The COD 4 MP beta for the XBox 360 is starting to make it's rounds with the gaming industry officials and from everything I've read about it, I can't wait for this game. Who knows, if it's playable by enough people, BNS moves into COD 4 territory after a while? We'll see what happens I guess.

Anyways, here's a pretty cool write up about the MP Beta in it's very first, initial release...

(Although this is for the XBox 360, it'll still be the same on the PC and PS3)

What did I tell you all about it looking ridiculously complex? After reading through that, yeah it sounds impressive, but playability? I'm not so sure.

I just want one gun, one side arm, and a handful of grenades to blow heads off with. Not player classes, XP points, helicopter drops, bomb squads, a restriction on starting weapons, and shoot-through walls, to name but a few over-the-top features.

You're wandering along, and you fall down dead. Was it a trip? Hidden C4? Someone shooting through a wall? A helicopter strike?

All sounds a bit ridiculous.

Chippy in all reality online gaming has to evolve past that. It's why people are starting to only play games like WOW and Halo 3 soon. These style games offer different gameplay practically everytime you play. You can be a different player and so can the people you play against...every round...every day. You can die a huge variety of ways every round. It'll take a lot to get tired of that because you are constantly building up to something bigger and better, plus it's hardly ever the same old routine.

Fact is if COD were to come out with a "here's your two standard weapons and grenade...now go" it would be just another online MP shooter game after about a month or so. That way of playing is as worn out as the WWII genre. It's why people start modding games after a few months of them being released. After a while, playing with the exact same gametypes, weapons, settings, etc that you played with the moment you opened the box and installed it....it gets old and after a while you lose interest in it. I don't see that happening with COD 4 for a very long time after being released.

We'll just have to wait and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

This is a modern combat game so having stuff like helicopter attacks is quite realistic.
