  • It was late at night, under a sky full of shiny stars. The moon was high and shining bright making her Queen of the sky. Down in the forest, Iocus was trying to find a clearing by walking slowly. his steps made some cracking noise as he moved his heavy body around breaking branches and whatnot. He knew the forest quite well but in the middle of night, it was a bit harder to find his way around.

It took him about half an hour of slow walking before reaching a glade where he could rest. The old lion went on his back looking at constellations partially hidden by trees and their leaves. A soft wind was blowing up there making dancing shadows on the ground. An heavy yawn came from the lion mouth before disappearing into the silence of the forest. Illuminated by the moonlight, Iocus smiled at the sky above before laughing to himself. Every few nights now and then, the old one would do like he did today and think of the past.

Yawning once more, Iocus stood up on his four legs before stretching a bit. He felt very heavy tonight, he felt very old. Older than usual that is. Laughing again about his own age, the one they call the old one lazily tossed himself to on his back once more. What a lovely night it is.

The night sky was twinkling full of stars and Aysel felt a rush of exhilaration. A beautiful night like this could not go un-wasted, and with a small huff of satisfaction she made her way up a small rocky slope to a clearing. Darkness was through the forest, but out here, the stars made it as though the sun himself was shining. After a pause Aysel looked down to the actually clearing.

Green grass covered the area of course and she could make out a few stray wildflowers here and there. And right in the middle of the clearing was a big lump of pale yellow fur, though in the light it almost appeared gray. Then she scented the air realizing it was Iocus. With a small chuckle she padded next to him and sat down.

"Good evening Iocus. What brings you're old bag of bones out?" she joked. However Iocus was definitely the oldest lion she knew. Over 10 years made him the oldest lion in Tawi so far, or so she thought. Laying down to rest her head on her paws she let out a faint yawn, but was determined to stay awake.

  • Iocus didn't even noticed Aysel as she sat down next to him. Her voice woke him from his memories making the old lion smile. He then laughed upon hearing that he was an old bag of bone; being the oldest one around here, it wasn't the first time that he was called old or ancient even. He slowly move his head to face the younger lioness before speaking with his low voice.

"The stars." whispered the lion. "I heard as a young cub that everyone that passes away becomes a tiny lil' star to watch upon us." His tone was so low as if he was trying to blend with the sound of the breeze. "As I grow older, I still want to believe in that." He took a moment of silence to lazily scratch his mane before smiling faintly.

"And why aren't you sleeping yet lil' Aya?" She wasn't the youngest in the Tawi pride but everyone was considered little to him. "Are you having nightmares?" inquired the old one with an hint of concern. After all most of the Tawi pride are homeless per say and most of them either had a dark past or darker memories.

Aysel laughed. "Really? I'd never heard of us passing on as stars." she commented. Her red eyes flashed, as a memory overtook her and she shook her head trying to clear it. Clearing her throat she looked at Iocus. "So, uh, what about...bad animals? Do they watch us from up there to?" Was her mother up there, watching and waiting for a moment to strike in her spirit form?

That would scare her. "Nightmares. No Iocus. I've seen to much horror in the day for anything i see in my sleep to be of any scare." Standing she shook her pelt. A lone cloud passed overhead and Aysel stopped to think. What does become of us when we die? Aysel had always imagined a place full of nothing but happiness. But finding happiness was the problem.

"By the way I must apologize, I think I woke you when I got here." she smiled sheepishly. "I could go fetch something small to eat if you like? I wouldn't mind a little midnight snack, or a good hunt for that matter. And the best part is since the prey's asleep, they'll never suspect a thing." she purred.

  • The old lion looked at the sky for moment before sighing heavily. "Heh, I never thought about this." he admitted slowly while looking at her red eyes. "I guess that you need to be good to be up there." he added before going silent once more. Taking a moment to think before giving up on any kind of explanation, Iocus attention went back to the stars.

Upon hearing that she seen too much horrors, the old one sighed again. He never asked about her past feeling that it might intrude her privacy. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. Signs of hesitation could be seen in his eyes for moment. Maybe he should speak of it later on. Using his claws to scratch himself, Iocus laughed a bit when she apologized.

"Don't be sorry dear," he said with a smile. "An old lion like me sleeps way too much anyway." Iocus rolled his eyes upon saying before laughing a bit. The old one looked once more at the shining moon before standing up on his feet. He felt his old bones grind against each other causing a bit of pain making him grimace.

"A meal would be welcomed." his voice was a bit louder this time. "Actually, I don't think that I've ever hunted with you before Aya. it will be a learning experience." He smiled again before stretching his legs once more. "Pick a direction, my old bones will try to keep up."

Aysel nodded. Good animals were up there. She didn't care where Selene was know, that hardly mattered anymore. Aysel watched Iocus quietly. Clearly he had question of his own, but from what Aysel could tell, he wasn't the type to pry. And for that she was grateful. She couldn't recall having told anyone of her past, and in some way she was happy about that. But in other ways, she almost wished to speak to someone of it. Shrugging it off she smiled.

"Well. Big game will likely be hard to find tonight, but i think we might find a rabbit or two." she suggested. And rabbits slept in holes. She knew a couple of good spots she might find them. "Ok, let's go." bounding off to the east she looked back to Iocus eyes clearly intent. "We haven't hunted together have we? Well, you've probably seen all the hunting methods there are so it won't be new." Laughing she stood on a large boulder overlooking the forest. Her back stripes were more visible now, but these days, she no longer cared that she was a half-breed.

  • Iocus watched Aysel as she made her way on the large boulder. He looked at her white fur and grey stripes as they were reflecting the moonlight giving her that ghost like appearance. The old lion knew that she was a half-breed because of her stripes but it wasn't something he wanted to talk about. One doesn't choose their parents anyway. To him, she was a member of the Tawi Pride; she was member of the Tawi family.

The old one laughed with her as she said that he probably seen all the hunting methods. To be honest, he wasn't much of hunter. Being a male, his job was to protect his pride while the lionesses would hunt for him. He barely hunted even when his pride disbanded. Ever since he joined the Tawi pride, Iocus began hunting warthogs to feed himself. It wasn't the easier animal to catch but one warthog was good for few meals.

"Rabbits sounds good." he said before climbing the boulder. He took a moment of silence to look at the younger lioness and saw her scar on her face an ear. He saw them before but never really asked about them. Perhaps tonight would be a good time to ask. "Tell me Aya," he begun with hesitation. "May I ask you about that scar on your ear?"

She looked down on Iocus with a smile before leaping down. Her eyes were a bit distant as she spoke, and her voice was nothing more than a ghostly whisper. "Most scars you see on me were from Selene. She hated me i guess, though i never truly understood why. I'd never done anything to her personally. Except ruin her life i guess." Aysel laughed. "Selene was a beautiful lioness. Creamy fur with brilliant blue eyes." she went silent a moment. "Selene was my mother." Aysel said at last.

The mist over her eyes faded and she turned back to Iocus. "Sorry. You didn't ask for details." smiling she padded forward softly. "Anyways. The ear and face scars were from a night when i'd ran away. When she found me, this happened." Aysel laughed in an almost bell-like voice. "I look at them as a gift and curse sometimes. While others see it as ugly, i see it as beautiful. Just because one's looks appear frightening doesn't mean they are, right?" She stopped talking now, flicking her ears.

"I'll shut up about that now.See the hole there?" Aysel asked, nodded to a hole towards her left. Peeking through the underbrush she grinned. "Chances are the entrance is under that tree there. So, i'll go over there and i want you to wait at the hole here. I think you'll catch on to what i'm about to do." she purred, eyes glittering. "Can you handle it?"

  • The old lion remained silent, carefully listening to Aysel. Iocus never heard of her past before as she mentioned the name of her mother. He first thought that Selene was a rival or such; the lion lowered his head upon hearing that she was actually her mother. He had a hard time understand why one hurt their own flesh and blood like this. When he was younger, Iocus never had much trouble with his family. He was pretty lucky in that sense.

He wanted to say something to cheer her up but couldn't find anything good. "No need to be sorry." said the lion smiling back at her. "Every scars is a story to tell I guess. I'm happy that you took time to share some of your tales with me." He took a moment before answering Aysel question about looking frightening on the outside. He laughed seeing that he was mostly scars and old wounds. "Eh, you are wise lil' Aya. Maybe wiser than me."

He was about to speak once more when she told him her plan. It was simple one but simplicity might be the key here. Moving his heavy body around, Iocus nodded before getting in position near the hole. He was ready to bounce hoping that he would be fast enough. "I'm ready when you are Aya."

Aysel shrugged. "Well, i've never really been asked, though i'm glad you did. It feels good to let someone know." Shaking her pelt once again, she looked around then chuckled. "Now dear Iocus, i doubt i could be wiser than you. You own 10 years or better on me. However, i thank you for the complement."

Preparing herself she padded around, locating the hole beneath the tree. But not without difficulty. She had to scent it out, vines and leaves masked over it. Moving it out of the way she grinned before taking a deep breath. A ferocious roar escaped her jowls and she could just hear the sound of two rabbits squeak before the sound of paws running.

Aysel also ran to the other side to help Iocus. A good idea too, as one brown rabbit veered to the left unsuspecting of Aysel waiting. He practically jumped into her paws before she reached forward to bite it's jowls.

OOC- sorry for being gone a while. Being a Senior leaves me little time for fun -__-

  • The old lion rolled his one good eye before laughing softly upon hearing that he was around ten years older than she is. he was quite proud that he survives all these years without becoming crazy or cranky. Sure, it made him less agile and less strong but that's a rather small price to pay seeing that in the end, he's alive. "Oh Aya," whispered Icous. "Age isn't everything dear. You'll see when you get older."

He then turned his attention to the rabbit hole. His old ears barely heard the squeaking after Aysel roared fiercely. His eye saw the first rabbit going left but he wasn't fast enough to catch it., Luckily, the lioness was more than ready. Turning his head back to the rabbit hole, Iocus saw the other bunny jumping out of it. Using his large body to block the way, the old one opening his mouth going for the kill.

He simply bit the neck of the poor rabbit, slowly choking it with his powerful jaw muscles. He kept his grip for moment as the rabbit tried to escape. It only took a moment for it to die. Icous held his new meal in the air as he turned his face toward Aysel. A smile could be seen as he dropped the corpse on the ground.

"Nicely done Aya. You might not be wiser than I but you are certainly a better huntress than I am." He took a moment to celebrate their successful with a small roar before going to open his meal with a giggle. "Yummy."

[OOC - It's all good.]

Aysel laughed with a smile before biting into the rabbit. The meat was soft and tender. Obviously the rabbits weren't yet adult age. She picked apart the meat carefully then pushed the bones aside for the time being so she could enjoy the meal. Looking up to Iocus she chuckled. "Yummy huh? Sure you're still not an adolescent at heart?" she purred.

Once finished she dug a small hole and put the bones in it, covering it up. A belch escaped her lips and she looked away sheepishly. "My apologies." Giving a long stretch she sat down to groom her face and paws clean of blood for a few moment. "So, mind if i ask what you're story is Iocus? How'd you come to be in the Tawi pride?"
