I just need clarification if this is allowed. Let's say you attach an item that has an effect somewhat like this, "Main: Discard this item to do X. If you attach this item and discard it using the effect of another card does the effect of the discarded item still happen?

Ex. I attach Idunn Box. I use Confrontation. I discard my Idunn Box and one of my opponent's attached cards in play.

No

The only way to get Idunn Box's effect is to use it.

However if a card where to have the text "If this card is discarded from play, do X," you would get that effect.

So if you used confrontation and you discarded your attached Yukina's Tears you would draw 2 cards.

Yukina's Tears doesn't have a way to discard itself from play however.

Gotcha. That pretty much messes up a combo I had in mind but it's good to know that it doesn't work like that.
