The three wanderers were currently on a bounty mission for an organization named Limitless in the middle of a forested ground that was littered with rebellious soldiers.

The organization they worked were known as Limitless, and they were a side group who were hired by the Black Bow Army. They consisted of the beautiful Estrella Divina, the ferocious Commander Seifer, and the suspicious, wise cracker Troy. The trio were on a test. It was a test to show their worth to the organization they worked for and who were also a side.

"I still don't see why the fuck we have to be with this stupid ass. He will just get in the way." Her eyes shifted to Troy who was busy tending to the rocks on the ground.

Seifer worked on building a tent while he listened to his wife comment about the chicken wuss they had to work with. He didn't like the weasel any better than she did. He wanted to send his gunblade through the wuss' chest, but as the squad leader, he had to keep him around.

"Neither do I. I'd kill him, but we got use out of him. We'll just use him as a bullet shield." He smirked at her cockily.

She placed a friendly smile upon her face when she saw how Seifer looked over at her when she commented on his tent making skills. He placed a barely noticeable smirk upon his face when he finished building it. He probably thought of himself as the best tent builder ever. She knew that was just how he was. Considering he was attempting to be the bad ass commander, she found it funny that he barely acknowledged her question. Eventually, she would get him to crack a smile as she usually had, but until that time she would continue to poke at him when she could. Soon after her comment, the tent was finished. He was able to place up the tent in a matter of minutes. The main problem was that she noticed how the tent only fit two people. Since it wasn't night time yet, she decided to leave that dilemma for later because she didn't want to spark another fight between Seifer and Troy.

Meanwhile, Troy had placed his stuff onto the ground. He removed the long stick that he had strapped to his back and placed it on the ground next to him. It was his primary weapon of choice. Seeing that Estrella was resting on the rock and Seifer had finished the tent, he walked over to the two of them. He had finished leaving his stuff safely on the floor. He inspected the area, and as he expected, Seifer had made a smart choice. The empty grass field was a great place to relax before the battle they were supposed to head into the next morning.

"Hey Commander, is there anything I can help you with?" Troy had his hands placed in his pocket as he asked. He wasn't expecting a kind response, yet he needed to suck in his pride for the sake of the team. Basically, he had put himself in a bad position to get made fun of.

"You can start by not being such chicken wuss." He rose to his full height after the tent was completed. His head turned over to watch what Estrella was doing. The second he had given a smart ass response he heard Estrella laugh. He smirked to himself again because he prided himself on being the best at everything including being humorous. He also liked the fact that he got the best out of Troy. The Chicken Wuss definitely deserved it. Until they were back at the base, Troy would have no other choice, but to be bullied by Seifer. He was after all the disciplinarian of the group.

She chuckled at Seifer's response because Troy had walked straight into that comment.

"You walked straight into that Troy." Just as she laughed, her stomach growled. Immediately, she touched her tummy. Had it been that long since she had eaten? She glanced up at Seifer who had heard her stomach growl. His eyes were on her which suddenly made her feel uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed.

"Are you hungry?" Seifer asked.

Troy had also looked over at her. He further Seifer's concern with a question of his own.

"If you were hungry Estrella, why didn't you tell us?" He said rather seriously.

Seifer wanted to smack Troy across the back of the head, but he kept his cool.

She remained seated on the boulder and noticed how the two of them appeared to be interrogating her. If she had known that her stomach growling would cause this much drama she would have eaten something before she left the base.

"I am hungry, but it's not that big of a deal. Really." The situation wasn't as serious as they were trying to make it seem. She understood Seifer's concern, but why was Troy interested in her well being. He had nothing to do with her except the fact that he was part of their squad. It was quite irritating as well. AS tough as she wanted to appear, the both of them were babying her.

"I'm going fishing." Seifer didn't waste another second arguing and had barely acknowledged what Estrella had said because as soon as she had mentioned she was hungry, that was all he needed to know. Right after he had gotten her response, he reached for his gunblade and started gathering some supplies to go to the nearest pond.

"Shall I go to Commander?" Troy asked because he wanted to seem helpful.

"No, I don't want you to slow me down. Estrella, make sure you watch over this Chicken Wuss. I'm counting on you." He nodded at her making her the next one in charge. He didn't trust Troy and didn't think he was capable of doing anything.

"You don't want me to come Seifer?" She didn't want him to go alone either.

Seifer looked at her again when she had asked.

"I need someone to watch over the camp just stay here and gather your strength. Besides, if you go, then I have to take Chicken Wuss with me." He tried to make it seem like he was giving her a responsibility, but what he really meant was that she was much safer at the camp which is what he was more concerned about. There was no telling what was out in the woods. It wasn't that he didn't believe she was capable, but he had always considered himself more efficient alone when it came to certain missions.

"Alright, just be careful. Make sure you catch me a big fish because I am really hungry. I don't want any ugly fish either yuck." She knew there was more to what he was saying, therefore, she masked it with her usual complaining. Despite feeling a bit bad that he had yet to trust her full capabilities, she didn't want to start an argument today. If it were any other day, she would definitely voice her displeasure. She watched him walk off. When he had left her line of sight, she lay on the grass. She hadn't noticed that Seifer had motioned for Troy to follow him into the woods.

Seifer tried not to smirk again after she had complained as she usually had. Grabbing the stuff he needed, he started off to where he knew the pond was. He caught sight of Estrella laying herself on the ground. Then, waving over to Troy, he signaled him over.

Troy followed closely behind Seifer after he was signaled over. He was quite surprised that he was being called over by Seifer. Was he going to get punched? He hoped not.

"Did you have a change of heart?" Troy asked because Seifer may not have been a good fisherman. However, that was not the case. Instead, he was surprised by what he was told next.

"No, I am going alone. You watch over her or else I'll make sure you don't live to see another day." He warned.

"But you said..." Troy questioned Seifer's motives, but was soon silenced when Seifer glared at him menacingly.

"You might not even live right now if you keep questioning me. Don't question your commander and just do what you're told." Glaring at Troy one last time, he walked off to where the pond was.

"Yes, sir Commander." Troy gulped anxiously from the psychotic man he constantly had to encounter. After Seifer had left, he made his way back to the camp where Estrella lay on the grass. He wondered how she felt about this type of thought process from Seifer.

Both Estrella and Troy were left alone at the camp. They could do nothing until Seifer had returned. After Seifer had left, she remained laying on her back on the grass. She wasn't pleased by how Seifer had left her with a man she disliked. She may have been in charge of Troy as far as Seifer had commanded, but that had not meant Troy would annoy her any less. There was a span of peace for two minutes until the inevitable occurred. Troy has broken the silence.

Though Troy wished he could have gone with Seifer to help further please Estrella, he saw this alone time with Estrella as a golden opportunity to dig into her thoughts. She was an adventurous woman, and he could certainly tell she wasn't easily controlled. His ultimate advantage would be to poke at the cracks that may have formed from those who lacked faith in her abilities. The reason she was in this field test was obvious. She was a woman with a lot of mountains to climb before anyone had truly become afraid of her.

Once he got close to her, he sat down on the grass. He already knew how to start the conversation.

"He should be back in no time. I don't think any enemies would be foolish enough to attack him. Nooo sir. I'd almost feel sorry for the enemy if he messed with the commander. He is a very scary man" Troy watched Estrella roll to her side as he had spoken. She must have been uncomfortable with the conversation, but why? He waited a couple of seconds. If he were to get some information from her, he'd definitely be patient.

When she heard Troy speak, she scoffed at his comment. It was not because what he said wasn't true. It was because she didn't want to have a conversation with him. Nevertheless, she spoke with hope that he would focus his attention elsewhere.

"Seifer will no doubt kill with no hesitation. I know how he is. When we go into battle tomorrow, he will show the entire world what he is capable of. I just don't think an entire rebel army will stand a chance tomorrow. I'll probably just stick back and watch the show..." Her voice sounded proud at first, yet towards the end it softened to a whisper. She hadn't noticed Troy's triumphant smirk.

Troy had sensed a slight twinge of disappointment when she mentioned watching the show. Like a snake, he would begin to inject his venomous manipulation into her mind. He wanted to support her, but at the same time question her for more information. The information he gathered would be invaluable to the cause he fought for. Everything he had done to this point was for his rebel comrades.

"The commander is excellent. I've seen him in training. He is just this scary presence. You definitely should be proud of him. As for us, we will see some action tomorrow. You'll get to prove to the world what you can do." He pushed at her with optimism, but it had done nothing to her grim facial expression. It almost seemed as if she wanted to open up to him just so he'd leave her alone. He wasn't about to do that though. Therefore, he waited and studied her.

The optimism in Troy's voice disgusted her because no one was ever that happy all the time. Not to mention, she hated the fact that she had spoken to him at all. Despite her inner hatred for Troy, his words at hit home. Tomorrow would be a day where she had a chance to prove herself. She desperately wanted to show her worth to the company. Though she had the skills, that wasn't the problem. The problem was getting Seifer to not help her in her mission tomorrow. She knew how he was because of all the missions they had accomplished together. He had trusted her for the most part, but there had always been a need for him to be protective. As years had gone by, she noticed it more.

She could not blame Seifer for being concerned about her safety. She understood it perfectly because she too felt the same for him. It took a lot of convincing, before this mission, to explain to him that she was prepared to be a part of Limitless. Since the day that they had gotten married, he did not see it necessary for her to put herself in danger like she had done in the past. He did not want that as her lifestyle any longer. This was because he thought of himself as the one responsible to take care of both of them. The fights they had in the past were repetitive. She constantly explained that she was well capable of helping him out. However, it never seemed to hit home with him. It was because he saw of himself as her knight, and the one to keep her from harm. Not only was he her knight, but he was her husband too. This need for her to prove her worth, and Seifer's wish for her to stay out of harm's way were the differences in opinion that brought uncertainty tp her mind about the battle ahead.

For some reason, Troy's words had her doubt that Seifer would trust her enough to fight alongside him. Seifer would no doubt conjure a plan that would make her feel involved, yet out of danger's way. He had been thrifty like that in the past. They had been on countless adventures together, and she knew him all too well. His need for her to be safe because of his duty as a husband and her knight clouded his judgement.

The optimistic nature of Troy burned into her mind again. His happiness and naive attitude bothered her because it seemed like nothing phased him especially after all the times Seifer had embarrassed him. She had begun to wonder if it was all an act. However, as he spoke about Seifer and his incredible feats, she had become self conscious about what Troy had mentioned about Seifer. Seifer was definitely the best around.

"Ya, he is the best around. I've known him a very long time, and he could probably take out the whole army by himself without so much as an ounce of remorse. He is amazing like that. Lets just say he isn't afraid of anyone or anything. " She smiled a bit when she thought of all the enemies Seifer had defeated. Some of the enemies he had defeated included him laughing as they died. The ability to stare an enemy in the face and laugh was something she admired about him because it meant he was fearless. He was not afraid of anything. Then her smile faded when she realized the same would happen tomorrow where all of them had to prove their worth especially her. While she was the only white magic specialist in Limitless, it didn't guarantee her worth.

"He won't want us to get in his way tomorrow so if you think you're going to see action, you will be disappointed. I doubt you'll be smiling like you are now either because he is going to want to hurt you if you keep being a dumb ass. As for me, I also doubt I'll have a chance to prove myself." She rose to her feet and sat herself back upon the rock from earlier. When she mentioned a minor insecurity, she hadn't seen that Troy smirked to himself because he had planned on digging more into her thoughts. Why was she even speaking to him? Subconsciously, it was because she wanted to release the stressful insecurities she had lurking inside her heart.

Troy had definitely enjoyed probing at Estrella's mindset. He watched her as she spoke about Seifer. He also noticed how her facial expressions changed throughout their conversation. Like a good, unwanted friend, he waited patiently until she was finished speaking. It was when she mentioned how proving herself would be doubtful that he had jumped in to pick at her insecurities.

"I'm sure Seifer trusts you enough to kick ass... like I do. I mean he left you in charge of the camp while he was gone and not to me. I've seen how good you are with the long bow. You're probably the best I have seen in the entire land ." He nodded. His lie about the camp was exactly the reason Estrella may have felt like Seifer had not trusted in her abilities. Seifer was overprotective which was an admirable quality, and this need for Estrella to be safe was seen when Seifer asked Troy to watch over her. Her independent nature was likely what Seifer feared. The more he talked with Estrella the more he liked what he heard because it meant his future plans, whatever they were, would succeed.

When Troy spoke about Seifer's trust in her abilities, he noticed she turned her attention away from him. It was almost as if she wanted to avoid the conversation altogether, yet she could not help herself because she wanted that reassurance that she had a chance to prove herself in battle.

"Besides, you're a rare beauty..what I mean is you're a white magic specialist. I haven't seen anyone be able to do with white magic like what you have learned to do. Seifer has no reason not to trust you. Why would you say something like that? Is there something I'm missing?" He waited patiently for her to answer. Telling by how open up she was, he totally expected her to respond with the truth.

While sitting upon the large rock, she picked at the grass because she sensed the conversation going to a place she had not wanted it to go. Furthermore, it was with a person she refused to take seriously. However, when he had asked her why she had mentioned not getting any action, she peered up at him to respond. It was her subconscious accepting this man's ear and trusting his attention. Though he may not have understood her situation, he was the only one who had bothered to ask.

"I don't think I need to spell it out for you why I feel the way I do. You've gotten enough warning as it is. No matter how capable I am. It won't help." She touched the red cross like ring she had on her finger. Then she played around with it. She wasn't as clear with her response, and she had no clue as to what else Troy would want. Having hatred for other people, she had no intention of saying more to him.

Troy watched her movements closely. The mannerisms of picking at the grass, playing with her ring, and avoiding eye contact made him realize she was at a sentimental place while she spoke. He already knew what troubled her, and it hadn't surprised him that she neglected to spell it out for him. Therefore, he decided to state the obvious. Not only would he state the obvious, but he'd question it too. There was no doubt that she told the truth because he had seen it. Nevertheless, he wanted to create friction and sensitivity in her mind.

"He is over protective right? You want to earn your own place in Limitless. I get it. Ah, he wouldn't be the first man to be like that. Frankly, I don't blame the guy...but I haven't seen anything our of the ordinary. If he was overprotective, he wouldn't have left you alone with me. He trusts you enough. He even left you in charge." Troy almost snickered at his lie, but he managed to keep it together. He paced slowly around the rock that Estrella sat on. He made sure to keep his distance though. Knowing her temperament, she could easily become angry and refuse to share more of her story with him.

"It's no secret how skillful you are. Don't you think you're overthinking it too much? " He questioned her. It may have appeared he had no personal intentions, but he did. For Estrella, it was impossible to tell what his motive truly was.

Suddenly, she had become uncomfortable. Troy was blunt about his analyzation towards her dilemma with Seifer. She had not expected that he would spell it out as he had. What further bothered her was that he seemed to not believe her theory. She narrowed her angering eyes. Did he think she was lying? After everything Seifer had done to the dumb ass that morning, it was like he had forgotten. Rather then retort in a weakened demeanor, she straightened her posture and confronted the optimistic fool.

"Listen butthead...I know how he is. He is overprotective. Besides I don't even know why I'm telling you this. You're too stupid to notice anyway" Her tone of voice was one of sarcasm. Once she let her irritated mood known, she folded her arms like a brat. The so-called listener was no good at his job especially if he had to question her experiences. For a moment, she felt like she had been tricked into revealing her personal thoughts. Nevertheless, it was at her will that she had let him see another side of her. She made a mental note of it being the last of her the butthead would see.

Troy smirk displayed on his face. Everything she had said he had witnesses. Regardless, he was about to challenge her. He could tell it had been a long time since someone challenged her in what she said. This was no ordinary challenge because it required her to prove her truth. It was likely she'd ignore his request, but gave it a shot anyway.

"I don't believe you. Prove it. I don't think he is how you say he is. He seems normal to me" He shrugged nonchalantly. Seeing her appalled expression, made it twice as fun.

Her mouth gaped open. She glared over at Troy when he had asked her to prove a truth. A part of her wanted to choke him. When she remembered the mission, she tossed the choking image out of her plans.

"Are you saying I'm a liar?" Her voice was both serious and slighlty held back because she wanted to say worse to the useless man before her.

"No" He chuckled and egged her forward. All he needed was some further reasoning to his request so that she would agree to proving her point. It was a game to him.

She was not convinced by his denial of suggesting she was a liar. There was a hint of enjoyment that she sensed in Troy's voice after she had confronted him. He had believed that Seifer was merely looking out for her safety, and it was not as over-the-top as she had made it seem. How had Troy known that? Unlike Troy, she had known Seifer for a very long time. Her experience, being alongside him, had given her that right to know. She clenched her fists at the thought of being called a liar. Furthermore, she disliked the fact that she had given him too much information.

There he was silently waiting for her to reply. He remained composed which further drove her past her breaking point. Her eyes narrowed at him as if she had accepted his challenge. However, she had no idea how to even get Seifer to show his overprotective side. She'd have to put herself in danger which was something she was unwilling to do because of the field test. Rather then go head first into battle, she decided to ask the important question first.

"How do you suggest I even prove this to you! It's not like I am going to get myself into danger. I could probably kill most of the things in this forest anyway." She spoke with confidence. The monsters in the forest couldn't possibly cause her harm because of how strong she was.

Troy smiled wickedly. Tricking her into accepting the challenge, was all part of his twisted plan of getting to know the real Estrella. He liked the fact that she had asked him for his perspective. His plan of attack was simple. As soon as the Commander arrived, Estrella would do some kind of theatrics to get him to react.

"I don't want you getting into danger at all so don't talk like that. I'm no expert at proving that type of stuff, but it shouldn't be too hard. If he is overprotective, there are a number of ways to prove it. Why not act a little? Just use girlish charm." He talked calmly as to not have Estrella over react as she always had.

She stood there and could not believe she was listening to his plan at all. Despite how simple minded and ridiculous his idea was, she would do it. She do some theatrics because she wanted to show him that he was wrong. When it had come to arguments, she was always right. This argument was no different than the ones in the past. In the end, everyone accepted her opinion as the right one.

Troy rose to his feet.

"I'll help you out by leaving you alone for awhile. I'm going to go into the woods and pee. While I am gone, I'll leave you alone to do your acting. Don't worry though. I'll be watching from the bushes. You just make sure to show me what it is that worries you so much. I doubt it's nothing." He put an optimistic smile upon his face. remembering what Seifer had told him before leaving, he was positive that leaving Estrella alone would no doubt piss the commander off. It may have appeared he was looking out for her benefit, but it was more for himself. He had some "people" to communicate with before tomorrow's battle. However, she didn't need to know just yet.

Hearing his suggestion, she arched her eyebrow in curiosity.

"You might get hurt again. I don't think Seifer will like that you left without telling him. He's going to kick your ass." Admitting that his help might be needed, was her way of saying that she would do what he had asked.

Troy laughed at her.

"Don't worry. He can't kill me just yet because he needs me for the mission. Besides, it's not like he will be overly worried if I happened to get lost out in the woods." With that said, he waved to her and walked into the lush, green forested area. He left the forest opening to do what he had told Estrella and to deal with more private affairs.

She glanced away from Troy when he had left and stayed by herself. Her mind was set on how she would act when Seifer returned. How could she get to act like he always had, but more intensely? It was not like she was an actor.

"Finally, that idiot is gone...Ugh, why did I even agree to this? I need to start keeping this private stuff a secret or else it will get me into these messes." She whispered to herself.

Troy traveled into the brush where he was out of sight. His eyes scanned the surrounding area to make sure the coast was clear. Then, reaching into his pocket, he took out his cell phone. He dialed some numbers and placed the phone by his ear. A voice had soon answered to his call. He placed himself behind a tree where he could keep himself from hidden from Estrella and/or Seifer. He did not want them knowing that he was a spy for the rebels who had joined Limitless to infiltrate them from the inside. Basically, he couldn't let Estrella and especially Seifer that he had betrayed them.

Checking if the coast was clear, he covered his mouth to keep his voice from sounding throughout the forest of what he had to say.

"4532 this is Troy Crash. I want to give you some intell on the new recruits. The ones I am with are a married couple. One of them is a rare white, magic user with powerful healing abilities. She is skilled with the long bow, but her real threat is her healing powers. The other one is a tyrannical gun blade wielder. It seems he is being trained to be a future commander. He is very strong and powerful so tomorrow when anyone sees him, we must take him out. His ruthlessness will destroy us all of if we don't take him out. He is the threat. At first glance, it may appear that he has no weakness, but he does..." He smirked to himself because silently he saw their mission being a success. With Seifer's weakness, they were as good as finished. The Limitless organization would not get stronger while he was around.

He sat there letting the person on the other line give him the full details of the plan to take out the recruits that could be the end to the rebels.

"It shall be done Sir. This will be too easy." He closed his flip phone and placed it back on his pocket. The mission was complete in his eyes. Noticing that no one was in the area, he then walked back to where the camp site was. However, just as he had told Estrella, he stayed out of sight. He hid behind the bushes.

"I don't even know how I am supposed to do this." Her Spanish accent sounded heavier because of the nervousness she felt. Troy wanted her to prove to him that Seifer was how she described. However, she had never acted or pretended in order for Seifer to act how he usually had. Standing and waiting for Seifer to return, she glanced over at the bushes where she caught a glimpse of Troy giving her a thumbs up. He then left from behind the bushes to keep her from getting distracted. Why had she listened to the idiot anyway? She knew exactly what would happen if she decided to have Seifer react a certain way to prove her point. Someone would definitely get hurt. In this case, it would be Troy.

Her hands were on her hips when she heard ruffling in the background. She knew right away it was Seifer because she saw the tip of his gun blade. He had returned, but not with fish. Instead, he had a large deer draped over his shoulder. He tossed it onto the ground nearby the camp, but rather then greet him like she usually would, she acted as if she thought he was an enemy.

When she saw Seifer come out of the forested area, she gasped out of surprise as if he were an enemy. Her gasp had his intense gaze look up towards her. Swiftly, he was right in front of her when he caught sight that she looked disturbed by his return.

"Oh, I am sorry Seifer. I thought you were the enemy." She sighed in relief. A part of her felt dumb for acting a certain way. She was never afraid, but since she acted, Seifer thought she may have been. Her fists clenched because she realized she had given into Troy's request. Regardless, she did not want to let Seifer know that she only pretended to be afraid.

Seifer did not say a word because he was looking over her to make sure she was okay. Seeing his wandering eyes, she tried to change subject.

"What happened to the fish Seifer? I mean that is a pretty big fish except..it is a deer." She joked with him then her eyes scanned the area again as if she were worried.

Seifer grinned at her joke.

"I just thought you'd like the deer better." It was more so because he wasn't a good fisherman, but he'd never admit to it. He never had the patience for fishing.

Then, seeing her scan the area, his grin disappeared. His intense stare returned because he had become aware that she was scared. Now he wanted to know why.

"Estrella, what's wrong?" His question demanded an answer.

Estrella disliked the dark situation she had created because of Troy's persistence in wanting to see for himself that Seifer was overprotective of her, thus, limiting her reaching higher ranks in Limitless. Looking up at Seifer and seeing he was prepared to hurt someone or possibly kill, she shook her head at his question to signify that she was alright.

"Nothing, lets go prepare the deer." She said reassuringly. However, he had not bought it. Before she could take a step, he grabbed her arm to keep her from moving. He did not grab her arm hard enough to hurt her, but his hand was gripped tight enough to keep her from leaving his side. She knew that he wanted an answer because he was concerned that someone or something had hurt her. Unfortunately, neither was the case, and so she was forced to lie like Troy wanted her to.

Hesitantly, her eyes looked up towards Seifer's whose eyes were prepared to spill blood shed. The blood shed of the nearest person was at stake. She exhaled and relieved herself of the nervousness that had overcome her. She had remembered that she still had to pass the field exam. With him watching her like a hawk, she would surely fail.

"I am telling you everything is fine Seifer. You know I wouldn't lie to you." She nodded at him reassuringly. Behind the bushes, she saw Troy peaking. Then, when Seifer looked over at the bushes, Troy left the line of sight to avoid being spotted and possibly being killed for intruding on a private moment. She ignored Troy's desperation and focused on Seifer's anger because if she was unable to control it, they could fail the examination before entering the battle the next morning.

Seifer released her arm when he realized that Troy was not in the area. His jaws clenched tightly because he had given specific orders that weren't followed. Being the squad leader and always unfriendly to other teammates, he was irked about how anyone could dare disobey one of his commands.

"Where is that Chicken Wuss?" He had given her a second to respond before noticing her expression had become even more-so nervous than before. He figured that Troy had something to do with her nerves.

"He went to the bathroom. He said he would be back soon. You should let it go." She answered with a lie. In a sense, Troy had told her she was going to the bathroom, but that was ten minutes ago. Troy was definitely finished by now. However, she left out the other details to avoid further angering Seifer.

Seifer grabbed his gun blade and left the deer close by the tent he had built. He started walking away from Estrella and towards the bushes because the answer she had given him had driven him to the breaking point. He wanted to teach the chicken wuss a lesson for disobeying his order while at the same time giving him a beating for the rudeness towards Estrella. In other words, he was about to show Troy was he was the top dog.

"Why is he going to the bathroom near you? I leave you alone with him for 10 minutes ...and that fucker wants to undress around you?" Seifer started his way towards the bushes.

Estrella almost laughed at the question because it was as ridiculous, yet serious as it could get. However, seeing that Seifer meant business, she stepped in front of him and put her hands up to keep him from beating their teammate before the morning's mission. Seifer glared down at her, but mainly because he was angry with Troy. Knowing this, she stayed firm with her position.

"Listen to me Seifer..you can't do this right now. I don't like the son of a bitch either, but if you go after him, you could lose that promotion. We could fail this exam remember?" She tried to reason with him. Seifer glanced around when she had pointed out that they were on the field exam because he was soaking in her words. He contemplated his consequences. Then, unexpectedly, he smirked at her.

"My job as squad leader is to be the leader." He stepped out of line and disobeyed a direct order by leaving the camp and you alone which means I get to discipline him. Stay here. I don't want you getting involved." Seifer walked around her because he was set on his ways. When it came to military missions, especially growing up in balamb garden which was specialized in building up elite soliders, he considered himself the sole leader.

He had not listened to her which meant trouble for Troy. She watched anxiously when Seifer walk around her. Hastily, she spun and followed him despite being told to stay where she was. She could not allow a fight to break out because of Troy's idiotic idea. If it were not for the mission, she would have let the man rot for putting her up to such a disgusting act of fear just to get Seifer to overreact.

Seifer marched into the forest, and Estrella followed after him. She had to speed walk in order to keep up with his explosive steps. He was a man on a mission which meant there was no telling what he would do to Troy. His intensity and need to show Troy who was boss was felt by her trembling insides. She could not allow this situation to escalate further because the mission was tomorrow. They could not afford to fail.

Troy knew about Seifer’s anger about him leaving the camp for two minutes. He heard the entire argument from the bushes he peaked from as he had explained to Estrella he would. After their discussion, he made a run for it to the nearest tree. He hid behind a tree and made it appear as if he were peeing. In the background, he heard Seifer’s steps approaching. He had to prepare himself for the worst. Though he was not afraid of Seifer, he needed to keep calm because his rebellious group were dependent on this mission of dismantling new, more powerful Limitless recruits from passing. He did not want Estrella’s lie to be blatant. While it was true he had gone to the bathroom, he was already finished.

Seifer’s steps were closing in. Hearing Seifer nearby, Troy walked out from behind the tree and raised his hands into the sky. A smile framed his face as if he were happy to see the psychotic menace, but he wasn't. It was all an act.

“Hello, there Se…” He had no time to finish his sentence.

“There you are…” Seifer snatched Troy by the collar and slammed him into the tree. His death sentencing eyes were set on scaring the piss out of Troy. Then he placed his gun blade towards Troy’s neck. It was inches from slicing the freak’s neck and spilling his blood everywhere.

She cringed at how gruesome Seifer was with Troy. Her eyes looked back and forth between the two men. Knowing how Seifer was, she tried to reason with him before it was too late for Troy. They would be down to two members by tomorrow’s mission which meant they would fail the examination.

“Seifer, just let him be. He isn't worth it. You can do this after the mission tomorrow.” Her voice pleaded kindly with him. However, it didn’t work. When she spoke, she noticed that Seifer ignored her by keeping his attention on Troy.

“What did I do wrong Commander?” Troy asked as if here innocent this entire time.

Troy looked frightened. His eyes trailed over to Estrella because he couldn’t stare into the man’s eyes that were as cruel as death.

“Don’t look at her. Look at me.” Seifer slammed Troy into the tree again because he wasn’t getting any answers.

Troy winced at the pain that he had felt come from his spine after being rammed into the tree again. Then he waited for Seifer to explain to him what it was that he had done wrong.

Watching the scene unfold, she could no longer stand by and let their mission go to waste. She decided to sacrifice herself for the dumbass just so she could keep the broken team together for the battle tomorrow.

“Seifer you should be blaming me. I was the one who let him go. You left me in charge of the camp remember?” This time she hoped her common sense would get through to Seifer. Once again, she was ignored because there was more to this rage Seifer felt than she had known. Her eyes studied Seifer who seemed to be excluding her from the conversation on purpose.

Seifer’s jaw clenched tightly. He had given Estrella an order to stay at the camp, yet she had followed him. Her being next to him and watching him meant he couldn’t discipline Troy like he wanted. Ignoring her again purposely, he kept his attention on Troy. He was not about to let the freak get away with disobeying a command.

“I gave you a direct order to watch over the camp Chicken Wuss. What do I find you doing? You are here in the woods pissing yourself away.” His voice was menacing as he spoke, therefore, there was no humor behind it. He was dead serious.

Troy went forth with his innocent and naïve act. However, he was about to make the situation worse because Estrella had no idea what Seifer and himself spoke about before Seifer went on a hunt for food. He lowered his voice and spoke with calmness to keep the raging, psychotic from doing something crazy.

“I am sorry for leaving Estrella alone in the camp Seifer. I had to go to the bathroom. I didn’t want to do it in front of her so I went to the forest. I’m well aware that she is capable of handling herself. In a way, I did it out of respect and honor for you Commander.” Troy spoke softly to avoid further conflict with Seifer who had momentarily loosened his grip around his collar. He thought he was safe for now.

When she heard Seifer's explanation and Troy’s comment, she was confused and shocked. Seifer must have spoken to Troy alone without her knowing.

“What?...but I thought you said I was in charge of the camp while you were gone Seifer.” She thought Seifer had given her the order to watch over the camp, but this entire time it was Troy who was in charge. If this was the proof Troy was after, then he had gotten it.

Seifer had loosened his grip on Troy’s collar, but not because he was through with the freak. It was out of respect for Estrella’s eyes. He didn’t want her to see what he was about to do. After hearing her surprised voice and loosening his grip, his mindset fell back into needing to discipline Troy. After all, Seifer considered himself the alpha male in the group, and he wasn’t about to let a freak challenge his authority. Estrella would have to understand. He slugged Troy’s face with his fist.

Troy, who had to defend himself, decided to create more drama by siding with Estrella. His eye closed shut immediately from the punch because it swelled. As badly as he wanted to return the beating, he focused on his mission. He grabbed at Seifer’s collar despite having a gunblade to his neck. A fight was about to break out.

“Commander, I know I disobeyed your command, but there is a reason for it. Estrella is a soldier and well capable of defending herself. I was only gone for two minutes. You have to have more trust in her.” He said as if he were the victim in all this.

Seifer glared down at Troy’s hands that were now gripping the collar of his trench coat because Troy was testing his patience. His glaring eyes slowly trailed back upwards to Troy’s face who had spoken out about how he felt. Telling by how Troy was trying to rile Estrella up by making him seem like an untrusting leader for her, he had developed a sense that Troy wasn’t as innocent as he wanted to portray.

“Just remember I am the squad leader so know your place punk. “ His voice spoke with conviction. He was dead set on letting Troy know he was the boss.

Troy returned Seifer’s glare which meant he was not backing down. While he appeared to be naïve, he was well capable of defending himself if he had to.

Seifer’s punch caused her to close her eyes to avoid seeing how ugly it was. After he had hit Troy, she listened to everything. Her eyes watered because she had become upset that neither of them had taken her seriously. It was not common for her to cry, but seeing how the two of them were discussing amongst one another and were seconds from killing one another, she had to act.

“I am not a child.” She said to both of them. Her voice had broken as she spoke.

Looking over at Estrella, both Seifer and Troy had loosened their grips to listen to her. Seifer watched her tears fall down her cheeks which deep within made him feel guilty. His expression hadn’t softened on the exterior, but internally he felt bad.

She looked at Seifer’s eyes letting him see her tears.

“Men can be such brutes. You don’t even know how you can hurt me sometimes without even touching me.” The tears she let go were those of frustration. Once she had spoken her sorrows, she walked away from both of them.

“I am going for a walk. I don’t want either of you following me.” She demanded.

Seifer released Troy and reached for Estrella’s arm because he didn't want her leaving alone.

“Get back here.” He ordered, but not with intensity. Instead, it was with need.

This time she jerked her arm free of Seifer’s grip before he had time to pull her in. She was dead serious with what she had demanded. She didn’t want either of them following her because she needed some time alone. Though she wouldn’t abandon the mission, she figured that the both of them were better off talking things out without her around.

“Let her be Seifer. She will be fine.” Troy wanted to keep Seifer from going after Estrella because he needed alone time with the commander like he had with Estrella. He needed to get to know Seifer before the mission tomorrow. When Seifer had his back turned, Troy smirked to himself because while Seifer appeared to be ruthless, the ruthless psychotic had someone he cared about which meant he wasn’t unbeatable.

Seeing Estrella leave his sights, he conjured his flame magic and blasted the nearest tree from the frustration he felt. The helpless tree caught on fire and eventually burned to ashes. Seifer, leaving Troy to himself, walked back to the camp hoping to find Estrella there which would not be the case. Nevertheless, he had a mission to focus on for tomorrow for his and her sake.

“You should thank her because if she wasn’t around, I'd destroy you.” He stated it as a fact and left it as it was.

----

A half an hour had passed. Both Seifer and Troy were seated around a fire where Seifer spent his time cooking the deer meat he had fillet with his Gunblade. It took every ounce of Seifer's willpower not to kill Troy and search for Estrella. Since he wanted to respect her for the sake of the mission, he restrained himself. His jaw clenched remembering how Troy placed him in a predicament that caused Estrella to be angry at him. It was almost as if Troy had done it on purpose. Avoiding eye contact with Troy, was the only sure way he could keep his gunblade from slashing through the chicken wuss like the deer he had fillet. Throughout the entire camp fire, Troy worked on his wooden stick that was his weapon of choice.

Looking up at Seifer, Troy studied the man. He appeared to be upset with what happened with Estrella. It felt good to Troy that he had caused a rift between the two for the time being. While the both of them were arguing, they had no time to suspect him of being a traitor to Limitless. In this case, he was a spy set on spreading a virus. However, he understood that he tread on a tin line. Therefore, he decided to apologize and get a sense as to what Seifer wanted from him. He also thought it would be nice to get into Seifer's head. The more he knew about his opponent the better.

"I want to apologize for disobeying your command. I just want you to know that I meant what I said. Your wife is a tough woman. She can take care of herself." He said hoping that Seifer would be easily swayed, but that wasn't the case.

Seifer's glare slowly set on Troy. Had the chicken wuss spoken to him? While coking the deer meat, he decided to respond. What Troy said was true, but the chicken wuss didn't know anything. He knew the coward was up to something. There was a reason Limitless made him a squad leader. He could read people. Showing a sign of weakness around Seifer, was the same as showing a predator a wound.

"What do you know?" He turned the meat over and looked away from Troy. Seifer's eyes stared coldy at the fire which wasn't good for Troy because Seifer's element of choice was fire. His thoughts were set on burning Troy alive, but he refrained from doing so for the sake of the mission.

Troy didn't understand why Seifer replied in such a manner. However, not backing down, he wanted to at least try to reason with the psychopath.

"Why aren't you looking for her then if I am wrong?" He asked.

Seifer didn't hesitate to respond.

"I respect her, but you..I want to feed you to the a pack of dogs." His voice lowered.

Troy didn't back down from Seifer's threat. He read Seifer's mind.

"I get it. You want to do this mission for her. You want to give her a better life than she had before this. It's why you want to complete this mission. I respect you for that. She deserves it." He nodded and hoped that Seifer would be fall into his trap of seeking information.

Seifer glared at Troy again. What he said was right, but he didn't like how Troy was attempting to get some information from him. Once Troy finished talking, he rose to his feet. He had enough of being alone with the chicken wuss. Not to mention, he wanted to make sure Estrella was safe. She needed to return to the camp.

"Stay here" His eyes glared straight into Troy who glanced away. It was just like a coward to do so. However, Seifer ignored it. He expected Troy to keep in line and not test who was the alpha male again. Then, turning his back, he walked into the forest.

Troy watched Seifer leave without a word to what Troy had spoke about. It must have been true.

"I shouldn't have listened to that Dumbass" She rubbed her eyes because tears were running down her cheeks. It had been years since she had last cried. However, the embarrassment she endured had pushed her into an emotional state she was not comfortable with. Being alone, she needed time to relieve herself of the overwhelming aches that had come from her heart.

After she left the camp, she sat down in front of a large, evergreen tree. It was nearly dark out. She considered the possibility of heading back, but something urged her to stay alone. The two men had caused enough trouble while she had been around them. Their need to show off had been too much for her to bare. Even with Seifer being her husband, he had crossed over the line. She had been aware of his protectiveness, but she never would have never thought that he'd trust a stranger over his own wife.

"I should probably stay here right now" She said to herself. Just as she was about to lean back against the tree and try to sleep, her phone rang.

ringtone

"Great..what now?" She pulled out her phone from her pocket. Glancing down, she rolled her eyes at who it was that was calling for her. It was Seifer. She didn't roll her eyes out of disrespect, but at how novice she was for keeping her phone on. She should have known he'd call to track her. Rather then picking it up, she remained seated where she was because it was a matter of minutes before she was found by him anyway.

Seifer searched throughout the forest in the dark. He was a solid tracker, but since it was dark, he had a hard time finding Estrella's trail. Stopping to think on how he could find her, he then remembered how she carried her phone with her everywhere. He took out his phone and dialed her number. Then, just like magic, he heard her ringtone nearby. She hadn't traveled far from the camp which made him wonder why she had not returned. It was obvious that she was mad at him. However, unlike her, he was unable to understand what he had done wrong. The entire purpose for how he acted was to keep her safe. Knowing where she was, he walked towards her location.

She rested against the tree with her arms around her knees. Hearing ruffling in the background, she knew Seifer was close. In a matter of minutes, he stood next to her, but she hadn't glanced up at him. She didn't want him to see how upset she was. It was a sign of weakness that she hadn't liked showing to anyone including her husband.

When he reached Estrella, he noticed her body language. He stood next to her and studied her. His eyes caught sight of what appeared to be tears that she attempted to hide, but hadn't done the best job of doing so. Immediately, he felt a pinch of guilt for having hurt her feelings. He had to fix it. He crouched next to her and wiped her tears away with his gloved finger. It was his way of apologizing even if it was without him speaking.

Her eyes glanced up into Seifer's when she felt his gloved finger touch her cheeks. He wiped away at her tears that had, unfortunately, been seen. When he crouched next to her and showed her this kind gesture, she understood that it was his way of apologizing. Being the rugged man that he was, he didn't always speak his feelings. She never expected him too. His loving actions spoke louder than any words could. Silently, she waited for him to say something. It was clear to her that he had known he was in the wrong for treating her like he had.

Seifer kept crouched alongside her. After rubbing away at her tears, he spoke up in the attempt to break the ice. His voice was softer than usual. It was rare for him to speak this way.

"Are you ever going to change that stupid ringtone?" He asked jokingly.

She listened to him as his voice went into a whisper. She heard his joke and tried not to laugh.

Seifer saw her attempt to hide back laughter which meant his joke had worked. Noticing that she wasn't going to talk and for good reason, he at least wanted to get her back to the camp where she was safer.

"Can you at least come back to camp with me? I don't want to leave you out here with all the freaks that may be running around." He kept his eyes on her hoping she'd buy into what he was saying. Even if she hadn't, he was not about to leave her alone in the woods.

Hearing Seifer's request, she contemplated whether it was right for her to accept it because the situation remained the same. She waited a couple of seconds. Seeing how he was looking at her with need, she had a difficult time resisting. He wouldn't leave her there alone regardless which meant she had no choice.

Finally, she gave in and nodded to him.

He rose to his feet and offered his hand to help her onto her feet.

Willingly, she accepted his hand and rose to her feet with his aid. She stared forward in the direction of where the camp was rather than looking up at Seifer. She felt his eyes on her though.

Once she had taken his hand, he helped her onto her feet. He gazed down upon her. It was hard for him to read how exactly she was feeling. Despite this, he wanted to make sure that she wasn't holding any ill feelings towards him. He was sincere.

Without warning, he cupped her face with his hands and brushed his lips against hers softly. He used his thumbs to wipe away her fallen tears again. His eyes opened slightly during the kiss to see how she reacted. Noticing that her eyes were closed during the kiss, said it all. She had accepted his apology, and they were once again on the same page.

She was taken back by the kiss, but appreciated it. Her eyes closed when his lips met hers. The fight that they had washed away and with good timing. The mission was tomorrow morning which meant the last thing she wanted was to have any bad feelings towards her husband. After what felt like an eternity, she pressed her hands against his chest and pulled away. It almost felt like he didn't want her to pull away. She didn't want to either. Despite how she enjoyed the kiss, she realized it was late, and they had to get back to the camp.

"I don't think I will ever change that stupid ringtone. I could probably use it to annoy that idiot at her camp." A smile came upon her face which was welcomed by Seifer's smirk.

"Don't play that shit around me though that's an order." On his face, he kept a smirk because he liked playing around like this with her. It was why she was special to him. He brought out the kid in him. While most days he was cold and aggressive, he liked having fun which is how she reminded him he was still human. He motioned his head towards the direction of the camp to get her to step in front of him. He wanted to keep his eyes on her as they walked back to the camp.

"Yes, commander." She joked at his order and walked by him towards the camp.

Troy was left alone to watch over the camp as he had promised to the commander. He wore a sinister expression upon his face because he had enough intel to take down both recruits by the morning. His plan would include divide and conquering. While the married couple made up and kissed, he pictured how the two of them would react to his deception.

"Seifer is going to wish he didnt mess with me." He said to himself. In the distance, he heard ruffling and voiced which meant the both of them were close. He only had to pretend to be nice for a little longer. Once he took out the white magic user and the future commander, Limitless would be less powerful. The white magic user, Eststrella, was the first priority because her rsre abilities coukd essentially make the limitkess militants closer to invincibility.

"Fuck me" He heard them getting close. Before they arrived, he had to make sure the fire was kept lit for the princess. He then had to put on his happier, calmer self to avoid further conflict with the self proclaimed alpha male. Seifer was fortunate that this male hadn't challenged him just yet because he was positive hed but the brute in his place.

"It's only a matter of time" He rubbed his hands together to symbolize that soon he'd be the one in control.

The camp was in the clearing. Seifer liked to be in control of every situation. Checking out the premises before leading Estrella into the camp, he saw that the coast was clear. He motioned to her that it was okay to go to the camp fire where they roasted the deer he had hunted down. He knew she must have been hungry since she was hungry before the entire argument had happened.

She exhaled profoundly when she saw the camp fire and Troy sitting alongside it. A part of her didn't want to confront him because she realized any false move on his part could mean Seifer attacking Troy again. They had to complete the mission in the morning, therefore, she tried her best to keep the hostility at its lowest point. After Seifer had given the go ahead, she walked towards the camp fire where she was greeted by Troy. Behind her, she felt Seifer's gaze fall upon both of them as if he was waiting for Troy to slip up just once so he had an excuse to hurt him.

Troy flashed a weak smile towards Estrella. He wasn't expecting her to be found so soon especially after the big fight that Seifer and himself had. She was set on passing the exam tomorrow mainly because she probably needed to prove herself to the world. With the husband she was in love with, it was likely impossible. He was protective and some could argue for good reason.

"It's good to see you back Estrella. You should eat something." He motioned for her to sit down on the log.

Seifer approached the camp fire slowly. He eyed Troy the entire time because he wanted to keep the fucker from ruining the night any further. Once the situation seemed at ease, he sat himself next to Estrella and place his gunblade at his side.

"You should eat." He commented right after Troy had said something.

She barely looked at Troy when he told her she should eat. However, when Seifer sat next to her and commented, she nodded. It was her idea and need to eat that sent Seifer to the woods to fetch her a deer. She originally wanted fish, but anything would do for now. Her hunger was too overpowering to care. After she nodded, she saw how Seifer grabbed a large leaf with bits and pieces of the deer steak already cut up for her. She reached for it.

"Thanks." Once she thanked him, she picked a piece of the deer steak and placed it in her mouth. While chewing, she gazed at the fire so she could enjoy the taste of a well cooked deer over a wood fire.

Seifer rested his forearms against his knees as he sat on the log next to Estrella. He watched her take a bite of the deer steak he had conveniently cut for her with his gunblade. What she hadn't known was that he pictured it as Troy's body who he was slicing into pieces. It, in a sense, was a way he had released the temper within himself. The silence would remain until Estrella had finished eating. His glare set on Troy while Estrella was occupied with the food. It was almost a warning to Troy not to test him this night. If Troy had, the chicken wuss likely wouldn't make it to the mission in the morning.

{This is going to be a long night.} She thought to herself while eating because she felt the intensity and tension between the two men. Seifer had good reason, but what was Troy's issue? Despite her knowing that Seifer was right, she still wanted to pass the exam, therefore, she'd do anything to keep the two from fighting...anything. In this case, it meant being "nice." If anyone knew Estrella, she hated being "nice."

It had gotten late, and the boiling tension from within Seifer increased. She felt it while she sat next to him and during her feast. It was Troy's presence that caused Seifer to react aggressively. While he hadn't attacked Troy, she knew he wanted too. The only aspect that kept her husband from choking Troy to death was her presence. Once she was finished eating, she placed the bones on the floor. The drama between Seifer and Troy had to be defused or they would fail the field test before it even started.

She decided the best manner to diffuse the two men's testosterone was to remove one of them from the scene. In this case, it was an easy decision. Seifer would not hesitate to kill the slender Troy, therefore, she needed to remove Seifer from the situation for Troy's sake. Not to mention, Seifer was more likely to follow her because she knew how to work with him. After having been with him for years and now married to him, she picked up a couple tactics to revert his attention elsewhere. It was time to act.

Yawning in exhaustion, she got onto her feet and looked over at the tent that Seifer built when they had arrived at the camp. She had to admit that he was a handy man. He was built for combat and survival. Smiling at how incredible he was, she then softened her facial expression to ease Seifer into what she wanted. Her dark green eyes gazed into his with an innocence that she hoped would melt his hardened exterior. His instinct and need to be protective over her, like a real knight would to his princess, would be the motivation he needed.

Troy noticed Estrella yawn. He stared at her as she rose to her feet. While he watched her stand, Seifer never stopped glaring at him.

"Tired Mrs. Divina?" He asked politely.

Seifer grit his teeth. He was close to having his temper completely snap. It wouldn't be good for anyone if it had.

Feeling Seifer on edge, she thought about him first. She ignored Troy's comment to avoid further pushing Seifer to a dark place they both did not want him in. After all, she wanted to pass the exam and improve her life. She knew improving their lives is what Seifer wanted too. His temper sometimes got in the way of what he truly wanted.

"Seifer could you walk me to the tent?" She asked softly. Though she was not afraid to walk towards the tent alone, it was a smart excuse to get Seifer to leave Troy alone. Silently, she waited and hoped for her husband to react to her request.

Upon hearing Estrella's request, Seifer's cold glare turned away from Troy to give Estrella's request attention. His hardened expression remained even when he looked at her. Internally, her request made him feel victorious. At the end of the day, she was his girl and what he said mattered more than what Troy could ever do. Standing to his full height, he reached for his gunblade with one hand while his free hand grasped Estrella's hand.

"Let's go." He demanded harshly. His anger was not directed at Estrella, but towards Troy. He could no longer stand the look on the chicken wuss' face. There was something about Troy that caused Seifer's instincts to overreact. He just couldn't put his finger on it. For Estrella's sake, he tried his best not to let his temper consume him.

Estrella nodded at Seifer's request. When Seifer led her towards the tend, she then glanced back at Troy.

"You were lucky. Stop being an idiot." She mouthed to Troy to behave because Seifer would surely kill Troy if he continued to act weird. Her acting vulnerable to woe Seifer to assist her to the tent was against what she wanted in this field test, but she was forced to do it for the sake of passing. She wanted to prove herself more than anything. Unfortunately, having two men, who hated each other on the field test, was a challenge in itself. If she was not around, one would have already been dead.

Troy was grateful for Estrella stepping in when she did. He hated how Seifer glared at him throughout the entire camp fire meal. They were all seated on logs, but it felt like he was sitting on the fire itself. Seifer had that effect on anyone. When the lovers walked over to the tent, he was left alone. Luckily, he brought a sleeping bag with him to ensure he'd get a much needed night of sleep. After all, tomorrow morning would be his unexpected triumph over the duo. Seeing how Seifer was around Estrella with a protective eye over her, had given him the needed artillery to strike the beast down.

Limitless did not require more strong soldiers like Seifer in their force. The rebels were already at a disadvantage when it came to numbers. With Limitless having a man like Seifer, the piles of bodies of rebel soldiers falling would increase tenfold. He could not allow that happen.
