King of the furries?" she thought to herself as she skipped her way through the sidewalk. It was still a couple hours before noon so there was hardly anyone on the streets. As a regular work day in a rather busy city, most people were likely at their job. Still, the idea of a furry king did make her giggle a little. She knew he was the king of the planet but the name always seemed funny to her. In either case however, the New Red Ribbon Army had ordered her to go into the city. The reasoning or the mission however had not been made clear to her; it rarely was. But, for as long as she could remember, she never questioned them. They were just so nice to her!

In her programming, she had the vague flashbacks of memories of a village, and of being very young looking. That however was barely a haze in her memory and she thought of it as a malfunction of hers. As long as she knew, the Red Ribbon loved her and took care of her ever since they saved her and repaired her. They told her they had repaired her and saved her when she first awoke in their lab a few years back. Ever since, they had taken care of her, giving her money and time to play, have fun, and get candy. Sometimes she had to do bad things she did not like but the NRRA said it needed to be done. And, if the people at the NRRA were good, surely those they did not like had to be bad. Whenever her memories got stronger however she was supposed to let them know so they could update and fix her more. No biggie though. She would probably find out about her mission soon.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Yelling at the top of her lungs, arms outstretched behind her, she ran as fast as she could. In fact, rather than legs, the speed made it seem as though she actually had a fan of sorts down there.

"Hey!" called out a barber that came out of his shop rather shocked, "No running in the street."

Turning to see him, Arale took a big jump, "Sorry!" With that big goofy smile of hers, Arale continued to move extremely fast. This time however, rather than running, it was her long jump that carried her at fast speeds almost as if hovering. Facing the other way however, she could not look at where she was going.

The cyborg soldier Sol let out a big yawn as he stood in line for a catering van. Having only arrived in central city after a rather long and fruitless mission scouring Yunzabit Heights for any sign of the red ribbon army he needed to fly back to central city to report on it. Even for a complete cyborg skipping out on sleep was tiring. He had to meet up with his superiors in only a few hours’ time so sleep was out of the question but at least he could get some breakfast at last.

“Hey can I get the breakfast roll.”

“Sure that’ll be 500 zenni.”

“Yeah, here you go.”

“Thanks.”

The cyborg handed over the zenni and grabbed the roll from the giraffe-like caterer, as he walked off with breakfast in hand. With not much else to do for the moment, he took a bite out of the roll and decided to walk he cyborg decided to just walk around central city. He barely ever gets the chance to just walk around a relatively peaceful city.

Suddenly as he reached a four road junction, blur of white and purple practically flew past him the sheer force of wind created pull the half eaten sandwich out of his hand. The roll slammed into a building wall to his left at such a force that it looked closer to a pancake glued to a wall. Saying nothing the cyborg looked down to his sandwich with looking almost offended by chance of it all.

Taking a few steps forward the cyborg soldier decided to find out just what destroyed his breakfast. Only to be utterly bewildered to see some goof ball running backwards while she pretended to be a plane, the thing he couldn’t detect her battle power so was she even there? The cyborg looked back and forth to the opposite ends of the city just to check if he was the only one to see her. Judging from the reaction of a barber he could be fairly certain he wasn’t seeing things.

The strangeness of the situation alone warranted further investigation but the fact she had no clear power level he could sense made it a priority. She was either incredibly adept at hiding it like Chichi or some kind of android like himself. The former seemed more likely as she didn’t really match his idea of any kind of red ribbon or black bow army creation.

With the mysterious girl nearly vanished Sol decided to fly after her, it was only when he got in speaking distance that he realized he had no idea what to say to her. As a cyborg he wasn’t really keen on it, when people walked up to him and asked ‘yo are you a robot?’ but it seemed like the best thing to ask. None the less he decided to ask the second best thing, even then he blanked half way through.

“Uh hey there sorry but…..who are you?”

Largely oblivious to almost anything and everyone around her, she had actually not even noticed bumping into someone... let alone dropping their breakfast roll. She was simply having too much fun. Sliding in mid air at such speeds and maintaining her eyes fixed at a certain spot made her go somewhat wobbly and hazy and it was just fun! In fact, had she not been talked to when she did, she would have probable ended up hitting someone else by accident.

"Eeeeeeeeh?"

She was shocked she had been talked to. Then again she was also shocked she had not noticed the person. Had she only known about the other people she had passed...

"I'm Arale of course!" she said happily, jumping a good easy ten meters upward into the air. The way she said it however was almost as if she was Arale, naturally Arale. "You're a robot aren't you mister?" She had asked him without hesitation, without feeling bad or being nervous whatsoever.

She did not mean anything specifc by it however. He simply had no energy signature just like her so it was good assumption. She did not know someone like him worked for the Red Ribbon as well so she felt like it was a fitting question. Fitting or not however, as she talked asked him, she got a hand into the space between her suspenders and her top, and opening a pouch of assorted chocolate, positioned it in a way where the guy could grab some should he want any.

“Oh!”

The cyborg said in response to Arale’s immediate and absolutely certain reply. It was only when she suddenly jumped into the air that he realized that knowing her name didn’t really answer real questions at all. The cyborg kept a consistent pace as the android girl descended back to the ground, at this point he was more focused on Arale then he was his surroundings.

On hearing her ask the very question he avoided asking, the cyborgs face contorted embarrassed frown. It turned out he had no reason not to ask her if she was a robot in the first place, he’d took the whole thing too seriously.

“Not exactly, I’m a cyborg. How about yourself?”

On seeing her offer him some chocolate, the cyborg decided to take some, his breakfast had been cut short after all. Reaching forward Sol took a small chocolate bar from her suspenders pouch.

“Oh thanks.”
