But The Bells Are Ringing.

"I heard the bells on Christmas day. Their old familiar carols play ,and mild and sweet their songs repeat, of peace on earth good will to men."
-Mark Hall of Casting Crowns-

"And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: 'Behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be for all people, Unto you is born this day a Saviour which is Christ the Lord."
Luke 2:11

Twas the night before a non-denominational or
denominational celebratory day, when all through the
residential dwelling, either rented or owned, not a
creature was stirring, not even an evolution-advanced,
sentient, small furry species that must be respected.

The hosiery which may be worn by any person regardless
of gender (or gender identity) was hung (in a gentle
manner using recyclable materials) by the chimney with
care, in hopes that a follically gifted person of
enhanced girth soon would be there.

You see, this is the problem with Christmas in America today. We've become so afraid of offending people, that we've even released "politically correct" versions of some of the greatest holiday stories. Twas the night before Christmas is not meant to be a steaming pile of donkey ass like that. It's meant to be a joyous story to tell children and adults alike during this wonderful Christmas season.

Now, I'm not American, but for the longest time I've been here in the states. I've had to get used to things here in the supposed "greatest country in the world". To be honest, I just don't see what's so special about America. Their national debt is higher than any other time in the nations history, their president is a dumb ass, and things just keep getting worse minute by minute. Next thing you know, Barack Hussain Obama is going to ban Christmas itself.

Christmas is a day we all celebrate. A day for love, joy, peace, and good will. It's a day we can put the worries of the world aside and enjoy the company of our families. Christmas is sacred ground, and no one fucks with Christmas. That being said, very few people even know the truth. They don't know the Story of Christmas.

It was a cold springtime night, not winter like most people think. Some shepherds were tending to their flocks in the field when an angel appeared to them. He told them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good tidings of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger."

For hundreds of years the birth of the Messiah was prophesied about, and now he comes, in a manger of all places. A stables full of hay and animals. You'd think the King of Kings would be born into royalty, well, so did many during that time. No one expected he'd come from the humblest of origins.

On that night, Jesus Christ entered our world with the sole purpose of giving us the greatest present we'd ever receive; life. He came to die so that we may live. And thirty or so years later, he kept his promise and went to the cross on Calvary, taking all of our sins upon himself, so that whomever will confess with their tongue and believe in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord shall not perish but have eternal life.

THAT is the reason for the season, but what does any of this have to do with anything? Well, today is Christmas Eve, just one more day until that great celebration. It's been a long year with many ups and downs, but tomorrow, all our cares go away. We can sit by the fire sipping cocoa, eating sugar cookies, and telling our children how we survived the apocalypse.

So what exactly is it that makes this season magical even for those who don't believe in God? Music. It is simply music that makes the Christmas season that much more amazing. When you turn on the radio and hear songs like Jingle Bell Rock, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, or even Paul McCartney's hit song Christmastime, you just can't help but feel warm inside.

The music of Christmas takes our cares away and brings us to a whole new plane of happiness. It's something we all wait for every year, and when it goes, we count the days until we can hear it again. And music, well, that's MY specialty. After all, I am the frontman of the 2012 Rock Band of the Year.

But enough about me. Tis the season to give to others, and I wish to give you all a joyous gift this Christmas. On December 26th, the day after the greatest day on Earth, Ascension Championship Wrestling shall attempt to bring more joy into the hearts of millions with our twentieth Initiative event. On top of all that, it's our Christmas special! And what is the main event?

Well...it's Judas Dathan and Matt Slater. Let's be honest here, no one watching cares about that. Not when the true main event comes right before! Steve Thomas, Xandor Cross, THREE! We meet in that ring again for a Three Stages of Hell match the likes of which this company has never seen!

No Holds Barred

First Blood

And if necessary

I QUIT!

Three brutal matches back to back, best of two wins and claims superiority! It's a match a long time in the making, and now it's finally come down to the truth. Who is the better man? Well, actually, I already know I'm the better man. I'm not a bloody hypocrite who pretends to be a Christian. A more proper thing to ask is, who is the better wrestler?

We began this feud, and I underestimated him. I let him defeat me because I wouldn't take him seriously. A mistake I was sure not to make twice. Our second meeting, I took the victory and stopped him from taking my number one contendership. I defended my shot at the belt, and look where I am now! Warfare Champion bitches!

Now the tie must be broken. Only one of us can walk out the winner, and to be honest, I have to give you credit here Cross. You have talent as a competitor, but when things come down to it, you just don't have the moxy. When I get you in that ring, one day removed from Christmas, I will make sure you face the absolute terror of a murder at the steambath. Don't get it? Well, you will soon enough.

But enough about that, for today is a glorious day. A day when at even the humblest and smallest of churches, one can go to enjoy the annual Christmas Pageant. And if you happen to be in Hattiesburgh, Mississippi, you might want to stop by St. Mark's Baptist Church.

Because here I kneel, beside the crib of hay and underneath the wooden roof of the makeshift manger. A baby lays in the crib, looking up at me and cooing. To the other side of him is a girl, smiling with cheeks as rosy as a Christmas fruitcake. A choir of children sing "Away in a Manger" as the pageant comes to an end.

All at once, the crowd packed into the church pews stands to their feet and gives a heart-felt ovation for the greatest story ever told. Elizabeth, portraying the virgin Mary, and myself, as Joseph, give a bow. The Deacons portraying the wise men bow, followed by the angels. The curtain over the stage closes, and we smile.

Hugs go around and people begin to head to the back to remove the over-sized robes, fake beards, and wings. I, however, stop to meet with Pastor Daylus Kelvin, an old friend of mine from my first visit to this country. His hair is graying and his beard is shaven, but he looks as young and spirited as ever.

"Great show tonight," he says, hugging me tightly, "you did wonderful, just like I told you."

"Yeah yeah, you were right," I laugh. He motions for me to take a seat, and I do with pleasure. He takes the chair beside mine and smiles as I try to remove the heavy robes I had to wear, returning the the normal clothes I had on underneath.

"So, what now for the famous Steve Thomas?" he asks.

"Well, beside my regular donations to the church here, I am to be competing this week, against Xandor Cross again."

"Ah, that's right. You're facing that man again."

I can tell by his tone that he holds not contempt or anger towards Xandor Cross for his blasphemy, but pity. He feels nothing but sorrow for the path the man has chosen to take. He feels love for Xandor that he knows might never be returned.

I've always had trouble with that; loving your enemies. Xandor Cross just rubs me the wrong way. His holier than thou attitude is such a negative representation of Christianity. He is the reason why so many people turn their heads from the church. He pretends to be something he clearly is not.

I don't know his reasons, but whatever they are, I know that he is in pain. Something has hurt him, and it's made him a monster. I weep for what he is, but rejoice in what he could be. Now, believe me this, I am NOT the biggest Christian out there. Yes, I do believe and I go to church on a weekly basis. But hell, none of that matters. I have Jesus in my heart, and that's what truly matters.

However, even with all that, I sin. I'm human and sometimes I can't help it. I do things I shouldn't, even knowingly. I don't put a lot of focus on my faith, no where near as much as I should, but even I am not as bad as someone pretending to be a Christian. I at least believe.

"You're spacing out again Steve," Pastor Kelvin laughs, patting me on the shoulder, "you seem to do that a lot. Got things on your mind?"

"Yeah, a lot actually. I mean, it was just recently that Nix and I got married, and we haven't even been able to go on a honeymoon due to my schedules. Between wrestling and rocking, we just don't have the time. Not to mention, there's the entire Xandor Cross thing that I have to focus on."

"Don't fret these things Steve. Just remember, Philipians 4:13."

"I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me," I quote with a smile. I hug the man and thank him for his support and help before getting to my feet. I turn to leave, but remember something. Turning back to Pastor Kelvin, I reach in the large pocket of the robe and pull out a copy of the deadAmbition Christmas album, handing it to him.

"You wanted this, right?"

"Yes, I did. Thank you Steve. I'll listen to it tonight, maybe start with Mary Did You Know."

"Sounds great old man, see you later."

He nods and we head to our separate directions. I return to the back room and put the robe back on it's hook. I then exit and find my way to the front lobby, where Nix and Arrietty are standing with big smiles spread across the whole of their faces.

Their beauty radiates through the building, shining a light into the stained glass windows. My darling sister, and my amazing wife. The only two girls in the world right now. They are all I care about, and I want to treat them right.

"So, it's Christmas Eve, and the night's still young," I say, smiling and leaning against the wall, "how about we do dinner? My treat. Hell, we can just make it a girls night out."

They laugh and nod. I smile and hold out my arms, which they grab, allowing me to escort them out. Tonight, we have fun. Tomorrow, we open presents and enjoy our Christmas, together. The first Christmas I'm spending with Arrietty in many years.

We get home about ten thirty, drunk on egg nog and happiness. We pass through the threshold and into the hotel suite, stumbling over our own feet. I get my girls to the sofa, sitting them down as they giggle madly. I smirk, knowing I can hold my alcohol better than many, and walk slowly to the table, where the television remote is.

"What do ya girlies wanna watch," I yell. I don't know why I'm yelling, it just comes out like that.

"Doctor Who!" Arrietty shouts with a hiccup. Nix giggles and falls over, which only causes her to laugh even harder, snorting as she does.

I flip to BBC America and find an entire Doctor Who marathon on, all leading to the big Christmas special tomorrow night. I turn it on to find Rory standing outside a bathroom, and a young girl in front of a sink hacking up white goo.

"Oh! It's the doppleganger one," Nix laughs.

I take a seat beside them and grabs a Pepsi from my mini-fridge. I crack the can open and take a drink right as the girls shoots her head and neck out of the hole in the restroom stall door. I choke on the drink laughing.

Tonight has been a good night, following a great day, and more is yet to come. Though Christmas shall be followed by fighting, I shall make it as merry as possible. I will crush Xandor Cross' spirit and make sure the fans of ACW never have to be plagued by him ever again.

I will give them the greatest Christmas present that I can; freedom. Freedom from the ultimate hypocrite, freedom from a blasphemer who doesn't truly love and only hurt. I will change things in ACW forever, and it starts with Cross. Then, I will defend my championship against anyone brave or stupid enough to come against me.

This is Christmas, and tis the season for love, joy, and great music. Whether you celebrate at home by the fire, or traversing through the snow, make this holiday a merry one. And always remember that I wish you a merry Christmas, and a very happy New Year.
