She laughed at his response, glad to see that he saw the humor in her voice. Little did he know that sometimes lionesses did bring her things, much to her resistance. Her mother would claim that it was good for the pride to give back, but Alyeska really didn't see why they could just go out and get their own meal. It wasn't too difficult, at least to her. She'd pulled it off a couple of times before, but not without help.

Another gust of wind pushed his hair into his eyes, and Alyeska could see the adolescent make a hilarious face as he angrily blew away the stray hairs. "What is up with your hair?" She asked. "It's all like...this." She said, placing a paw up by her head and waving it around madly like his hair had been just a minute ago.

Alyeska looked at the lion with a curious look, attempting to imagine the Pridelands as a free place. "It would...but don't you think there might be a lot of fighting? With everyone fending for themselves, and all." She was sure that he meant every lion would be alone and separate from any larger group. She couldn't quite picture a life without her second family, or any sort of community. It all sounded so lonely to her.

"Maybe I will. What about you, tresspasser? You've got a name, too, I presume?" She asked, glancing back over at Kuruka.

Kuruka eyed her, again with raised eyebrows, as she mimicked his hair. 'Yeah, it's worse here. What with the wind and all. Where I live, it's not much of a problem.' They were almost at the boulder now. It seems unlikely he'd be able to catch anything for his cubs. He hoped some of the other adolescents had been more successful. They probably didn't have a stranger tailing them either.

'A lot more fighting occurs when it's not free land,' he said, eyes scanning across the horizon. 'Trust me. I've seen it. You might be living in peaceful times now, but it won't last forever.' He finished flatly. He didn't like to tell doom and gloom to one so happy, but it was the truth. Best hear it from a 'trespasser' than not at all, he supposed. He flicked his bad ear towards her, showing her the large bite marks that had left it disfigured forever.

'I sure do have a name, lady. They call me Big Brother where I come from. But I don't think you'd want to call me that.'

"Oh, really?" She asked, her voice raising an octave at the end. "So where is this place you talk of? Beneath a rock, or what?" She said, imaging the brown cub crawling underneath a small ledge. As far as she knew, there was a lot of winds in this area, and they generally stayed that way. Even in the rainy seasons, it was always a constant.

"Well, yeah. Of course. Nothing lasts forever, right?" She said, a bit of perk still lingering in her voice. She hesitated to think about what this meant for her, even though it was true. She wouldn't be here forever, after all.

"And what happened to your ear? Run into a rhino or something?" She asked lightheartedly, even though she knew his answer couldn't be that easy. From what she could tell, his ear had been ripped multiple times.

" I agree, and I don't think I would even call you that, either." She said, replying to his comment about his name. "It's waaay too long for a name, I must say. Too many b's. That, and you're not my older brother." She laughed.

'Even beneath a rock would have more wind than where I live. Have you heard of the Tawi Forest?' Kuruka's eyes lit up as he mentioned the name like it always does. He was immensely proud of his home. The little family that he started amongst the shadows of the trees. 'Nothing lasts forever, but the land does. The trees does.'

The male stepped up onto the boulder that marked the borders. They had finally reached it. The sky was beginning to deepen to a purple tinge. 'Right there, see?' the male gestured with his head towards the far line of trees in the same motion that made his fringe unstick from his eyes, creating rather an over-dramatic movement. 'I got the cut from another lion. Never thought to cross a rhino though. I'd have more ripped off than just my ears.'

The male laughed at her comment about his nickname. 'Too many Bs! That's a first. Never bothered me, since I certainly don't call myself Big Brother. And what do they call you here? Chatty? Miss Bubbly? The Annoying One?' He grinned at her, seeing what it exactly takes to get this lioness frustrated.

"No, I haven't heard of it before. What's the Tawi?" She asked, then glanced back over at the border they were practically crossing. "Oh, I didn't know that this forest had a name! I always just called it 'that forest place.'" Alyeska considered adding in that she'd never been in that forest, but that didn't seem to be a good idea at the moment.

"It just regenerates...over and over." She said after Kuruka's forever comment. "You're write. The land goes on." A slight sigh. Behind her, a purple tinted sunset streaked across the sky, coloring the atmosphere of the area a bluish-purple.

"And that's not a cool story." Alyeska said, once again briefly examining Kuruka's shredded ear. "I was expecting something much more dramatic than that. Like, how you fought off 10 lions at once." She shrugged, knowing that a lot of lions her age did like to
"Well...." She started, attempting to build a brief anticipation in Kuruka. She doubted it would work.

"Well, sometimes they call me Pri--" She cut herself off, then regathered her thoughts with another carefree laugh. There was no way she could tell Kuruka that she was a princess, especially since he'd just finished complaining about the Pridelands.
"Pretty annoying, you know. Like you said, I am a bit 'chatty' or 'bubbly,' but they also tell me that I'm the 'annoying one', so no big surprise there!"

'And somehow I'm not surprised that you've never heard of the Tawi Forest,' he said. 'But don't worry, the Prideland King and Queen knows. We are not here to take over your precious lands, Miss Bubbly,' he said.

The male jumped off the rock, entering freeland. 'I can show you,' he said, turning around to look at her. The light would fade soon and there would be little chance of making a successful kill. 'That is if you've got nothing better to do. It's not far.'

Kuruka looked at the treeline, then back to her again. 'But I can't gurantee that you'd be able to keep your pretty fur clean and tidy,' he said, flicking his ears in amusement. 'No servants to groom you and all.'

Well, I knew there was a forest there." She said, a tiny bit defensive. "I just didn't know it was called Tawi. Who named it that, anyways? You?" She laughed, oblivious to just how close to the truth she'd come.

"So how did you tell them that? The King and Queen, I mean." Alyeska asked, trying to picture her parents' faces when the found out there was another pride in such close proximity to their lands. "They must have taken it well, considering you're still in one piece." She guessed.

"Well...if it's not to far, then I guess I can go." Alyeska finally said after a moment of hesitation. "Gotta get back before too late, though. Wouldn't want a search party running through your forest, would you?" She said, sidestepping the rock Kuruka had been standing on. The young lioness paused at the border, giving once quick glance back at the Pridelands before entering the free land.

"You think I'd want to keep my fur this tidy?" Alyeska asked, glancing down at her perfectly clean legs. A few dirt patches clung to paws, but that was about it. The rest of her was surprisingly clean. Well, at least for now. She didn't know how long that would last. She could just imagine herself falling into a mud puddle, or even better--Kuruka falling into a mud puddle.

A smile crossed her face immediately after the thought. This was going to be fun.

Kuruka looked at her, a surprised yet amused look on his face. 'Yes in fact, I did name it,' the male said, striding forward. 'It's quite catchy, wouldn't you agree? A brilliant mind coming up with brilliant names. And glad that you noticed that I'm still in one piece. So much for my 'trespassing' ways, eh?'

The brown male caught her looking wistfully back at Pride Rock. 'Everything ok?' he asked, glancing back at the rock too. It was such an odd structure in the middle of the plains. It was splendid and always takes his breath away every time he was near it. 'I mean, you won't get thaat dirty. You are always just a few kilometres away from a good bath,' he said, jokingly. Kuruka knew it had to be something more, but nothing like a light-hearted laugh to sooth the nerves.

ooc: i'm skipping some questions you wrote in your post. I feel like we're having four conversations in one post all the time hahahhaaa

"Your brilliance is astounding." Alyeska said in a flatter voice, accompanied by an eye roll. This guy sure was a bit full of himself, wasn't he? She couldn't help but admire it a little, though. So many lions always seemed so pessimistic all of the time, and never took credit when they had a good idea.

"Yeah, well, that's just because you were lucky enough to find me on a bad day. I bet if you ran into me any other time, you'd be in more than one piece!" She laughed, completely un-serious. There was no way she could take on a trespasser, much less this lion.

"Pffft, who needs a good bath?" Alyeska laughed after an initial hesitation. She leaped across the border, ready to (briefly) leave the Pridelands behind. However, she knew she couldn't take that long...if she wasn't back before too late, her parents would start to go all psyco on her and send out everyone to look for her.

"Let's goooo!" She said eagerly, bouncing forward. She stopped behind Kuruka, though, not quite brave enough to go ahead of him. It was best to let the experts do this sort of thing...

Kuruka tilted his head like one would tip a hat. 'Thank you, lady,' he said in regard to her comment about his brilliance. He lifted his head just in time to see her eye roll and gave a chuckle.

The male saw that she was a bit hesitant in leaving the Pridelands despite her eager words. He walked forward, leading the way. 'Come then,' he said, 'If you want to make it back home before it's too late, we have to go there quicker.'

Kuruka sprang forward in a half-hearted run, seeing if she would follow or continue to linger around the boulders.

When he took a step forward, so did she. His words were like a blur to her, a foreign blur. She'd never had someone ask her leave the Pridelands like this, if only for a little while. She'd never felt this...freedom, she could say. Like she finally had a choice as to whether or not she could cross this boundary, or go into 'forbidden' area if she pleased. It was a lot to take in for the adolescent. She wasn't sure if she liked this feeling or not...

"Okay." She said at first in agreement, although her legs wouldn't work at first. She couldn't quite make the plunge into the unknown without a bit of reassurance--thankfully, it came in not Kuruka's words--but his actions. The simple act of him jumping ahead gave the lioness the strength to jump after him, even though a feeling of half-freedom, half-guilt lingered inside.

"So where are we headed first?' She asked after the first few moments of running.

Kuruka gave her a reassuring smile. He wondered why she was so conflicted. What was the big deal in leaving the Pridelands? Perhaps there were more to this Pridelander than meets the eye. Perhaps. He still thought she was spoilt, although there had been no evidence to suggest it so far. There was just something about lions who came from big prides - they won't particularly right in the head.

The male increased his speed. That's better, the wind brushing his hair out of his eyes.

'Towards those trees,' he said, gesturing with his head. They were still quite far from the Tawi forest, its trees only specs in the far distance. They ran for another five minutes. He tilted his head to look at his companion. 'How do you feel? Homesick yet?'

Alyeska increased her stride as the adolescent went faster, letting her limbs reach out as far as they would go. It felt good, to fun this far and this fast. She figured this must be what it felt like to hunt. The thrill of the chase. She couldn't say that she'd ever experienced that, either, as the princess had yet to receive her 'hunter training' from one of the older lionesses. Then again, if she asked...her parents would most likely refuse, as they--or at least her mother--considered herself slightly above hunting and expected her daughter to be the same.

"What do you mean, those trees?" Alyeska asked, almost a yell as they ran. "There's like 300 of them there!" How could she possibly know which ones to run to? The adolescent let herself fall a step or two behind Kuruka, still allowing him to lead the way.

"Me, homesick? No way!" Alyeska said, straightening up. She resisted the strong urge to glance behind her shoulder, to look for reassurance in the familiar Pride Rock. She knew if she looked again, it would seem as if she really was homesick, as if she did want to go back.

Kuruka ran on, feeling the wind brushing through his growing mane. This was one of his favourite feelings. To let loose, eating up the distance to his destination. A smile touched his maw and he glanced back at the lioness again. There was a sense of uncertainty in her. He guessed that she must be very close to her homeland. Could her hesitation mean that she has never left the Pridelands before?

They ran on, until the trees loomed tall in front of them. Kuruka slowed down, heaving to catch his breath back. They had been speeding across the savannah for approximately half an hour. The sky was a deep shade of purple.

'These trees - ' the male said, in between breaths, ' - are the beginning - of the Tawi territory.' He moved forward. They had halted around 100 metres from the forest, allowing the female to take in the frontier of the trees. 'Still game?'

Alyeska gladly slowed down with Kuruka, her chest rising and falling as she attempted to regulate her breathing. She wasn' built for stamina, to say the least. Well, a little moreso than speed, but still..running for this long was quite a challenge for her.

She glanced up in awe at the nearby trees--almost silhouettes against the dark purple sky. There was still enough light to see reasonably well, although light didn't have much of a factor in her vision. The lioness. being partially nocturnal, could see equally as well in the dark as the light.

"Wow." She managed to breathe out on an exhale. "There's so many of them." The lioness paused, stretching up onto her tip toes in an attempt to get a better look at the territory. They were far enough away that she could see some of the bulk of the forest, but not nearly enough to tell how wide it spread.

"The trees, I mean." She clarified, not wanting to sound as if there were multiple Tawi forests. The princess hadn't ever seen so many trees...so close together.

"And yes...you can bet that I'm still game." She said, craning her neck forward slightly to peer into the openings between the trees.
