Gifts

This time of year, anywhere and everywhere someone would seek to look are visual representations of what an ideal Christmas spent with the family should look like. A mother and father along with a few children all gathered around a brightly lit Christmas tree, smiling happily enjoying the opening of various gifts in addition to the company of one another.

The Christmas that I always wanted for my family, but have never really had.

Sure there were a few Christmases in which Cera, Vanessa, and I were together along with our father and my step-mother but they were far from a beautiful picture that someone would put onto a Christmas card. Unfortunately, even during what is often referred to as the most wonderful time of the year, our stepmother could not contain her hatred and contempt for Cera and I. Still all of these years later I can remember the venom spewing from the mouth of our stepmother towards my twin sister and I during what should have been joyous occasions for all.

This Christmas, there will be no venom from my serpentine stepmother. She was called to face her final judgment earlier this year, a judgment I pray was deserving considering her treatment of others during her life. Sadly though, at the very same time my father was summoned to the gates of Saint Peter as well.

Oh, how I miss him so...

Staring deeply at the beautifully decorated Christmas tree in our Manhattan, New York apartment from the white leather couch several feet away, an overwhelming sadness washes over me. A singular tear slowly falls to my cheek as my lips softly tremble. Seated to my right, my boyfriend Timothy looks over to me worriedly.

Reya, is something wrong?

Taking my eyes off of the tree briefly, I turn to him and shake my head.

No Timothy, everything is fine...

Narrowing his eyes slightly, he questions me curiously.

If everything is fine darling, then why are you crying?

Before I answer, I let out a little sigh.

It is difficult to explain You see...

Stopping suddenly, I shake my head once more at Timothy.

No, perhaps now is not the best time to discuss this.

Moving his hand to my cheek, Timothy replies reassuringly.

Please, Reya...clearly something is bothering you. It is not good to keep such things bottled up to yourself.

There is a brief pause as I look deeply into his eyes.

I...I have never told you of my father, have I?

No, I do not believe that you have.

He was a hard working man, a kind man. You two would have gotten on splendidly had you met, I think.

Frowning slightly in sadness, I continue.

The two of us, him and I, we had been apart for quite a long time due to circumstances beyond our control but I was looking forward to seeing him again, spending precious time with him...

Another pause as I close my eyes for a moment, long enough for another tear to roll down my cheek.

Several months ago, he was in...an accident. The plane he was in crashed and unfortunately he did not survive.

Attempting to comfort me, Timothy grabs me and pulls me in for a hug as he puts his arms around me.

Oh my dear, I am so sorry...so very sorry.

I allow the hug to continue for another few moments before pulling away, sniffling slightly before a thought hits me suddenly

I am sorry....How thoughtless of me to go on about such things with you of all people, Timothy. After all, your parents...

Placing the tip of his index finger upon my lips momentarily, Timothy interrupts.

It is quite alright, sweetheart. The death of my parents happened a very long time ago. In any case, Christmas is supposed to be a happy, joyous occasion. Though we are not able to share the joys of Christmas of our parents any longer, we can still share them with each other.

Yes we can, my love. Yes, we can.

As I flash a weak smile, I get to my feet, walking over to the Christmas tree. I pick up one of the beautifully decorated presents and step back over to the couch. Smiling warmly, I hand the present to him.

Merry Christmas, Timothy.

Blushing slightly, he gazes deeply into my eyes as he hesitates.

Open it.

Turning his attention to the present in his hands, he takes off the wrapping carefully around the box. He then opens the box to reveal a small item made of black silk, which he stares at curiously.

It is a bow tie. Interesting.

According to Paxar, bow ties are cool. If you do not like it I could return it and get you something else.

Feeling slightly dismayed, I almost reach in to grab the present before Timothy looks up at me and shakes his head.

That will not be necessary. I rather like it actually.

He flashes a bright smile at me as due to his delight my frown turns upside down. Then, he makes an inquisitive inquiry.

Speaking of Paxar...where is she?

She is back in Los Angeles, spending Christmas with her mother. Though she will be returning before my match at Initiative, the two of us have already exchanged gifts.

Nodding, Timothy continues questioning me curiously.

I see...what gift did she get you?

A gorgeous trench coat, along with a beautiful long red scarf.

How thoughtful of her.

Indeed.

There is a momentary pause until finally Timothy stands up from the couch, speaking nervously

So...I have a gift for you that I hope that you will like.

Oh? What might this gift be, Timothy?

It is a surprise, of course. If you would please close your eyes I would be more than delighted to reveal that surprise to you.

Giving him a slight nod, I close my eyes as Timothy gives me a playful command.

No peeking.

Timothy then walks over to the door of the apartment, opening it to reveal what appears to be a vocalist and violinist standing outside. He motions for them to enter as they do so with the utmost silence. With a smile upon his face he takes his place at my side on the couch as the musicians stand in front of the tree, beginning to play...

You may open your eyes, sweetheart.

Slowly, my eyes open as I continue listening in wonder to the song being played. Brightly smiling, I peer over to Timothy who gazes back at me lovingly.

Merry Christmas, my beautiful...my love...my dear, sweet Reya.

Taking my hand in his, the two of us kiss as the musicians play on...

Though I seek and pray for victory when I arrive in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to participate in the Christmas Gift Elimination Match against the venomous Ashley Poison, the overconfident Tori Devine, the overhyped Orlando Ocean, and my respected friend Seth Iser on Initiatve the spoils are not what will be driving me to attain such victory. After all, with the Lord, wonderful fans, great friends and family, and the love of my life on my side what other gift could I possibly ask for that I do not already have?

My drive to win this match lies in my intention to prove to everyone that at any given time that I can step into the ring and defeat both the veterans and rookies alike that Ascension Championship Wrestling has to offer, that if I so desired and did not presently have the ACW International Championship belt around my waist that I could potentially capture the top prize that ACW has to offer, the ACW Ultimate Championship from the devious clutches of Judas Dathan.

Come Initiative, The Herald of Holiness shall remind everyone of just how dominant she truly can be and just why she reigns supreme over nearly each and every single member of the ACW roster on her way to eliminating Poison, Devine, Ocean, and Iser in order to attain victory. A gift of my choosing will be merely an added bonus.

So sayeth The Herald of Holiness.

So it shall, by the grace of God, be done.
