Ah, the Pridelands! Synonym of plenty, abundance, paradise... As long clear that is you are a lion. For prey animals, the place was only slightly better than the outlands, with that huge Pride of lions always on the hunt. Well, but at least this place had food, for the other options had no less ravenous lions, let me tell ya!

It had always escaped Azizi's mind how the other gazelles would admire characters such as King Chion and company. Why would they recognize him as King at all for? Because he kept the hyenas away? But were his companions any better than the spotted menaces? No they weren't. And it annoyed him to no end to see his companions attend to every berthing and celebration the lions had; as if they were members of the family. But no, they ate the family, and no, the "you are what you eat" saying did not apply here. They ate the family, they did not belong to it.

Azizi wished to convince his herdmates to abandon the Pridelands and travel to someplace where there were less felines, but he knew that like always, they would not listen to him. Often he did not feel like he took part in this herd at all... Sigh. This was one of these days, when he just wanted to be alone and forget everyone.

It was then he broke the first rule of the safari: never separate from the group.

Airya the leading huntress of a close by land was close to the boarder, that she could recognize, but the smell of the zebra scent had come all this way. Normally she dared not to journey this far from home, but something brought her to the edge of the rocky mountain side she knew as home. This was sort of home, well allied ground that had been made years ago when their ancestors first walked here. Maybe I should turn back...I still worry about Neema and the others. She said softly to her self, debating what to do.
Surely the pridelanders would have welcomed her in but something held her back, her ear flicked watching the grass. Though as she scanned it just a bit further, there! There was the zebra she had been after this whole time. Finally she could bring something back for her family and not feel to bad about it. After all, it was just one harmless zebra. However she had noted how many other members of the herd were there, mixtures of zebra and gazelles were there. For now she decided to lay low in the grass and make her move later.

Realizing his mistake, the impala hastily returned to the relative protection of the herd of mixed animals. He understood his deformed horn made him stand up from the rest of his kind, and catching the huntresses's eyes was the least thing you wanted.

A zebra was standing with his head high and ears perked, staring at a certain point in the grass.

"Let me guess," Azizi said, "You think you heard a lion."

"Ah-hah." The zebra replied without taking his eyes off the particular spot in the grass.

"And we're in lion territory, no?"

The zebra stole a quick sideways glance of Priderock.

"Yes we are." He agreed.

"Then, what ARE we doing, standing in here?" The impala concluded.

They both exchanged alarmed looks by one moment before they started to run, and the herd did the same.

After a frantic marathon, the herbivores settled down in a clearing.

Had she been too loud? The heard had taken off already as she began to race after the one zebra she had seen earlier. Trying to keep it away from the heard was difficult but it would be better if she was going against one zebra instead of going against a whole herd. "Just a bit closer." She thought to herself, letting out a soft growl of frusteration, as she went for a lunge trying to latch on to it's hide.
It felt like a stampede, she had heard of the stories of the great king from Pride rock had once fallen to his death in one from atop of a cliff. How terrible that must have felt for the family remaining back at the Pridelandes. She hoped that fate wouldn't come to her, not this time. Not any time while she hunted.
