![]() Christina Marķa Aguilera (born December 18, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Born in Staten Island, New York and raised in Rochester and Wexford, Pennsylvania, she appeared on the television series Star Search and The Mickey Mouse Club in her childhood. Aguilera rose to prominence as a bubblegum pop singer in the 1990s; her self-titled debut album (1999) debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, and spawned the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants", and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)". She earned her fourth number-one single in the United States with a cover version of "Lady Marmalade" in 2001. Displeased with her lack of input in her image and music, Aguilera assumed creative control for her fourth studio album, Stripped (2002), which draws influences from many genres including soul, hip hop, Latin, and rock. The album spawned multiple top-ten singles, including "Dirrty" and "Beautiful", and was one of the best-selling albums of that year. Aguilera is an established pop icon; her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including four Grammy Awards, one Latin Grammy Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To date, Aguilera has sold 17.4 million albums in the United States and 50 million records worldwide. Rolling Stone ranked her at number 58 on their list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, becoming the youngest singer to appear on the list, while Billboard recognized Aguilera as the twentieth most successful artist of the 2000s. Besides her work in the entertainment industry, Aguilera is involved in charitable activities through human rights, world issues, and her work as a UN ambassador for the World Food Programme. DISCOGRAPHY Spoiler: click to toggle I'm a HUGE fan; love her personality, love her voice, love her music. Personal fav. album is Stripped, with strong HMs to Back to Basics and Bionic. |

See? I love me some Back to Basics. I love love love what she was doing there. I think the only reason she was overshadowed by Britney is that perhaps Britney just knows how to be flashier and put on a show, where as Christina isn't as accustomed to big shows of showmanship. (Outside of you know riffs with her voice.) |

Yes! Back to Basics was amazing; I love the entire album. I really want Xtina to get back to her innovative style vs. whatever the fuck Lotus was I think that Christina's time between albums was also a major issues. There were four year gaps between CA & Stripped (she did a Holiday + Spanish album, but), Stripped & B2B, and B2B & Bionic. |
