Strands of light pierced the darkness of the cave, illuminating the exposed stone and banishing any remaining shades. Outside, the sun clipped the horizon, bathing the grasslands in a sea of light. The dawn chorus began with the sounds of birds and animals awakening, then, in the depths of the cave, a loud yawn like roar erupted. Green eyes fluttered tiresomely as large paws walked awkwardly towards the mouth of the cave. Kuime yawned once more as he was suddenly blinded by the golden light ahead. Grumbling, the male shook his mane and slowly made his way down the sloping stones towards the main cave. He stretched, feeling relief as several bones popped and cracked, loosing the cramps in his joints. Kuime entered the cave, careful not to stand on the odd tail or two. Once past the still sleeping lumps, Kuime’s gaze fell up on the lumbering forms of two cubs huddled near the far corner. Two months ago, Fili, the female who had found him a year ago, had past away recently after coming down with a terrible illness. Her two cubs, Ahi and Kanu, had been left orphaned after that and though the pridesisters had tried to care for the cubs, neither had wished to be around anyone other than Kuime, who had been there when the pair had been born. And so Kuime took them in, though he himself was still getting use to having the pair follow him around constantly. He softly nudged Ahi, the light brown furred male, who mewed in protest and rolled onto his sister Kanu, who began wiggling beneath her brother frantically. Smiling, he gently picked Ahi up and placed him beside his sister. The little female stopped fidgeting and calmed momentarily before fully awaking, her brother soon following after. They began to play, but Kuime chuffed softly to them, signalling for them to follow him. He weaved in and around the lionesses before sitting in the shade of a overhanging boulder and watched as the cubs tackled one another. Inside the den, he could others waking up, though paid no heed as he little contact with them. |

Ooc: May I join in? I'm going to bring in Kofi. Bic: Another day had been brought to him as the sun poked through the cloud filled skill of last night. The stars had disappeared, not see able to the Prideland members as they stayed awake on their patrols or were simply awake and couldn't go to sleep. Kofi opened a pale blue eye as he looked up at the horizon grumbling softly in his half consious. Wanting the sun to disappear again so he could go back to sleep. He was one of the older member of the cubs starting to learn how to take responsibilities for himself. Today he had to do a patrol around the border of were it was closely linked to the Outlands. He had heard many tales that originated there, many of which had sent a shiver down his spine. It made him even less enthusiastic to go that way on his patrol. Sighing he stretched remembering the King's orders and began to stand after he felt his muscles move abit. All aching urging him to go back into that wonderful sleep. He looked around, seeing that very few lions were awake yet, but he spotted two other cubs and another adult lion resting near them. Assuming they were family members, he did not intervine or bother them. His thoughts however went to his two friends Kitara and Vivu, wondering how they were doing. They had formed a trio named Ku-tu which was short for a swahili term that meant "Three destiny." He would have to find them later if he wanted to go do something with them. He was sure the others were still asleep or Vivu was out with his vulture family. So he shrugged, he knew his first priority was to patrol the outland border. How fun would that be. 'Let's get this over with.' He thought to himself as he began to head down the rocks that lead to the savannah of the Pridelands. |
