"It is time to proceed." Troy whispered into his cell phone. He hid within the bushes to avoid getting caught by Estrella. She was too involved with her husband's murders to take notice to his betrayal. In about five minutes, she was about to be swarmed with enemies. He did not want to alert Limitless' higher ups to his traitorous ways. This meant his back stabbing would be done in a more believable fashion. His rebel leaders wanted detailed information on the two recruits of Estrella and Seifer because they posed a threat to the rebel cause. Unlike other cadets of Limitless, these two could upset the balance.

Seifer was a menace. His ruthlessness is what Troy feared the most. Seifer was not the typical muscle head. He was as powerful as he was strategic especially with the gunblade his handled. A man like Seifer appeared to have no weaknesses. From the report he read, Seifer was a highly trained soldier from Balamb Garden and his knowledge of the military was superb. His reputation of being cold and destructive was accurate too. Fortunately, there was one weakness that Seifer had. He noticed how Seifer catered to Estrella's every need. He was overprotective, obsessive, and impulsive when it came to her. It was almost barbaric in some people's eyes. Seifer's need to keep her safe was one Troy would no doubt exploit. If the rebels had any chance of defeating Seifer, it was through Estrella. The woman was the scarred man's one weakness which meant she could be used as a bargaining chip.

Troy's reasoning for joining Limitless was not just to intercept the powerful, new recruits. The deeper he got into the ranks the more information he could find to help his rebels succeed in defeating the Limitless organization. Estrella was the key to Limitless data. The only individual who would know of his betrayal in its entirety was the female he wanted to attack. He needed her the sake of his future and his organization's future. His plan would mean one thing.

He could not kill Estrella because of her vital role in his plan. She was a woman who possessed the ability to heal others and strengthen Limitless in the process. She was not just someone who supported groups because she too was a skilled warrior. It was not her muscle he wanted though. It was her ability to control the beast that could hinder his hostile treachery. Glancing up at the tree, he grinned with sick thoughts in his mind. He would not kill her, but he would break her.

"You're going to have a big surprise Estrella." He chuckled because the tides would turn. It would no longer be Estrella and Seifer in control. The control was no longer theirs to have. They were on his territory now.

The soldier grabbed his injured arm and fell onto his knees in front of Seifer. The entire time the scarred mad man had a wild grin upon his face.

"You son of a bitch! Why the hell did you do that?" He was in agonizing pain.

Seifer held his gunblade to the side and watched the man in pain with a sadistic smirk on his face. Estrella had done a great job of reserving the kill for him as she always had. Seifer liked finishing off his opponents. Seeing the soldier in pain, he was toying with him at the moment. The soldier was on his hands and knees like a coward. Seifer hated cowards.

The leaves rustled behind Seifer. Hearing the leaves, he remembered the other soldiers who were hidden in the bushes.

"I suggest you wait your turn." His voice said with a chilling conviction. Then he heard the three soldiers spread out to surround him. He kept his back turned to the three rebels who were likely ready to save their friend.

"You're clearly out numbered Limitless scum. You should drop the weapon and give up." One of the rebels stated with carelessness.

Seifer chuckled at the soldier's bold comment.

"You have no idea who you are fucking with." He replied with a aggressive tone and touched the chin of the injured man with the tip of his gunblade. His eyes did not glance at the three soldiers at all.

The bloodied soldier gazed up at Seifer with bravery.

"You have no chance scarred bastard." The hurt rebel felt more empowered with his friends around
.

Estrella rested upon the tree branch flat on her stomach. After she shot the arrow, she observed Seifer's reaction. He appeared happy that she helped him and took full advantage of the soldier's weakened state. Then, like she predicted, the soldiers from the pillars wanted to take Seifer down. He was surrounded. Though he was well capable of handling the situation and probably did not need her help, she was about to aid him further. She wanted to prove her worth, and this was another chance to show it. This meant using the tactics she learned over the years while being with Seifer. Whether Seifer liked to admit it or not, they were a team, and she too could help him when the time was right. His overprotective nature blinded him to what she could do sometimes especially when supporting him in battle. It was time to remind him again.

"This is for you." She blew a kiss to Seifer who could not see it.

The ability she wanted to use was one that accentuated Seifer's powers. It was her favorite trick when it had come to helping her "hot" husband. She meant "hot" in a literal sense because his fire magic was like nothing she had seen. With her trick and his power, the three soldiers would be obliterated within seconds.

She grabbed leaves from the tree she was laying on and strapped them to arrow's sharp point with a string. Once it was on tight, she pulled out a lighter from her pocket. Her finger clicked the lighter on and a small flame flickered. She pressed the flame to the leaves. Instantaneously, the leaves were on fire. She smiled wickedly at her creation. After creating a flaming tip to the arrow, she pressed the nock of the arrow against the string and pulled until the string of the bow pressed against her cheek. It did not take her long to aim. Without hesitation, she released the string and the arrow was shot to its destination.

The arrow landed next to the bushes that the three soldiers were using as cover behind Seifer. On impact, the fire from the tip of the arrow ignited the lush, brush surrounding the soldiers and Seifer. The environment soon became unbearably warm.

"W-what!" The four rebels including the one on his knees were startled by the sudden forest fire.

Seifer turned his head to see that the bushes in the area were set on fire. The flames excited him and caused his muscles to flex with thrill. It so happened that fire was his element of choice. He ran a hand through his slick blonde hair and smirked at his wife's doing. He felt the power of the fire within his veins. She definitely wanted the freaks to burn, and he would do it for her gladly.

The four soldiers, including the injured one, looked at one another as the flames became wilder. The heat from the fire burned at their skin. They did not know what the scarred man meant by them being in trouble, but his devilish smirk frightened them. Anxiously, the three soldiers went on the offensive by grabbing at their pistols. By the time they touched their weapons, it was too late.

Seifer smirked dementedly. He saw the three soldiers reach for their pistols. Before they were able to use them, Seifer narrowed his eyes. The slight narrowing of his eyes ignited the flames surrounding them. He was one with the fire controlling it to do his bidding. The flames engulfed the four soldiers in a flash. They did not have a moment to yell. Before they realized it, they were nothing more than ashes. He watched with a sinister expression as he enjoyed his handwork. Once he rid himself of his obstacles, his attention went on the base which was his for the taking. It looked like there were no more road blocks either. With his eyes set on the prize, he ran towards it leaving the mess he created behind him.

Troy heard bristling from the brush behind him. He turned to the direction of the sound and saw his squad signalling him over. He nodded to them. To make sure no one followed him, he glanced up at Estrella. She was too occupied with helping Seifer to notice he was about to plan a surprise attack. Seeing that she was distracted, he left her alone to greet his squad members. The field test was about to take a turn for the worst for the mighty Estrella.

"We are here commander." One of the seven rebel soldiers said to Troy respectfully.

Troy nodded at his fellow comrade.

"She is up there." He pointed up at the tree where Estrella lay.

The same soldier glanced up at the tree to see that a woman rested on it with a long bow aimed. She looked like she was waiting for another rebel soldier to pop out. Her smaller, feminine frame made it hard for the soldier to believe that she was part of the problem. After seeing the woman, his gaze set on Troy again. The other soldiers continued to stare at the female.

"Are you sure this is the woman Troy? You know our policy. We don't attack females." The soldier said with seriousness. He wanted to continue to hold the principles that remained true to the rebel cause.

Troy rested his hands on his hips. He knew the policy the rebels had towards women. Unfortunately, it was a policy they would have to break for the sake of taking down a larger threat. He needed to convince them that what they were doing was right. If they did not attack Estrella, than the beast that was around her would continue to harm the rebel cause. She was part of a bigger problem. Not to mention, her healing abilities would make Limitless nearly unbeatable.

"She has too much power. You don't know the danger she possesses if Limitless acquire her. I will prove it to you." He replied to his squad member's concern.

"I want you to shoot me in the shoulder Tom." He requested straightforward.

The six soldiers glanced at one another in shock that their squad leader wanted to be shot. They then looked at Tom who had been talking to Troy the entire time.

Tom was taken back by his squad leader's strange request.

"You want me to..shoot you sir?" He had to ask again to make sure it is what his leader wanted.

"Yes, I want you to shoot me so I can show you why this woman must be beaten. We must send a message." He repeated himself to reassure Tom that it was okay.

Tom reached for his pistol and pulled it out of the holster that was strapped to his upper leg. Once he had a grip on the gun, he pointed it at Troy. His hand shook nervously because he did not want to kill a comrade.

Troy embraced himself. It was not guaranteed that Estrella would heal him. Since Seifer and her needed him to be alive for the field exam, there was a good chance she would.

"Once you shoot me, I want you to hide." He ordered his squad. The six soldiers nodded and headed towards the bushes to avoid being spotted.

Tom was the last soldier remaining with Troy. Seeing that the squad was away, he clicked the safety.

"I don't know what you plan to show me Troy, but I hope this is worth it. I trust you." He pulled the trigger and shot Troy in the shoulder. The second the bullet hit Troy in the shoulder Tom turned and sprinted towards the closet tree he could find. He would hide as he was told. Being a soldier, meant not questioning orders. He trusted Troy knew what he was doing.

BANG!

Troy nodded to Tom. They would know what they were dealing with soon enough, and his plan would go into motion. Once Tom agreed to the idea, the brave comrade fired as Troy requested. The moment the bullet hit Troy he fell to the ground. He yelled out in anguish from the pain.

Estrella, who was both admiring and supporting Seifer's abilities from afar, was startled by the gun shot that was followed by a familiar voice's wail. She strapped her bow around her shoulder. Were they being attacked? Instantly, she rose to her feet while on the branch. Then, elegantly, she dropped down from the tree and landed swiftly.

"Troy!" She saw that he was on the ground. Her eyes scanned the area to see if anyone was around. There was nobody. Her female intuition told her something was wrong, but that initial feeling was placed aside when she saw Troy rolling around on the floor. His pain made her ignore the instincts that were trying to tell her there was a problem.

{What the hell did you do you idiot?} Her initial thought that Troy had done something to attract attention to where they were. He was holding his bleeding shoulder. She was not worried about him per say, but she understood he was important for her future. Being concerned about the field test and passing, she crouched alongside him.

"What the hell happened?" She asked with discomfort when she saw how bloodied he was. The hand he had over the wound was dripping in blood. If she did not heal the wound quickly, he would definitely die.

Troy grimaced when he sat up. His hand covered his wound.

"I-I don't know. It might have been...a sniper." He lied through his clenching teeth. He felt himself getting light headed. If she did not heal him soon, his efforts would be for nothing.

She struggled with herself. While she knew that healing Troy would keep him alive for the mission, her female intuition held her back. There were no snipers in the area that she had seen with her enhanced vision. How could he have been shot and by who?

{Why is she taking so long to heal me...?} Troy's vision blurred.

"Y-you should go..go Estrella. T..hey wi...ll attack you. S-seifer would ne..never for..give me." He struggled to talk. By making himself look noble, he figured her guilt would force her to heal him.

"Stop talking damnit!" She hated using her healing abilities on a stranger, but she did it for the sake of her future.

The need to pass the exam was more vital than her female intuition. As soon as Troy commanded her to leave the area, she rested her hand on his shoulder. A light blue light illuminated from her hand. The instant she touched Troy's soldier he was healed. His wound closed, the bullet popped out, and his strength was rejuvenated.

She exhaled profoundly after the healing process. While she was capable of healing anything, the energy it took especially after she had used some of it to help Seifer, it left her breathless.

The warmth that went through Troy was like nothing he had felt before. It tingled inside, and the sensation felt incredible. His wound closed effortlessly. His vision were no longer blurred. Within seconds, his wound was healed as if he was never shot. He flexed his arm to test the strength of it. There was no pain. She healed him like he had seen her do with Seifer. Once he was healed, he rose to his feet and marveled at the Estrella's ability. He could not explain in detail how truly amazing it was. Not only did he feel like nothing happened to him, but he felt stronger than ever.

"Thank you Estrella." He thanked her and held his hand out for her to shake.

All of the soldiers' mouths gaped open when they saw how fast Troy was healed.

Tom was in awe as well, but then realized why Troy needed Estrella to be beaten. She could heal with no issues. With her ability to heal countless Limitless soldiers, the possibilities were endless for the ruthless organization. She was only a cadet right now, but her powers would increase in time with Limitless. They would utilize her like no other. The scarred squad leader was even more of a threat with his vicious power and ability to wield a gunblade. If she was the psycho's partner, the scarred psycho would be more horrible than he could imagine. He witnessed how easily the future commander of Limitless was able to take out several of his comrades, and he did it with a devilish grin upon his face.

Tom knew what had to be done for the sake of the rebel's future. He was informed about the cadets that were to take part in the field test today, but it wasn't until he saw them in action that he understood why this mission was important. The two cadets taking the test today were more powerful than any previous cadets he had seen. The duo of Estrella and Seifer had a weakness though. From Troy's information from having spent the last couple of days with them, the scarred squad leader had an overprotective nature of the woman which could hinder the squad leader's thoughts. Troy's brilliant plan to attack the weakness of the squad leader would benefit the rebels. For one, they would handicap the ruthless beast. Secondly, the woman could be used as a tool to gather more information on Limitless. He wasn't sure how vital the woman was to the squad leader, yet scaring the woman into action was their only shot of infiltrating Limitless. The more they intimidated her into doing their bidding the more Intel they could get from the interior offices of Limitless. If they could control her, they could control the scarred beast. Sadly, he hated beating women because it was against his code. It was too bad she was caught up on the wrong side.

He walked out from behind the tree.

Estrella was not surprised when Troy rose to his feet and thanked her. She did not say anything in return because he should not have been shot in the first place. Impulsively, she wanted to scold him for blowing their cover. After Troy thanked her, she gasped when she saw a rebel soldier pop out from behind a tree. The unfamiliar, rebel walked straight towards them with calmness. She reached for her long bow defensively and was about to attack the stranger until she saw more troops step out from the bushes. She looked on with nervousness when she saw six other soldiers come out from hiding. They were hidden in the bushes, and this entire time she was unaware of their presence.

"What's going on?" She asked with a tint of dread. It was dread because her original suspicions might have been right. Looking at Troy, she hoped her feelings weren't correct about him. She stood frozen in place observing every detail of the situation. Her heart beat pounded frantically due to the uneasy situation she was placed in.

Troy turned to see that his comrades were approaching. Slowly, he backed away from Estrella leaving her alone. He sided with them and folded his arms in the process.

Her scared expression turned into one of anger when she realized that her worst fears came true. The pain she felt from being back stabbed drove her to the breaking point. She was not afraid to fight, but she was afraid of trusting someone. She had placed her hard-to-gain trust in a stranger, and he was nothing more than a traitor. He betrayed her.

"You traitor!" She shouted in rage when she saw Troy side with the rebels. The tears in her eyes welled out of pure hatred for the man. The tears accentuated the intense emotion she had within her. She no longer felt pity for Troy. After all the times she defended him from Seifer's brutality, he returned the favor by cornering her with the enemy. What she felt was the need to kill him for betraying her trust and using her for his personal gain.

"Don't feel bad Estrella." Troy snickered when he saw how upset she became.

"Your higher ups didn't see it coming either. If you don't struggle, I promise I won't hurt you too bad. We just need you to be our way of getting information that's all. Not just that, but uh we really can't afford Limitless getting their hands on someone like you. I'm sure Seifer would understand why we had to attack you first and not him." He said with light humor, but every comment he made was indeed serious. They needed her to defeat the future of Limitless.

"Never!" Her feminine voice exclaimed defiantly. She grabbed her long bow and held it at her side. She refused to be seen as a weakness. Glancing at the 8 vs 1 situation she was in, she would need to do her best to stay strong until Seifer returned.

"You're not taking me down." She stated fiercely. Instinctively, she went into survival mode and searched for something to help her. It was then her eyes saw the walky talky that Seifer had given Troy. It was strapped to Troy's belt. If she could reach it, the eight of them would be dead.

Tom and the six soldiers waited for Troy's command. The woman was alone and defenseless against 8 of them. He didn't think she would have a chance.

Troy didn't catch what she was looking at because he was too busy enjoying his believed victory. Turning to his men, he knew that he had to attack before the scarred freak returned.

"Attack her men, but don't underestimate her. She is stronger than she looks. I want her beaten!" He sounded cold when he said he wanted her beaten. He motioned his head towards Estrella to order his men to start. Once he did, he stood back and allowed his squad to attack Estrella head on. He would wait for an opening to strike her down and get her to listen to his demand.

Like hounds after a pesky rabbit, the seven rebel men ran after her. The rebels ran in a V formation with Tom leading the pack. They were closing the gap and were prepared to tackle her. First, they had to catch her. Her arms and legs pumped into overdrive because she couldn't get caught. She refused to be used as a weakness. Running at full speed to dodge every obstacle in her path, her movements were out of desperation and instinct. She sprinted towards the trees where she thought she'd be the safest and have some cover to hide in. The grassy opening she was running on was a lengthy hundred yards which meant she had to be at her peak form. She knew she could not out sprint all of the men to where Seifer was located because of their longer strides, but she hoped she could at least make it to the heavily treed part of the forest where she could hide in the meantime. Turning to see where the men were, she saw that they were quickly gaining on her.

The fact that they were closing the distance meant she had to take action. At this rate, she would not reach the forest without at least on of them taking her down which meant going on the offensive. While sprinting, she unstrapped her long bow and grabbed an arrow from the holster she had tied to her back. Her fingers plopped the arrow onto the necking point. Since she was in a hurry, she didn't bother to aim. She then turned slightly and shot an arrow at the group of men who were in her sights. In a blink of an eye, the arrow stuck one of the soldier's legs who was lagging behind the others.

The soldiers didn't have time to react to the arrow that was shot at them. The last soldier, who lagged behind the rest, fell harshly from the arrow going through his upper leg. His howl indicated to Estrella that he had been hit.

Troy walked after the group casually. He expected her to put up a fight. Seeing his comrade in pain, he walked by the injured soldier in order to assist his other comrades on taking her down. For now, he could not stop for anyone or anything. Like a predator on the hunt, he waited for his chance to enter into the chase.

"One down..." She said to herself in the attempt to keep calm about her uphill battle. The forested area was in her sights. With agility, she jumped down a small slope and landed with grace. Her one offensive maneuver had given the other six men a chance to break the distance. After she fired an arrow, she saw that one of the rebels had used the opportunity to attack her. He threw himself at her and managed to grab her legs. She could not reload her bow in time and almost dropped it in the process of being brought to the ground.

The instant she was tackled she screamed from hitting the floor roughly. Her knees and elbows were scraped on impact. The pants and shirt she wore were torn by the rugged edges of the forest ground. The patches of holes along her legs and arms revealed how gruesome the tackle was from the blood that gushed out of her newly formed wounds. The outfit's rips were the least of her worries.

"Get off of me!" The man had a hold of her ankles. Clawing at the grass and dirt, she reached for anything that could help her break away from the struggle.

"Stay still!" The soldier was kicked while he tried to take hold of her legs. She was stronger than she looked, and he could not control her to the fullest extent. He waited for back up from his partners who were soon to arrive.

As she kicked at the soldier who had a hold of her legs, her hand touched a hard object. Her fingers grasped the rough item because it was her only chance of breaking free from the man. She didn't know what it was, but it didn't matter. Desperately, she smashed the object over the man's head.

The man yelled and grasped his forehead that was cut by the foreign object. He released her legs to tend to his wound. In agony, he rolled onto his back, and the blood poured from the gash on his forehead. He was in too much pain to realize he had let her go.

It was then she noticed it was a rock that she hit the man with. Once she hit the man, she tossed the rock aside only to see that the other soldiers were staring right at her. She was in a bad situation because of how she was still on the ground. The soldiers were about to take her down. To buy more time, she did her best to keep them from attacking her. She slid on her backside away from the men with her hand raised to the air. They approached her slowly. While she slid, her hand once again searched for something to help her.

"Give up!" Tom demanded because the woman was cornered. She slid backwards which meant she had no attacks left to take them down. Since she was out numbered and had no chance of escaping now, he figured she would give into their demands.

"Fuck you!" Her hand dug into the grassy ground and she grabbed a handful of dirt. Unexpectedly, she tossed the dirt into the eyes of her attackers. The five, who were left, were blinded the second the dirt sprayed into their eyes.

Tom fell onto one knee when he was blinded by the woman's cheap tactic. His other comrades fell along with him. In unison, they rubbed their eyes in the attempt to regain their vision.

Her dirty trick worked. It had given the break she needed. She took their distraction as a chance to get back onto her feet and run to the trees where she was no longer in out in the open. To rest, she hid behind the closest tree she could find. The trees would give her cover for the time being or so she thought. Unknowingly, she was being followed by Troy who kept a view of her from a distance. He was the only one who knew where she was hidden.

"I'm going to get that bitch." Tom growled through his teeth. He regained his vision and ran after the woman who now had the advantage. She was hidden which meant he would have to be extra cautious.

Panting frantically, she closed her eyes to regain her composure. Her heavy breathing would give her position away if she could not control it. Her lip quivered with nervousness because she did not think she could hold off the men for much longer. The sweat from her temples dripped down her cheeks revealing the dire dilemma she was in. She was covered in dirt from being tackled and smothered. Keeping her eyes closed, she heard the soldiers spread out in the forest and one approaching her tree. Her concentration needed to be at its peak. If she made one bad move, she would be done for.

She would have to go on the offensive again. Her long bow was held at her side as she awaited eagerly for the soldier to pass her tree. Her anxiousness was at its highest.

Tom was the soldier who cautiously walked closer to the tree she was hidden behind. He walked right passed the tree completely missing the woman who had her eye directly on him.

When the rebel passed the tree she was hidden behind, she closed her eyes and pushed her back as hard into the tree as she could to avoid being seen. She held her breath to keep quiet. The soldier did not see her. She was relieved momentarily to know that she dodged a bullet. Her eyes were now set on the rebel who had no idea she was next to a tree he had walked by. With his back turned, she had the chance to attack him which she did.

She rushed behind the unaware soldier and hopped onto his back. Her legs tightened around his waist to keep herself from being thrown off. Her long bow was utilized as a choking device when she wrapped it around his neck. The string of the bow tightened against his adam's apple which sealed his airway. Hearing him choking for air, she continued her ruthless, yet desperate assault on the man.

Tom was blind sided when he was attacked from behind. His air way was tightened when a string was pressed tightly against his throat. He coughed to get air into his lungs. It was the woman who attacked him because during the struggle he saw the long bow. He wiggled to get the woman off of him, but she had her legs firmly wrapped around his waist. His hands reached behind him. He grabbed a hand full of her braided hair and yanked on it, but she would not let go. Eventually, he started to lose strength because of how firm her technique was. He fell onto one knee from the lack of oxygen his muscles were getting. He was slowly dying.

She grimaced when her hair was pulled.

"OUCH!" She had given her position away when she yelled from the pain of her hair getting yanked. Despite her mistake, she held onto the soldier even when he fell onto one knee. Her legs unwrapped around his waist when he had lowered himself, but she kept a hold on him until he was placed asleep.

Tom was seconds from being killed, but Troy came to his aid.

Troy grabbed hold of Estrella's waist to pull her off of Tom. With a strong tug, he lifted her into the air.

She was grabbed from behind and lifted. Her long bow was dropped when she was picked up. Once again, she had begun to kick to avoid being man handled. Her finger nails dug into the man's arms to get him to let go. Her feet kicked at the attacker's legs to break them in the process. She would do anything to get the man to release her.

"You thought you were going to get your way? I don't think so little girl !" Troy growled when he was attacked with kicks when he picked her up off of Tom. The more she struggled the tighter his grip became. He shook her from left to right to tire her out.

"Troy! Get your greasy hands off of me!" Estrella shouted in anger because she hated being touched. When Troy spoke out, it made her eyes water from the hysteria she felt towards him. The ache of betrayal became evident again. During her struggle to get him to release her, she remembered the walky talky he had strapped to his belt. She was lifted by Troy's strength which had given her the opening to go for the walky talky. Her heel drove into his hip which knocked the walky talky into the ground. He must have not known that she was after the talky because he let her go from the pain he was in and ignored the fact that it was on the floor.

Troy threw her to the side when her heel was driven into his hip. He fell to the ground like a ton of bricks from the force of the stomping motion.

"You stupid woman!" He yelled in pain.

She yelped when she hit the ground hard as her rib cracked from the crash landing. The momentum behind Troy's toss caused her to roll several times before she came to a stop. After rolling, she ended up on her stomach with her face pressed into fallen leaves.

{I have to get to the walky...Seifer...} She reminded herself because it was her way to salvation. She let out a second yelp when she tried to move because a sharp pain was felt against her rib cage. Her hand grasped at her side to ease the agonizing pain she had to endure in order to succeed in getting away from the vicious assault by the rebels. Laying on her stomach, she glanced up and saw that the walky was in reaching distance. Her exhausted, yet determined eyes were set on the walky. Painfully, she started to crawl towards the walky and was unaware that the other soldiers, including Tom, were in the area too.

Painstakingly, she crawled towards the walky. The ten yards she had to crawl seemed endless. The German Suplex Troy had done to her was more damaging than she originally thought. She winced and gasped with every movement of her body, yet she continued to endure the pain. The walky was her source of escaping the attack from the rebels.

Troy rubbed his hip to ease the pulsating pain. With struggle, he rose to his feet and lifted his shirt to check on the injury. His right side was purple from the bruising he received courtesy of Estrella's stomp. He wanted to break her badly. He clutched his side and brought his attention to Estrella. The woman was crawling away, but he did not see that she was moving towards the walky.

The five soldiers, not including the soldier who was hit with an arrow, jogged to the area. They caught up with Troy. The soldiers rested their hands on their knees from the long chase because they were all tired. While bent over, the six soldiers did not realize that Estrella was crawling towards something.

Tom rose to his feet. There was a red mark around his neck that was a reminder that Estrella tried to choke him to death. If it were not for Troy, the woman would have killed him. He regained his breath and looked over to the woman. Even in her terrible state, she fought with every ounce to get away. She crawled and scratched at the ground. He felt some pity about how they had to take down a woman.

"That woman is trouble." Tom rubbed his neck as he spoke. He was not expecting Estrella to have as much fight as she did.

Troy spit on the floor when Tom mentioned how troubling Estrella was. She was a handful. Fortunately, she was in bad shape. The numbers game finally caught up with her.

"I will take care of this." He said furiously and stalked over to Estrella who had her finger tips around the walky.

Tom was the first to notice that Estrella had an object in her hand.

"SHIT! Troy she has something in her hand!" Tom exclaimed because he was not sure what it was. The other soldiers looked over at Estrella.

"It's the damn walky!" One of the soldiers confirmed Tom's suspicion.

She had the walky in her hand which was half the battle. Her fingers twisted a knob to get the right frequency. The commotion behind her was bad news. Frantically, she put the walky to her mouth. Before she could utter a single word, someone grabbed her ankle and dragged her. She shrieked in pain from how tight the grip was around her ankle.

"What are you doing huh? What are you doing?" Troy clutched Estrella's ankle with brute force and pulled her towards him. He rolled her onto her back to get a view of her face. She had the object in her hand. It was then he noticed what it was. A state of panic filled the area because the walky would ruin the rebel's plans including his. Her intention was contacting the scarred psychopath, but he would not let that happen.

She was turned onto her back to face Troy.

"Get away from me you bastard!" She demanded.

Ignoring her demand, he pushed his way to get on top of her by tossing one of her legs to the side. He had to subdue her.

When he tried, she kicked wildly until her foot connected with his nose.

CRACK!

Troy screamed in a high pitch tone when his nose was kicked. His eyes watered from the pain. He backed away and rested on his knees until the pain subsided. His precious nose was crushed by Estrella's foot.

"You broke my nose you crazy bitch!" He sounded like he was crying because of how excruciating the pain was. His fellow soldiers came to his aid.

She momentarily smirked at Troy's pain. After taking care of him, she put the walky up to her mouth. She was about to talk, but once again, her plan was foiled.

Tom kicked the walky out of Estrella's hand. The remaining soldiers surrounded her. In her current state, she had no chance of escaping.

"No!" She cried in despair when the walky was kicked out of her hand. She saw her last opportunity to escape slip through her fingers. In that instance, tears of dread dripped down her cheeks. Her arm went over her eyes because she realized what it meant.

The rebel, squad leader removed his hand from his nose. His eyes were red, most of his face was purple, and dry blood made his lips crispy. He looked like he was in a bloody, boxing match. Glaring at Estrella, he lunged forward and got on top of her. She had her arm covering her eyes showing her hopelessness, but he had no remorse. He pulled her arm from her face and back handed her for the vicious strike she delivered to his nose.

She started to cry from the hysteria she felt towards the situation. She was betrayed, attacked, and humiliated. Feeling Troy get on top of her, she screamed dramatically that echoed throughout the entire forest. The birds from trees flew into the sky from the emotion put behind the scream.

Forcefully, her arm was pulled away from her face. She was then back handed which caused her face to turn on impact. Her cheek reddened after the strike. Despite the back hand and the pain she was in, she looked up at Troy with intense rage in her tearing eyes.

Troy rubbed his ears after her scream. Seeing her teary face, he smirked victoriously. He clutched her wrists and pinned them behind her head to avoid anymore accidents.

Tom grabbed the walky and held it in his hand. He went into deep thought when he studied the walky. The woman was terribly close to contacting her partner. If she had, their mission would have failed. As he looked at the walky and thought about what they were doing, the other five soldiers gave Troy space so he could work his magic. The rebels observed their leader and his unorthodox methods.

The tears flowed down her cheeks when her wrists were placed above her head. She was forced to look at the traitor's face. Though she was crying, the anger she felt was evidently shown by the intensity in her green eyes. It was frightening to some of the soldiers how aggressive Estrella was despite her being pinned.

Troy lowered himself on top of her until his face was inches above her's. He saw how angry she was and how wet her cheeks were from crying. He had already broken her spirit. By betraying her, he saw how hurt she was which meant his plan would work.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way Estrella, but you see we rebels fight for the human cause. You were just caught up in the wrong side." He spoke with a playfulness behind his tone. With Seifer's woman beneath him, he had control over everything. His vengeance on Seifer and the entire Limitless organization would take effect.

"Liar!" She roared when he mentioned how the rebel's were fighting for the human cause. Before he could ge another word in, she let her thoughts about the rebellion be known. She wanted the rebels to know what she thought about their cause.

"You're nothing more than terrorists. You say you're here to fight for peace and justice, yet all you do is bomb buildings and shit. You're the one who had 8 men attack one woman! What kind of philosophy is that? You have no honor! You kill just as much as Limitless does. The only difference is...THEY try to keep the peace. You just want chaos you stupid, ignorant gorillas!" She voiced passionately. After saying gorillas, she jerked her body underneath Troy to fight with every ounce she had left.

Troy and the soldiers were taken back by Estrella's remarks.

To silence her, Troy clutched her throat to keep her from talking. He didn't tighten his hold to allow her to breath, but he would not let her talk anymore.

"NO, wrong! You're the killers. Don't turn this around on our cause." He defended the rebellion. It was her logic that was skewed.

She coughed when Troy's hand went around her neck. Even when he tried to quiet her, she managed to get a word in.

"Co...ward.." She croaked.

The rebel leader had enough. He smacked her again.

His soldiers winced every time Troy hit Estrella. Tom stared at the walky because he couldn't bare it. Though she was with the enemy, they had trouble watching a woman being beaten.

She closed her eye when she was smacked. This time it was her eye that became reddened and bruised. Her face was in bad shape along with the rest of her body. After she was slapped, she opened her eyes to glare into Troy's. Her left eye was halfway closed from the bruising around it which meant her glare was less intense because of the beaten state she was in.

Troy kept a firm hold around her neck after he hit her. He wanted to get through with his plan before the psycho returned. Hearing no more back talk from Estrella, he got to the point.

"These next couple of days I want you to keep that monster you call a husband off my ass. You will help me become a full member of Limitless. You don't need to ask why either. All you have to do is help me pass the next two tests. I don't care what the fuck you have to do to make it happen, but you WILL make it happen. You will fail, and I will pass. This is how it will go." He spoke loudly and authoritatively. Unlike the field exam, the next two tests that Limitless had their cadets do, did not need all three members to get through. This meant Seifer was in the right to beating him to death if he stepped out of line. Not to mention, only two cadets out of the trio could pass. Estrella and Seifer were far more qualified than him. Seifer would do anything in his power to see that Troy didn't pass, but even if Seifer did not attack him, Estrella was more vital to Limitless than he. With the rebel's needing to infiltrate the Limitless headquarters, him passing would give them the best shot of getting information. He could not get the scarred beast off his back which meant he had to depend on Estrella in doing so.

He was killing three birds with one stone. If Estrella failed, this meant he would pass giving him access to Limitless data bases. At the same time, the skillful white magic user would not be utilized by the organization to further enhance their power. Without her, the scarred freak would be hindered too. He had a soft spot for the woman which meant her not passing would probably make the violent, squad leader less driven to be the best, thus, killing less of the rebels. Troy released the grip off her neck to let her speak. His hands grabbed her wrists and kept them pinned above her head to avoid being attacked again.

Estrella listened to Troy's outrageous demand. He wanted her to forsake her dream to help the rebel cause. She knew about how only two cadets out of the three would pass. With him asking her to fail on purpose, meant he was desperate. She would not do it.

"I refuse. You suck too much to pass." She growled with her answer.

Troy chuckled at her response. He expected it, but already knew how to counter her never die attitude. Lowering himself until his lips were pressed against her ears, he whispered something dreadful into her ear.

"I know you're trying to be tough girl and all. You're not scared of anything right? Ha, bullshit. If you don't do as I say, I swear I'll kill that husband of yours. " He threatened.

Her eyes widened at his comment. This was the time where her confidence in her husband's abilities should have ignored Troy's threat. She should have asked how Troy could possibly have a chance against her husband. Unfortunately, her love for Seifer clouded her judgement. In a way, she was now the one being protective. She would not allow her husband to be harmed.

"You wouldn't..." She cried out in horror. The exam was important to her, but Seifer was everything. Her devotion as a wife meant she would sacrifice her dream in a heart beat. Troy knew this and exploited it.

"Don't test me. I suggest you will know what is right. I expect you to fail the next two exams PRINCESS." Troy's chuckle was sinister. He lightly slapped Estrella's cheek and got off of her. Troy looked at his fellow soldiers. He did not want her being talkative when Seifer returned. With a flick of his finger, the soldiers closed in on her. They did not ask questions.

The soldiers kicked and stomped at Estrella. The only one who did not do anything was Tom. Behind his comrades, he looked on with sadness. The woman was braver than he imagined. Though she was on the opposite side, she did not deserve the treatment she received.

She closed her eyes to avoid crying further because her pride could not handle it. As she lay on the floor in defeat, she covered her face with her elbows. Her body was kicked and stomped on. One of the soldiers gave her a good shot to the broken rib she got from Troy's toss earlier. She shrieked in agony, but stayed awake as long as possible. It was after a couple seconds of getting beaten, that she finally gave into her exhaustion and pain. She closed her eyes and lost consciousness.

The soldiers stopped assaulting Estrella once she was unconscious. Tom walked after Troy who was preparing the next phase of his plan.

"Did you really think that was necessary? The girl was already in bad shape." Tom began to question Troy's motives.

Troy stopped walking and looked over at his fellow soldier. Seeing that Tom had the walky, Troy took it from Tom because the next phase of his plan would continue regardless of what anyone thought.

"If I came even a second later Tom, you would have been killed by that woman. She is a menace. You have yet to see how bad her freak of a husband is. The only way to control that bastard is to have her controlled. You should trust me Tom. I don't like beating up a woman either, but it's the only damn way." He held the walky in his hand. In the next part of his plan, he would notify Seifer of what happened and play the victim. The scarred monster could not know what truly happened. He expected Estrella would keep her end of the bargain especially after his threat.

Tom stared at the ground when Troy mentioned the choking incident. He was right that the woman would have killed him. At the same time, it was out of self defense which meant he could not blame the girl for trying to fight back. The soldier decided not to question Troy's methods further. Instead, he wanted to know what the leader had in store for the pair.

"What are you doing with that?" Tom asked curiously. The five soldiers surrounded Troy and Tom.

"We finished sir. She is unconscious right now." One of the five soldiers stated to Troy.

Troy nodded and waved so that the five soldiers would leave them alone.

Without question, the five soldiers left the scene to get back to their posts.

After they were gone, Troy turned to Tom with the walky in his hand. He would answer his question.

"Our squad leader gave us this walky to contact him if anything bad happened. Since he is at the base right now, I will let him know about this ambush that took place. He should come running back once he finds out his precious over there was beaten to a pulp. Then we will head back to the Limitless base." He kept close to Tom and spoke with a creepy smile on his face.

"The alpha freak won't know that it was me behind the ambush. This will buy me a little more time to pass the next two tests that that Princess over there will let me pass. Then we will have all the access we need to the Limitless database. Our rebel cause will be a force to be reckoned with." He clenched his fist because he was closer to helping the rebels infiltrate the Limitless base.

Tom kept silent when Troy explained his plan, yet afterwards voiced his concerned.

"Do you think that monster will believe you? For some reason, I am not so sure he will be forgiving if he is as protective over her as you say." He thought the idea was risky depending on how Seifer reacted especially when his loved one was in terrible shape. He could see Troy's idea back firing and Seifer killing him on the spot.

Troy gazed at Tom. He had a point with his comment. He wasn't one hundred percent positive how Seifer would react especially with his overprotective nature over Estrella. The mad man might take his frustrations out on him if he realized that he didn't do enough to stop the "supposed" ambush.

"You don't have to worry about that. It's a risk worth taking." Troy touched his injured hip and nose. The ambush idea would work. Troy received enough of a beating from Estrella to make the story believable that both of them were ambushed.

"You should go Tom. You can't be seen." Troy ordered with some urgency. He didn't know where Seifer was at the moment, but he could not let his comrade be spotted. It would spoil his idea.

For one last time, Tom looked back at Estrella because he wasn't sure what they did was right. He did not argue against Troy's order though. He was the leader and as a soldier he was required to follow orders. Then, hesitantly, he walked away from the scene to head back to the mother base.

Troy walked over to the unconscious Estrella. His finger pressed a button on the walky to contact Seifer. It was time to go into the next phase. Beginning his acting, he lowered his voice to one of panic. He wanted the ambush of Estrella and himself to be as believable as possible.

"Commander Seifer..come in Commander Seifer.." He released the button to wait on a response.

Seifer took several crystals from inside the base and placed them in his trench coat's inner pocket. There were bodies of fallen rebels around him on the floor. His gunblade dripped of blood and an arrogant smirk spread across his lips. It was no mystery that he was the one who caused the gruesome scene around him.

The rebels were in the way of the mission. The crystals were the primary objective to the field test. Those who tried to stop him were dealt with. Since he had the crystals in his possession, the field test was a success. The last step that remained was him returning the military vehicles with Estrella and the chicken wuss.

"Estrella is going to be happy." He exhaled profoundly when he felt the rush of arrogance flowing through his veins from how easily he was able to succeed in the mission. The commander pictured his wife smiling at the completion of the mission. He imagined her calling him the best while teasing him that she was better. While she challenged him to be at his best, she supported him too. He remembered how she backed him up and fought with him on the front lines during their younger days. Remaniscing, his fist pounded his chest once because of how proud he was of her. These sappy feelings he sometimes had would never be known by anyone. He was too hardened to admit them, but it was not bothersome to Estrella. It didn't matter to Estrella if he never admitted his deepest feelings. What mattered was that he felt it and often tried to show it by his actions.

He was driven to make all her dreams come true like she did for him the moment she accepted him to be her knight and her husband. He hoped, that by ascending to the top, that she would no longer have to put herself in harm's way or be any where near the chicken wusses that plagued the world. He would give her everything she desired and deserved.

As he stood in the base observing his surroundings and having a slight day dream, he saw his future of ascending to be a top Commander for a powerful organization in reach. All he ever wanted were his dreams to be taken seriously. In his younger days, most instructors saw him as nothing more than a bully and a jokster, but not his Estrella. She saw more in him and stuck by his side no matter how reckless he was. She knew he was as good as he showed off to be. Estrella was that one person who always saw his potential despite his cocky and aggressive nature. With his abilities and her support, he felt unstoppable.

Seifer started to daydream of the possibilities. A playful smirk was seen on his face when his mind wandered to the future. What he saw was his rise to glory. He stood on a platform with his gunblade pointed to the sky. His mind added more vital pieces to the day dream to make it both complete and more enjoyable. The moment the scarred squad leader envisioned Estrella rubbing his chest, to admire his promotion to Commander and in front of a cheering crowd, his walky went off. His day dream was interrupted by a voice he despised.

"What the fuck does he want?" Seifer bluntly said in irritation. He reached for his walky inside his trench coat and placed it close to his mouth. He held the button to make sure his message got through.

"What the fuck do you want Chicken Wuss?" He repeated his rude response.

Troy closed his eyes tightly when Seifer replied with an expected, yet harsh tone. The loud commander hurt his ears. Troy shook his head because of how angry Seifer seemed already. He couldn't imagine how angrier the monster would get once he found out Estrella was badly hurt. Forgetting about his partial deafness, he placed his mouth against the walky again to reply to the barbaric leader.

"S-seifer sorry to bother you, but.." He was cut off.

Seifer put the last crystal in his pocket and walked towards the exit of the room he was in. He stepped over some of the fallen bodies that were in his way.

"I told you not to fucking bother me.." He replied to Troy with a ticked attitude.

It was Troy's turn to interrupt Seifer.

"Unless it was important" He reminded the rash leader.

Seifer stopped at the threshold of the exit from the room where he gathered the crystals.

"What is it then?" He questioned with a rough tone. He wasn't sure if Troy ever had anything important to say.

Troy gulped because it was the moment of truth. He hesitated before talking, but pushed himself to do it.

"W-we were ambushed." He wanted to make himself sound as beaten up as possible.

Seifer's volcanic-like veins turned to ice the second he heard the word ambush because Estrella was with Troy which meant she was ambushed too. They were ambushed, but how? How was it possible? His instinctive reaction was to find out where Estrella was and if she was okay.

"Where is Estrella? What the fuck did you do Chicken Wuss?" He asked as if he were blaming Troy for the incident and was hinting at Troy's destruction if Estrella was injured.

Troy responded timidly. He purposely avoided Seifer's question because he liked hearing Seifer suffer. The poor guy already sounded like he was breaking apart.

"I-I didn't do..anything."

Seifer's hand grasped the threshold of the door when Troy mentioned he didn't do anything. Seifer's knees went weak thinking the worst had happened. He felt his heart begin to pound with dread because he could not hear Estrella in the background when Troy spoke. Knowing Estrella, she would want to speak with him at all costs especially if she was in danger. The answer he waited for was with held by Troy. Once again, he asked the question he wanted the answer to except this time it was with relentless aggression.

"Where is Estrella? TELL ME NOW!" He shouted into the receiver of the walky. He no longer cared for Troy's safety.

Troy crouched down to Estrella and lifted her head to place her mouth against the walky.

"S-she fought as hard as she could. W-we both did. Oh.. she is hurt b-badly Seifer, b..but I'll let you talk to her." Troy tried to play the victim.

Seifer began heaving uncontrollably as he stumbled towards the exit of the base. He was searching for answers as to how he could have miscalculated. His hand gripped the thresh hold of another nearby door in the hallway to keep himself from losing all control of himself. There were no rebel soldiers in the area for Estrella and Troy to have been ambushed by because he defeated them. A part of him didn't believe Troy that they were ambushed. It was impossible. He wanted to hear Estrella's voice because she was the only person he trusted.

"Put her on the walky right now." Seifer's tone was dark and menacing.

Troy shook Estrella to wake her and whispered into her ear once she was able to hear him.

"Time to do your part princess. Let the Knight know the truth." He snickered with enthusiasm.

Estrella, who was beaten and unconscious, was shook to wake up. She had difficulty waking up with her injuries, but knew what the situation was. Even being out cold, she was able to understand what was happening. Troy had told Seifer that they were ambushed. Her eyes opened as wide as they could. With her swollen cheeks, she was only able to open her eyes halfway.

"Now, now don't do anything stupid. You know what's at stake." Troy pressed the walky to her mouth and reminded her not to reveal what truly happened.

Her eyes glared at Troy with hatred. She wanted to strangle Troy for what he had done. When she was reminded of Troy's threat, she let her love guide her to what was right. Her love for her husband was uncontested by anything in the world.

"S-seifer.."

Seifer rose to his full height when he heard Estrella's voice. She sounded like she was in bad shape.

"Estrella! Are you okay?" He shouted into the receiver with passionate worry. His hand clenched the walky tightly nearly cracking it in the process with how enraged he was. With every word she spoke with her gentle voice, he was that much closer to losing it. Gritting his teeth, he wanted to spill blood.

It killed her on the inside with how worried Seifer was for her. His voice's tone told it all. She wanted to say she was okay, but Troy's watched her every move.

"T-troy's right. W-we were...ambushed." She whispered weakly to avoid further conflict. Her raging eyes never left Troy who enjoyed every second of it.

When he heard that Estrella was ambushed, his temper flared. He lost his cool and slammed his fist into the wall breaking a hole into it on impact. Who would attack her? Who would even dare?

"Stay where you are! I'm going now!" He ordered comfortingly and exploded down the hallway. Taking out his phone, he found her location by using the tracking device that was placed in her phone for safety precautions. The tacker on her phone notified him that she was a mile away and at the foot of the hill from his current location.

Once Seifer had the information he needed to find Estrella, he chucked the walky violently into the wall shattering it into millions of little pieces. He then sprinted out the base with a blitzing fury to get to her.

"Y-your such a fool. I-I can't s-stop him now if he wants to kill you..which...I hope he does." Estrella coughed weakly after she told Seifer they were ambushed. She covered her eyes with her arm because of how dreadful the scene would become once Seifer arrived. She was embarrassed. She was embarrassed because she was tricked into giving into Troy's threat. He used her as a way to manipulate her husband because Seifer was not as easily fooled by Troy's outward appearance. Her being used as Seifer's weakness stabbed her pride like a knife going through her heart. It was worse for a woman like her. She never wanted to be anyone's weakness. What she desired was to be respected as a warrior and one who was worthy to be a part of Limitless. She did everything to prove herself during the field exam. Until Troy's betrayal, she showed her skill on the battlefield with her expertise archery and unmatched ability with white magic. Even with her skills, she wondered if it was enough. The Limitless higher ups would no doubt see her as a powerful necessity with her white magic, but would they also see her as a weakness to one of the most prized squad leaders to ever grace their presence? Would Seifer ever let her out of his sight again? Would he be able to let her fight alongside other soldiers including himself? If he was overprotective before, it would only escalate after this tragedy. He saw himself as her knight and the one who had to take care of her. This supposed ambush on her would drive him mad. She was sure of it.

She scoffed at her thoughts because Seifer would no doubt keep a close eye and grip on her. When she looked over at the perpetrator behind her current suffering, she clenched her fist that rested alongside her body. Troy enjoyed every second of her pain which made her heart burn with hatred. Not only would Seifer overreact, but she had no idea how far her husband would go for her. He was probably consumed by worry and rage. She was worried too for Seifer's future. His rage was like a wildfire. Once it spread, it was impossible to put out. With her vulnerable appearance and Seifer's volcanic tendencies, it was a deadly combination especially for Troy's sake. He was playing with fire and would for certain end up burned. This meant Troy could be killed if Seifer felt like he was too blame for her getting hurt. A part of her wished Seifer would murder the weasel brutally for what he had done to her, yet she knew that failing the field test would make all their hard work be for nothing. They would fail if Troy was killed by Seifer's hands. Unfortunately, her fear that Troy may hurt her husband clouded her judgement that her husband could take care of himself. Her mind was littered with stresses that drained her energy and caused her to feel tired. She would have no control over what would happen once Seifer arrived. Eventually, her battered physical and mental state had her slip into unconsciousness She could no longer feel the pain of betrayal that hurt her soul.

Troy let Estrella lay in peace while he waited for the scarred barbarian to arrive. He expected the scene to get ugly especially when the squad leader's most precious possession was injured. A smirk framed his face because he liked his handy work. It was against his nature to go against his rebel beliefs of beating women, but Estrella was hurt for strategic purposes. He was prepared for whatever hell he may receive for his crime of touching the untouchable. Him, hurting Estrella for the bigger cause, was worth it. For his rebel cause, he would do anything including kill if necessary.

Seifer ran at a blitzing speed out of the base. It was as if he was shot out of a canon literally. His green eyes were set on where he had to go. He jumped over a log like it was a hurdle on a race track. Once he cleared the log, he landed harshly and ignored any pains he may have had coming from his ligaments. He sprinted at full speed down the rugged terrain of the hill. With a hill such as the one he climbed to get to the base, one slip could mean disaster. He didn't care. His legs pumped with his arms showing how intense he was to getting to Estrella. His mind was set on one thing which was getting to his girl in need. The surroundings whizzed by in a blur as his heart raced to match the emotions he had running through him. With his gunblade in hand, it thrust upward along with his driving arms. The gunblade was like a natural extension of him because it mimicked his movements.

There was a wounded soldier who heard someone scurrying. He saw that it was the scarred maniac that attacked them. Before he could pull out his gun, his arm was slashed cleanly off.

"Get the fuck out of my way!" Seifer shouted with rage as he instinctively slashed the soldier's arm off who tried to stop him. He passed the dismembered soldier unconcerned to finish him off. He did not even stop to take a second glance as to who he was attacking. After slashing the soldier out of his way, he continued to sprint down the hill towards his destination. The fact that he slashed the man without remorse showed how second nature it was to him. If anyone got in his way, they would pay the price.

The driven Seifer hopped over obstacles such as rocks and fallen logs. He swerved through the trees with agility not usually seen in a big man like him. The soldiers that ambushed Estrella walked up the hill towards the base to call for back up. The six of them caught sight of Seifer and ducked into the bushes to avoid conflict. While they were not afraid of fighting Seifer, they could not shoot him at the pace he was traveling. They watched from a distance as Seifer sped by them through the woods with a fury like they had never seen before. His need and passion to get to the fallen woman was admirable.

Tom held his breath when he saw Seifer's distraught face. The man's heart was at the brink of shattering, and Tom was responsible for it. Tom too had a family and could only sympathize with the Limitless squad leader. While they were on different sides, his opinion on attacking women and family members remained the same. He hated what they had done to another's loved one. The scarred bastard may have murdered his comrades, but soldiers were made to follow orders. He knew this and respected it. Despite most of his comrades getting slaughtered by the scarred mad man, he too killed countless Limitless soldiers. At the end of the day, he believed the loved ones needed to be left out.

The woman he was with was also a soldier that wished to destroy the rebels, but he could tell that her hatred was of humanity as a whole. When she choked him out of desperation, he felt how shaky her hands were which indicated she hadn't killed anyone before. He was a veteran soldier who remembered his first kill and how scared he was. When he finally was free from her grasp, she continued to fight against all odds. Her innocence had been shattered by years of neglect. A part of him felt responsible for further proving the woman's point. The way she reacted to Troy's betrayal was proof of why she disliked people.

Seifer groaned in the attempt to relieve his frantic heart. He was closing in on Estrella because he could see Troy standing alongside her. He pushed himself to the brink to get to her as fast as he could.

"Estrella!" His masculine voice cracked from the painful emotions that ran through him. Once he was close to reaching her, he slid on his knees to a halt alongside her. He dropped his beloved gunblade in the process showing how the only thing he cared about was her. His hand rested on her stomach while his eyes scanned her bruised body. He saw the tearing of her clothes, her swollen cheeks, and the dried blood on her skin. It was enough to make him lose his mind.

Seeing Estrella's laying body in a beaten state, his eyes filled with tears of sadness and rage. He wanted to destroy everything and show the rebels why he was the uncontrollable mad man.

Troy's mouth opened when he saw Seifer's emotional state. He did not think that the psychotic would react in such a manner. Seeing the large leader skid to his knees for Estrella, alerted to him that perhaps he pushed Seifer over the edge.

"I-I am sorry Seifer. I tried...to protect her as best as I could." He was enjoying the hectic situation, but Seifer's unpredictable nature made it worrisome too.

He was about to shed a tear until he heard Troy speak. His teeth grit like a psycopath knowing whose fault it was exactly. Clutching his gunblade, he wildly swung at Troy not caring if it hit or not. He was hoping the blade cut the freak in half. He was too concerned over Estrella to seen if Troy was in two pieces.

"Stay away from her! You're a FUCKING useless piece of trash! " He shrilled with hatred.

After shouting his hatred, he went back to worrying about Estrella. She needed to be tended to first before he acted on his need to torture and murder Troy. He dropped his gunblade and brought his attention to her. The hand he rested on her stomach slid up to her face. He stroked her cheek gently. She groaned when he touched her cheek, and it tormented his soul. He tried his best not to let her hear the anguish in his heart. Seeing that she was alive, he had to get her back to the transport vehicle so she could get help.

Troy shrieked and fell over when Seifer swung at him viciously with his gunblade. If Troy had not moved, he would have killed.

There were gun sounds that shot in the distance. Seifer's head turn towards the base he had infiltrated. He could not see it from the foot of the hill where he was, but he was certain it was where the gunshots were coming from. It was obvious what it meant. The rebels were sending reinforcements. He had no time to think about killing them all for what they had done. For his sake, he contained his rage to save the one person who mattered to him. His wife needed medical attention, and there was nothing that would stop him.

Seifer acted on instinct. He placed his gunblade within his long coat. Lowering himself closer to Estrella, he rested his lips devotedly against her temple.

"Stay with me." He whispered tenderly into her cheek. Not wasting any time, he scooped Estrella's light frame into his arms and began running towards the transport vehicle that was a mile away.

Troy trailed behind Seifer as he carried the unconscious Estrella. He kept his distance. As if on cue, his rebel soldiers had interrupted the tragic lover's scene. Momentarily, the interruption had given Troy some time to think of an excuse to give Seifer who was on the verge of killing him. There was nothing holding Seifer back from tearing him limb by limb. Despite Troy walking on fire literally, he secretly got a thrill at Seifer's suffering.

Seifer jogged at a steady pace to avoid hurting Estrella further. She felt fragile in his arms as if one false move could...He couldn't think of it. He refused too. He was not used to seeing her helpless because he prided himself on keeping her safe. The pain in his heart was beyond what words could describe. Struggling with his daunting anguish, he kept it together.

While unconscious, she heard heavy panting and felt her body shake as if she were being moved. The gunshots in the background startled her internal defenses. Her eyes flickered open. The first thing she noticed was that she was being carried. Seifer was running as fast as he could with her in his arms. When she looked into his eyes, she saw how the madness that consumed him. He was determined to save her and hunt down the men who ambushed her.

She could no longer bare it. Troy may have won the battle, but he did not win the war. She refused to be seen as the weak link in the group. Even in her bad condition, she would not be carried back to the vehicle. Her pride would not be crushed further.

"Put me down Seifer..." Her voice whispered weakly. She stared at him with devotion in her eyes.

Seifer stopped for a brief moment when he heard Estrella's voice. He was relieved to see that she was responsive. At the same time, one look of her face reminded him of what had been done to her.

"Estrella..." He whispered her name loyally. He went to stroke her cheek. When he touched her cheek, her face jerked from the pain. He grit his teeth at the reaction. She couldn't even be touched. Trying to remain calm, he spoke through his heavy breathing of both rage and worry. His answer was definitive.

"No, your hurt Estrella. You can't even stand." He responded bluntly.

"Please..just put me down...for me" She repeated and this time with more conviction. Her voice went into an irresistible plea when she whispered "for me."

Seifer exhaled profoundly at her request. Seeing the passionate look in her eyes, he reluctantly placed her feet on the ground. His arm went around her waist to give her support. Slowly, he started to move forward which allowed her to dictate the pace. He never took his eyes off of her. Inwardly, he admired her strength.

Once she was placed on the ground, her arm wrapped around Seifer's shoulder. She used his body as a crutch and began to limp forward. Her walk was a steady pace despite the limp caused by the contusions all over her body. The gunfire in the background did not bother her because her mind was consumed with the injuries she received. Her white magic had given healed her enough to be conscious, but it did not heal her enough. She was in terrible pain. The soreness caused her to gasp or whimper during her walk. Even with the pain she endured, she continued on. Her eyes were focused on the finish line.

Seifer suffered with the noises she made. He wanted to go against her demand and ease her walk by carrying her. Having too much respect for her, he supported her towards the vehicle in hopes that they would arrive soon.

Troy was astonished at Estrella's new found determination. What was her drift? Staying behind them, he kept silent to avoid further conflict. He kept close to them to make sure Estrella did not do anything that she may regret later on. Her limping was admirable even though he was the one who caused it. He assumed it was because she was trying to ensure her spot on Limitless. Unfortunately, this would be her last display of bravery since she already agreed to his terms.

{She is one tough cookie, but one that will crumble eventually.} He thought arrogantly to himself.

Seifer guided Estrella to the transport vehicle that she felt was in the distance. She limped and hopped the best she could with his support. Her effort could be heard with soft gasps and gentle squeaks that unknowingly sounded from her mouth. The twigs and random objects on the forest floor made it tougher, yet she managed to overcome those obstacles even with the pain she was in. Her thrashed body was sore beyond anything she ever felt before, but still she continued to walk with Seifer's aid. Her vision was blurred, therefore, she was unable to see that they were almost to the transport. With her focus on her destination, she did not see how Seifer studied her and did not hear the gun shots that were fired behind them. It was all drowned out by her determination.

The scarred squad leader walked at a hurried pace and kept his eye on Estrella. Internally, he admired her strength. This did not mean he was satisfied with her walking. He regretted listening to her request though. It would have been easier and less torturous for him if he carried her. The gasps and squeaks of pain did not help either. She struggled and it tore at his flaming insides. He wanted to find the bastards who had done this to her. In the meantime, his attention was on her and getting her to a transport vehicle where she would get medical attention. He supported Estrella with his arm around her waist. Her light frame was easy to support.

"We are almost there." He said encouragingly. Behind him, he heard the gunshots that sounded from the rebels who were closing in. The intense rage in him wanted to turn around and destroy them all. They had completed the mission successfully, and there was no need for him to turn around. This mission was a success until the rebels decided to ambush his wife. He had a new mission now. His new conquest would be to find those who attacked what was his and make them suffer a painful, miserable death. He still did not know the truth of what happened, and he tried not to think about it either with Estrella nearby. It would only drive him mad at the thought of several men jumping a woman. The last thing she needed was more stress. She no longer had to worry about anything because he would take care of everything.

Troy trailed behind. Seifer paid no attention to him for the time being. He figured the squad leader was too worried about Estrella getting to the transport. He did not want to put himself in Seifer's line of vision because right now he tread on thin ice. Seifer no doubt thought it was his fault. While it was completely Troy's fault, Seifer did not know that. What Troy did not predict was that the Limitless higher ups already suspected his plan. They were watching in the comfort of their offices and had seen what occurred. How else would they know who did what ? For right now, Troy assumed he was close to infiltrating Limitless.

There were two men in a dark, office-like room. There faces were hidden. Throughout the entire mission, they watched the new recruits to see what they were capable of. It seemed there was a promising class this year. They watched the projector screen of Seifer and Estrella. Their stares fell upon Troy.

"It looks like we have a traitorous spy in the mist." The man said calmly and with little concern for it.

The second man grabbed his glass of wine and sipped it.

"The spy we will keep a secret for now. I want to see what that future commander of ours will do. This is all part of the training. I want to see if those two can discover that he is a spy." The second man rested his elbow on the table.

"She is in a tough spot, and I would like to see how she handles it. It's perfect." He admitted because the girl was put in a position that required her to lie to her husband for the sake of keeping him alive.

"That white magic user is tougher than she looks. She will be such a useful tool in our organization with that rare power of hers." The first man replied with excitement. He imagined his troops being healed and him paying less for soldiers because of her. It was not just her he was interested in though. He rose to his feet and pointed at Seifer with his finger who he was even more impressed with.

"Oh, this mad man will be such an addition to have. I've read his profile. He is a former Balamb Garden student, an expert gunblade wielder and combatant, and he has such a mean streak. His reputation is exactly how he is....dirty. He is the best candidate for that Commander position we have been looking to fill. I could just imagine the fear we would send to opposing rebels with this man. Did you see how he handled the rebels...effortlessly. The woman is a nice touch too. It seems like people like to attack her to get to Seifer Almasy, but what they are really doing is unleashing the wild beast from its cage. We've never had something like this before." He was thrilled at the possibilities.

The second man chuckled at his partner.

"You're right. The rose packs more prickle than one would think. Estrella's healing abilities certainly make that future Commander of ours almost unbeatable. She's dangerous with a long bow too. Her accuracy is the best we've seen. Its ying and yang at its finest." He smirked because the peaceful part of ying and yang was more dangerous than one would predict.

The first man smiled.

"Let's just see how this plays out." He then placed his eyes back on the screen where he saw an angered Seifer stopping in front of the transport vehicle they reached.
