Till the night closes in…

Except that the night, and the kissing, and all those incredibly delicious favors Ali was promising, was definitely categorized as raincheck territory at the moment. Especially when you factored in the part where to receive the favors, he’d need to actually earn them first. Which brought them back to getting a move on dealing with Puck’s situation, even if that would involve, as Ali pointed out, neatly raising an important flaw here, both moving and letting her go.

Kinda the serious drawback there, it was true. He could admit that.

“Mmm-hmmm, definitely the downside," she agreed, but she was back nodding off just a little there again, wasn’t she? Alright, letting go wasn’t his favourite thing, but moving probably was in order here, so he’d stand, like that, and he’d…

…well, he’d have to own up to the fact that he couldn’t quite resist teasing her just a little here, and offering to carry her around as he went to check on those things. He was known around here for his ability to compromise, or so he liked to think. And this one definitely had some appeal.

Or really, what had appeal was the way she roused a little, looking up at him through those gorgeous eyelashes, and turned on that smile she had. Yeah, that one. That one that telegraphed the utterly sweet, gentle kiss she stretched upward to place on his lips.

He could actually be happy doing nothing but that forever. No doubt about it.

“Tempting,” she replied, fingers of one hand reaching up to comb lightly through his hair. "Really, amazingly tempting. You have no clue how much, Handsome.”

Simon smiled, and leaned down to kiss her again. Because he was pretty sure he did have at least a clue or two about that temptation, really. Except…

“I mean, right now? I'd totally sleep through it,”, she added, and yeah, there was that, too, “but I'm guessing logistics might get a little awkward for you after a while.”

“Not to mention the questions I’d be getting about what I thought I was doing…” Simon agreed, with only a little pang of amused regret. Like why he’d decided to go marsupial or pack animal on them all, or… yeah, actually, he knew just enough of Eugene Judd to guess that he couldn’t even start to imagine what the Canadian might come up with if faced with that.

“Alright,” he said instead, coming to the decision that had kinda always been inevitable, however they might have liked things. “So then let’s see what we can do to make this place a little better for you for recharging.”

The stereo she’d put on last night, that was probably a safe bet for sound, wasn’t it? So that way Simon went, swaying ever so slightly from side to side as he went to a vague feeling of a waltz. He made sure, once there, that he had Ali safely secure in one arm, and used the other to hit the button to put it back on, pausing for a moment over whether to adjust the volume at all, then gathered her back closer, and turned in the direction of bed. “Anything else you need, Gorgeous?” he queried.

This? Was not a downside at all.

Arms linked around Simon's neck while he had his wrapped under her securely, holding her up, steady and close. It felt like something beyond amazing, and beyond comfortable, and was the exact and total opposite of a downside.

Definitely tempting, and then some, just to stay exactly like this and Ali had never had a lotta luck resisting temptation, or even wanting to. Did Simon even know how very, amazingly tempting that idea was right now?

Maybe he did. The smile and the kiss that came after that told her without any words that he probably got at least some of that.

Hey, at the moment, sleeping through the carrying around would seriously be zero problem. At least for her. Simon, he probably wouldn't have any problem dealing with the actual carrying, either. Logistics, though? Those would probably get kinda tricky for him after a while.

“Not to mention the questions I’d be getting about what I thought I was doing…” Simon agreed and, okay, that definitely called for grinning. Tired or not.

"Are you kidding?" she asked rhetorically. It was adorable that he thought anybody'd think that was his idea. "You know most people would just sorta automatically assume I managed to somehow talk you into thinking that was a good idea, or brainwashed you, or something, right?"

Especially anybody who'd ever, you know, met her, or talked to Johnny Storm at all (loved him, but none've his secrets were actually secret at all ever). Her powers of getting people to do crazy things, they were kinda infamous.

Though Puck would probably take it and run with it in the most insanely bewildering way he could think of, regardless. She really liked that about him, actually.

“Alright,” Simon moved on, since unconscious Ali carrying around was off the table by necessity. Though there was a little bit of a pang that came with knowing the time was getting closer where she really would need to let him go. “So then let’s see what we can do to make this place a little better for you for recharging.”

And there they went, with a little swaying/dancing sorta move that had Ali laughing softly and squeezing him tight, or as much as she could manage. And humming a little bit of Norah Jones' 'Come Away With Me' as accompaniment. Absolutely had to talk him into going out dancing with her. Soon.

Then they were at the stereo and there was music in the air that wasn't hers. And that was definitely all kinds of better as she kind of let the sound 'soak in', seep through her skin and vibrate there pleasantly underneath, for lack of a better way to describe how that worked.

Head against his shoulder still, Ali pressed another kiss to the side of his neck as they turned toward the bed. Amazingly sweet, amazingly thoughtful guy. Wasn't sure she could ever tell him just how much she completely appreciated that.

“Anything else you need, Gorgeous?” he queried and her smile softened (and was probably more than a little about-to-conk-out-looking at this point, but what could you do?), fingers running lightly over his cheek.

"A whole list, but way too tired. Which might be a total first," Ali teased gently and with a wink, then sighed softly. Cause, yeah, it was really close to that time, wasn't it? "I'm good, Handsome. Thanks. Seriously."

Leaning up for another, soft kiss, that was definitely in order. And she absolutely had the energy for that.

"Kinda wondering if I should get rid of this stealth suit," she added semi-thoughtful, "But not sure I actually care enough to bother." Just that tired, she could deal with it later. "Definitely wouldn't turn down a goodbye kiss, though, before you head out."

Or a kiss, period. Anytime ever.

Logistics, yeah, they’d be awkward. Also, Simon tended to think, the questions he’d inevitably end up getting if he did go ahead and wander round the Helicarrier with sleeping Ali still in tow.

“Are you kidding?" she asked rhetorically."You know most people would just sorta automatically assume I managed to somehow talk you into thinking that was a good idea, or brainwashed you, or something, right?”

Simon raised an eyebrow, but grinned while he shook his head. Somehow, he just wasn’t seeing brainwashing by popstar being the conclusion most of the Resistance jumped to, if they came across him carrying an unconscious woman around like a purse. Though if that had been the kind of explanation that flew back when she’d been with the X-men… well, no wonder it had sometimes been as difficult as it had been to understand what Remy (and even occasionally) Rogue had been driving at.

Of course, that did kinda go both ways, maybe. Who knew what kind of conclusion Clint might have got into his head if he’d seen it? And as for Eugene Judd, more importantly, since the Canadian was right at the crux of this whole leaving conundrum…

…yeah, sadly, didn’t really bear thinking about.

So, alright then, moving on. And actually moving too, while he narrated a little of his own thought process, re: making the place more recharging-friendly for Ali before he did leave. A little music - or rather, a little music other than that she’d just been humming softly as he headed that way - over that stereo of hers, a little movement that was almost like a shiver from her, maybe as that started to kick in. A soft kiss, against his neck, which definitely made him stop and think again about reconsidering exact timeframes here, but he still managed to make himself make that turn, to face the bed.

But before he went there, was there anything else that her very own gorgeous self needed?

If running her hand down his face like that was the answer, he liked this answer.

“A whole list, but way too tired. Which might be a total first," Ali teased gently and with a wink, then sighed softly. Rainchecking those, then. Definitely. “I’m good, Handsome. Thanks. Seriously.”

“Anytime,” Simon told her, because it was just the complete truth, then bent his head as she leaned in, meeting her for that kiss she was requesting.

“Kinda wondering if I should get rid of this stealth suit,” she added, afterward, which couldn’t quite help but make a few of those rainchecks he’d just put on stop and bounce a little, before he reminded them to sit back again. “But not sure I actually care enough to bother.”

Simon decided he couldn’t quite trust himself to try to answer that one way or the other - it’d be too hard not to offer to help her with that, and then…

…well, yeah. Nothing bad would come from sleeping in one of the Wakanda suits - lord knew they’d all slept in them a time or two at times in the last few years when they hadn’t been totally sure about the level of cloaking you could establish in a hideout. So he just nodded, and reached up to brush that same lock of hair back from her face again, then took the few steps that were needed to take them over to the bed, where he carefully laid her down.

”Definitely wouldn't turn down a goodbye kiss, though, before you head out.”

“That, I can definitely do.” And smiling softly, Simon leaned over and kissed her, slowly and gently, but properly, the way you should do it. He pulled back, smiling at her, then couldn’t quite resist shaking his head quickly. “Hmm, no, one more try.” Almost the same this time, but just a few little variations on the theme, because she couldn’t look like that and not expect to be kissed in as many ways as wonder-ly possible.

“Rest well,” he told her, as he finally straightened up properly, “and we’ll find each other later, okay?” Alright, one more little kiss, but just a small one this time, and a light caress of her cheek. “And no more napping in hallways, you hear me?”

Anytime, huh?

Man, if she'd been less totally on the edge of exhaustion sleep coma, she'd have given that offer a major field test. Whole new lists of ideas, she had them and they weren't even a little hard to come up with. There they were, just popping right into her head, every time she looked Simon's way.

For now, though, a kiss would have to do as a placeholder (and it was absolutely an excellent one), as Ali lamented the amount of energy she so didn't have right now. Not really even enough to be bothered about sleeping in the stealth suit she was still wearing. Slept in worse in lots stranger places (looking at you, Camp Hell in the Pines), though the idea of asking for help with that from the fantastic, very amazingly hard to resist guy still holding her in his arms didn't so much cross her mind as stroll in, plop itself down in the middle of things, and try to move in.

Too bad that way lay way too much temptation to be any kind of compatible with her current energy levels. So she'd just go with that agreeing nod of Simon's and not worry about her wardrobe or what part of it she was wearing and let herself go ahead and drift off like pretty much all of her wanted to.

Especially when the soothing brush of Simon's fingers against her skin as he pushed back that sprig of hair that kept persistently tickling her face made her want to do just that. Close her eyes and sink down into her dreams while he was still close by as he laid her carefully on the bed.

Wouldn't turn down a goodbye kiss first, though. Or any kiss from Simon ever, any time. Kissing him was firmly set in place in her list of very favorite things.

“That, I can definitely do.” It was slow and soft and completely electric, her arms winding loosely around his neck again as Ali raised up a little to meet him. Every single thing a kiss should be. The shake of his head when he pulled back, not so much what she'd expected. Ali's eyebrows lifted. Hey, come on, she was tired, sure, but no way was she tired enough that her general kissing skills were that off. “Hmm, no, one more try.”

Well, in that case, she was more than willing to agree to a do-over.

"As many more as you want," she told him completely and totally willing to follow through with that as she brought her hands around, palms cupping his face, and sank into the next kiss. Easy to do that and it was something she was looking really, really forward to. The chance to kiss Simon Williams as much and as often and in as many different ways as they could come up with.

But all good (or so much better than good she was completely running out of appropriate adjectives here) things come to an end. Which included that second, fantastic kiss that still made her glow a little despite the fact that Ali would've bet almost anything that wasn't a thing that could happen right now.

“Rest well,” he told her, as he finally straightened up properly, and she let her arms and hands slip away from him with a contented sigh that was very deserved. Even if letting him go still was something she wanted to protest, “and we’ll find each other later, okay?”

"Not even a question," Ali murmured right before there was another, brief kiss and the warm brush of his fingers on her cheek. Sweetest man she'd ever met. Bar none.

“And no more napping in hallways, you hear me?” Settling down into the bed, and the pillow, Ali couldn't help cracking her eyes open a little again and shooting him a sleepy grin as she slid the tips of her fingers along the back of his hand.

"Aye, Aye, Fearless Wonder Leader," she agreed, throwing in a kinda half-assed salute in with it and a little extra twinkle that probably wasn't even close to up to par, either. But hey. It was the thought that counted, right? "I'll maybe give alcoves or something a try next."

Variety, it was a good thing.

"Take it easy, okay?" the pink haired woman requested softly and with a matching smile, eyes slipping closed again as she trailed her fingers over is one more time. Man, she could practically feel the sleep trying to suck her under. Probably time to let it have its way.
