The sun was starting to rise on Pride Rock, one of the most well-known landmarks in the lands. At the edge of this natural structure, kings and their heirs are introduced. Vivu perched on the edge, his strong hind legs supporting him effortlessly, slouching on his forelegs. With him were his venue, one on each side, and Tai resting on his back. Vivu looked right at home, hunched over with the rest of the scavengers, waiting for something.

As the sun rose over the horizon, Vivu's eyes glowed with anticipation. Rising on his hind legs, he stretched his arms out, allowing the sun's rays to touch him. This was Vivu's horaltic pose. All vultures basked in the sun's rays, to welcome the sun. Most of the lions were still asleep at this hour, allowing Vivu and his venue to perform this ritual undisturbed.

After basking in the morning sun, the vultures took off. They knew they weren't welcome here, at least not yet. Tai was confident Vivu would introduce his venue to the other lions when he was ready. Vivu still had to assimilate to being around his own kind. He had only been here for about a day or so, so he really didn't know anyone well enough. However, to Vivu, that was just a challenge to overcome.

Kofi had yawned in the shade of the cave shadows. He was resting with the other lions and lionesses around the same age in his den. Though he remained in his own side keeping away from the others since he spent most of his time alone and perferred it that way. He did have a friend that he hadn't seen in sometime, it was at this very spot, though he was a loner. He didn't mind that he had friends come and go, it kept to a part of his lone personality that he had. Perhaps one day he would go on his own to explore more, or offer his friend to explore with him if he saw him again. "Mornings always come fast." He grumbled and began to streatch his tired muscles. "And night always comes slowly." He added and began to stand.
Here he was a tan looking lion with almost brown mane, on his back legs he had a group of splotch like areas that could be easily noticed. He was far different than the normal golden lionesses or lions that he saw here. Though he had figured our years ago that his origin did not come from priderock. It only made him wonder a bit more of where he came from. "But it looks like I'll have something keeping me buisy in no time." He thought to himself.
“There is more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done.”

((*sets music* the once and future king))

  • Kirara always woke up early. She'd been stepped on or moved aside enough times by her pridemates, and the only solution seemed to be getting up before them. That's what she done this morning. As soon as the sunlight peeked into the large den, the cub pulled herself from out of a pile of lions, careful not to disturb anyone. For the most part, they all seemed asleep--and that was for the best. The less people that saw her sneak out, the better.

Her ears flickered slightly as she picked up on another soft voice, probably from the pile of lions next to her. An adolescent she recognized as Kofi was also making his way out of the dens, mumbling something that she couldn't quite pick up. He followed him out of the dens with an innate curiosity, and stopped when she saw yet another cub she recognized--Vivu.

It was no wonder he was already out of the dens. With him just arriving, it was no wonder he didn't feel completely comfortable with so many lions. Especially if he had spend most of his life in the desert, like the stories had said. She could see the forms of birds on the horizon, most likely the same vultures that constantly followed Vivu around.

"Good morning, Vivu." She said, mustering up as much politeness as she could. After the previous day's encounter, Orrin had certainly given her a long lecture on the importance of watching her tongue. Still, though, there was a lot of warmth still in her voice. She was in a great mood today, and part of her wished to make up for her behavior yesterday. Maybe if the buzzard cub wasn't so mad at her, he might tell her more about his strange ways.

"Good morning, Vivu."

Vivu immediately recognized the voice and turned around. Not only did he see Kitara, who was being unusually kind to him, but he saw another lion. This lion was clearly not from the Pridelands, his tan fur and splotch marks were dead giveaways. However, Vivu was not one to dwell on features for very long, especially considering his appearance. The buzzard lion was curious about this lion however, it may develop into an 'interesting experience'.

"Good morning. Kitara." he replied, his accent carrying a smooth tone. As long as Kitara spoke to him with respect, he would return it. Vivu wondered if she had finally pieced together that he was, indeed, the infamous Griffon of the Desert. No doubt, she must have saw his venue fly off. However, Vivu was not too concerned about that anymore. It wasn't like they would believe him if he told them. The Griffon is a beast of fantasy, an unnatural creature. If they'd rather believe the legend than the actual lion, so be it.

"Your vultures are gone." She noted with a growing interest, still watching the birds disappear farther and farther into the horizon. Kitara took a slight sniff, attempting to detect any changes in the vulture lion's scent. From what she could tell, he still smelled the same. But there was always the possibility that he might always smell like that, with or without taking a bath.

"What, did you finally take a bath?' She joked, though this time is was meant in a nicer manner, with less biting sarcasm. "I'm kidding." She added, remembering yet another thing Orrin had drilled into her--to let others know when you're joking so that you don't get on their nerves so much. Sometimes, it was hard to tell whether she was making fun of you or just making a joke. Most of the time, it was both.

After this, she sat down next to the buzzard lion, attempting to follow his stare. She couldn't quite figure out what exactly he kept looking at. All she could see was the flat lands...but Vivu kept looking out, as if he was staring at something completely different. How strange...

Surprisingly, Vivu knew what Kitara meant by kidding. 'My father used to kid,' Vivu thought, then he realized the bitter irony in that statement. What he meant was, his father was known for his sense of humor. 'Too much gloom leads to doom' was a lesson he taught Vivu. It was one of the reasons why he didn't wallow in his misery due to the wildebeest incident. He wasn't going to let the past kill him. But by being here, was he really putting the past behind him? Or was he simply running away?

Vivu broke away from his thoughts, the view had made his mind wander. "Hmm..." was Vivu's only response. "This view is..." he took a minute to search for the right word, "astonishing..." he pronounced unusually well. It was a word that he heard before, so he just copied the pronunciation. It was his method to reduce his constant vocal missteps. Vivu was embarrassed by it sometimes, whenever he wanted to be serious, he messes up on a word and others laugh. He didn't want to be feared, but he didn't want to be thought of as a joke.

Vivu didn't seem to be amused by Kitara's joke, which was a little awkward on her part. She'd gone to all the trouble of specifying that it was a joke, too. She'd stopped herself from insulting Vivu, and for what? He didn't even look back in her direction. It was no wonder she was never this nice. It was too boring, and no one ever said anything. All Vivu did was let out a slight 'hmm.' A not-amused, yet polite laugh. She should've figured something like this would happen.

This view is...astonishing...

The buzzard cub said in a surprisingly lionesque tone. One of her eyebrows rose slightly in surprise. Just yesterday, this cub stumbled over the simplest words. How had he gotten rid of that 'ack-sent' so quickly?

Kita leaned forward slightly, her neck craning forward. She was hesitant to go too far out, though, with the edge of Pride Rock right underfoot. She squinted her eyes in an attempt to see better. So far, nothing.

"What view?" She asked, squinting her eyes even harder. "All I see is a bunch of flat, brown grass."

Vivu turned his head towards Kitara, "I have been living in the desert all my life. It is... empress-ive to me." he stated, having a feeling that he didn't say that word right. "Allow me to guess, I said that wrong." Vivu added in a dry tone. He was still new to the language, he didn't even know how contractions worked. The buzzard lion was afraid that, if he tried using contractions, he'd try them on words that didn't require them. It would only further confuse his speech, so he chose not to bother.

"By the way," Vivu tilted his head back, "who is the tan lion back there? He seems... cool." Remembering that's what his dad called him once. Hearing Vivu say cool, was the most awkward thing he's said yet. Granted, he used it properly, but still... cool? Vivu couldn't help but smile to himself; look at him, talking like a lion cub. Next thing he knew he would be just like his brother, Firo. He had to admit, that adventure they had last night was amazing. He had never seen an ele-faunt... elephant up close before. And Vivu didn't know how he and Firo became so close, but he didn't care. All he knew was that he had a brother in him.

I have been living in the desert all my life. It is... empress-ive to me. Allow me to guess, I said that wrong.

'...Yeah." Kitara said, grimacing for a moment at his mispronunciation. She tried to mask it with a smile, but she doubted that the cub next to her would be fooled. "It's IM-pressive. For future refrence." She suggested, scratching at at her ear with one of her back feet.

"I just don't see how it's impressive, though. To me it's just a bunch of grass." She said with a shrug, not wanting to really elaborate further. With all of her travels as a young cub, she'd seen more than her fair share of endless grasslands.

She turned her head slightly at the new cub, her interest still there. "Why did you live in the desert so long?" She asked, an innocent enough question. With all of his vulture buddies to feed, Kitara wondered why Vivu hadn't traveled to a more plentiful place in terms of food. It would have made more sense, at least to her.

By the way ...who is the tan lion back there? He seems... cool.

Vivu asked, his wording still containing the usual awkward undertone. She could tell that the lion was still uncomfortable with this language. The cub suppressed a smile before glancing back over her shoulder to see the lion he spoke up.

"Oh. That's just Kofi." She said, no real emotion in her voice. She hadn't really interacted with the adolescent before. There was no reason for her to, really. She just knew of him, rather than knowing him personally. And cool? "I wouldn't say that he's...cool." She added. "Then again, I don't really know him. When I came out of the dens a minute ago he was talking to himself." She said this last part in a whisper, as if she didn't want the adolescent to overhear them. It was an important detail, at least to her. As far as she knew, lions that talked to themselves were a bit strange.

His sensitive ears heard everything, however he was keeping his distance from the young cubs. He couldn't help it, it was just a part of his personality, though they seemed to be interested in him none the less. Maybe he needed not to be shy for once and come out of his little barrier? He sighed deciding that was the best way to be, come out of his barrier. Besides it's a new day and he already made one friend already. He just wondered what he had been up too these days. He took a few paw steps forwards towards the younger members of Priderock hearing his name once more, and mentioning the word cool? Was he really cool to the other lions that were here? He had serious doubts. They might as well checked out that cheetah that he ran into that didn't eat meat. He was a veggitarian and a loner that roamed through some of the planes, here not caring for the territory lines.
"I don't mean to be eaves dropping but I heard you speak of me. Were you interested or..." He felt his shiness kick in again as he looked at the ground. The conversation was already starting to become awkward for the young adolescent.

Vivu, still sitting on his hind legs, turned his head in response to Kofi. The grotesque gash that journeyed down Vivu's spine was in plain view of Kofi. Vivu had a unique mark too. The buzzard lion saw the shyness in Kofi's body language, he also noticed how small he was for an adolescent. The two of them were practically at eye level, and Vivu was still a cub. Then again, he did come from tall parents.

"Yes, I would like to know your tale, Kofi." Vivu replied, his voice carrying curiosity. He had never come across a lion so shy before. Then again, he had only come across five lions since his travel. The bizarre splotches on Kofi's body, he wondered whether or not they were natural or made. The buzzard lions tail swished to the side, and he turned his gaze back to the horizon. This was Vivu's invite for him to sit beside him, which was Vivu's preferred arrangement of conversation.

  • The lion cub flicked her tail in annoyance as the other lion walked towards them. Vivu's attention had been pulled away from her, away from her dangling question. It bothered her when others didn't answer her question, and this was no different. She turned her head to give Kofi a look of indifference, as if it was his fault that the cub beside her hadn't answered it.

He kept hesitating before he walked over, almost as if he was afraid to come any closer. Good. She couldn't blame him, with her practically glaring at him. Besides that, Vivu was still beside her. He was enough to scare anyone away, with that lovely scar and smell of his.

I don't mean to be eaves dropping but I heard you speak of me. Were you interested or...

The lion said, trailing off awkwardly. Kitara considered what he'd said. Was she interested? No. She opened her mouth to say so, but Vivu beat her to it. The corner of her lip turned down slightly; he didn't seem to have the same opinion as her. Oh well. She'd just have to sit here and endure it, it seemed like. She stared over at Kofi, waiting fo him to start. This had better be worth her time...

"My tale? As coming to Priderock? I was born here that's really all I know. Much of my past is shrouded in mystery." He asked noticing Kitara sitting nearby, some how he could try and find a way for her to come into the conversation instead of leaving her out. He wasn't that interesting he thought, the shy one, who always kept to himself and didn't speak much unless he was spoken too. Even here he felt himself being somewhat of a nuisance to the other cubs here, barging into their conversation didn't feel right. He sighed looking at the ground with his hazel eyes.
"Maybe I shouldn't have come in like that I'll leave you alone if you want." He said standing back up on all fours again as he was preparing to leave.

"Stay." Vivu practically ordered. The buzzard lion wanted to know more about this mystery. Kofi's shyness was beginning to bother Vivu, from what he heard, lions were creatures of confidence. If you are strong lion, act accordingly. Then again, Kofi was small for a lion his age, so maybe his shyness was attributed to weakness? The buzzard lion wondered whether or not he should challenge Kofi later. It may help the young lion learn to show some confidence.

Vivu glanced at Kitara, who was practically glaring at Kofi. Perhaps she was the source of his behavior? With that in mind, Vivu nudged Kitara with his paw, his way of notifying her that she still had his attention. He hadn't forgotten about her, how could he? "Do you reh-call any thing else?" Vivu continued to pry, his accent seeping through once more. The lanky cub turned around and leaned low to the ground, trying to make eye contact with Kofi.

Kitara shrugged at Kofi's last sentence. It wasn't that she wanted him to leave more so than just leave her alone. Besides, where was he planning on going back to? The dens? He really had no choice to stick around for a little bit, as far as she could see. It was no surprise that Vivu had stopped him from wandering off to who-knows-where.

She felt a bony paw stick into her side, belonging to none other than Vivu himself. "Ow." She complained softly, quickly glancing down to make sure nothing was bruised or injured or both. Kitara just couldn't take any chances--if something happened to her, she would just have to complain some more.

Do you reh-call anything else?

"Don'tcha think he would have told you if he recalled anything else?" Kitara piped in, finally having a chance to join in the conversation.
