When the lioness wasn't hunting with her group she was often bathing in the sun not far from her cub, for it was a duty that she couldn't forget easily. She had at least one eye and an ear out for her. Though knowing that Neema was starting to turn to an age were she could be trusted by being within the range of their homeland. It was still nice to spend time with her daughter and just the two of them. The lioness had chosen a spot on the rocky surface and sat upon it, feeling the heat come off the rocks and into her paws.

Every once in awhile a good breeze came through cutting the calm winds, allowing her to cool off every once in awhile. It seemed like a perfect day for anyone. The scenery was absolutely beautiful here, it was as if she could see the entire range of the mountain that they called home. Plus there were not many enemies that came through these lands. Though as she squinted her eyes she could see the faint lands of the famous rock of where their heritage came from. The famous Pride rock of the Pridelanders could be seen.

"I wonder what it's like over there, if they can see us from here, like we can see them from here?" Airya asked herself, not meaning anyone to answer. Though she was curious about it, what did this plateau look like from a Pridelander's eyes?

  • It was one of those rare occasions where her cousin was not trailing after her, for Koa was off with his father learning his princely responsibilities. Well... that's what Neema called them anyway, for while Koa wasn't really a prince, as her uncle was not really a king, he was still heir to a leadership role. And... it was just easier to call him a prince. But needless to say, she was alone now, and so had decided to seek out her mother. For if she wasn't busy organizing a hunt, perhaps she might like to play.

Unlike Koa and his father, Neema wasn't so sure she could take after her mother when she grew older. Strange as it sounded... she really hated to kill anything, or see it killed. Sure, she enjoyed a full belly... but she didn't want to THINK about the sacrifice the animal had to make in order for them to eat. How could she be a Huntress like her mother when she would surely let every beast off the hook?

Shaking her head, and thus shaking the thought off, she clamored up onto the rocks, catching sight of her mother there. And she heard her too, though she wasn't quite sure who she was speaking to. "Where, mom?" Her honey-colored gaze tried to follow her mother's, attempting to seek out what she was staring at. Oh, it was that land beyond theirs... the Pridelands. "They never come to visit, do they?" They were lions, after all.. so it seemed they ought to all play together too.

The voice of her young cub came into her ears, full of curiousity like she had been in her adosolent age. But that was nothing strange, it's how a cub was, and she didn't object to that. Though she let out a sigh as she watched Neema turning away from the far away lands that rested in front of them, "No not recently, we are with peace with them as far as I can tell. I hope it stays that way incase one of their members does decide to come here."

She had noticed that the young cub was not with her close friend, the heir of the group. He was out buisy it seemed with his family with their own importance. But she didn't mind at all, the two could have some alone time. However she had been wary of Neema's loathing in her ways of becoming a huntress. She may not become an heir to the leading hunter position at the way she saw things and perferred them. But if fate leads another path for her, Airya didn't mind at all, she was still her daughter. And that's all that mattered to her.

  • Well... she hoped they DID come visit sometime. And she hoped they brought cubs, too. It would be nice to have other cubs for her and Koa to socialize with... or for her to play with when her cousin was busy. "Have you ever been to the Pridelands, mom?" Neema inquired after some thought, flopping down on the rock beside her mother. She stretched out on the warm surface, ears perked as she awaited an answer. She knew that her mother and uncle had very distant ancestors from that kingdom... but she did not know if her mother had visited the place in person.

She paused thinking about it, she recalled visiting Priderock, but it was a faint memory. One when the celebration of the new heir to the throne had been brought for all animals to see, it was one of their traditions it seemed. I've only been there once, when I was around your age, but it was a short visit. Though she smiled softly, watching the cub as she sat down beside her. Taking one paw she was sure that she'd object to this, since most cubs did not enjoy baths.
Since when was the last time you took a bath by the way? I could do it now and get it over with. Though it was a partial teasing as she licked the young cub's fur gently feeling how soft it was on her nose. Though she hadn't completely avoided the subject of Priderock, she was still curious to see what was there as well.

  • So her mother had been there. Curious, Neema listened to what she was told, however vague the details. It had been a long time since the visit, then... But she wanted to know why her mother had gone to the Pridelands. What she saw there. Why she hadn't been back since then. And yet, it seemed her mother was avoiding the topic, deciding to change the subject. And to one no cub was really fond of, at that.

Pouting, Neema rolled over onto her back, batting a paw playfully at her mother's muzzle. "Awww mom. What's the point if I'm just going to get dirty again?" It seemed so pointless, and a complete lack of time. Plus, a waste of energy for Airya... "Koa and I were going to go play in the lake later. I'll get clean that way!" Kind of. If she didn't roll in the mud on the banks first.

"And what if you fall into the mud first? It's an easy job if you hold still little one." She asked knowing how mischevious she could get at times. Though she smiled softly as the young cub pawed her nose. She returned the playful pawing with her own, though her paws were larger so she made sure she wasn't too hard on her young cub. "Besides how do you think I got my coat so shiny?" She asked. However there was one flaw in her coat where three scars were marked on the very back. It had been an accident long agon when she was an adosolent. But the thing was, she barely remembered the whole thing.

  • Neema rolled her eyes playfully, as if the answer to her mother's question was quite obvious and it was silly for her to even ask. "I'll just get back in the water and it'll clean off!" But regardless of her plans, it seemed she was fated to have a bath, so she made herself be still, though she twitched her nose and giggled when her mother pawed her nose right back.

"Besides how do you think I got my coat so shiny?"

At this question, she paused to consider an answer in hopes of coming up with a really good one, but had nothing other than the obvious truth: her mother took good care of her grooming, and kept up with the task. But even still... "Cub coats don't even get that shiny!" she protested. "You have to be a grown up for it to look that way." Her fur was so different compared to her mother's, she felt.

"Your coat's not that different, after all you could look like your father." It was a possibility that was true. Though they had only been together for some time it was a short living few moments before the family split apart, and Neema was born. Airya's coat was a darker one with a soft tan underbelly with green eyes. She gave Neema's fur another good lick seeing the cub was trying to find another excuse to get out of it.
Neema's friend was around so she didn't have that to work with. Though Airya figured that she'd go easy on her this time, a few quick licks wasn't going to hurt her at all. Maybe she could compromise with the young cub and see if that worked. "How about this, I'll give you a quick bath and we go for a walk through the mountain range to find a river later on?"

  • Her father... Neema wished she had known her father. It had always been her and her mother, and their family clan. But the only father figure she had ever known was her uncle, Koa's father. The idea that she might look like this lion she had never known, though... it was a strange one. For she would never really see for herself. But as Neema never liked to dwell on such heavy things for long, being such a lighthearted young cub, she let this thought go and decided she would merely be glad she looked like anyone at all.

"I'll give you a quick bath and we go for a walk through the mountain range to find a river later on?"

Hearing this, Neema nearly leapt up with delight, but forced herself not to so that they could get the bath out of the way. Going exploring with her mother! They rarely had time for such games together, with Airya being so busy with her work, and Koa never too far away. She would absolutely love such an opportunity, and grinned up at her mother with a nod. "Okay, make it as quick as possible so we can go!"

Airya was surprised at the young cubs excitement, but none the less they hadn't spent a whole lot of time together. Now was their chance it seemd as she grinned softly at her young cub. "Just hold still for a bit." Airya added as she licked Neema's fur. "One...Two...Three...and Four." Each one counted off an individual lick in her fur before she stood up letting her cub go. Seing that she couldn't hold onto her cub for that long before an energy burst would form. "Alright, let's go young one, there's a river with our names on it somewhere."

  • Trying to do as her mother asked so they could get going, Neema focused her full attention on sitting still, ears flattening as her mother swiped her tongue across her fur over and over. While she waited, though, idea after idea of what they could do together flit through her head, making her all the more excited to get up and go. And it seemed her mother understood this, for the bath was a fairly short one, and soon enough her mother's voice was reaching her ears, which perked again immediately.

"Alright, let's go young one, there's a river with our names on it somewhere."

"Yay!" Bounding to her feet, Neema turned to grin up at her mother, then dashed a few feet away before pausing to look back again to ensure she was following. "Come on!" This would be so fun!

"I'm coming Neema." Airya assured her as she managed to keep up with the young cub almost in a running trot. With her excersising every day with a hunt going on she was in good shape. Even her fighting skills were worth taking a second thought on if you wished. However she disliked fighting when it didn't come to putting food out for everyone, normally she would have looked for another way around it, since there was a saying that fighting wasn't the answer to everything. The two didn't seem to have any trouble walking up the rocky mountain as the warm rocks hit their paws, it was a normal walk for them and their muscles were built for it.

  • Pausing every so often to glance back and ensure that her mother was close behind, Neema trekked up the slope, jumping over the various cracks and pebbles littering the way if only because she could -- it made for a fun little game as they went. But finally, they reached their destination: a river that passed through quite tamely compared to some; more like a gentle mountain brook that snaked down into the valley below. "Yay, we're here!" And the water looked oh so inviting, too. Twisting her head around to look at her mother, she tried (impatiently) waiting for permission to practically leap into the crystal clear waters.

"Yes we are here, but please do be careful." Airya said as she managed to catch up to her cub. She also realised, that her instincts were coming in again, some how she was worried for her young cub would take one wrong step and fall in. Though the other half told her that she is a Majabalian lion, one of the best who are skilled at climbing rocks. This would be no different, just with a small stream. 'Why do you need to worry, there's nothing wrong with a small stream?' She thought to herself trying to make some sense, though the motherly instincts never seemed to fade. For now she would just have some fun with her young cub, after all they would grow up fast. As she came up to her cub's side she perched up on a few steady rocks looking down at the stream.
