general information

  • NAME: Leto.
    NICKNAME: -
    GENDER: Male.
    SPECIES: West African lion.
    RANKING: Rogue.
    AGE: Young Adult.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Ruggedly handsome, Leto wears a sarcastic half-smile and affects an air of casual indifference, his chin has the workings of a beard with a small beatnik and irregular stubble coating his jaw line. An unkempt orange/tan coat made dull from dust and dirt, the fact that he carries the appearance of a vagabond reflects his lifestyle on the road; as he's almost constantly on the move. His equally messy mane is dull brown and but streaked along the chest with darker strands of black hair, also his messy, worn look makes him come off as older than he really is, so it's not uncommon for others to think that he's as much as 5 years his senior.

He looks quite skinny, and doesn't seem to sport that much muscle, causing him to look slightly malnourished. Some distinguishing features he has is the various scars that mar his coat; a testimony to a harsh life. This slim, slightly bony appearance makes him come off as quite frail, coupled with the dark circles around his vivid pale ice-blue eyes intensified by black scleras' enforce the almost sickly look he bears. He’s also rather short of stature so his height is a noticeable feature; he’s not much taller than your average lioness.

  • PERSONALITY: Free-spirited, maverick, and fiercely independent he gets restless if stuck in one place for too long. Leto on the surface comes off as a generally carefree person with an overlying aura of casual indifference but coupled with an uncharacteristically stoic demeanor, despite his hard shell he does have a soft indeed even caring side; this is especially visible when it comes to the protection of those few he cares about, however it's rare he lets anyone see these softer sides of him on top of it all he isn’t really a social butterfly.

However he’s a rather ruthless individual lacking compassion for the weak and destitute, the rogue’s also a philosophical individual, but with a noticeable feral streak to him. He places great personal empathize on the act of hunting; the chase, capture and kill.

But overall he’s a cynical, blunt and more than often sarcastic individual who’s not afraid to state his opinions even it comes off as potentially hurtful or even downright offensive to an opposing party he has little regard for authority no matter the form it takes, the rules of law, and much less to follow orders (something he hates) even if he can on very rare occasions act respectful enough to those he deem has deserved it, or at least, those that demand it at claw point.

He is deep down beyond his shield of disregard; a highly social and generally quite friendly person at least to those that have earned his trust or those he ends up liking for some reason or another, though he’s extremely wary in the presence of strangers and gaining his trust takes a lot of work. Being a mute he is unable to talk in any shape or form beyond the odd noises like chuffs or weak growls, it’s no surprise that his already limited social nature suffers, making him come off as socially awkward a majority of the times.

He’s morally ambiguous at best, keeping loyalties as long as it’s personally beneficial for him this fleeting loyalty also shows when it comes to forming friendships; Leto finds the whole openness and general trust that is expected among friends a difficult concept to grasp so it’s very rare he’d actually go to the lengths of calling much of anyone a friend preferring to keep mere acquaintances.

The young lion favors and values the virtues of the self: self-awareness, self-reliance and self-confidence, often tying philosophical contemplation into his personal ideas about his role through the treathcerous road of life, specifically what it means to be a hunter.

He oppose pridal society preferring to rely on his own skills and expertise to provide him food, shelter, and anything else a lion would need to thrive; even if this means stealing, or killing for it. Leto follows the brutal and savage rules of Nature, she is his mistress, his only queen and liege... nothing is ever free.

RELATIVES: Tarajii – Mother – Deceased, Daijiro - Father – Deceased.

HISTORY: Leto was born to a pair of rogues, his mother died shortly after his birth, and thus was raised by his father whom like himself was mute; he has never known the security of pridal life, much less how to really interact with others when his only company was his father. The only times he had heard spoken words or how to interact with others was when watching prides in secret; though his father was quite adamant in teaching his son to stay away from prides. And Leto one day learned the reason behind his father’s caution and suspicion of other lions, the lesson was hammered home in a most brutal of fashion.

Being just barely a teenager with the remnants of his mane starting to show Leto and his father had a bad run in with a pride, Leto’s third successful hunt nearly had them both killed when the young zebra they were chasing strayed into claimed territory, Neither rogues sensed the fact that they had just trespassed onto owned land, until the animal was brought down and they were about to start their feast when three adult lions showed up demanding to know their purpose; unfortunately either Leto nor his father were in any way capable of providing the males with any satisfactory answers.

Leto’s father gestured for his son to run, while he’d provide a distraction for the increasingly aggressive male lions. Not arguing with his father’s wishes Leto ran for it, supposing that his father was not far behind. But even as he was well out of the territory, he waited for several days but his father never showed up. Grieved with the increasingly clear fact that his parent was gone, nature however gave him little respite to grieve he had to keep moving.

It's been almost a year since this incident but even so the loss of his parent and the kick in the stomach nature has given him caused young lion to grow up. Despite being just a teenager at the time of the incident, and thus in the eyes of many pretty much a child, he started acting with the resolve, cleverness, if not ruthlessness one would expect of an adult.

This has served him well in his new life alone.

Dusk had drawn into the early eons of night the twinkling of stars could be seen in the moonless heavens blurred only by the scatter of wispy clouds dancing on the breeze, the night forest was alive with the buzzing of nocturnal insects and animal life big and small, places like these never slept and the noise was quite a difference to the calming silence of the ocean depths. Quiet, almost inaudible steps could be made out from a clearing in the thick forest, marked by a single dead tree most obviously a landmark or crossing point. However the pacing creature striding back and forth had almost created a shallow ditch in the earth his steps visibly impatient. The animal or acherra as it were covered in markings that seemed almost generate their own light piercing the darkness around them, nearly mirroring the stars above him.

‘Where are they?!’ he cursed under his breath, with dark brows furrowed over ice blue eyes scanning the vast expanse of forest and ears trained on any sound, they had told him to meet here. Seeing this place himself, Lycurgus was near with suspecting this to be a set up or trap of some sort considering a high traffic waypoint was not the most discreet meeting place. The mercenary had never assumed that the Hellhounds held much intelligence in the first place, yet even they were not stupid enough to arrange something as suicidal as this, but perhaps that explained their absence having come to realization that their spot was too hot!

Concluding that to be a fact the cat muttered an inaudible growl, the least they could’ve done was sent him a message about the change of plan! But once again Hellhound genius revealed at its finest, sometimes he wondered why he even bothered working for those brainless idiots. But they never asked much of him and of what he did was plain and straight forward; kill this, remove that, little risk involved with a big pay-off at completion; even if the missions was as exciting as watching a jellyfish rot. But then, better to be alive than dead, a yawn escaped the feline’s disfigured maw followed by an exhaled breath through a gentle stretch of tensed limbs, perhaps he should just leave but then it could be that they were only late or detained by something… or someone. Deciding to stay the bioluminescent acherra flopped down under the dead tree grooming his fur clean of salt a never ending maintenance job.

His cleaning job was kept short though as the crack of a twig followed by footsteps alerted him to the presence of creatures, the smell that enveloped the area soon enough betrayed the arrivals’ origins. ‘Finally!’ the acherra muttered rising to his paws as three wolf-like creatures emerged from the forest. “Sure took your time!” Lycurgus muttered through a half-sneer the canines however seemed unfazed by the feline’s irritation. “Be thankful we’re here at all.” The scarred leader snapped back, “But enough tarrying. I dare assume that since you’re here the job wasn’t a complete disaster?” The mercenary’s gaze trailed the forest causing the wolves to do the same obviously not trusting their own senses much.

The acherra’s icy gaze returned to the wolves saying nothing but suddenly what at first looked like a heap of fur dropped out of the thin air and landed with a thud on the ground between the mercenary and his employers. On closer inspections it turned out the heap of fur was a putrid corpse; bloated and swollen crawling with maggots and not to mention it stunk to the high heavens! What it had once been was hard to determine but given its size the creature couldn’t have been very old at the time of death. “I’ve been stuck with that stinking ragdoll for at least four weeks now!” Lycurgus prodded at the corps.

One of the wolves was obviously having a hard time keeping his stomach given the faint barfing sound not because of the sight of the dead cub but it was the overpowering odor. “Next time your master asks for proof of my work. I’ll bring it to him personally.” The mercenary shoved the corpse closer to the wolves in which one of them picked it up by the scruff. “Any new orders?” the acherra wasn’t very keen on the fact that he had to kill a child, and adult was easy enough but killing cubs well that proved extremely difficult because it was so much more dangerous and it required him to use more deception and cunning, even if most children were extremely gullible in the first place.
