The morning was just arriving as the sun peaked his head to the world. Brick had just risen from the small cavern he spent camping in the night before. It had been a cold bitter night, one that stung his flesh and humbled him without hesitation. But Brick didn't complain, he didn't wavier his decision to torture himself like that. It was a necessary pain. A pain that had to endured. It was the kind of pain that would have damned a normal man. But Brick was no normal soul. He was a fighter, a warrior. Least he believed himself to be, both in his heart and his mind. Brick didn't waste much time finding breakfast, climbing to the very top of the tallest tree he could find just to pick the highest hanging apple on it. Brick was a determined being. He was always pushing himself, making everything, even the most simple mundane things a difficult challenge. So when he climbed down the tree, Brick made a point to throw the apple back in the air and race back up the tree to grab it before it fell to the ground. The throw had been incredible and Brick had reached the very top of the tree way before the apple started its descend. The apple came down in Brick's out-reaching hand with a plop and a moment later Brick took a big bite of it, satisfying his hunger for the moment. After climbing back the tree, Brick strolled the arena, eating his apple down to the core. Having no need for the thing, Brick tossed the core behind his back, causing it to hit a rock a few yards away. Having craved his need to eat, Brick decided it was time to get down to the business. The whole purpose of this little adventure was to train. And train he shall. First came the running. Brick sped through the mountainous landscape, darting through trees and bushes with ease. Brick never went a day without trying to improve his cardio and speed. Ever since he was an orphan kid on the streets, he always held true to this philosophy. For anyone could throw a punch but it took a skilled individual to dodge one. Brick was a blur, zipping through the area, forcing himself to pick up the pace with every step. Time seemed not to exist to Brick as he continued to run for miles and miles. A light sweat forming across his forehead, telling him that he wasn't doing this half-heartedly. Brick ran till his legs cried out for death and his chest ached like a thousands swords thrusting into it. His breath was harsh and short, begging him to stop for air. But Brick didn't quit. He kept going. He had to. If he ever expected to be looked upon in the same light as the notorious Z Fighters, this was his price to pay. Brick had nearly traveled half the entire distance of Mount Paozu when he finally decided to stop. Looking up at the sun and it's position, Brick figured it must have been a hour since he started his run. A few months ago, that would have been impossible but in the present, Brick was already surpassing his own expectations. Yet this still wasn't enough. Long distance Sprinting was child's play compared to what he really wanted to do. Searching the area, Brick hardly gave himself time to catch his breath as he frantically looked for something to sink his teeth into. Spotting a Sabretooth Cat in the near distance, a smug smirk appeared on his face. This was not exactly the challenge he was looking for, but for now it would do. Approaching the animal quietly, Brick prepared to make his move. A second later, Brick jumped out in front of the feline, both scaring and confusing the prey. Brick wasted no time, pouncing on the Sabretooth Cat, locking his arms around the creature, wrestling it to the ground. The creature was strong, trying its best to scratch, bite and claw out of Brick's grasp but Brick had hardly no trouble keeping the animal pinned to the ground. Brick couldn't help himself from laughing. The enjoyment of dominating such a feeble creature was just too much. Yet still it wasn't enough. And so after proving his ability to wrestle a Sabretooth Cat with ease, Brick stood up to his feet and kicked the animal in the rear-end. The cat tried to lash back, lunging at Brick's throat but a stiff uppercut to the animal's own throat sent the poor thing flying into the air and disappearing somewhere in the blue sky. Another chuckle escaped Brick's lips. The sound of a Pteranodon circling above him quickly grabbed Brick's attention. Looking up to where the creature flew, Brick immediately zoned in on his next target. Flying up towards the flying dinosaur, the Pteranodon was met with a stiff uppercut as well. The creature was stunned as Brick simply laughed and grappled with the poor thing. The Pteranodon tried its best to fight Brick off but Brick held on with a deathgrip and soon the flying creature was making a nosedive down into the land below. Brick didn't let go, squeezing tighter as he nearly choked the life out of the flying beast. It wasn't till the very last second did Brick finally let go of the creature, flying back in the air a few feet as he watched the gigantic bird hit the ground with a loud THUD! Brick then charged after the dinosaur as he drove his fist into its cranium, causing a small crater to form around the beast's head. Brick probably just killed the creature but he didn't care. The creature was a necessary sacrifice. It was for the good of Brick's development. How could he ever be as great as the Z Fighters if he couldn't even beat up on old dinosaur? Yet beating up animals was no feat for a warrior to be consuming his time over. This was a mere fool's errand. Brick needed more. He wanted more. He was going to get more. But where? How? This was the question. This was the question he strongly believed he would always ask himself. And truthfully, Brick believed he never would get that answer. Thus, he would continue to train and push himself to no end. This was his fate. This was his destiny. TWC: 1073 Words |
