Bonds reaches 756

Well tonight against the Nationals, Barry Bonds hit his 756th career home run and is now the new home run king. I actually did like Bonds before, but with all the steroid accusations and such, I'm not sure what to think. I actually didn't want him to break the record if he has been taking steroids at any point. What do you guys think? Where do you stand on this? And I am not so clear about the steroid story, so if you have any information on it, I'd love to hear about it.

Many people became suspicious of him because he put on a lot of muscle and size at a late age. Despite how much natural working out you do, once you start getting in your late 20s early 30s your body does not bulk up as it does when you're in your late teens/early 20s. You can get stronger, but your overall body mass is hard to increase. Bonds got a lot bigger very quickly. It's reported even his skull is larger than it used to be. His personal trainer is in prison for refusing to testify in the steroid investigation. Then Bonds made a statement a year or so ago that he may have unknowingly taken steriods/growth hormones through a cream and supplement that his trainer told him was something else. Had he known what it could have been, he wouldn't have taken it. Through all of this, however, not one single bit of proof has come out that he ever took anything like that. Only a bunch of rumors/speculation/accusations. Nobody can prove it.

Here's my personal thought on it. The man has been a homerun hitting machine his entire career and hasn't slacked off after 22 years. I mean he's what, 43, and he still has 22 homeruns and is a part-time player plus gets walked 3 times a game. Steroids can help with power, but they do not give you the athletic ability to hit a baseball with such massive skill for 22 years. You have like .3 seconds to react to a pitch...steroids doesn't give you that. Sheer athletic ability does and as far as homeruns go, he's the best ever. A-Rod will probably pass him by the time he retires, but for now, Bonds is the man and should be considered as such. Many other players have been proven to have taken steroids and they can't hold Barry Bonds' jockstrap much less have the stats this guy has.

Just in case you're interested...people say he started taking drugs 1999 - 2003. Look at his stats. The man was hitting HRs way before then...

Agreed he can hit a ball, but he undoubtedly juices. I work with some major roid turds and I can spot 'em a mile away.

That being said.....

I couldn't care less if he or any other athlete juices or not. Sports are for entertainment...I say let em juice up so they're roid raging all the time and eventually their hearts explode....hopefully it'll be while their on the field. Now that would be fun.

lol...yeah there's no doubt in my mind he took growth hormones, but also it's funny more pitchers have been caught using steroids than fielders/batters. I don't see how bulking up would help a pitcher. You need to be flexible (don't get excited Dave I'm talking about baseball you sick perv).

OK I will add my 2 cents even though it may make a few mad!

Barry Bonds is a roid taking fag! If you take drugs in a season, that season should be wiped out. As if it never happened! There is only one homerun king and it is not Barry! Hank will go down in my book as the king forever!

As for the comments of my main man Mick. His abilities have little to do with it. The last 15 years or so has made it easier for everyone to hit the longball. The new balls and bats make that possible. Skill?? yea he has skill, How to punch a small hole in his ass and take drugs! That is his skill.

The technology of baseball was drastically improved from when Babe Ruth played and when Hank Aaron played. Ruth played in an era where the balls were literally filled with saw dust, bats weighed a ton, and they played all the games during the day in the scorching summer heat. So on that argument, that means Ruth is better than Aaron and Bonds.

Stats such as these will never be a fair, equal situation because the sport constantly changes. It's just one of those things.

Ball players back then also had to have other jobs, because no professional sport paid enough to live!!!! I personally hate Barry Bonds, and think that it shouldn't even make the news the fact that he hit 756 HRs........ but hey, if thats what entertains, then let it be. Hopefully this years world series will be more interesting then the SuperBowl and Stanley Cup, cause the only good sports entertain i've had this year, from big tournements series, is the FIFA U20 World Cup. And the almost every MotoGP race!!! Now theres a sport! Rifling around tide @$$ road course on 1100cc, all CB and Ti rocket ships. Leaning 2 inches off the ground, out in the open, throwing yourself on a bike thats topping out at 280 km/h. Sick, thats all i can say

Stanley cup, not entertaining. Did you just use those in the same sentence? A few years back, the Hurricanes took the cup in Game 7. Now talk about entertaining / a miracle / a dream come true :yup:
