RECRUITMENT

A maximum of 3% of your total population may be in your nation's armed forces at any one time. Of that 3%, only 40% can be recruited and trained as "professional" soldiers, while the rest can only be conscripts (equivalent to militia)

Militia may be enlisted en masse with a military program during emergencies and serious wartime situations (i.e. mobilization). These units will cost 125% of their usual cost, but without a build time.

Cost of recruitment is by battalion (250 men) and is calculated as your GDP per capita (GPC) times the amount shown.

Upgrading troops is possible. The cost is the difference between the two types, and the time to train remains the same for the new type.

TROOP TYPE ------------ TIME ------ COST (xGPC)

Militia/Conscripts ------ 1 days --- 1; Minimally-trained and usually has the lowest unit morale in all of the armed forces
Regulars ---------------- 3 days --- 3; Standard quality training and gear, made up of voluntary recruits, can be soldiers, sailors, marines, or airmen
Special Forces --------- 7 days --- 5; High quality training and gear, can only be trained in limited numbers (depending on type), able to carry out covert operations

Quality of troops is judged by time it takes to train them, so militia being the lowest quality while Special Forces being the highest.

***NOTES:

The basic military land unit is the battalion, which comprises of 250 soldiers. Four Battalions make a Brigade (1000 soldiers), five Brigades make a Division (5000 soldiers) and two Divisions (10,000 soldiers) make a full-fledged Army Corps.

Naval units are recruited in much the same fashion as Land Units. Battleships and Aircraft Carriers are equivalent in manpower as one brigade (1000 men), a cruiser or destroyer is equivalent to two battalions (500 men), and a submarine or frigate is equivalent to one battalion (250 men).

Air units are also recruited in the same fashion as Land units. One Battalion makes up a squadron (12 Planes, 250 men), two squadrons make up an air group (24 planes, 500 men), and two air groups makes up an air wing (48 planes, 1000 men).

Special forces are capped at maximum of one brigade (1000 men) per unit.

ON SPECIAL FORCES

Special Forces are highly-trained soldiers who carry out direct action unconventional warfare (i.e. capturing an enemy target or destroying an enemy naval base). They can also be called upon to do military reconnaissance, train resistance fighters in a rival nation, or defend VIPs or areas. Their effectiveness is based on the Direct Action Civic Level.

MOVEMENT

With the passing of each turn (1 Real Week), units may move or attack a certain amount of Points

Infantry: 10 Points
Armor/Motorized Infantry: 20 Points
Artillery: 5 Points

Units of combined arms (made up of Infantry, Armor/Motorized and/or Artillery) will have movement points from the unit with the lowest number.

One Point equals either one attack or movement through one adjacent province.

Naval and air units may move anywhere throughout the world in one turn.

STRUCTURES

NOTE: Military forces not stationed at a base or a defensive structure are considered in the field and will gain fatigue slowly over time.

Key:
Barracks = how many soldiers the base can support
Garages = how many armor, vehicles, artillery, etc the base can support
Hangers = how many aircraft the base can support
Harbors = how many naval ship the base can support
NOTE: Light Cruisers, Destroyers, Submarines and Large Landing Ships only take up half a spot, so 2 per 1 Harbor Point. Patrol Ships do not need a harbor, nor do small landing ships
