i was first in line until the little hairball was born- NAME: Jasiri (coming from ujasiri, meaning courage in swahili)
NICKNAME: Depends on if you can think of one GENDER: Male SPECIES: Lion RANKING:former heir Member AGE: Older Adolescent
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: He has the look of a fighter, of a bouncer, of a mob enforcer. However, he doesn't quite have the build of one...just yet. His thin, but muscular is slightly wider at the front, although the rest of his bulk is fairly spread out along the rest of him. He's got powerful back legs, capable of jumping up, jumping out, even hopping to the sides. He's always prepared to be on the move--ready to spring up and run at a moment's notice. Whenever he walks in mud, there's always a distinct, wide pawprint that's easily recognizable.
His fur's a thick, honey brown with slightly lighter stockings on his front two feet. His mane is a rich, golden yellow, with just a bit of a curl to the ends. As he grows into it, though, it turns into a two-toned mane, much like true lions in Africa. In the front, he keeps the blonde portion, but at the back, it fades into a darker, blackish tone. The coloring at his back legs is a bit lighter, and fades into his normal color the farther up the leg you get. The only darker part of his body is his ear rims and eyes.
our teeth and ambitions are bared be prepared- PERSONALITY: Jasiri has a quieter personality, preferring to sit and stay silent instead of running around and spurting out opinions. He's not one for a lot of socializing, and for the most part keeps to himself. It's not that he'd rather be alone, or doesn't appreciate the company of others...it's just he'd prefer not to be chatting constantly. He'd much rather sit and observe than talk, or even fight.
Jasiri's definitely more of a listener and this makes him excellent for giving orders to. He's not one to speak up that often, much less talk back. However, underneath all of his brawn, his brain's hard at work. Whenever this lion does speak his mind, he's generally taken very seriously. He's not one to joke about things, either.
In fact, the only time he's ever truly passionate is when his home is being threatened. A few misplaced comments can switch on his rarely-seen angered side, and this is where his strength comes in. (In fact, Shetani knows this and frequently uses it to her advantage, sending him into situations where she knows he'll be forced to use all of his strength in order to help the Outlands.)
RELATIVES: Father: Enzi, the Majabali king. Outlander mother
HISTORY: He was born a traitor, as Shetani would accuse. His mother was one of the enemy outlanders, the ones desperately fighting against the devil lioness's takeover. She would later die of her injuries from that battle, leaving the cub Jasiri with nowhere to go but to the Kilimanjaro Range with his father.
His father was there when he was born, and begged and begged Jasiri's mother to let him take the cub to mountains. There, he would be free of the barren land she called home, and would be able to grow into a strong, healthy cub. He would become ten times the lion he would be than if he was raised in the outlands, as he said. Naturally, she refused--but he wasn't about to take no for an answer. He stole the cub away on his next visit, leaving his mother devastated and in no shape for resisting Shetani. She was so preoccupied with losing her son that she ended up losing her life in her carelessness and grief.
However, Jasiri and his father had no idea as to what they'd done. When news eventually reached them that she was dead, and the Outlands had been taken over, they too were heartbroken--but unaware that they were the majority of the reason she was dead.
The cub stayed in Majabli, though, with no desire to go back to the Outlands at first. The mountains were an excellent place for him to grow up strong, and he did--one of the strongest his age. In fact, the king and queen of the pride took a liking to the cub, wishing to train him as an heir of their own.
At least, until Koa appeard. As soon as his 'brother' was born, Jasiri was cast aside. Now that they had a cub of their own, there was no need for this backup kid. They spent more and more time away from him, and soon enough he was only a shadow of the 'prince' he once was.
As he grew from cub to adolescent, a sense of hatred began to envelop him. He already spent most of his time alone, walking along the borders while lost in thought. He hated the king and queen, for turning their backs on him as if he didn't exist. They hardly even acknowledged him anymore--they were so obsessed over their own son.
And then, the time came where he snapped. He left the Majabali, determined to go back to the place of his birth--the Outlands. He came to discover that the land was far better than his father had portrayed it in the overly-exaggerated horror stories When he finally got there, he explained his situation to the majority of the lionesses. Once they found out who his mother was, they were happy to let him join his rightful pride. There was only one lioness who didn't approve, and that was Shetani herself.
She claimed that he must be bent on betraying them all--no cub raised outside of the outlands could never truly be an outlander. Besides that, he was half Majabalian..his blood was not right, with only having one Outlander parent. She also remembered the lioness he spoke of...remembered her bothersome resistance against her takeover. The way she saw it, he had clearly been trained to sneak in and take her down. Jasiri denied all of it--he was determined to regain some of the power that had once been his.
Eventually, she let him stay, but only because of his size. As much as she hated to admit it, she would need more muscle around to make her feel safer. He's still under constant scrutiny to this day, as a part of Shetani is determined that this guy is trouble, while all Jasiri is trying to do is to prove himself as a true, useful member of his birth pride.
