There was a dim light in the study room that Gohan spent so much time in, but after a long morning of hard work it was time for a break. There were no open windows that had been jumped through as his father would have done, instead Gohan had left through the door and made straight for the forest, the same place he remembered crying in as a little boy, looking for his father. Smiling to himself as he heard all of the noises of nature, he couldn’t help but feel relaxed as the cool air ran over his face, instinctively making him close his eyes.

“Man, it really is great out here. So quiet, so peaceful…”

Coming across a clearing, Gohan saw a perfect spot to rest. There was a tree trunk in the sun that was big enough for him to lay on, and with a goofy little smile, he chuckled to himself and made his way over to it. One hand found its way to his tie, which quickly came undone as he took off his jacket and threw them both aside, laying back on the tree trunk in a plain white shirt, his belt and pants.

As he watched the clouds drift by in the sky, he was wondering where exactly his family had run off to. Gohan’s mother for some reason had not been home in a while, actually, he hadn’t seen his father in a while either. Maybe he had been too busy in his work but Videl and Pan hadn’t been around for a while either.

“Hmm, where are those girls anyway?” Gohan wondered to himself. “I guess I should pay more attention, heh, I’ve been working myself too hard. Maybe some exercise would do me some good.”

Sitting up with a grin on his face, Gohan rolled up his sleeves and clenched both fists, feeling the muscles and subtle strength of his body before springing to his feet and making his way to the centre of the clearing, the sun shining down on him.

“Now…”

With a grunt, Gohan’s white aura flared around him, burning the air as all of a sudden his muscles felt renewed. It’s been far too long since I did this, I’d almost forgotten how refreshing it felt.

Turning towards a large old tree with many scuff marks in it from former members of the Son family training, his expression turned into a concentrated frown as he began some casual exercise.

It had definitely been a long time since she had last seen her father. To be fair, she had not seen her mother in a long time either. For a good part of her younger years, Pan, like any other good child, had lived together with both of her parents. However, as she came of age, along with an older body and a broader sense of maturity came many responsibilities. For starters, much like with the rest of her family, Pan seemed to possess a lot of untapped potential. As soon as her training became much more relevant to the power she already possessed, her skills improved tremendously. With due time, out of her own free will and the careful watching eye of the Saiyan hierarchy, Pan joined the Saiyan Armada. There, she was put through several training sessions that put to the test her very will and resolve to fight and push on. Impressing even those of importance at planet Vegeta, Pan was soon known as a prodigy and a potential of war. She simply grasped very difficult concepts at astounding speeds and became much stronger in a short amount of time that would have otherwise taken decades for others to achieve. Of course, that meant that she did not see her family as much as she wanted. That too however was a feeling that like her childhood years, were rather fleeting.

With the coming of age, Pan seemed to change quite a bit. Her clothing and likes had definitely taken a turn although she still maintained a sensible respect to the sort of things she had always liked. Nevertheless, she just was not as attached to her parents as she once had been. It was likely because of all the time she spent away from Earth. Of course, it could also be because with all the power she had and the missions and tasks she was assigned to, those levels of responsibility would leave no unadulterated innocence in her. Then again, it could also very well be her parent’s fault. Neither Gohan nor Videl were with her very often. Both of her parents, much like Pan herself happened to be rather smart as well as capable fighters. And, because of their occupations, that meant that they were almost always away on business trips and absent from the home, or absent from being there in thought since their own just kept them and made them seemingly unable to care for their child as they should have. But it was much too late. As it stood, Pan was no longer a child. At the age of 18, even if her grandma still called her her grand baby, Pan was very much an adult. It showed not only in her power but also in her personality and how well developed her body was.

That was not to say she was in bad terms with her parents though. She did not dislike any of them. Granted she was not very fond of how they had been pretty away from each other for the last few years, but she felt like she was pretty much over that. Luckily for her, she had arrived on Earth less than a month ago, and at least for the time being, she planned to stay. Just recently she had started training with Master Roshi to acquire some of the family techniques among other things. She had already mastered some of her dad, namely the Masenko and Ultimate Masenko as well as others. But, as she saw it, there was no limit to how strong she could become, and it showed during every one of her training sessions. Alas, there would be no such thing that day. She had quite a few training sessions on the days before it, and as such, her body was in a state where it simply called for some rest. Dates would have to wait as well. There was that thing with the Changeling Kuriza, but it was at the dawn of it anyways and there was no point in telling her dad; not yet anyways. She still went out on dates quite often as a way to add some spice and amusement to her predominantly wild lifestyle, but not that day. Instead, she happened to be going on a hike by the mountain side. She had actually left very early the morning. It was not so much for the struggle as she could do it many times without tiring out. It was much more for the sight. Sure, she could easily get a good view by just flying around in half the time, but would just shave away some of the fun.

As the day passed by though, going up and down the mountain range had lost its allure. Its not like she expected her dad to be home but she would check anyways. The shortest way was definitely flying but seeing as she had taken a rougher path that morning, she did not see a reason to change. Instead, she decided to cut through the forest. As usual, she wore clothing that was somewhat typical to what she wore often as a child, but very much changed to fit her more adult look. It consisted of a red t-shirt that rode a little high on her midsection, showing her belly button. While the denim short booty shorts would have usually been her choice since it was the right balance between comfort and flirtatious behavior, the hiking earlier that morning demanded something else. Instead, she had chosen to go with a set of jeans. Her hair had been left quite as it was too as it was down just below her mid back. Before she could make it far into the forest though, she felt a very peculiar form of energy. Thanks to some of the abilities she had mastered, she could easily feel and tell who was nearby and where. It seemed her dad, for some reason, had decided to forego his nerdy ways, even if for a few hours. It was rare enough that she finally got to see him. She did not quite recall but it could have easily been a year or maybe more since they last saw each other. In any case, she walked at a steady pace towards his location, relatively standard smile on her face.

Zaria's appearance

It was definitely one of those days for this particular Saiyaness; she was sorting through miscellaneous thoughts that weren't related to food or fighting and the reality that she was dangerously unfamiliar with the planet she had decided to take residence upon dawned upon her.

On one hand, exploring unfamiliar territory was an exciting idea, but on the other hand, it was potentially terrifying and meant that she might be next door to death just like she was in her younger days. Actually, that was exciting in its own way as well. The anticipation of meeting strong foes on the way towards the mountain path was, in and of itself, exciting - but to think that each planet she had passed through, a home she knew little to nothing about still called to her like combat did.

Rumours had been passed down through the grape vine that were rather inconsistent concerning her home planet. Some said it had been destroyed by the tyrant, Frieza. Others claimed it was locked in a war for dominance over the planet against the Planetary Trade Organization. Whichever was the case, a return to her roots as a Saiyan would not be possible until she had acquired a spaceship and even then, if she hoped to become a warrior that would erase the shame of her low class birth, she would need to become much, much stronger.

Her quest for additional garments had left her without any real results. She had decided to stick with the usual loose green tank top that exposed the silky smooth skin of her navel, coupled with a pair of green sweat pants that hugged her hips graciously. Fortunately, the placement of her tail was a bit higher so she had not had to alter them in any drastic way, leaving her tail free to swing from side to side as she walked up the mountain range, away from any premise of a civilized society.

Her intentions for the day were such that the rugged terrain beneath the black soles of her martial arts shoes were more than suitable. When she decided to take a break underneath a tree out in the middle of nowhere, her nap lasted for all of fifteen minutes when a dinosaur's roar interrupted her nap. Her charcoal eyes opening with a nasty glare set in them, she reached out and grabbed the prehistoric creature's throat. Unappreciative of its noisy declaration of making her its meal, closing her fingers in, she broke its windpipe before she put her other fist right through its chest after lowering it down to her level, tearing out its heart.

With a beating organ that oozed blood in her hand, she chose to close her hand, squeezing and crushing the organ. The dinosaur immediately fell limp in the vice grip of her hand and Zharia proceeded to tear it apart piece by piece, continuing her journey while munching on raw dinosaur. How long had it been since she had eaten off the land and tasted blood? Far too long. She had been living in Hercule City and things there were rather peaceful save for the occasional mugging or bank robbery, but those were small time punks and barely worth the Saiyaness' notice.

Not wishing to put her name out there like the Z fighters, she mostly kept to herself, barring visiting the gym or a local dojo and the occasional small time unsanctioned tournament in an underground arena. Martial Arts, she believed the humans called it, had become something of a passion for her. She devoted her days to it, her nights to it. Everything felt so natural to her - almost like a second Planet Vegeta, except with more green and varied species that lacked the stench of the Planetary Trade Organization.

As she continued to walk up hill, Zharia came upon a small pond. Not too long ago, she had finished off eating the dinosaur with the tail that was pretty much all that remained of the prehistoric meal. Cupping her hands together, Zharia dipped her hands into the water, taking what she could of the water to drink, getting the idea that she should probably wash the blood off her hands and what small bit of it that had landed on her green tank top. The idea was quickly refined into taking her clothes off and skinny dipping into the small pond for a make-shift bath.

Zharia wasn't concerned with what else surrounded the pond. So much for the danger of the beasts of the wild. Soaking in the cool water seemed to relax her sore muscles, but not as effectively as a hot spring bath or a nice soak in a barrel of hot water would have, but it was fine for the time being. Dripping with water, Zharia rose from the pond, making her way back over to her clothes.

At this point, she figured her options were two-fold; get into clothes that were dry while she was dripping wet or rest on the river bank and let the sun dry her - maybe she'd even manage to catch a tan. Conveniently, a sabre-toothed tiger crossed her path while she was letting herself dry by the river bank - perhaps she had been sunbathing in his territory and she had attracted him with her scent? Whatever the case, she was not fond of interruptions so she put the striped beast into a head lock before she twisted and snapped its neck, granting it a quick and relatively painless death as respect from one predator to another.

With the pre-historic beast dead, she stripped it of its fur using a nearby sharp rock. To on lookers - if there were any, she realised she may have looked like a naked cave woman, with a monkey tail and scruffy black hair that bared some resemblance to the most notable and underappreciated hero of Earth and her people, Son Goku.

That didn't bother her, though - she was more focused on getting the fur skin off the sabre-tooth and using it as a towel. Drying herself off, she made her way north, putting her clothes back on. Smoke rising from a chimney in the distance seemed odd to her.

"Funny. I didn't think anyone lived up here." she mused to herself out loud.

Upon arriving at the small house, she decided to take a trip around the back, not realising that her garments might have been a striking resemblance to what Son Goku wore before he took off to train a small Indian boy at the end of the last tournament. With a goofy grin on her face that felt all too natural, she waved to the pair and called out, "Hey guys, what's for dinner?" from her hike up the mountain range, she was famished!

“Ha!” shouted the half-Saiyan, thrusting a palm through the air with incredible force, the momentum of his movement and energy rushing forward like a projectile. It rustled the grass and was barely visible in the air, looking like heat waves, for a brief moment before the kiai he had generated crunched against the tree trunk, splitting it in two and sending bits of wood and torn up Earth flying in every direction.

Satisfied with his warm up, he returned to his normal stance and placed his hands on his hips. Something didn’t feel right – not necessarily an energy or anything like that, because he couldn’t feel anything of the sort, but his instincts were leading him with alarm bells ringing.

Of course, since returning home it had just been Gohan by himself, so he wasn’t exactly used to company. But history told him to be careful with any new visitors, and to top off his uncertainty he wasn’t sure if someone was there or he was merely imagining it.

However, utilising his other keen senses, Gohan was able to tell who or what it was. Still facing the log, away from the direction the newcomer was approaching, he lowered his head and closed his eyes as if he was meditating.

With his ears, he heard the steady snap and crunch of twigs and leaves under the individual’s feet, walking at a calm pace, which indicated no stress or aggression in their behaviour. But then, when they were finally close enough, it hit him. The scent. A Saiyan traditionally had stronger senses than a human, and though occasionally Gohan had forgotten his heritage in the past, in this instance it was clearer than it ever had been before. The scent was familiar, warm… it was almost soothing, and was almost a hybrid of two scents Gohan already knew, except it was more mature.

“So, it’s you.” The figure was standing in the clearing with him now, and he hadn’t moved. Gohan just took a deep breath and smiled to himself. “I’ve missed you, Pan.”

Stepping back from the shattered tree trunk, Gohan turned to face his daughter and took in her appearance with that same smile still firmly on his face. Longer hair, the same red shirt and jeans, his little girl was different but… the same.

It was almost as if his feet moved of their own accord, closing the gap between his daughter and himself. There was almost a chance of Pan knocking him out, but he ignored that risk and stood in front of her, still smiling down at her. For now, there was something very important that he had to say to her.

Extending a hand, he placed it on her long, flowing black hair on the top of her head and sighed. “I’m so, so sorry Pan. When I heard about dad and mum I kind of took a step back, and looked at my life. I realised I was doing something that my mother forced me into, I never really had a choice. But I wasn’t here, I was away from you and your mother. The two most important things in my life and I was ignoring them for a job my mother wanted me to do? So, Pan…”

Letting his hand fall, his smile grew slightly as his ebony orbs stared into hers. “I quit, I decided that strength of mine? I’m going to get it back. We’re going to be the strongest family in the universe again, and more importantly – I’m going to be a better father to you, and a better husband to my wife.”

Now that his speech was over, his smile faded somewhat. In truth, the half-Saiyan almost expected a deserved right hook. “This is your home, and it’s kinda lonely here with just me. I know you’re all grown up but I’d love it if you lived here again… Training would sure be more efficient if my amazing daughter was here to help,” Gohan said with a prideful wink.

The offer stood, but something had kept up on Gohan without him noticing. In truth, he had been completely focused on his daughter, and it wasn’t like something bad was going to interrupt them. After all, that wouldn’t make much sense. Even in Gohan’s current state he was no slouch, and there was something about the way his daughter held herself, he could tell she had grown in more ways than one in their time apart. It was likely she was stronger than he was now.

Raising a hand, he placed it on Pan’s shoulder and looked to their immediate right. “Wait a second,” he said softly, ears listening intently as he stared down the road that snaked between their house and the forest itself. Sure enough, a figure emerged into full view with no intent on hiding. It was strange, to see someone casually walking towards them like this, and because of the distance, the outfit and the hair, for a moment Gohan could have misjudged who she was.

“F… father?” he asked in disbelief, before shaking his head and focusing. No, of course not, you idiot. That’s a woman, the half-breed thought to himself as her gender became obvious, walking into focus.

"Hey guys, what's for dinner?" The newcomer asked.

“Uh, hello,” Gohan began, instinctively stepping between Pan and the stranger, even though he was fully aware she didn’t need his protection it wasn’t like he consciously thought about it. Wait, Gohan had been distracted by her hair and he had failed to notice her tail.

“You’re a Saiyan? What’s your story? You’ll have to forgive me but not many Saiyan’s casually make their way up to my home, it’s a little too out of the way for that.” Those black orbs of his analysed her appearance and likeness to his father. “You look like you’ve been practicing Martial Arts… So, what do you want? If you’re not planning any mischief I’ll happily shout you dinner. But, well… I guess that decision is up to my daughter,” Gohan said. Considering she was an adult now, he stepped aside and folded his arms, looking down to her with a small smirk.

This was the first time Gohan had casually given Pan final say in a choice like this, and if there was ever proof that he was willing to take her seriously as an adult and live and train with his daughter, this was it.

The more she walked deeper into the forest, the more she felt like an eerie feeling came over her. It was not necessarily a bad feeling but it would definitely not be her first choice had she been able to chose. For quite a good while, she had already figured out the source and the identity of the energy she sensed with her ability. Chances were however that, for the first time, though part of her felt some kind of natural excitement, she hoped she was wrong about her ideas. But alas, she was not.

Getting past the last hurdle of vegetation, the clear made it obvious, now by sight, that Pan was indeed with her father. Almost like a nervous artist on its first acting day, Pan just stood still not knowing what to do. She was a bit odd when it came to displaying emotions. With her family, she was usually rather cold. She disliked to show too much affection. Not because she did not love them though; it was just the way she was. Strangely enough, with friends and acquaintances she was quite different as she was most often doted as being very sweet, amicable and caring with others.

As soon as her dad started to speak, she widened her eyes as she had feared all along what he was wanting to say. Oh lord, she thought to herself as started to speak. Choosing to say nothing, she remained quiet as she listened to all he had to say. All throughout, while truly paying attention to what he said, she brought her lips down hard against her lower one, making an expression that showed as if she was fascinated by his words. Its not that she was being bored or bothered though. it was not that she did not enjoy her father's words. Instead, it was the nature of the things he was saying. He was being all caring and loving, and considerate and father- like. Yea, it was a good thing. But still. It was almost like watching a sibling be overly friendly and nice when experience dictated they were assholes. In fact, it was actually just like listening to a tale from an old man that, though believing he was saying the story for the first time, had actually retold the same thing so many times that those listening could probably recite it back to him.

Pretty much, she was feeling kind of embarrassed. It had nothing to do with the way her father was in specific though. Most girls she knew that had at least a few things in common with her would find themselves to be rather embarrassed if their father all of a sudden began acting as weird as hers was. Perhaps it was not weird at all though… but to Pan, it certainly was. "Yea... sure dad," said Pan trying to put that bit of the conversation behind them as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessary awkwardness between them. He would have felt different of course, but she rather not talk in such way with him; she was not a little girl anymore. In any case, her tone was not one of disbelief or belittle. She was just genuinely using a tone of voice that indicated she believed what he said… but at the same time wanted him to be done with it already.

Then, once she thought all the awkwardness had passed, the worse would come to pass. Her father looked at her in that way that made her cringe while a hand was placed on her shoulder. Oh god, oh no, oh no, oh no. In her mind, she truly hoped what she thought would happen did not. She could almost see it then. She could imagine the day changing to look as if it was a perpetual sunset, with her dad giving her a cheesy and warm smile as waves of water crashed behind him. Cringing just a little more, she seemed to regain her composure when he spoke and looked elsewhere. It had crossed her mind but they were pretty much at home. In her travel throughout the forest, it seemed like she had deviated enough in her way to the point where she had been heading home unconsciously. It was the first time something like that had happened to her, but it was okay.

As soon as she caught wind of the situation, she was finally made aware, both by sight and her ability that there was someone else in the vicinity Though it held some resemblance to her grandfather, she knew very well it was not from the very beginning. If the fact that their ki signatures were completely different was not enough, then perhaps the fact she had a pair of boobs about as big as hers would do the trick. Dinner... Pan thought to herself as she listened to the woman. Even before she finally saw the tail, the woman's behavior definitely indicated she was not from around there.

Just like that though, and before she could see or question anything else, her dad seemed to get in her way. Heck, how things were currently, it was Pan who could protect him much better than he could guard her. Still, she liked that he was courageous enough to try. Shoving her dad to the side some, Pan walked forward towards the lady. Her dad was saying some things, neither of which were very... cool, to say it nicely. "Just stay here dad," she told Gohan before he said something else that would make her blush in embarrassment. "Yo hot buns, who are you?" There were hardly any times where Pan would doubt saying what she really meant to say and that time was no different. It was no secret that her rather unorthodox behavior made her act in very unexpected ways in different situations but that was just the way she was. As she talked, Pan continued to walk towards the lady, being likely just about five or seven feet at most away from her.

Grumbling by his daughters embarrassing antics, Gohan supressed the urge to grit his teeth and strode forward past the quarter-Saiyan, walking up to Zharia and glaring at her. “Sorry but, whatever you’re selling…”

The orange-clad man grabbed her wrist and turned his heel, dropping his weight and swinging her up into the air. “We don’t want any!” he shouted after her as she was thrown off of their mountain.

Taking a deep breath, he brushed his hands off like it was a job well done and frowned at his daughter. “You need to use your head more, what do you think, approaching someone randomly like that? You’re far too trusting. I’m going to go make dinner,” he waved a rather bored hand through the air and made his way away from his daughter back to their house, already thinking of what delicious foods awaited him.

“Maybe I’ll have surf and turf. I feel like some good restaurant quality food!”
