The Children of the Corn franchise; An adult nightmare.

Based on a short story by Stephen King in which a couple break down in the mysterious town of Gatlin, Nebraska, where all of the adults were mysteriously murdered by the children at the behest of a mysterious being called He Who Walks Behind the Rows, 1984's cult horror classic Children of the Corn has spawned 7 sequels, each of varying (and declining) quality.

In COTC II: The Final Sacrifice, a reporter goes to the town of Gatlin following a big story, and winds up in the clutches of a conspiracy involving He Who Walks Behind the Rows and corn mold.

COTC III: Urban Harvest deals with a couple from Chicago adopting brothers, one of whom brings the cornfields of Gatlin to the big city.

COTC IV: The Gathering features a doctor who notices all of the children in her town is coming down with a mysterious illness linked to the corn.

COTC V: Fields of Terror takes the series into teen slasher territory, when five friends on their way to a funeral break down outside of Gatlin and run afowl of those awful Corn Kids.

COTC 666: Isaac's Return is about a young woman who finds out she's the child of one of the original Gatlin children.

COTC: Revelation involves a young woman investigating a creepy apartment building where her grandmother mysteriously disappeared.

There's also a remake which sticks much closer to the orginal story, and another sequel, both of which I haven't seen, but plan to soon.

These aren't good movies by a long shot, (In fact, Isaac's return is damn near unwatchable except for some eye candy) They're badly written, terribly acted (Despite featuring future Oscar winner Charlize Theron in III, Naomi Watts in IV, and Eva Mendez in V), and cheesy as fuck. (An effect in III is accomplished by a hand puppet picking up a doll.) But man, are they a fun way to turn your brain off and enjoy something stupid.

Why would I kill you? I only recently watched a good chunk of the sequels, myself.

I've never actually seen one of these in full. I recall starting 1 awhile ago but not finishing for whatever reason, it might have been late and I got tired. Either way, don't remember much of that. Then I tried to watch 5 for Eva Mendes and gave up pretty quick; though, again, don 't remember much. Followed THAT up by seeing Crystal Lowe's two scenes in 7, that bathtub sequence was hilarious.

Oh, and then I topped it all off with trying to watch the remake. I didn't make it far, mainly on account of the main girl being inhumanly and impossibly bitchy. Good Lorde.

I have some $5 or so DvD set with all the movies and I'll get to them eventually, but....
