Hey, Bobby was the one always saying his whole costume was just underwear anyway. It's not like he'd probably care if Yana was looking at his butt now, right? Yana just grinned back at her. "Actually, I remember that," she admitted and Kitty frowned. Wow, she'd been looking at the X-Men's butts when she was six? Because that would've kind of have to have been when she mostly remembered it from. Apparently, her former roommate had got a way earlier start than she'd imagined. "Didn't he have boots, too? I thought I remembered boots." Kitty thought for few seconds, trying to remember if there had been boots with the underwear. It wasn't like she really knew Bobby back then and the time or two he'd been around she was sick with the flu or something else had been going on, it seemed like. "Yeah, I think there were boots," she finally decided with a nod and making a face. "I always said the Professor didn't have any sense of fashion at all." Because, seriously, who paired boots with briefs? Did Professor Xavier seriously look at that 'costume' and decide it was totally something people should wear in public? These questions really didn't have any answer, since the Prof had vanished years ago off with the Shi'ar and...yeah, okay. She didn't really want to think about that, or what she and Rachel from that other dimension had talked about in relation to that. Not right now. It did lead to some other questions, though. Like what had Yana done with Jamie, exactly? Had she just left him passed out in a pile of dupes somewhere to pop over and wake her up so she could inform her she'd had sex? Being that this was Yana they were talking about, yeah, this was entirely possible. Her best friend rolled her eyes at her, though, then leaned over to prop her elbows on her knees. "Serve you right if I said yes," she pointed out, though Kitty wasn't sure what about that served her right, when it was poor Jamie who'd been left there, unconscious in a pile of his own dupes, "but no. He went to go call the other dimension to find out if the dupe he left there was still, y'know, there." She wrinkled her nose a little, considering. "He should be, I think - I've never heard of any of his dupes just popping out of existence - but he's never left one behind in another dimension, either." She shrugged and grinned, and added, "Actually, telling you about my sex life was just a bonus. I came to ask a favor. If, y'know, you're not too tired after partying all night?" Kitty rolled her eyes in return. "There wasn't that much partying. Just a little too much wine. Or something." Had it been wine? It wasn't beer, and she didn't think it was whiskey. Yeah, must've been wine. "And seriously?" she asked, blinking a little at her best friend, "He just...left them a dupe? As a replacement Jamie?" Would that even work? Well, if it hadn't vanished, anyway, but...she wasn't sure the people that knew that Jamie would think a random dupe was an okay substitute. So weird. Anyway, Yana wanted a favor, apparently, in return for telling her about her sex life? "What kind of favor," Kitty asked curiously, then grinned and added, "And no, before you ask, I don't want any spare Jamie dupes that're running around now." Not that that's what she'd expected her to ask, but you know. Best to go ahead and get that outta the way. |

It had definitely been cold when he'd picked her up. She remembered that, and remembered, vaguely, wondering why Piotr's friend (she'd assumed he was, because obviously, he could do wonderful things like her brother, so he must be) was running around in a bathing soon. And boots. She was almost certain there'd been boots as well, because she remembered thinking at the time that at least his feet probably weren't cold. Silly? Yes. But hey, she'd been six. It had made sense to her at the time. "Yeah, I think there were boots," she finally decided with a nod and making a face. "I always said the Professor didn't have any sense of fashion at all." Illyana snorted. "Did anyone actually argue that?" she asked, honestly curious. If they had, they'd needed their eyes examined. She grinned, though, and added, "Of course, you didn't either. But at least you kept making an effort." Which, really, was the best that could possibly be said about a couple of Kitty's "uniforms." At least when the New Mutants had finally busted loose, they'd done it in style. Somehow, though, contemplation of Kitty's fashion sense (or lack thereof) segued into Jamie's whereabouts, and that was easier to answer, despite Kitty's conviction that she'd left him unconscious in a pile of his own dupes. He was off, checking on himself. Having explained that, though, she figured the time was about right to mention the favor she'd come to ask. Fun though talking about her sex life was (if she could just get Pryde to reciprocate, it'd be even more fun), it really was just a bonus. Her hair wasn't going to cut itself. Of course, if Kitty'd partied too much the night before? There was probably someone else around she could ask. She said as much, teasingly, mostly to see her former roomie's reaction, and Kitty obligingly rolled her eyes. "There wasn't that much partying. Just a little too much wine. Or something." Illyana arched her eyebrows. Private party, then. But before she could make any comments about that, Kitty continued. "And seriously?" she asked, blinking a little at her best friend, "He just...left them a dupe? As a replacement Jamie?" She frowned a little and shrugged. "Well, yeah. I mean, a Jamie is a Jamie, pretty much," she pointed out. "I mean, either Terry or I dated one for years and never knew the difference, I don't suppose the other dimension people will either." Granted, she was still betting on Terry for that, but...well, she could be wrong about that. It wouldn't have been the first time, and at the moment, she really didn't care. He'd come back. For her. It was more than enough. "What kind of favor," Kitty asked curiously, then grinned and added, "And no, before you ask, I don't want any spare Jamie dupes that're running around now." She laughed and raised her eyebrows. "You're sure? I could definitely spare a couple, and they usually give pretty good backrubs," she teased, even though she had no intention of sharing Jamie with anyone again if she could help it. "Not sure how you'd explain them to Bobby, though," she admitted, pretending to consider it, her forehead creasing. "Unless he's into that sort of thing?" After all, Kitty'd brought it back up. She had to get one more comment in, at least. Relenting, she shook her head and grinned. "Anyway, nothing like that. Just looking for a new hairstyle and some color." She grinned mischievously, and added, "If you'll do mine, I'll do yours." After all, new starts all around, right? It seemed only fair. |

Briefs and boots. And everyone thought she had bad taste in costumes. She had nothing on the Professor. Yana snorted at that, probably because it was true. "Did anyone actually argue that?" she asked, and Kitty shrugged after a few second's thought. Not that she knew of, but he kept designing uniforms, so he at least must've thought he did. Then her best friend grinned and added, "Of course, you didn't either. But at least you kept making an effort." Grinning back, Kitty wrinkled her nose. "Hey, I was thirteen. He didn't have that excuse. Besides, it was Ali's fault." That was her story, and she was sticking to it. Right. Moving on. No revisiting days of shiny gold tights and rollerskates past. Instead, they were apparently visiting sex lives more recently passed, instead. Or Yana was trying to, but there hadn't been all that much partying. Not really. Mostly, there'd been too much wine. Or something. Maybe she could blame part of that headache on having to deal with naked, crazy members of other teams? That seemed secondary, though, to the idea that Jamie just left that other universe with a dupe as what? Some sort of Jamie placeholder? Not that Yana seemed to think that was at all strange, since she frowned a little and just shrugged. "Well, yeah. I mean, a Jamie is a Jamie, pretty much," she pointed out but Kitty was more than a little skeptical of that. Hadn't Yana already said at some point that part of the merging problem with the Jamie she had and the one Terry had (and maybe the extra one from the other dimension, too) was that they were different and so he was different after? "I mean, either Terry or I dated one for years and never knew the difference, I don't suppose the other dimension people will either." That...didn't sound right and Kitty opened her mouth to maybe argue the point, then closed it again and shrugged it off. Having not ever managed to date a Jamie herself, what did she know? "I'm still thinking they might notice," she said instead and left it at that. Or maybe not and it was Jamie's choice regardless, she guessed. Kind of sucked for the people that knew him over there, though. Anyway, Yana wanted some sort of favor. Hopefully not one that involved her pawning extra Jamie dupes off on the unsuspecting. Like Kitty herself. She was good, thanks anyway. Her former roommate just laughed and cocked her eyebrows, apparently not believing that everyone didn't want a Jamie. ["You're sure? I could definitely spare a couple, and they usually give pretty good backrubs," she teased, prompting more face making from the brunette. Noooo. Not wanting to think about things being rubbed by Jamies. "Not sure how you'd explain them to Bobby, though," she admitted, pretending to consider it, her forehead creasing. "Unless he's into that sort of thing?" Caught between a laughing and snort, Kitty managed something in between as she shook her head. "God no. I'm pretty sure Bobby is the anti-into that sort of thing. So thanks, but no thanks." Which she guessed wasn't the actual favor, thank god, and Yana shook her head with a grin and finally got to it. "Anyway, nothing like that. Just looking for a new hairstyle and some color." She grinned mischievously, and added, "If you'll do mine, I'll do yours." Now it was Kitty's turn to have her eyebrows head up toward her hairline. "I think the question is what would you do to mine?" New hairstyle probably would be safe enough, it was the 'new color' part that was scaring her a little. "Define new color? And what kind of hairstyle?" she added thoughtfully, cocking her head. Didn't sound bad, but her last new hairstyle had been courtesy of an evil, mind controlling, mystic ninja. Nobody could blame her for being a little gunshy. |

Kitty still seemed skeptical about the whole duplicate Jamie thing, but Illyana couldn't think why. Jamie was Jamie, whether he was the original or a dupe or whatever. At this point, he and his dupe would have all the same memories, abilities, whatever - and given that the original had come back here, it wasn't like there was any chance of them merging back up again once people stopped popping back and forth. It should work okay. "I'm still thinking they might notice," Kitty said, but Illyana settled for shrugging. Even if they did, what could they do? Hunt him down and drag him back again, so they could have the original? For all she knew, he'd lied and left the original there while a dupe came over anyway. It didn't matter. He'd come back, for her, and wasn't planning on leaving. Life was good. And since life was good (despite some lingering upset from the previous night, but she was ignoring that away so it didn't matter), it was time for a new look. Or at least, to ask for help in achieving a new look, but she didn't mind a brief segue into the possibility of Kitty taking on a few Jamie dupes of her own. They'd be good for backrubs, though she was leaving it to her former roommate to explain to her boyfriend just why they were there. That sounded tricky, though who knew? Maybe he was into that sort of thing. Kitty definitely wasn't, to judge by the faces she was making, but let out something halfway between a laugh and a snort at that idea and shook her head. "God no. I'm pretty sure Bobby is the anti-into that sort of thing. So thanks, but no thanks." "Hey, anytime," Illyana replied, waving away any need for thanks (even if it wasn't heartfelt) and grinning as she got on to the actual favor. Which didn't have anything to do with Jamies, original or otherwise, but which did come with an offer to do Kitty's hair in return. Hopefully the brunette would take her up on it. She could definitely use a trim, at least. Kitty's eyebrows climbed up into the hair in question, which would have quelled some of Illyana's determination if she hadn't known the other girl as well as she did. "I think the question is what would you do to mine? Define new color? And what kind of hairstyle?" Yana rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Loving the confidence here," she pointed out as she pulled over the bag she'd brought with her and pulled out the colored hair chalk selection, then relented and grinned. "New color. Temporary - well, less temporary than it's advertised to be," she admitted. "It's supposed to wash out with the next shampoo, but that kind of sucked so I spelled it to last about a week. AND tested it," she added before Pryde could throw in any "playing with magic" warnings. "I used it a year or so ago, had pink streaks for about five days before it washed out. Found it yesterday when I popped over to Muir." She handed over the package for Kitty to look over, then reached into the bag and pulled out the sketch she'd made of her new hairstyle. Which wasn't great (she drew clothes better than she did people) but which should give the other girl a general idea, at least. "As for hair - what do you think of this?" she asked just a little tentatively. After all, it was a pretty big change. But she'd been wearing her hair the same way since she was thirteen. She figured a pretty big change was in order. "For me, not you," she added quickly (if a little belatedly) as she realized Kitty might take it the wrong way. "I'll do whatever you want with yours, I promise." Or try hard, anyway. But then, she didn't figure on Kitty wanting to do anything too radical. Other than the time she'd come back from Japan with the buzzcut, she pretty much never did. |

Yeah, Bobby? Definitely not into threesomes. Or eightsomes or whatever it was you'd get with a bunch of Jamies. In fact, she was pretty sure there'd be a lot of staring, possibly some choking, if she suggested it. Actually, maybe she would later, just to see the look on his face. Still, as much as she appreciated the offer, kind of, thanks but no thanks on the loaning of extra Jamies. Really. "Hey, anytime," Illyana replied] waving away the pseuo-thanks and grinning at her. Which didn't make her a lot more anxious to know what this favor might be the other girl wanted. But she asked all the same. For once, it turned out it was something pretty tame sounding. Haircut and new color, with an offer to return the favor. Yeah, that put all sorts of interesting images right into her head, didn't it? Before she agreed to that, experience with Illyana and her ideas had her asking exactly what kind of haircut they were talking about. And a definition of 'new color'. They already had plenty of oddly colored heads of hair running around, most of them inexplicably pink, and the brunette wasn't sure she wanted to join those ranks. She liked brown, thank you very much. And there was eyerolling, but that's okay. Having a healthy sense of self-preservation wasn't a bad thing at all and did she mention she knew Yana? "Loving the confidence here," she pointed out as she pulled over the bag she'd brought with her and pulled out the colored hair chalk selection, then relented and grinned. "New color. Temporary - well, less temporary than it's advertised to be," she admitted as Kitty frowned down at it curiously. Less temporary temporary chalk? For hair? Was that a real thing? "It's supposed to wash out with the next shampoo, but that kind of sucked so I spelled it to last about a week. AND tested it," she added before Pryde could throw in any "playing with magic" warnings. "I used it a year or so ago, had pink streaks for about five days before it washed out. Found it yesterday when I popped over to Muir." Well, okay. That did sound fairly harmless. Except for the one thing there. "Uggh. No pink. There's more than enough pink running around. I'm starting to think it's the new official Resistance haircolor." How the hell that'd happened, she didn't want to know. Taking the package, she looked it over, deciding it didn't look particularly demonic or anything. But then it was sometimes hard to tell. "You're sure this won't give me Medusa Snake Head or something?" That'd probably get her more facemaking and eyerolling, but hey. It paid to ask. Then Yana was pulling something else outta the bag so that she could see. "As for hair - what do you think of this?" she asked just a little tentatively as Kitty looked it over. It wasn't bad, but... "Erm," she began, trying to figure out how to say 'please don't do that to my hair' in a way that wouldn't offend Yana horribly. It'd look great on someone else, but it definitely wasn't her. At all. "For me, not you," she added quickly and oh thank god. Kitty let out a sigh of relief and shot her best friend a slightly crooked smile of apology. Yeah, she was no fun, she got it. "I'll do whatever you want with yours, I promise." Giving the sketch another look, the brunette nodded and smiled over at the blonde. "I think it'll look really good on you. Sure, let's do it if you want." Reaching up, she tugged at a lock of her own hair, looking at it for a few seconds. "Hmmm...I wouldn't mind a trim at least. It's been a while. And I'll even let you do highlights in any color other than pink, if you want," she added with a grin. It'd been a while since she'd done anything like this and she might end up looking silly, but who knew? She might like it and she could probably use a little more silly in her life. |

Honestly, from all the doubtful looks, you'd think she'd proposed shaving Kitty's head and tie-dying the rest of it in dayglo colored streaks. She'd tested this stuff. Granted, it'd been about a year ago, but it wasn't like hair chalk went bad or anything. The worst that could happen (or at least, she worst she could think of off-hand) would be that the spell had worn off and it'd wash out. Really not the end of the known universe. "Uggh. No pink. There's more than enough pink running around. I'm starting to think it's the new official Resistance haircolor." She had a point there, Illyana decided as she considered it for a moment or two. Hell, even Nate or Quentin or whatever his name was now seemed to be sporting it. Weird. "You're sure this won't give me Medusa Snake Head or something?" "Ewww, I hate snakes. You know I hate snakes," Illyana pointed out, shuddering a little at the picture that popped into her head. Because...yeah. Snakes were evil. Possibly more so than demons, even. At least demons didn't slither. She rolled her eyes, though, seeing as the situation demanded it, and shrugged. "But yeah, I'm sure. Simple preservation spell on the stuff. At worst, it'll have worn off and it's just regular ordinary hair chalk again." With that reassurance given, she dug around in her bag until she found the picture she'd sketched out a couple of days earlier in Wakanda. The uniform had ended up being more than she could realistically do with the stealth suits, but that was okay. The hair, though - It was different. Something other than straight with bangs, and her bangs had long since grown out so it would work. Maybe. She kind of wanted an opinion on it, first. "Erm," Kitty said doubtfully, in one of those "how do I put this?" kind of ways. Which, knowing Pryde, could mean one of two things. Either the hairstyle would look awful, or she was afraid she was the one it was going to be wearing her hair that way. Tempting though the latter was (it'd probably look good on her), Illyana knew better than to even suggest it. She could, however, put that fear to rest, at least, and she'd apparently hit the nail on the head, because her former roommate let out a sigh of relief, then directed an apologetic smile her way. Right, pegged that one, and she threw in further reassurance, just for good measure. No drastic hair styles, check. Not today, anyway. Kitty gave the sketch another look, apparently giving it a serious critique this time, then nodded and smiled. There, that'd been easier than she'd expected. "Definitely a trim," Illyana confirmed, nodding as she looked over at the other girl, tilting her head consideringly. "An inch or so, I'd say, just to get rid of all the split ends." She grinned then, and looked down at the color choices. Not yellow, she'd just look like it was sunstreaked. Maybe... "Blue," she said, nodding seriously. "It'll match your new uniform." She grinned mischievously. "Have you seen it yet? I did some redesign work with Jan - I think you'll like it." She wasn't so sure about Forge, but that was alright. She'd been unable to resist, and he could always get Chroma to change it if he didn't like the whole flashback to the 70s look. But she kind of hoped he would. She might not be happy about what she'd done the previous night - she wasn't entirely sure she ever would be, and was okay with that - but he'd been right. Maybe he'd take it as a thank you. |

Yeah, that would be a no on the pink. So much no on the pink. There was more then enough of that around already. Why, she didn't know, but Kitty didn't plan on contributing to what seemed to inexplicably be the official Resistance haircolor of choice. Then there was the matter of the Limbo enchanted hair chalk. Which seemed like a great idea on the surface, but made her kinda worry about waking up with a head full of pastel colored snakes. "Ewww, I hate snakes. You know I hate snakes," Illyana pointed out, shuddering a little at the picture that popped into her head. Well, yeah, she wasn't exactly thrilled about snakes either, which was why she didn't want to chance waking up with her head covered in crayola colored ones! "But yeah, I'm sure. Simple preservation spell on the stuff. At worst, it'll have worn off and it's just regular ordinary hair chalk again." Kitty gave the chalk another considering look, a nod, and then shrugged. That sounded safe enough, so yeah. She wouldn't mind some colored highlights or something. It'd be fun. Then Yana was rummaging around in her bag again, and pulled out a sketch she did. Apparently for a new hairstyle. Which...wasn't bad, just not something she'd want on her head. Like ever. Not and easy thing to just say, though, because her best friend had obviously put some work and thought into this. Soooooo, 'erm' it was while she tried to think of something better to say that wasn't amazingly rude, but wouldn't end up with her hair looking like that. Not that it was bad it just wasn't her at all. And apparently wasn't meant to be, which was a huge relief. Okay, Yana she could totally see that on. It'd look good on her, too. Plus an assurance of nothing drastic done to her hair and Kitty was good. She could definitely use a trim, at the very least. In fact, she couldn't remember the last time she'd had one. Highlights would be fine, too. As long as they weren't pink. "Definitely a trim," Illyana confirmed, nodding as she looked over at the other girl, tilting her head considerately. "An inch or so, I'd say, just to get rid of all the split ends." Yeah that sounded about right and Kitty nodded her agreement. Even a little bit more than that would be okay. Maybe not so okay was the way Yana was grinning down at the colored chalk. "Blue," she said, nodding seriously. "It'll match your new uniform." She grinned mischievously and Kitty's eyebrows shot up. She had a new uniform? "Have you seen it yet? I did some redesign work with Jan - I think you'll like it." Giving her best friend a surprised look, Kitty shook her head. "Uh-uh, when did you do the redesigns? And you seriously got Jan to help?" That was pretty cool. Jan Van Dyne was awesome when it came to design and clothes. She still remembered that time she and Yana had raided her closet. Best clothes ever. "So we don't have to wear basic black?" the brunette asked with a curious smile? "What does it look like?" Blue. Blue was definitely a good start. |

So, Pryde was definitely not on board with a drastic haircut. No problem, she'd expected that. Still, taking an inch or so off the other girl's hair wouldn't hurt anything, and she'd agreed to the hair color, which was a definite bonus. She could work with that. The choice of the color, apparently, was up to her, and Illyana gave it some serious consideration before settling on blue. It'd go with Kitty's new uniform, which to judge by the way her friend's eyebrows shot up, she hadn't seen yet. Hopefully she'd like it; Yana'd gotten Jan's help with a lot of the others, but she'd done most of the former X-Men's and New Mutants' herself. Something about that caught Kitty's attention, and she looked surprised as she shook her head. "Uh-uh, when did you do the redesigns? And you seriously got Jan to help?" Illyana laughed and nodded. "She was really cool about it," she replied, "which is good, because I really wasn't sure what to do with the former Avengers and stuff. I mean," she said, waving her hand vaguely, "I kind of remember what their uniforms looked like. But not enough to know what to leave in or take out or whatever. So I asked her, and she said she'd be happy to help." Which was great, really - she never thought she'd actually have a chance to work with Jan VanDyne. She just wished she could come up with a good reason to have to do it again. She paused for a moment, forehead wrinkling as she thought over the other question. "We got Chroma to recolor them yesterday, but I started...Monday?" That sounded right, and she nodded. "Monday, in Wakanda. Vance and I went out for lunch and got talking about it, and I started sketching." "So we don't have to wear basic black?" Kitty asked, her expression curious. "What does it look like?" Grinning, Illyana pulled back her sketch pad and flipped pages a few times. "No basic black for you," she promised, then made a face. "A few people wanted to keep it, if you can believe that. But..." she flipped again, then grinned and pushed the pad back towards her former roommate. "Blue and white. I threw in an X-Belt, but if you don't want it, you can just leave it off. I just -" she paused for a moment, considering what it was she was trying to say, then continued more soberly. "I know you weren't a New Mutant long," and hadn't wanted to be, even then, but she left that unsaid, because really, it didn't much matter anymore, "but we lost Sam, Dani, and Shan. I figured it'd be a memorial type thing?" She forced a hint of a crooked smile and shrugged. "Is that really dumb? I put them on mine and Doug's, then thought about it and stuck them on yours and Jimmy's and Gloria's too, since they were part of Sam and Dani's team, after." It'd made sense to her, when she'd thought of it. But then, a lot of things made sense to her but didn't seem to follow the same reasoning everyone else used. Maybe she should have skipped the whole thing. |

Blue. Yeah, okay. Blue could work. Blue highlights or something and a trim. That, she could definitely live with. Plus, it sounded like they had new uniforms to go with them. Uniforms Yana had consulted with Jan Van Dyne to help design. Huh, Yana definitely hadn't told her about that. Pretty cool. Yana let out a laugh and nodded. "She was really cool about it," she replied, "which is good, because I really wasn't sure what to do with the former Avengers and stuff. I mean," she said, waving her hand vaguely, "I kind of remember what their uniforms looked like. But not enough to know what to leave in or take out or whatever. So I asked her, and she said she'd be happy to help." Yeah, that sounded like Jan. She'd always been that way the few times she'd talked to her before and after all this stuff happened. And from everything she knew, the former Avenger had always been really great at design work. Hadn't she designed a lot of the Avengers uniforms herself, now that she thought about it? Yeah, yeah she was pretty sure that was right. Wonder what Yana had come up with for her? It sounded like they were going for something close to how the uniforms all used to look. Her best friend paused, forehead crinkling and looking like she was thinking something over. "We got Chroma to recolor them yesterday, but I started...Monday?" That sounded right, and she nodded. "Monday, in Wakanda. Vance and I went out for lunch and got talking about it, and I started sketching." "You guys should've dropped by for a visit," Kitty told her, since she and Bobby had ended up going, too. Though she also wasn't sure how the palace guards would've felt about people suddenly teleporting in unannounced, now that she thought about it. So maybe it was just as well. Anyway, back to uniforms and the dawning realization that they wouldn't be stuck with basic black all around anymore. Which made her curious all over again about what her own uniform looked like. The blonde threw her a grin and took back her sketchpad, flipping through the pages. "No basic black for you," she promised, then made a face. "A few people wanted to keep it, if you can believe that. But..." she flipped again, and Kitty shrugged as Yana grinned and pushed the pad back toward her. No accounting for taste. Then she looked down at the page the other girl had turned to. "Blue and white. I threw in an X-Belt, but if you don't want it, you can just leave it off. I just -" she paused for a moment, considering what it was she was trying to say, then continued more soberly. "I know you weren't a New Mutant long," which, yeah, made her look and feel a little sheepish. She'd been a complete brat about that and they all knew it, "but we lost Sam, Dani, and Shan. I figured it'd be a memorial type thing?" She forced a hint of a crooked smile and shrugged as Kitty sobered herself and nodded. Yeah. That was...yeah. A good idea. "Is that really dumb? I put them on mine and Doug's, then thought about it and stuck them on yours and Jimmy's and Gloria's too, since they were part of Sam and Dani's team, after." Smiling a little sadly, Kitty reached over to give her friend's arm a squeeze, shaking her head. "No, I don't think it's dumb at all. I like it." Pausing herself for a little thought, she looked down at the sketch again. "It can kinda stand for the rest of the X-Men, too, right? Like Logan?" Because it felt wrong not to include him in this, too. And Jean. Hank. And probably Scott, too. "I like the uniform," she added with more of a smile. "No yellow, either, which is even better. What do the others look like? Do you have more sketches?" Since the sketchpad was in reach, she started lifting pages, trying to take a peek. Man, it'd be really cool to see everybody - or most everybody - in all the colors again. She missed the colors. |

Monday. It had been Monday, in Wakanda, when she'd started sketching and then realized that it was possible to redo the stealth suits, at least in part. It seemed strange; so much had happened over the past few days that it felt almost as if it'd been yesterday. Of course, she'd have rather been doing that yesterday than freeing a whole bunch of supervillains from a containment facility. But she figured the less said about that, the better. "You guys should've dropped by for a visit," Kitty said, and she shrugged and grinned crookedly. "We might've, if we'd known you were there," she pointed out. "I did remember to bring you takeout, by the way. Her grin turned a little sheepish and she shrugged again. "Except when we got back and found out you were there, we kinda pried Doug away from his computers and shared it around for dinner." Which had seemed fair, really. Kitty got a vacation; they got the food. Life was good all around. Curiosity over the uniforms resulted in the subject changing, though, and she passed over her sketchbook. Granted, the sketches weren't anything like Piotr could do - she didn't have any artistic talent to speak of - but they'd give her friend the general idea, at least. And it'd give her a chance to explain the belts. Which, in retrospect, had maybe been a dumb idea, but it had seemed like a good one at the time. Maybe no one would know they were sort of a memorial, but...well, they would. Kitty's smile looked a little sad, but the brunette leaned over and squeezed her arm anyway. "No, I don't think it's dumb at all. I like it." She paused for a second, and Yana braced herself for the almost inevitable "but", but instead the other girl's eyes dropped down to the sketch once more. "It can kinda stand for the rest of the X-Men, too, right? Like Logan?" The X-Men. Illyana hadn't even really thought of them, and she should have. They hadn't just been Kitty's teammates; they'd been Piotr's and Ororo's, and some of them had been friends of hers, too. She nodded slowly, reaching up to give Kitty's hand a squeeze. "Of course they can," she said quietly, then paused. "You think I should get Chroma to do up some extras? In case anyone else wants them?" It wouldn't take long, and...well, the teenage boy had been so starstruck by Jan he'd probably do pretty much anything to help. She didn't feel particularly guilty about taking advantage of that, either; she just wished she'd thought of it sooner. "I like the uniform," [Pryde] added with more of a smile. "No yellow, either, which is even better. What do the others look like? Do you have more sketches?" Without waiting for a reply, the other girl started flipping through the book, but Yana put her hand over the pictures and grinned. "Lots," she admitted. "And you can look at them while I trim your hair. C'mon, time to get out of bed. I'm kinda hoping to cram in breakfast before things pick up later." |

Huh, so Yana and Vance had been in Wakanda Monday, too. Now that she mentioned it, Kitty did remember the other girl saying she was probably going, but she'd forgotten in all the last second plans to take off to there for a day or two herself. Too bad, they could've stopped buy for a visit or something. "We might've, if we'd known you were there," she pointed out which was fair enough, since that was another thing she'd forgot to do before they left. "I did remember to bring you takeout, by the way. Her grin turned a little sheepish and she shrugged again. "Except when we got back and found out you were there, we kinda pried Doug away from his computers and shared it around for dinner." Laughing softly, Kitty shrugged herself and grinned at the other girl. "Hey, at least it went to a good cause. God knows if Doug remembers to eat any more than he remembers to sleep." Plus, it would've definitely been kinda stale by now if Yana had saved it for her. With that settled, they went back to looking at the uniform stuff, which Yana had really done a good job on. Of course, with the help of Jan and the kid who'd recolored all the Sentinels that was apparently called Chroma. Pretty neat power, really, and the sketches were really good, too. Art must run in the family, though as far as she knew Mikhail wasn't much into drawing. She'd have to remember to ask about that. The belts with the Xs were good, too, she thought. Not just for the New Mutants, though, maybe but for the X-Men, too. Like Logan, and Jean, and Warren. All the ones that weren't here anymore. It seemed like it should be for them, too. Yana nodded slowly, giving her hand a squeeze and the brunette smiled a little. Yeah, it all still kinda sucked, even after all this time. "You think I should get Chroma to do up some extras? In case anyone else wants them?" There wasn't much she had to think about there, so she just nodded. "Yeah, yeah I think that'd be really good. If Peter and Ororo are staying for tomorrow," pausing, she frowned briefly, "or today, I guess," Kitty added with a shrug before finishing, "they'd probably want one, too. Rogue and Remy, maybe, some of the others." They were the last of the X-Men and she wasn't ashamed of that at all. Never would be. With that settled, she looked back down at the sketch pad again. She really did like the uniform. No yellow, that was a definitely plus. Man, she'd really hated that training uniform, way back when. Now she wanted to know what the others looked like and if her best friend had more sketches. Or, you know, since she had the sketchpad, she could just look for herself. Except not, since Yana was grinning and covering stuff up and being a complete tease. Which was evil. "Lots," she admitted[/b][/i] which was even more evil, since she wasn't letting her see them. "And you can look at them while I trim your hair. C'mon, time to get out of bed. I'm kinda hoping to cram in breakfast before things pick up later." Heaving a dramatic sigh, she shot her best friend a faux-put out look. "You're a slave driver, you know that? Wake up, get out of bed, go eat breakfast." Pushing the covers back she shook her head mournfully, trying not to grin and mostly managing for the moment. "The list never ends." Then the grin broke through and she sent it Yana's way for a second, before training her attention on the floor. "But okay, help me find my pants, and you're on." |

Yeah, not accepting the guilt trip about not stopping by in Wakanda to visit, thank you very much. It wasn't as if she'd known Kitty was there until they'd gotten back, after all, though from what she'd heard, it had been sort of an impulse trip on the part of the brunette and her boyfriend. Turnabout seemed fair play, though, so she felt the need to point out that she had brought back the take-out Kitty'd requested. They'd just eaten it already, was all. Kitty laughed at that, then shrugged. "Hey, at least it went to a good cause. God knows if Doug remembers to eat any more than he remembers to sleep." "Doubtful," she acknowledged, wrinkling her nose. She remembered how Doug had gotten during finals at Xavier's - she doubted he was any better now. That did summon up a memory, though, and she grinned over at her former roommate. "Remember that time he got so into studying we just kept pushing Harry's burgers in front of him, and he kept picking them up and eating without even realizing it? Maybe we should try that again." With some kind of sedative in them, maybe. She'd have to talk to Stacy and see if they had anything in the lab that could counteract massive amounts of caffeine. Anyway, back to the issue at hand, which was the new uniforms. Working with Jan had been awesome, and she couldn't see why the belts she'd added to the New Mutants uniforms couldn't also serve as a memorial to the X-Men. She just wished she'd thought of it herself, but she could probably get Chroma to do up some extras in case people wanted them. All she'd have to do is mention, "Jan asked me to ask you," and the guy would probably fall over himself to get it done. She was pretty sure Jan wouldn't mind, at all. Kitty nodded almost immediately, confirming that it was a good plan. "Yeah, yeah I think that'd be really good. If Peter and Ororo are staying for tomorrow," pausing, she frowned briefly, "or today, I guess," Kitty added with a shrug before finishing, "they'd probably want one, too. Rogue and Remy, maybe, some of the others." She nodded, making a mental note to ask for about a half dozen or so. It couldn't hurt to have a couple of extras; some of the Avengers might even want them. Beast had been an X-Man at some point, she thought; no reason it couldn't work for him, too. In the meantime, though, Kitty was starting to flip through her sketchbook, which was not going to result in the trimming and coloring of hair if she really got going with it. Putting her hand over the page (or, well, at least the center of it), she issued an ultimatum. The other girl could look - once she'd started cutting her hair. Which, of course, resulted in a dramatic sigh and a put upon look she wasn't buying for one minute. "You're a slave driver, you know that? Wake up, get out of bed, go eat breakfast." Pushing the covers back she shook her head mournfully, trying not to grin and mostly managing for the moment. "The list never ends." "Hey, I've got Doug for a role model; of course the list never ends," she agreed, grinning smugly. "On the other hand, if I didn't have an agenda, you'd probably be throwing up whatever it was you were drinking last night instead of putting breakfast on your list. Seems fair to me." Apparently, it did to the other girl too, because she grinned (well, okay, that might've been in response to something else entirely) before looking down at the floor. "But okay, help me find my pants, and you're on." "Deal," Illyana agreed without hesitation, climbing off the bed and looking around at the floor. Which was definitely sporting a collection of clothes, but she wasn't immediately seeing any pants. "Just what were you guys doing last night?" she asked as she crouched down to peer under the bed. "It looks like someone did a striptease or something." Or, more likely, just dropped clothes as they went, but still. The former sounded more fun. Were those...yes! Flattening down, she pulled a pair of jeans out from under the bed and crawled back out, then took a closer look and raised her eyebrows. "I think I found Bobby's. Want to tell me how they ended up under the middle of the bed??" Actually, she had a suspicion there that she was pretty sure was right. But hey, it'd be good for Kit if she just came out with it. |

The X on the belts? Yeah, it really did seem like a good idea to her. Even though it sometimes felt like it, all the X-Men weren't gone. Not yet. There was still her, Bobby, and Rogue and Remy. Peter and Ororo if they were staying for tomorrow. Or, errr, today now, right? Yeah. Today. Maybe even some of the extra-dimensional might want one. Wouldn't hurt to have a few extra regardless. Yana nodded and she guess that was settled. So apparently it was on to needing to get dressed and get to doing hair. Man. It was really, really early. And Yana was a slave driver. Wanting her to do things like move, get outta bed, get dressed. Eat. Sigh. All the same, Kitty pushed the covers back as she shook her head and tried not to grin. The list was endless. Really. Endless and tormenting. "Hey, I've got Doug for a role model; of course the list never ends," she agreed, grinning smugly and Kitty let out an amused snort of laughter. Man, they really had to do something about Doug and his lists. This was his fault now. "On the other hand, if I didn't have an agenda, you'd probably be throwing up whatever it was you were drinking last night instead of putting breakfast on your list. Seems fair to me." Uggh. Yeah, okay. "Good point," she relented, eyes scanning the floor. If Yana wanted moving and breakfast, she was gonna have to help her find her pants now. Was she even wearing pants last night? Or had it been a uniform? Or both? Her head might not still hurt, but her memory was apparently down for the count. "Deal," Illyana agreed without hesitation, climbing off the bed and looking around at the floor. Which was definitely sporting a collection of clothes, but she wasn't immediately seeing any pants. "Just what were you guys doing last night?" she asked as she crouched down to peer under the bed. "It looks like someone did a striptease or something." Nose wrinkling and standing up to see if that helped with finding pants at all, Kitty felt her cheeks heat a little. "There was wine. I remember that there was wine. In those little plastic cups from the bathroom shelf. And we had a conversation with Chimera. Who was naked. But that was before the wine," the brunette added, before Yana could latch onto that and go somewhere disturbing with it. Yana extracted herself from under the bed, holding a pair of jeans that Kitty was pretty sure weren't hers. "I think I found Bobby's. Want to tell me how they ended up under the middle of the bed??" Oh man. "Erm..." Kitty replied, knowing her cheeks were doing that blushing thing again. "Did I mention there was wine? Two bottles of wine, I think. So...no? I'm not totally sure how the pants got under the bed." Yeah, she could probably make an accurate enough guess, but she wasn't gonna. "Maybe I should just get some out of the closet," she decided, and got to doing that before the blonde could hopefully drag out any other clothing from odd places to ask her about. |

Clothes here, clothes there. If she didn't know better, she'd have thought they'd somehow fell through some kind of portal and back into their room at Xavier's, where Kitty'd routinely changed out of her training uniform by phasing out of it as she walked and letting it fall and she'd...well, she'd just sort of dropped things, with the full intention of picking them up later. Of course, there might also have been some kind of strip tease going on, which was considering more fun to tease her best friend about than the clothing piles of ages past. If she was going to go on a quest for pants that weren't even hers, she definitely needed some entertainment. And got it, because Kitty's face definitely flushed as she wrinkled her nose and stood up to look around. "There was wine. I remember that there was wine. In those little plastic cups from the bathroom shelf. And we had a conversation with Chimera. Who was naked." Illyana's head flipped towards Kitty, eyes widened incredulously. They'd had a conversation with naked Chimera while drinking wine and removing clothing? Not what she'd have expected of her former roomie, but... "But that was before the wine," Kitty clarified, and Illyana rolled her eyes and grinned over at her. "The important question is, was it before or after the clothing removal?" she asked before crawling under the bed after what looked suspiciously like abandoned clothing. And was. Not Kitty's jeans, she didn't think - probably Bobby's. Which raised the question, given their location, of just how they'd gotten there? She had a few ideas, herself. But asking the already blushing Kitty would be way more fun. "Erm..." Kitty replied, knowing her cheeks were doing that blushing thing again. "Did I mention there was wine? Two bottles of wine, I think. So...no? I'm not totally sure how the pants got under the bed." Illyana laughed. "Relax, roomie, I'm just teasing. It's not like you're not over the age of consent or anything." She peered up at the other, eyes narrowing playfully. "You are, right? Because it'd be way too weird if you were that much younger than me." Granted, she wasn't sure exactly how old she was, and she'd always maintained she was older than Kitty since she'd come back from Limbo the first time, despite all evidence to the contrary, but still. It'd be weird. "Maybe I should just get some out of the closet," she decided, and got to doing that before the blonde could hopefully drag out any other clothing from odd places to ask her about. "Your choice," Illyana shrugged, reaching under the bed once more (she was there anyway, she might as well), to pull out what looked like Kitty's stealth suit and some socks. Her eyebrows rose, but she just grinned and said nothing as she tossed the clothing into what was quickly becoming a pile. "Did you want to do the hair cuts here or in Limbo?" she asked. "We can do them there if you want to save the time." She paused, then considered it and added, "Or we could pop into the bathroom last night. I was pretty much in one place, so unless you were wandering around with naked Chimera and the two bottles of wine," she paused to waggle her eyebrows suggestively, "it should be safe enough to double up." That way, they'd definitely have time for breakfast. And, y'know, to sort out any hair disasters before they ran into anyone. Not that she expected any, but... Well, things happened, sometimes. Better to plan ahead if you could. |

Well, there was wine. She remembered that. In little plastic cups because that's all they could find. And the conversation with Naked Chimera. Couldn't forget that, even if she wanted to. Yeah, that look Yana had on her face? That pretty much said it all. But that was before the wine, so it probably didn't count, but it did have Yana rolling her eyes and grinning. "The important question is, was it before or after the clothing removal?" "Before. Definitely before," Kitty told her best friend with a shudder as the other girl crawled under the bed in the continued search for the mysteriously missing pants. She did find a pair, but those were a little too big to be hers. As for how they'd got under there? Erm, well, there was wine? Had she mentioned that? A couple of bottles actually, so yeah. Not so much with being sure how that happened and now she was blushing and Yana was laughing at her. "Relax, roomie, I'm just teasing. It's not like you're not over the age of consent or anything." She peered up at the other, eyes narrowing playfully. "You are, right? Because it'd be way too weird if you were that much younger than me." Rolling her eyes, Kitty tried to scowl at her former roomie, then stuck out her tongue. "Ha. Ha." she told her, wearing her I am not at all impressed face, with a grin sorta twitching at the corners. "Jeez, yes, I'm definitely over the age of consent." Man, maybe it'd be easier to just get some pants out of the closet, before Yana came up with some other embarrassing questions to ask her. Yep, pants from the closet it was and she went about doing just that as a means of self-defense. "Your choice," Illyana shrugged, then reached under the bed anyway and pulled out her stealth suit and a pair of socks she'd forgotten she had. There went the other girl's brows, upward again, but she just grinned and tossed them over with the jeans and didn't ask any more questions. Thankfully. Right. Getting jeans. She should have some, since Bobby did laundry while she was releasing evil into the wilds of Wyoming. "Did you want to do the hair cuts here or in Limbo?" Yana asked as Kitty located her jeans and pulled a pair off the hanger at random. "We can do them there if you want to save the time." She paused, then considered it and added, "Or we could pop into the bathroom last night. I was pretty much in one place, so unless you were wandering around with naked Chimera and the two bottles of wine," she paused to waggle her eyebrows suggestively, "it should be safe enough to double up." Sticking her legs in the jeans, pulling them up and fastening the waistband, she turned toward Yana long enough to wrinkle her nose at her. "No, we definitely were not wandering around with Naked Chimera and anything any longer than we had to." And that had definitely still been too long. "I'm good with either one, though," the brunette added with a shrug as she zipped up the jeans and decided she was okay enough for now in the shirt she already had on. "If we do it last night in the bathroom," she added with a grin as she headed back toward the bed to find whatever shoes were around, "then we don't have to worry about evil Limbo hair. I really don't wanna have to deal with evil Limbo hair." Yep, she still remembered all that from Inferno. Everyone had ended up wandering around and looking kinda like they had on Logan wigs. Scary and no way could she make that work. |
