"Argh...almost there...oop! Aaah!" Ollie tumbled and landed on the ground with a big thud "Oof!" He grunted and rubbed his head, looking up from the tree branch he had just fallen from. "So much for that idea.." he grumbled aloud to himself, getting back on his feet and continuing on his way. He had tried to reach an African mango but it was far out and the small limb he had been perched on had snapped, sending him head-over-heels downward. His tummy grumbled still and despite that, he went on his merry way. He'd find something to satisfy his hunger soon enough.

Luckily, the day was young. The sun's rays were just starting to peak through the dense forest brush, illuminating only bits and pieces of the forest floor. It amazed him day in and day out how beautiful and mysterious the forest was and he was just grateful to have found it and made it his home.

Though his cheerful disposition began to waver as more time had passed and he had not yet eaten anything. He sunk to the ground with a sigh, sprawling out on his side with a rather apathetic look on his face. "What's a guy got to do around here for some food?" He muttered before letting his eyes slink closed with a frustrated huff.

He really did like it there, but he had yet to really get the hang of the place and make any real friends. Even within the group of cubs and adolescents that were all abandoned or lost or runaways. They had found themselves forming a pride of sorts together in the forest and took in and watched out for each other and anyone else like themselves. Ollie was lucky to have found them finally after being on his own for so long. Still...he strived for something else...something more. Something concrete. Friends, family, belonging. He was determined to have that hole in his heart filled one day.

Mira will still lying on the forest floor as the sun poked into the forest. She was nestled in a small pile of moss, and had formed a makeshift nest with bits and pieces of broken vines and twigs. In fact, it was quite comfortable, and quite well-hidden. So well hidden that the bird couldn't be awakened at the first sign of the sun.

A rustling sound broke her slumber, sending the blue hawk scrambling. For a moment, she dived under a small stack of backup leaves, and after that she insisted on hiding behind a large bush. From what she could see, there weren't any lions around. Lions were scary, with their huge paws and giant teeth. Even being around them sometime made Mira uncomfortable.

To her relief, it was a serval. These she didn't mind nearly as much, even though they were more likely to eat birds than lion. The smaller size put her at ease, at least for a moment or two.

That was all she needed. The goshawk hadn't talked to anyone yet today, and the lonliness was beginning to get to her. It didn't help that she had to worry about who to talk to, and how she talked--one wrong move and she could end up as some feline's snack. Still, this serval felt different, perhaps friendlies. She got the feeling that he wouldn't eat little birds--or, at least she hoped.

"Hi there! I'm Mira." Mira said energetically, bouncing over to the serval. She studied him for a moment, taking in the patterns on his coat. "Nice spots " the bird said, waiting to see if she needed to make a run for it.

It was rare to see the two apart but her sister decided to venture alone. Her name was Imani and she was still quiet young as a lion cub but none the less she acted like every other cub. Though her past with her sister after arriving at the tawi forest was a bit unknown and mysterious. For one, the two had never been on such a long journey that her other sister fell unconsious from earlier. The memories of that day were still in her mind as she shuttered from it. She seemed to be on her own exploring a part of the forest, though she was not far from her sister.
Her name was Imani, her coat was golden with her paws black as coal, though her eyes were blue. The two were almost identical but her sister was a bit smaller than she was, that was the only way they could tell themselves apart when others were nearby. Though it was fun messing with others as they flipped back and forth taking their sister's identities.
Coming through the forest on her own was another story as she went. She was alone but didn't mind it, it was also nice to have that feeling when someone wasn't around constantly. Her sister went on her own way while she went on hers. She heard a few voices speaking to each other out in the distance wondering what was going on. Their smells were definately not of lions but some other species, and there were multiple of them. Curiously she stepped forward to see who was there. Maybe she could have a bit of fun with these other Tawi members, she had only seen a few and didn't know the entire clan. It would be cool, she thought to see the entire clan out together once. Not spread out in the forest.

  • There was quite a lot of activity in the forest this morning. His large ears flicked and turned, buzzing with the hum of insects and the chatter of feathered fliers. Bright red eyes sleepily stared up at the treetops, taking in this new landscape with interest.

Kafele's mind then swapped to other things, more important and urgent matters. Since his arrival, dodging predators and finding safe crossings the whole trip from the mountains, he hadn't caught or stolen a decent meal in days. His stomach growled angrily, frustrated that its owner was neglecting it so. He pouted, a barely audible whine vibrated in his throat.
"I know!" the albino serval yelled at his body, not out loud, "I'm working on it!" Snout to the ground, Kafele started searching for signs of food nearby.

Finally, the smell of something edible hit his nose. He crouched forward...creeping behind the little goshawk in stalking position, with gaping wide jaws.
"Oh...," he said, looking nervously up at the other serval, "Does this belong to you?" Oops. He wasn't going to take this meal, if it was already claimed. Not right in front of the hunter anyways.

When he'd first arrived in the forest, Ollie was on alert at every little noise. It was exhausting physically and emotionally draining as well. He spent many sleepless nights in the trees, wide-eyed and on-edge hoping there was nothing out there looking to eat him. Being a serval only put him at an advantage with the many smaller species that trekked the forest...but there were still plenty of bigger predators to worry about - ones that weren't very privy to talking things out either. Ollie could talk his way out of just about anything so far.

Now, his ears twitched and swiveled only to the sounds of nearby rustling and chatter - the rest he wasn't so concerned about. So it was to his surprise that the ear he wasn't laying on began to twitch, taking in some barely audible noises rather close to him.

He didn't expect to actually be startled by such tiny sounds - generally something that made so little noise didn't bother to approach him, but more often avoided him because of what he was. But, mere moments later his eyes shot open, startled by the little voice before him. He was kind of dumbfounded when his gaze settled upon an itty bitty birdie in front of him, greeting and complimenting him even.

He cocked a brow in confusion. "..Uhh...hi?" He cleared his throat and rolled onto his belly, positioning himself to get a better angle to talk and analyze the situation. "Thanks..." He was still processing what was going on. Why was a baby bird talking to him? Shouldn't she be scrambling away? "You aren't scared of me?" He asked, one ear swiveled back to contribute to his confusion.

Before he had a chance to determine what exactly this bird was doing, he caught sight of something he wasn't even sure he was seeing. Next thing he knew, he was on his feet, standing over the little bird - staring down another like himself, a serval, only he was white and slightly larger than himself. His mind was reeling - so much going on all at once. This was the most excitement he'd encountered since his arrival at the forest - aside from the mishap he'd had with a tiger, who turned out to be not-so-friendly but a bit elderly and slow, much to Ollie's relief.

Though the question the albino serval posed puzzled Ollie and he looked down between his forepaws at the bird, furrowing his brow. "I'm...actually not quite sure who she belongs to...Mira was it?" He returned his gaze to the serval. "But I'd like it if she weren't eaten. Sorry." He gave him an apologetic look. "I'm-" His stomach rumbled loudly and Ollie gave a sheepish grin. "I'm Ollie...and I understand your dilemma. I could use a decent meal myself...we could maybe try and find something...else...together if you'd like? Might have more luck that way."

Ollie was always trying to keep the peace. And he wasn't about to let this serval eat the only other creature to really approach him - especially given how brave she was risking it with a predator such as himself. It was admirable. But he hoped his being honorable wasn't ruining his chance of befriending the only other like himself he'd ever met before.

The big serval finally said, and Mira just looked at him in confusion. Why would she be scared of him? There was no reason, as far as shee could see. "Nope!" She said in her usual, sing-song voice. "You looked nice." She added on, glad that the giant cat hadn't pounced on her. Not that she expected it at all, but knowing felines...they were always so unpredictable.

"What are you doing?" She asked with a birdlike curiosity. She hopped over to Ollie's front two paws, eager to see if there was anything interesting around them. She poked her head around one paw, and then the other, a bit disappointed to find nothing. In fact, she was so intent on scouring the ground that she didn't hear the other serval come sneaking up behind her.

Does this belong to you? He quickly said. Mira jumped up in fright, giving a little squeak. She tumbled back a little bit, scrambling to get underneath Ollie a little bit more.

I'm...actually not quite sure who she belongs to...Mira was it? But I'd like it if she weren't eaten. Sorry.

"Yes." Mira replied with a soft squeak, now clinging onto one of Ollie's legs. "And I would not like to be eaten, either." She added in a young, sweet voice tinged with a wavering determination. She glanced up at the towering cat, still scared to look back into his scary eyes.

She waited in fear for a moment or two, just to be certain that the white demon kitty wasn't going to stare her down with those red eyes of his, or pounce on her if she tried to leave her kitty umbrella.

They talked about hunting something else, finally, and so Mira decided it would be okay for her to come out. She looked around the nearby bushes for a moment or two, her beak opened slightly. To her left, she caught a slight movement in her peripheral vision, and snapped her head over to the side to catch a large bug.

She fluttered back over to the two servals, dropping the bug in between them. "Here you go!" She said happily, with a proud grin. She was glad to have solved the hunger problems between the two--now neither of them would be hunting her!

As she came out further into the forest she could hear voices almost a squeak also. Cocking her head to one side in confusion she wondered what was going on. Her blue eyes watched the small bug that the bird had dropped in front of the serval's feet. Maybe they didn't know that servals and felines ate meat and were carnivores? But then she felt herself suddenly blurt out her thoughts, "Uhhh that's not exactly what we eat. That's what you eat." She pointed out back to the young bird. Though she was smaller than the servals only being a cub. Oh how she wished her sister was here to help back her up in times of troubles.

  • "You name your food?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Sucks to be him," he said to himself, "Doesn't that mean you are attached to it if you name it?"

But I'd like it if she weren't eaten. Sorry.

Mira chimed in also, expressing her preference of not being on the white serval's menu. Hearing both answers, Kafele's entire expression changed. It went from understanding, but confused to skeptical and annoyed.
"Whatever, dude," he scoffed, rising to his feet and turning to leave. Before he could go, Ollie, sounding hungry too, suggested that they find something together. Hunting for food with someone else was not typical behavior for the loner feline. But, it would be quicker and that was more appealing right then. "Sure," Kafele replied with obvious uncertainty, "I guess we could do that." His ruby eyes landed instinctively on Mira again. Food was right in front of his face and he couldn't touch it, making him frustrated.

Another unexpected appearance was made as the lioness cub he hadn't noticed before began talking. She was commenting about something the chick had recently done. The birdling. escaping his attention long enough, had found a beetle for them all to eat.
"How the heck would we all share that anyways?" he laughed, mocking the effort cruelly.
