![]() Starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette as possibly three of the most unlucky people to ever grace cinema. Scream revived the horror genre and started a slew of copycats. It also gave us a new horror icon in Ghostface. |

1 is a masterpiece, and 2 is really good too. 3 is a disaster redeemed only by the presence of Sidney and Jennifer (all hail Parker Posey!) while 4 has to be one of the most mixed movies I've seen in a long time. |

You know what I feel about 4? It gets a lot wrong like X-Men: The Last Stand, but I find it genuinely more entertaining to watch than 3 (which is Scooby Doo Scream) and on the basis of being a 4th installment of a horror franchise that really didn't need one? It's better than it really deserves to be or should be. |

Oh, no doubt it's better than 3. And I did enjoy it (give it a 5/10), but what we got was kind of a letdown compared to what could have been. I think the biggest issue (well, second biggest, THE biggest was casting Emma Roberts) was that you had a bunch of middle-aged or older people trying and completely failing at being young or fresh. I mean, things like social media, modern horror, and texting are barely incorporated, not to mention a lot of the new generation characters are so underdeveloped that they kinda run together.

I can agree with almost all of that. Which is one of the reasons I love the series, it feels more like what Scream 4 should've been in terms of being a modern meta slasher. Emma's fine in some of her psycho rambling, and weak in other parts, but I can't buy her as the nice girl, IMO. What bugs me most is it was a starter of a new trilogy originally and it runs any potential of one into the ground instantly by only leaving the weird cop lady and old trilogy's trio alive in the end. |

Ohhhh yes @ series/Scream 4. It's pretty much exactly what Scream 4 is trying to be. Actually, kinda feel the reverse on Emma. Well, I agree that I didn't buy her as a nice girl, but I thought her psycho acting is some of the worst I've seen. She just starts randomly screaming words with no real logic or actual emotion/depth to it. "Shut the FUCK UP already" would probably be my most hated Emma line-delivery to date. I get that, and I know a lot of people hated that (with good reason), but it was probably one of the only things I really liked. I mean, talk about a perfect deconstruction of remakes. All the newbies get wiped out and the old characters reclaim their series? I'd have offed Judy too to tie everything up. |

I guess that does sort of make Sidney's ''Don't fuck with the original" better. It's just, where was the series even going to go in 5 and 6? Without anyone to drive it into new areas? It's a good thing the TV show comes along, because there really wasn't any other sort of horror type or trpe for Scream 5 and 6 to conquer without drastically changing the face of the series to do so. |

To be fair, I'd rather have a well done, fully realized four than half-realized, not-fully-realized done 4-6. I do know that if 4 did hugely well, they'd have found SOME way to make 5/6 happen, though I don't know what that way would be. They'd probably play the passing-the-torch stuff straight, bring in new teens that aren't 2.0s, and slowly downplay the trio's role. That said, TV was really the best place for this to go. That's where most horror is now |

Considering how much they're "equals" of the TV series are the weakest characters the series have. I really really miss Sidney and Gale. I'd take a Scream 5 that was horrible just to see them again. Even if Courteney would probably have to be drug back kicking and screaming. |

Gale was....I don't know, maybe the bangs were the problem. |

I'd say the bangs were the least of her problems. It was like watching Monica from Friends imitate Gale... if Gale was a badly written cartoon character for the modern Disney channel Plus, having her and Dewey recycle the rom-com stuff
