  • Her hazel eyes followed the vulture into the sky, watching its wings spread wide as it flew higher and higher. She could see why some turned to bird-watching into a regular hobby. It was rather relaxing looking at them, from this distance of course. Thinking about the sensation of weightlessness, defying landlocked creature laws and pretty much laughing in the face of their disadvantage, sounded like a very powerful experience.

Ever get the feeling that you were being watched? Amina felt like that, like she was being studied very closely. She imagined that this is what gazelle must feel like when being hunted and didn't blame them for being skittish 24/7. An awkward silence had no doubt filled the circle, but she hadn't expected that her sudden entrance would be so disturbing to the flow of things.

Realizing that it was the new cub staring at her made things worse, really odd. She tried to appear as if she didn't notice or care, but full on attention was very uncomfortable. Amina never was one for the "spotlight"; enthusiastically jumping forward, volunteering for the lead roles, was not her thing. She was more inclined to help with backstage work.
"So...do you plan on staying here long, sir?" she stuttered out. Sir?! Amina mentally kicked herself for addressing him so formally. He wasn't that much older than her! "I mean, if our leaders say it's alright, you can probably stay with us...unless you were just passing through and had somewhere else you needed to be..."

Now she was rambling. Great, just great.

"So...do you plan on staying here long, sir? I mean, if our leaders say it's alright, you can probably stay with us...unless you were just passing through and had somewhere else you needed to be..."

Vivu's gaze softened as he noticed how uncomfortable Amina was. He could tell that she felt out of place in this circle of conversation. To calm her nerves, Vivu spoke up, "Do not fear, I humbly ask to join your pride." his voice completely sincere, "I have no home and nowhere to go." he stated simply, as if talking to himself rather than Amina.

This probably wouldn't sit well with Kitara, good. In fact, she was one of the main reasons why he was doing this. So he could get the one-on-one he desired with her. That, and there was always the possibility of finding other challengers. He wondered if there was someone like him in the Pridelands.

  • Kitara almost didn't notice Amina's approach at first. Her feet were planted in the ground, and her gaze was directed right at the buzzard lion. She kept on staring, as if she dared him to do something else. He hadn't had much of a reaction to her ramblings, so she must not be doing something right. Usually, she could get lions so angry it was funny. All you had to do was to say the right things--push the right buttons. She kept on staring, hoping that her gaze would be enough to make even this collected lion crack. A determined look crossed her face, and if she was a bit older, someone might have taken her seriously.

When she heard Amina speak, she jumped a little bit. A frown crossed her face as she broke her staredown to glare back at the cub. Why did she always have to sneak up on her like that, scaring her and messing up her plan.

So...do you plan on staying here long, sir? I mean, if our leaders say it's alright, you can probably stay with us...

Kita groaned out loud. "A-min-uuuuh" She whined, sending the cub a look of annoyance mixed with confusion. "You're kidding, right? This isn't funny."

...Unless you were just passing through and had somewhere else you needed to be... The cub continued, although Kitara changed attitude slightly. She vigorously nodded her head yes, certain that there must be something better this weirdo had to do than stalk them all with his vulture buddies.

Do not fear, I humbly ask to join your pride. The buzzard lion said, and Kita couldn't help but return to staring at Vivu. No...there was no way. He couldn't honestly want to join the Pridelands, did he? No, no, no.

"He's not joking." Kita said in a half-whisper to herself, slightly in shock. Then, a little stronger, "You guys better not just be messing with me."[/color]

"You guys better not just be messing with me."

Orrin sighed."Kitara, must we review your manners again? Be nice. This young lion is more than welcome to join the pride, and you know that, provided he behaves himself."

She smiled back at Vivu. "Are you hungry by chance? "She asked."At the very least, I'm sure our King would not mind me offering you a small meal while you are with us.You've come a long way, if you truly are from the desert as you say."

Vivu gave a low humble bow towards Orrin, appreciating the gesture. It was the truth, he hadn't eaten in awhile. "Thank you, I accept your offer." Again, using words that he knew how to pronounce. The buzzard lion saw that Kitara's behavior wasn't tolerated in the Pridelands. Which meant that the others probably wouldn't be as discourteous to him as she was. With that, Vivu decided that he would indeed stay in the Pridelands, of course, he would come and go as he pleased.

Orrin gave a kind smile."Come then. I will find you something that you can eat."She turned slowly, and finally noticed Amina standing there.

"Oh, I almost forgot about you."She said to the cub."How is your head feeling?Still tender?" She started to turn her head around to all possible angles, examining the bump.

  • His request and tone calmed her nerves. Amina's young pridemate's complaints and protests, on the other paw, were irritating, ultimately going ignored.

You're kidding, right? This isn't funny.

A mild smile crept along the creases of her lips. Odd. It was very amusing to her.

Amina and Kita's relationship was one word: tolerance. She had long since given up on the possibility of becoming close friends with the other female. Kitara was too stubborn and Amina didn't like wasting energy on those who wouldn't even try being nice. As she promised herself, the chocolate cub continued to be kind and offer assistance to anyone who asked or required help, but anything more or less in her case was plain coincidence. Orrin tried to correct this behavior, with invisible progress.

Nodding in approval at the lioness' gesture, Amina dipped her head as well.
"Welcome to the Pridelands, Vivu." She ended with a sweet, pleasant smile. Hopefully, he would be more open to friendship...unlike SOME lions.

Oh, I almost forgot about you. How is your head feeling?Still tender?

That hurt a little, but she reminded herself that the shamaness had a busy lifestyle and could not always remember less serious issues.
"Fine," she answered bluntly, "Still tender, but a lot better than it was before."

Kitara rolled her eyes at Orrin's scoldings. "Okay, okay. I'll be nice to Vivu." She said in an exasperated voice. She knew what manners were, sure. But why did she have to use them now, of all times? They just made it harder for her to say what she thought of things.

She glanced over at Amina, a slight grin at her lips. "Stop laughing!" She tried, sending the cub one of her glares. She didn't see what was so funny about this. In fact, in her opinion it was far from funny.

"Welcome to the Pridelands, Vivu." Kitara said in a monotone, repeating all of Amina's words right after they came out of her mouth. Since she'd just promised Orrin about being nice...the cub felt like she'd better hurry up and get it over with.

Orrin listened carefully as Amina responded to her, wanting to make sure that her youngest charge was alright.

"Good."She said with a nod."Let's hope it continues to heal so fast. What about your memory? Anything coming back? No blacking out?"

Orrin's ears caught the sounds of Kitara welcoming the new cub to the lands and the edges of her mouth curled into a smile, proud of the young lioness she had come to think of, at least somewhat, as her own.

Vivu bowed in acceptance, even to Kitara. This promised to be a fruitful adventure indeed. From this brief encounter, he saw that some lions were initially friendly, some slightly hostile. But the most impressive thing in Vivu's eyes was, how they were unable to realize that he was the Griffon of the Desert. Then again, their mental picture of a Griffon probably hindered that. A beast with a lions body with the head of an eagle/vulture =/= Lanky lion cub with a terrible accent and long gash on its back that vultures perch on. They must have thought he was kidding. Little did they know how much blood was on his paws...

The buzzard lion took a few steps towards Pride Rock, taking in the scale of the naturally formed monument. "Shall we go?" he asked, clearly eager to see the what awaited him here. After eating, he would make his way towards the Kilimanjaro range that Tumbusi had spoke of. Tai, Tumbusi, and Gushu were still flying about in the air, observing Vivu's progress from afar. It warmed their hearts to see Vivu be accepted by his own kind. Though they were not related by blood, their bond was constructed by history and experience which ran much deeper.

  • Good. Let's hope it continues to heal so fast.

She nodded also. Amina liked Orrin and having something to do, especially visiting the great tree, but wasn't fond of having to be cared for or worried about. Sympathy and pity didn't sit well with her, though the cub admittedly distributed it on occasion.

What about your memory? Anything coming back? No blacking out?

Staring at the ground, Amina shook her head.
"No more blacking out..." She didn't answer the first part, feeling very uncomfortable talking about it in front of Kitara and Vivu. Nothing had come back yet.

The cub was grateful when he changed the topic.
"That's right," she said, standing up and moving out of the shaman's reach, "We need to get him something to eat." From this angle, she could now see the scar on his back. Forcing herself not to gawk at it, the cub walked up to his side.
"That's where the pride lives," she explained, voice very friendly and cheerful-like, "We need to go to the hunting grounds first. That's where the food is." Unless there was another spot she didn't know about. In fact, she was fairly new here herself.

Kitara was a bit shocked when the cub went down a little bit. She'd never really seen a lion bow to another, and she'd certainly never been bowed to in her life before. She stared at him in confusion, before piping up. "What, is there something else wrong with your back?" She questioned, not so much referring to his scar, but for the reason he'd suddenly leaned forward. An ugly scar like that must act up once and a while, she assumed. Maybe the pain was just too much for him to handle.
Shall we go? He asked, now suddenly back to normal...? Kitara was quite confused by this, but with no explination in sight she just let it drop. "Suuuure." She replied, still a bit unenthusiastic. She had a feeling that with Orrin around, she'd have no choice but to come with her and Amina as they showed Vivu around.

In the background, Amina and Orrin were discussing something about memory? blackouts? She honestly didn't care too much. She was too busy dreading the next few hours to notice too much else.

We need to get him something to eat.

"We?" Kita questioned, pointing a paw at herself. How was she supposed to get the cub anything? She could hardly hunt anything larger than beetles, herself! And now she was suggesting that they find him food...ha. What a joke.

When Amina mentioned where the food was and where the pride lived, Kitara couldn't help but let out a small, sarcastic "nooo." She bet even the new guy could figure that out. Besides the fact that there were lions everywhere...it was Pride Rock, the icon of all prides!

"Good."Orrin told Amina with a reassuring smile."This means you are healing. Hopefully your mind will make a full recovery."

Orrin's attention then turned to the other two. She sighed at Kitara's naivety."Don't worry,Kitara."She said kindly."You are not expected to hunt yet, nor will you have to.I will find us all something to eat."

She turned her eyes and ears towards the open plains, the hunting grounds."Come along, cubs. But remember, we must all be silent. If I crouch, you must crouch and remain still. A hunt is difficult enough for a lioness alone without three cubs to mind."
