He was separated from most of his senses - that was brutally obvious, the herbs, which has touched his chin he didn't even feel. The cub couldn't even hear Soto's voice - it was like a blur in the mist, not to be recognized. However, he began sniffing, smelling something his exhausted brain depicted as food. Although he did finally move his head a little bit to help him consume the medicine, it was more of an automatic reaction he didn't have any influence on. His organism, in this case, knew better than him what was good for it. He began to chew them as an afterthought, not being able to discern their flavour or discover those were only leaves.

It felt like a golden rain over the plain desert, bringing all the living beings back to life. The herbs were mercifully covered in Sioux's spittle, helping him devour the medicine she has prepared for him. The leaves contained water on their own, too - every bite of them was a struggle, but his brain knew it was an effort worth taking more than anything else. Just like his saviour, his mouth and throat were squeezed by the thirst, but the leaves has taken care of that. Faster than both of them would recon him to do it, he has consumed all of them. Daimu started to gasp. Predictably, he was exhausted by his meal, and even his ears has stopped to move.

The night began to descent over them, bringing relief with the first whiffs of colder, yet still dry air. It was difficult to breathe, but it helped in regaining energy after the chase - something both Soto and Daimu needed the most, just after water and something to eat. The little one, however, wouldn't even make it to the oasis on his own, and he still needed a proper meal, not having eaten anything for a few days. They could see his body starving, but, over time, his breath has calmed down, and a tiny bit of peace has raised his eyebrows.

El Dorado was looking for Sioux. The night before he had had a dream, and he been meaning to discuss it with Sioux, but he hadn't had the opportunity to all day until now. He had finally spotted the leopard, but no sooner had he seen her in the distance that he saw her rush out into the desert. Dorado kept on walking. He thought it a bit odd, but he figured that Sioux just spotted a rare herb in the desert and ran off to collect it. He didn't know much about herbs and healing, but he had heard once or twice the best ones were the most rare. As far as Dorado knew, if there were some nice leafy greens that could survive in the desert then they must be worth finding.

However, soon enough, Dorado heard a distant and faint cry for help. He had a hard time figuring out where it came from, but when he figured it out he realized it came from the same direction Sioux was running towards. She wasn't rushing to find rare herbs; she was rushing to go help. That made much more sense to the cheetah, and he quickened his pace to find those who needed assistance.

As he entered the desert, he followed the leopard's trail. He broke into a full sprint, hopping he didn't arrive too late if there was any danger or threat. Soon, he spotted Sioux once more with a couple of others. "Sioux!" he called out between breaths. "What's going on?!" As he got closer, he slowed down, and he came to a halt next to the group. "Sioux...I heard a yell...came to help," he said while trying to catch his breath. Then he noticed the others were a lion cub and adolescent. "Oh...there's children," he said when he realized that fact.

He looked around. The cub looked to be on the brink of death and the adolescent didn't look too well either. Dorado saw that Sioux was already treating the cub with some herbs. He nodded, pleased with her action. However, there seemed to be a bit of residual tension, and he looked around trying to find what its cause was. He didn't find anything. "I missed something important, didn't I?" he asked rhetorically, disappointed that he was late. The cheetah turned to face the leopard and the lions. "No matter. As long as everyone is alright, then that is good." Dorado then turned his attention to the lions. "I see you have met Sioux," and he motioned his head towards the leopard. "She is a great Shaman and a good friend." He then turned back to Sioux, "Great job, by the way with these two and...whatever happened here." Once more, he faced the young lions, smiling. "Now, my name is El Dorado, and I am here to offer any assistance I can."

Sometimes it is hard to put beliefs aside. It is always harder to act against them. So many questions, emotions and barriers - still no answer, no matter the call. The wall which has separated the little cub from conscience was finally broken by the passing time. It was no longer acting against him. It was Daimu, who acted against his own self, when trying to wake up. He had only just enough strength to get up and sit. Whatever has happened with him for the last hour remained secret to his exhausted mind, as it was to his heart. The cub softly and calmly raised a paw to chafe his cheek, while his tired, green eyes tried to recognise those who were surrounding him. There was Soto... and there's a leopardess, with a cheetah standing near her and gazing at him with a smile. "Who are you?" He asked faintly, desperately trying to remember what is going on. "What's happened?" Another question followed, as well as a short sigh. Pain has found a safe and comfortable place within his body, making it hard for him to move. "Uh... My head..."
The cub didn't look happy at all, even if it probably should be.

Soto felt his senses try to focus together, trying to synchronize and coordinate, but they were obviously failing. The world spun and the savannah noises were muddled into one massive headache. He wished the mysterious leopardess would say something to give him something to hold onto. He barely caught her slight gesture with her tail, pointing towards the lush grasses. She did not say a word, but kept motioning with her spotted tail. Utterly disorientated, Soto could not respond to the feline's direction, only stand like a daff hippo. The young lion wanted to trudge towards the promised source of water, but he could not move. Something was holding his sore paws to the ground. Maybe it was the comforting presence of another African cat or the young cub at his dirty paws, Soto could not move. He merely gave a numb nod of his head, showing he understood and waited for the leopardess to finish her inspection.

Suddenly a loud Sioux! made the young lion jump in his skin. From the sharp sound, Soto's surroundings became sharper. Immediately, his claws flexed out and his dusty fur spiked up. His yellowing teeth revealed themselves from under his lips. On cue, a male cheetah rushed up the slope, breathing heavily. His lithe muscles flexed under his spotted pelt and they showed of the luxury that was hidden in the hills. Even with his larger size and species bonus, Soto was not sure he would size up to the new male. "Sioux," the cheetah panted, "I heard a yell...came to help." Then his dark eyes scanned skinny Soto and the starving cub. "Oh...there's children." At this statement, Soto's grimace grew larger.

The young lion relaxed to the fact that the cheetah meant no harm, and he knew the leopardess, named Sioux. He listened with a scowl the male go on like the situation was some diplomatic meeting. Almost immediately, Soto picked up his status, Pride Leader. Neither acknowledging nor ignoring the cheetah's authority, the dusty adolescent spoke up to El Dorado.

Starting with a deliberate cough and tilting his head slightly, Soto said, "I don't think we're children, sir. I'm sure both of us have surpassed a child's innocence. I found him passed out in the desert and then we were chased by painted wild dogs. Don't we get some experience points for that?" He then looked down to the cub who was murmuring almost incoherent questions. "S'all right, kid. Mr. Dorado and Ms. Sioux are gonna' take care of you." Soto bent down and softly nudged the cub's body, then flicked his eyes Sioux, "And, uh...could you show me again where that water was?"

Dorado chuckled a bit at the older lion's reaction to being called a child. "My mistake," he said, bowing his head. "I shouldn't have presumed that. 'Child' is such a vague term. There are some adults who are more childish than some young ones. Forgive me." Dorado turned more serious at the mention of the dogs. "The dogs, though, that's very odd. I don't recall there being many dogs in this area." He looked over towards Sioux, and he determined that he should inquire more about this incident with the dogs later. For now, there were the young lions to care for. He smiled again at the older lion. "Still, standing up to them is quite an achievement for worn out travelers like yourselves. Experience points indeed."

It was then that young lion managed to make his way to his feet and look around in a state of mild delirium and pain. He saw the older lion attempt to comfort the cub a bit before turning to Sioux to inquire about water. While he did that, Dorado made sure that the cub was alright. "Watch yourself," Dorado said quietly and calmly to the cub, "Steady. Don't stress yourself too much. The Desert almost claimed you as one of her own. This good lion here and Sioux helped save you from that fate. I'm El Dorado. I'm here to help you. You're weak, but with some water and food a little help from Sioux, I'm sure you will get fully recovered. Tell me, what's your name?"

Dorado smiled and did his best to sound friendly and welcoming to the lion cub. The cub didn't look happy, but that was to be expected. He had no idea what the cub had gone through while wandering the desert. It can be quite traumatic for the unprepared. He knew that for a lion cub to wandering on his own through such a landscape, something more must have happened to him. The same goes for the adolescent. Both seemed weak, but the cub was in the most critical state from Dorado's perspective. He could tell right now that recovery for the cub would be more than just a physical process. As he had said, Dorado was there to help no matter how long it would take for them to recover. Even though he is not a healer like Sioux, he'd do all in his power to make sure these lions made to the Valley and to safety to recover from their trials in the Desert.

The little cub frowned in return. It was clearly rather confused after hearing so many incomprehensible words - and that's exactly what could be read after his behaviour. He just gazed enquiringly at the cats surrounding him. Their words didn't clear anything, at least for a moment. After few more seconds, Daimu started to remember, even if he still looked rather puzzled. There were so many questions, yet so little answers. As a result, it has taken a while for him to understand Dorado's words. He raised his gaze, having failed to hide his confusion behind the green eyes.

"Daimu." He replied, trying to get up. The medicine prepared by Sioux, as it seems, was slowly beginning to work, helping the cub regain strength the Desert has stripped him of. He was still miserably weak, but he was conscious... and terribly embarassed. Obviously, he realised it was him who's turned being the troublemaker. As if it weren't enough, he didn't look impressive at all - he was now only a shadow of his former self. The cub was terribly uncared for. "Sorry... for everything." Even if it was barely a whisper, it was full of embarassment and sense of guilt.

His tail tried to comfort its owner by surrounding his skinny paws. Nonetheless, his fluffy ears still shrank back. "I... uh... I got lost." The cub stuttered quietly. The herbs were strong, but they weren't enough for him to stay up for long. As Soto, he desperately needed a square meal and some water to survive. Daimu was acting exactly like if he didn't realise what's wrong with him at all. As a young, confused cub he wasn't aware of the seriousness of the whole situation, unlike the other cats. He did realise, however, it was getting cold. Daimu shied at the unpleasant touch of the wind, so different from Soto's warmth.
