Has anyone ever actually used Apocalypse (U5 Gateway)? If so, how? I realize that Blade Storm allows you to have unlimited spirit energy, but how do you reach 70?

There's actually a way to get a loop into it. A member named One Winged Angel told me years ago, but sadly I forget what the combo was :/

I've never actually done it but my strategy would be to use Yuu Kaitou Taboo Master and his territory to prevent either player from attacking. Then, assuming you have blade storm and the Urameshi bonus you could stall until you have accumulated enough spirit energy to pay for apocalypse.

If I make a team Urameshi deck I'd like to use Apocalypse as the main focus of the win condition. I've actually thought about building this deck but it doesn't seem I'll get to that very soon. Other decks have priority right now.

But I think the characters you would use would be the ones from the 3rd League Set. Kurama Gloomy Fighter being the main one.

I made an apocalypse deck similar to the one i played back when betrayal had just came out. If anyone wants to use it as a reference when making their own http://www.tradecardsonline.com/im/showDeck/deck_id/508278

That's honestly a pretty good reference. Overall it looks pretty good.

I think mine would differ in that I would make mine fully defensive and add stalling cards (instead of a balanced atk/def). Now that I think about it Team Urameshi Apocalypse deck is the alt. version of the Sensui Gateway deck.

Team Urameshi's Support does the exact same thing as Awaken.

Essentially, it was a generic FTK build, but you had to be Team Urameshi to utilize Blade Storm. You started Yusuke, Ma-Zoku as your fighter, since he was a Hero and Villain, used Kurama, Loving Friend and tried to push to give your self Kurama Team Bonus on Turn 1, and then use a loop of draw cards (Burst of Power, Team Kurama's Support, Villainous Energy, Kurama's Last Stand, Suzaku+Champion Driver+Remember Us?, etc)

You ended up giving your opponent the Ichigaki Team Bonus, by means that I can't recall. If I perused the card galleries, I could find it.

Using the typical engine, you could draw through your deck, shuffle, redraw, shuffle, ad nauseum until you hit 82 to pop Apocalypse, then follow up with a Concealed Blade to take an extra turn via Yusuke's Sacrifice, which you could play even without targeting card in your opponent''s graveyard due to what was referred to as the "Do What You Can" rule, a seldom relevant ruling which stated that you performed any card effects you were able, if you couldn't do the entire effect.

Hope this helps. Sorry for necro but I read this thread and was hit with MAJOR nostalgia, and thought it needed to be shared, plus I got namedropped so... Haha.

Fair enough. A minor addition:

You don't need Concealed Blade, as Replay exists. I forgot about that card. I imagine I just played Concealed Blade in my version because it's what I had xD

Going through cards, it seems you would have used Unity and Wicked Influence (as a one-of each) to give the enemy the Ichigaki symbol, via a fifth match character or Blue Seal.

Obviously, the combo isn't good, but you can still pull off a FTK (technically 2TK with Replay) with Apocalypse this way.

How do you shuffle and redraw your deck multiple times?

Soul Exchange doesn't allow you to shuffle back more than once, and from what I understand, Soul Exchange doesn't shuffle itself into the deck because events only go to the discard pile after they resolve.

Yusuke's Sacrifice is a net gain of 8 :se: on each iteration, and allows you to shuffle up to 10 cards, including a copy of itself.

The deck isn't designed to be competitive by any means, more to show the absurdity.
