Vivu let out a snort at his nickname. Firo was bringing out the daredevil in him. He had never met anyone like Firo before, and he was enjoying every second of it. It was nice to speak with a lion that didn't patronize, ask about his scar or question his accent.

"Fear? What is that?" Vivu asked rhetorically, his voice full of confidence. His accent made it all the more effective. When it came to fighting those much bigger than him, he would always think back to his father's saying, 'The bigger they are, the more they bleed.' The buzzard lion picked himself up, "I have fought those much bigger than me be-fore." Vivu told him, "I think that, together, we could face them. What say you, Firo of Tawi?"

Firo leapt forward ahead at Vivu's words and gave a laugh. 'I think you're right, Vivu. No one will stand a chance against us!' With his confidence inflated, the spotted cub led the way higher up the mountain, the Tawi Forest moving further and further away from them with each step. He wondered what the buzzard cub meant when he said he had fought those much bigger than himself. Was this cub one of those lions who picked a fight with everyone he saw? Perhaps that's where he got his scar from. However, Firo didn't believe so. If Vivu was a lion with a thirst for battle, he would have attacked the spotted cub on first sight.

As they clambered over some rocks, Firo turned around. 'So why are you so tall?' he asked. He gathered Vivu was around his age judging by his youthful features, yet his form was closer to adolescent than cubhood. 'Does it help you grow if you fly?' Maybe Firo should try throwing himself off a cliff one day if it'll make him grow faster.

ooc: I uploaded an illustration of a scene in the first page of this thread. Oh, should we invite some Majabalians into this thread? or do you prefer we rp some random lions?

((I like the picture, really captures the scene. And I'd definitely add some Majabalians in to the scene. It would thicken the plot.))

Vivu let out a brief chortle in amusement and followed suit. Firo really thought that he could fly. Though they were roughly the same age, he was amazed at just how much a change of environment affected personality. Something to share with his venue, provided they didn't know already. Vivu was grateful to them for giving him this opportunity, not many have a second chance at life.

As Vivu made his way up the boulders, he answered, "I am tall, because my mother and father were tall..." if there was one thing he remembered about his parents, it was their height. Then again, most cubs obviously find their parents tall. "About flying..." Vivu had that quizzical look about him again. Did he really have to lie to Firo at this point? He no longer saw any harm in Firo knowing a bit more about him. "I co-municate with vultures, the reason behind my... ack-sent. I let a lot vultures pick me up, and then I fly." He answered, doing his best to pick words that he knew how to pronounce.

Firo found himself staring at Vivu the second time that day. Did he just sat vultures? The only vultures he'd seen were those who picked the carcass off another animal. He found the image rather disturbing to his young mind and was one of the first lessons he learnt about the circle of life - that the world was a cruel place. Vivu spoke with these animals? It seemed impossible. Let alone, fly with them. And to a degree, he found himself questioning the truth behind the cub's words. It seemed too far-fetched.

'You talk to vultures?' Firo asked, finding it hard to keep the skeptism out of his voice. 'How did you learn to do that? They don't try to eat you?' Firo was glad that it was quite dark, for it masked the raised-eyebrows of his features as he leapt across to another rock, his stomach lurching as he nearly missed his step.

Vivu looked surprised, "of course not, vultures only eat the deceased." the buzzard lion gave the cub a thoughtful glance, "they looked after me after my parents died... they are not bad." he explained, feeling obligated to clear up any confusion about scavengers whenever possible. They needed a voice, and he would be that voice.

Now this was the part that Vivu liked to discuss, "Do you want to know about the lane-guagg?" he asked, hoping the answer would be yes. He humored the idea of other lions learning the vulture dialect. It could benefit them much more in the grand scheme of things. The vultures had so much to teach.

Firo considered Vivu's question. There was so much strange things about him. 'Yes, of course I'd like to know about the language. I didn't know lions could talk to vultures,' Firo said, leaping across to another rock.

He dropped his head, suddenly feeling the need to whisper. They were deep in the mountain territory now and who knows where those lion were. Perhaps they were being stalked right now. Suddenly, the idea of exploring in the dark didn't seem such a smart idea. 'And I'm sorry about your parents. I lost mine too and I don't even remember them,' he whispered. Firo didn't feel too bad though. How can you miss something when you didn't even know them?

'Yes, of course I'd like to know about the language. I didn't know lions could talk to vultures,'

Vivu made his way to the same rock as Firo, following the other cub effortlessly. They were beginning to make their way deeper into the chasm. He knew that they were not alone, he could feel foreign eyes staring at them from afar. Let them stare, as long as they didn't confront them. Before Vivu could begin his lecture on the vulture dialect, Firo added...

'And I'm sorry about your parents. I lost mine too and I don't even remember them,'

This actually struck a chord. When Vivu's parents died, no one was there to mourn for them. The vultures explained death to him, but they didn't really know how to comfort him about it. Instead, they romanticized death. They made it seem like a liberator, rather than a cruel loss. He adopted this viewpoint when he became the Griffon of the desert, and as far as he could see, no one was there to mourn for his victims either to show him otherwise...

So for Firo to actually say that, really resonated with him. In a rare moment at sentimentality, Vivu placed his paw on Firo's shoulder. "Thank you." his voice carrying a foreign softness, "I am sorry for your loss as well." then it struck him, how many parents did he kill as the Griffon? He was certain that they too must have had loved ones. True, he did what he had to do to survive, and through that, he became strong; but was he wrong for what he did?

Vivu confided into his vulture side, this was not the time for such emotions. He could debate the morality of his actions later, when his life wasn't in danger. To help get his mind off of the subject, Vivu began his lecture. "As far as the lane-guagg is concerned..." he started, "by the way, please tell me if I am saying a word encore-ectly." he mentioned, not realizing how funny he sounded.

Firo smiled as Vivu made a move to comfort him. In this moment, two cubs became true friends. The spotted cub dipped his head in acknowledgement of his actions and moved on, scrapping up and over a rock.

'In-correctly,' the cub said, a laugh in his voice to show that he didn't mean offence. 'The language of the vultures must be quite different. They certainly don't speak like us do they?'

Vivu looked up in thought, "incorrectly..." he repeated, "incorrectly. I see." turning his attention back to Firo. Vivu couldn't help but smile back at him, what could he say? It was contagious. In Vivu's eyes, Firo was becoming the brother that he never had. In fact, if he taught Firo the language of the buzzards, maybe the spotted cub could become something of a buzzard lion himself? That was an idea that Vivu liked.

'The language of the vultures must be quite different. They certainly don't speak like us do they?'

The buzzard lion nodded firmly, "yes it is quite 'different'," copying Firo's pronunciation of different, "It is a dialect of hisses, grunts, and body language." he tried to explain simply. In order for Firo to really grasp the language, he would need a vulture to demonstrate a conversation. Where was Tai when he needed him?

Firo nodded, as if he understood. But honestly, he didn't. He can't imagine a language based solely on hisses, grunts and body language. To him, that sounded like the language that all lions conversed with when being woken up from a deep slumber or when they're fighting over scraps of meat. Now he wondered if vultures spoke like that, whether all birds spoke the same way.

'So then,' Firo whispered, leaping higher yet onto a boulder. 'How do you say your name in Vulture?' It was truly dark by then. Perhaps it was time to turn back? Who knows what mountain lions did to little trespassing cubs in the dead of night.

Ooc: Saw the announcement that Juffy put up, so I'll join with Airya.
Bic:The tan lion had come back from a good hunt again, the zebra heards were still there, not planning a move anytime soon. She was going slower than normal but somehow she managed. In her mouth, she dragged what was left of a large piece of meet from a left over carcass of a zebra that she had taken down, it was a large piece, one that could feed a large portion of the lions in the group. Though she was sure that other members of her hunting group would come back as successful as she was. Soon she began to climb up the rocks with her fresh meat still in hand.
Something caught her senstive ears, something in the distance she heard, like footsteps. No not just a pair of one set of paws. There was perhaps another set along with them. She wasn't entirely sure were they were coming from, but this meant that there were others nearby. She would have to return her meat quickly to the pride members and then later go out to investigate what was going on. "It seems we have intruders." Airya thought to herself, it was rare to see another lion from a diffrent pride here.

The large elephant had been trailing Airya the entire time, continually begging her to let him watch the cubs soon. Tembo had had far too much free time these past few days, which meant far too much time chatting with skittish gazelles and silent zebras. Not that there wasn't anything wrong with talking with herd animals--they just didn't always have the most interesting things to talk about. Plus, they were always breaking off mid-conversation, sprinting off into the distance without any advance notice. Not like lions. Felines just seemed to be far more interesting overall.

"You would not believe how mad those zebras are!" He exclaimed to Airya, oblivious as to the fact that she couldn't respond with the hunk of meat in her mouth. "I can hear them from here! They are just fuming!" He said, but in good humor. They would get over it; they always did.

As the lead huntress began to drag the meat up the rocks, Tembo thundered forward to help. "Hey, do you need me to carry that?" He offered. "I mean, meat is sort of smelly and disgusting, but if you really need me to I can so carry it." He said, blabbering on until he finally noticed that Airya had stopped.

"What is it?" He said, breaking off from his other chain of though.

Vivu let out a slight hum, "I went by two names..." Vivu revealed, still having the Griffon of the Desert lingering over him. In order to prevent Firo from asking about his other name, he decided to go ahead and say/breathe them. "heeh-heuu," he breathed while placing his forelegs in a sitting position. This was for Vivu, which meant idle/lazy in Swahili. He didn't know why his parents chose to name him that, maybe because he slept a lot as a cub, he didn't know.

"And," he prepared himself for this one, "Teeh-guuu-faauuun!" he placed his arms out and stood on his hindlegs. This was the Griffon of the Desert. The lion's rendition of the universal horaltic pose. All vultures spread their wings out to welcome the sun. For the caress of its rays, to the respect of its power. There is also a vulture's tale pertaining to the sun. However, Vivu would touch upon that later.

It was then that he picked on a new presence, one that was near, very near as a matter of fact. "Firo, fight or flight?" he asked, not taking his eyes off the source of the noise. He wanted to know ahead of time in case things got bad.

Firo gazed at Vivu's stance as he pronounced his first name, and literally staggered back a little when he performed his second. 'Oh,' the spotted cub replied. 'Nice names. You mean like this? Teeee-guur-faaawnn!' he said, standing on his hind legs, which was not a good idea when you were balanced on a rock. The golden cub rolled down the boulder and landed in a heap of fur at the bottom. Luckily it was only a small boulder and Firo was able to regain his feet quite quickly to leap back to the top. The cub laughed, Vulture language was fun.

It was then that he heard the small noises. The cub turned in the direction where Vivu was gazing at and saw two shadows, not far from where them two cubs were standing. Not far at all! And one of them was huge!!! Firo estimated them to be about ten metres away. How could they be so careless!!! Now these mountain lions have found them. They're going to be eaten alive!

'Vivu, these mountain lions have found us. We are going to be eaten alive,' he repeated his thoughts. 'You have no idea, they're vicious monsters. And they're large. There is no where to hide.' Firo looked around, seeing all the cracks and holes of the rocks. 'Well, no where to hide once they've seen us. And I think they've seen us. We should fight until the end - like brothers.' Firo extended a paw to highfive Vivu, not knowing that if these two shadows actually turned out to be hostile, the two cubs would be dead very soon.

Airya decided to drop the meat for a moment to speak with the elephant, he had been pestering her for most of the time, she could only get away from him while she hunted. "Look normally I'm not the one to be mad at someone, but to let you know we've been eating meat since the dawn of time. Nothing has changed that, and I wouldn't have a job if we didn't eat meat. You don't see lions eating grass do you? And cubs woulds starve to death if we didn't constantly provide food for them." She asked, though it was a retorihical question.
She paused, looking back at the direction of where the noises had come from, her ears moving again as she tried to listen. "Someone's here, or at least two people are." She picked up the meat trying to drag it back first, she had to deliver this back to the dens before she did any investigating.
