder, either. Which left transportation. Taking one of the newly liberated planes was definitely out if they didn't want to draw unwanted attention, and while he could get them there via ice slide, it wasn't without its risks, either. Johnny'd likely loan the car if he asked, but... Yeah. If he broke it, he'd never heard the end of it. Kitty wrinkled her nose at him, her smile tilting as she rolled her eyes. "Or we could just borrow one of the like two dozen teleporters running around here tonight. They could drop us off and then come back after a while to pick us up." Bobby grimaced a little. She was right, he knew - some of them likely wouldn't even question why they wanted to go, and it was the safest way to go, he knew that. Just...he'd kind of counted on the trip to get his thoughts together, though why he thought an extra hour would make much of a difference, he didn't know. Kit must have picked up on his hesitation, because she continued. "If you don't wanna do that, though," she added thoughtfully, leaning over against his shoulder a little and tilting her head to peer up into his eyes, "then probably the car. It'll be a lot harder to keep the ice slide from drawing attention." He nodded, grimacing. No ice slide, check. Probably better not. Still... "And no," she added with a half-smirk, "I haven't seen the car yet, but since it's Johnny I can probably kinda guess." He laughed just a little, and shook his head as he smiled at her, sliding his arm around her back. "No, no you can't," he disputed, thinking of Johnny's hodge podge of a car. "It has to be seen to be believed. But you're right," he acknowledged, his smile tilting a bit, "we can just flag down a teleporter. I saw Laynia around earlier - if she's not busy, I'm sure she'd drop us off." No reason, after all, to take unnecessary risks or risk drawing attention. Just going was probably stupid enough. |

Okay. They were going. Right. That decision was made and, though she was definitely feeling more than a few nerves about going back to where the mansion used to be, Kitty felt a little better now that it was. Now it was just figuring out transportation and, compared to the rest, that was easy enough. Not a lot of choices, really. Flying a Sentinel or a stolen SHIELD jet over to Westchester were kind of out, considering the attention drawing potential there. Ice sliding was less conspicuous, but still waaaay noticeable, even if Bobby managed to clean up after them. Johnny's car... Okay, so if she had to guess, from the look on Bobby's face and the way he said it, it probably wasn't all that inconspicuous, either. So that kinda left the obvious, right? Like one've the, oh, what seemed like a couple of dozen teleporters that were around now. Or not, since Bobby was kinda making faces at that idea, not seeming at all overly thrilled with it. But it wasn't like most of them would ask questions, or care, and they could come back for them later she was sure. Still, if he was that against it, maybe they should consider Johnny's car after all. Even if it was weird looking, it wouldn't be as weird looking as a couple of people on an ice slide, despite the fact that that one sounded like the most fun of the various options. Being attacked by Sentinels and/or SHIELD soldiers really would put a damper on the evening. And, no, she hadn't actually seen the car in question, but it was Johnny. She could guess and, really, how bad could it possibly be? Bobby let out a laugh, shook his head, smiles and slipped his arm around her back. Slipping hers around his waist, she shifted closer and waited to hear what kinda Frank-car could possibly draw that much attention. [b["No, no you can't," he disputed, thinking of Johnny's hodge podge of a car. "It has to be seen to be believed. But you're right," he acknowledged, his smile tilting a bit, "we can just flag down a teleporter. I saw Laynia around earlier - if she's not busy, I'm sure she'd drop us off."[/b] Kitty nodded. That'd be easy enough, since she was pretty sure she and Mikhail were still somewhere down at the party, but... Well, Bobby still didn't seem all that happy with the idea, whether she was right or not. "I think she's still down at the party," Kitty replied, still looking up at his face. "I'm pretty sure she won't mind. Or if she does, there are what? Three or four other teleporters on her team that probably would do it." Though she didn't think they wanted Ariel. Who knew what the heck kind of door she'd end up sending them through. "But..." Pausing, she bit her lip uncertainly, giving him a gentle squeeze, "if you'd rather drive, or even take a chance on the ice sliding, it's okay. It'll take longer, but I'm good with however we get there. It's not like we don't have the time." |

So, personal transporation was out. He couldn't argue that, considering it made a whole lot more sense to flag down one of the teleporters and just hitch a ride than risk unwanted notice taking any of the other available routes. He'd just... No. It didn't matter how they got there, not really. What mattered was going. Kitty nodded as he pointed out that Laynia was a likely option if they wanted a ride. He'd seen her earlier - had meant to go talk to her, but had never ended up actually doing it. "I think she's still down at the party," Kitty replied, still looking up at his face. "I'm pretty sure she won't mind. Or if she does, there are what? Three or four other teleporters on her team that probably would do it." He nodded, trying to remember the other members of Laynia's team. There was a blonde girl who Tabby used to talk about - Aria or something like that - and that girl who used to hang around with Dr. Strange. Topaz. She'd gone off with Ramsey at some point, he was pretty sure, and he couldn't remember having seen them come back. He paused, and inwardly rolled his eyes. It really didn't matter. Kitty was right, one of them would be happy to take them. "But..." she said hesitantly, and he blinked to see her looking at him, apparently uncertain. "if you'd rather drive, or even take a chance on the ice sliding, it's okay. It'll take longer, but I'm good with however we get there. It's not like we don't have the time." He shook his head, offering a reassuring smile. "Nah, it's fine. No point drawing attention right now." He smiled crookedly and stroked his hand over her back. "I just - sometimes I kind of miss being able to hop in the car and drive, y'know?" He grinned a little and shrugged. "Not that Johnny and I never do it, because we do. But having to worry about Sentinels zeroing in takes something out of the whole experience." Sometimes, at least. Sometimes, when he didn't really care if the Sentinels zoomed in or not? Road trips still rocked. |
