An important part of your duties as a national leader will be to negotiate and make friends with your neighbors through the use of diplomacy. Whether making true friends or scheming to fulfill your national interest, diplomacy is a key tool for securing success. The primary means of communication is through the use of an embassy. Once you have established an embassy, your ambassador will be able to discuss various things with your neighbors including, but not limited to... Diplomatic Bloc: A diplomatic bloc is a group of nations that agree to send delegates to a central location for all members to meet and be able to discuss various issues. Some major diplomatic blocs, such as the United Nations, N.A.T.O., and the Warsaw Pact, are already developed at the beginning of the game and placed in the International Organizations category. Free Trade Treaty: A free trade treaty is a document signed between two nations who agree not to impose tariffs (tax) on some or all goods imported from each others' nations. The idea is to create a free market of goods flowing between the two nations and, in the end, moves industry to where it is cheapest and most efficient. However, the use of such measures may lead nations to become dependent upon each other for the fulfillment of certain needs. Can increase or decrease GDPs of certain nations. Economic Bloc: An economic bloc is a group of nations that agree to a set economic rules and policies between member states. This operates like free trade treaties, except on a larger scale. The risk of dependency still exists, but on a larger scale. Can increase or decrease GDPs of certain nations or blocs. Mutual Defense Pact: A mutual defense pact is an agreement between two or more nations to defend each other against unprovoked, foreign aggression. Military Alliance: A military alliance is an agreement between two or more nations to support each other in specific or multiple military campaigns. Military Bloc: A military bloc is a group of nations that agree to a set of military rules and policies between member states. This can be under the standard of a mutual defense pact or military alliance. Union Bloc: A union bloc is a group of nations that agree to a set of military and economic rules and policies between member states. They therefor exist as a union of independent states, acting as one national group. Players may establish a thread for their embassies and all diplomacy within the Embassy category to keep and maintain a list of all nations you have embassies with, treaties, organizational membership, and other things. Treaties will be signed by all signatory parties in the Treaties section. Organizations that may be formed will be kept within the 'International Organizations' Forum. These forums may be password protected for those members only or can be kept public if those members wish it. However, only members will be allowed to post. |
