Kofi stopped returning to the spot where he had just been hearing Vivu's words. He had reacted without revolt and remained there with the two other cubs. Though he shook his head listening back to Kitara as she spoke. There was one other thing he remembered back when he had first gone on his exploration. "There was one thing that I remember. My first time leaving Pride Rock I ran into a lone Cheetah and since he had been through here mulitple times I had asked him if he knew anything about me. And he shook his head not recalling much but did mention the few words, 'I do remember an exhausted female come through here, but that was months ago.'" He explained and put his paws side by side as he concluded his short story.

"Don'tcha think he would have told you if he recalled anything else?"

Annoyed, Vivu tapped her with his paw again, knowing how uneasy she was with him touching her. It was understandable, considering most of the things he touched were either dead or dying. Why try and make a witty comeback when a nudge was just as efficient? That's when Vivu wondered, did Kitara know he was The Griffon of the Desert? It was so obvious at this point, he barely tried to hide it. Constantly around scavengers, lingering scent of death that followed him, his general presence. At this point, Vivu was unsure as to whether Kitara really cared of if she was just dense.

As Vivu listened on to Kofi's story, he nodded as he looked at the still fascinating (to him) grass. "You never knew your parents..." he commented with a strange tone in his voice, "my parents are dead." the fact that Vivu could say that so easily was unsettling. "Lost in the desert..." Vivu starting speaking to himself rather than his company, "the buzzards my only compan-ions... I had to become one to survive. No other option..." he hissed in the vulture dialect.

Realizing what he was blurting, Vivu immediately perked up in attempt to change the subject, "Is that grass always that co-lor, or does it change?" just something he was curious about.

"Oooh." Kitara broke in after Kofi finished his little add-on. "How ever-so-mysteeerious." She said, her tail flopping down beside her in dismissal. What a typical story. Some strange cheetah told the adolescent this, and now he acted like he'd be jumping to conclusions. Like there wasn't a ton of lionesses running around the savannah looking exhausted. Kita bet that half the lions still sleeping in the den looked exhausted enough.

Vivu's paw stuck into her side yet again, and this time Kita let out a little, cublike squeak. "Oww." She complained, a little bit louder this time around. Just in case the lion beside her hadn't caught the hint.

"Well, my parents are as good as dead." Kitara piped in, a slight frown on her face. "They stuck around for a little bit, and then ditched me here." She huffed, wishing for a brief moment that they couldn've just died. It would have been so much easier that way...so much less guilt on her part. If they had died...she wouldn't feel so much like she was the reason that they abandoned her. That she was the one they didn't want, the one they couldn't wait to get rid of. They wouldn't have been the first to think that, at least....

"Depends on if it rains or not." Kitara said in a much calmer, almost indifferent voice. Part of her doubted if the buzzard cub had even heard of rain before. "When there's a lot of rain, the grasses turn a greenish color. Otherwise, they just stay that ugly yellow."

Kofi shrugged though he continued to feel his gaze move to the rock below him as they sat upon Pride Rock. "Well I kind of like it, it helps us blend in and stay hidden when we're hunting." He blurted out as they spoke. Maybe these two lions weren't as different as he was, they all lost their parents at a young age. He didn't even know his father at one point. Even if he had a father he wouldn't know where to start looking for him. That meant searching every pride just to find one lion, maybe fate would decide to change it's path and bring him to him. Yeah...that should have happened by now. His tail flicked as he seemed to be a bit lost in thought, though his attention never fully turned away from the young cubs.

Vivu took mental note on the pronunciation of recall, impressive and color. Kita was actually helpful in that regard. But Kita's revelation about the grass brought an astounded look on Vivu's face. So this grass could change colors? He wondered what else it did? Did it grow? Did it talk? Probably not, but then again, stranger things have happened. Vivu couldn't help but realize that they were all orphans, one way or another. Kofi never knew his, Kita's parents seemingly abandoned her, and Vivu's parents... slowly withered away from starvation and dehydration.

"So different... yet so similar..." said aloud the buzzard lion, with reminiscent eyes. He never told anyone how the vultures saved him. They led him to water, they raised him in place of his parents. That degree of kindness was unprecedented in vultures, no matter the outcome. In Vivu's eyes, they were his family. And he promised that, no matter what happened, he would always be one of them.

Vivu looked at both his peers and stated, "we should stick together, a triumvirate" somehow using and pronouncing triumvirate correctly. It was a word his mother used in the desert, describing his family. He missed her so much...

Kitara frowned slightly at Kofi's comment. The way he mentioned how 'it helps us blend in", with the emphasis on the togetherness. The way he looked at Vivu--like he was the one he meant by that, and was just ignoring Kitara altogether. It was almost like he was making fun of the fact that Kita couldn't hunt, or at least not yet.

Kita lightened up a little bit at Vivu's next comment, glad to have something else on her mind. "How so?" She wondered, tilting her head to the side a little bit. She could see how her and Kofi shared something, with both of their parents ditching them, but Vivu's were dead. Was he saying that their parents were dead as well?

We should stick together, a triumvirate

Vivu said, and Kitara eventually nodded her head in agreement. This was the longest she'd talked to anyone her age, and he didn't seem angry at her yet. A record. Sticking together definitely sounded nice at this point. "Sure." She started, "but what's a...tiirumverite--verate-virate---whatever." She stumbled, and this time is was her that mispronounced a word.

Kofi looked back at Vivu not knowing what it Triumvirate meant. However he had noticed that he seemed to have known what the word meant. Since it must have been a great meaning to him. "What she said." Agreeing to her question and spoke softly in return, it was almost a whisper to the others but he still wanted to show that he was paying attention to the two as they spoke.

Ooc: Sorry it's so short, I hit a writer's block but I'm sure it'll pass.

Vivu allowed a small smile to grace his muzzle, feeling like he was the smart one. "A triumvirate..." he repeated so they would know its correct pronunciation, "is a group of three." he stated. It was times like this that made Vivu proud that his mother would use big words around him. He would always remember her lectures about them, which is how he remembered the words so well. Even Vivu found it a little humorous that he could use words like magnanimous, but couldn't pronounce words like hyena properly due to his vulture tongue. 'Hai-ena' he thought to himself, just to prove his point.

It did Vivu's heart good to see that they seemed to be on board with sticking together. From what Vivu could see, Kofi was a recluse, Kitara alienated others due to her attitude, and he just had a bad start at life period. However, if they united, maybe they could help each other overcome their flaws. It wasn't like any of them had parents to go to...

"So, like a trio?"Kitara said, leaning over to give Vivu an annoyed look." Well, why didn't you just say so?" There was no point in him using big words that she couldn't understand, especially if they were vulture words or whatever. The word didn't even sound normal to her, so there was no way that it could have come from another lion. No, definitely a vulture word.

She looked over at Kofi, and then back at Vivu. Could the three of them really make a triumvirate--virate? Whatever he called it. From what she knew, Vivu more or less disliked her--or, at least he had good reason to, after her warm welcome yesterday. At this point, the lioness was surprised that the vulture lion hadn't pushed her off the edge of the rock. As for Kofi--well, she hardly even knew him.

"So what would a triumvirate do, exactly?" She questioned, curious to see as to what she'd gotten herself into this time.

A triumvate? He hadn't heard that word but somehow it made him feel good, perhaps for once people could see him the way he was. Not a shy creature but one of curiousity. He already had a friend that roamed through the Pridelands before, he wondered where he was now. But now a days he seemed to be glad that he was gaining new friends. "As far as I knew the word 'tri' means three. It kind of makes sense now." He added looking back at the others. Though he was a bit curious at what Kitara had asked, what exactly did they do?

"A triumvirate," Vivu took a brief pause to get his sentence structure together, "looks after each other," the mental picture of him with his parents wrapped around his mind."through good and bad, no matter what..." a nostalgia in his accented voice. In the back of his head, he wondered if his whole reason for being here, was to find other lions to fill the void his parents' left.

"We three are lone-lee..." he stated as he turned his head to glance at both of them, "we feel, out of place..." he added, knowing this to be true. "why not be a triumvirate? A trio? A group?" he asked rhetorically, inwardly proud at how his communication skills were improving.

At first, Kitara felt like snapping back with a defensive comment. How could this buzzard lion have any idea as to what she felt like, or whether or not she ever felt alone? How could he just show up and tell her these things, after only meeting her the day before? A slight frown graced her face, although it disappeared fairly quickly.

She had to admit, the idea did sound fairly inviting. She hadn't had another lion willingly offer to look out for her since her parents left. The shamaness had taken a slight interest in her, although it was nothing like having her mom and dad back, or even another friend her age--something she'd never honestly had before.

"I think I would like that." Kitara said in a small voice. Most of the time, her voice was loud. Commanding. Making her opinions heard. This...was different, though. It was almost as if she was afraid...to admit she'd like to have friends, or would like to be part of a group. She'd been pushing away so many for so long...it was hard for her to just say yes.

"I would also." Kofi said managing to speak up after Kitara did. He had noticed all of their personalities were different, including his own. However some how they would make things work. He however felt his gaze fall down to his brown paws realising he was shifting them slightly. As if he was wanting to do something with his new found friends. But most of his thoughts went back to the time when he was with Mwanafunzi, his first friend. Now he had two more. What an overwelming thought it was. Friends?! Him. He had a mental laugh at it at first, but he made sure that he would be loyal to them all. And perhaps one day he'd see Mwuanafunzi again to introduce him to the new friends he made.

Vivu allowed himself to smile, "Then a trio we are." he declared, looking at both of them. The buzzard lion was beginning to feel more and more like a leader. It seemed his father's leadership lived on through him. The image of Abasi formed in Vivu's eyes as he gazed at the sky. The vulture's lesson rang true in Vivu's ears, while death may take those we love away from us, it leaves us with fond memories. Abasi would never grow old and gray, he would always be big, always powerful...

Breaking from his musings, Vivu couldn't resist asking this one question, "want to give ourselves a ti-tel?" butchering the word 'title' in the process. The one thing he learned from the vultures was that all of them had a distinct name, so they could keep track of the sectors in their network. Vivu's venue had one, but obviously it was in the vulture dialect, and translation is difficult. However, the title did involve the Griffon of the Desert.

Kitara looked into the eyes of the lions around her, a hint of a smile hidden in her gaze. She couldn't describe just how good it felt, knowing that there were at least two others in this pride that she knew she could count on. Or, at least that she wanted to count on. However, this also meant that she might have to 'be nice' to both of them...ugh. That wouldn't be fun, for sure. Especially with Vivu and his mildly creepy vultures.

As far as titles went, though, Kitara had no ideas. "Like what?" She asked, staring over at Vivu--trying and failing to figure out what went on in that brain of his...
