Light seemed to be breaking across the sky as dawn finally emerged, making its presence known to Gohan who had been spending the previous night training. Like normal, he had chosen to distance himself from his home in order to do his power training. Put simply, this was done so he wouldn't be tempted by the luxuries of the past that could be offered to him if he gave in to temptation. Not that he guessed he would fall into the bad habits or shirk on his training, but instead Gohan chose to avoid the risks altogether by making sure he was nowhere near the comfort and safety of his family home that he had wanted for so long. While it may had been pretty nice to just relax, Gohan didn't have the time for that. He had a goal that he was determined to achieve. He would save the future and it's people no matter how much he had to throw himself at the enemy, no matter how far on the brink of death they would push him, no matter what he would have to sacrifice. He refused to let history repeat himself and refused to just stand by and watch even more. He would change the future for the better and make a world where people could finally live in safety and happiness. This was Gohan's dream and nothing would deter the saiyan from making it his reality. He would either keep fighting until he lived to see the end of this war or die a martyr of his own conviction for his world. The Saiyan wasn't in the future for a vacation or for personal time. Originally he had came looking for his student who had came here in order to try rectifying some error in the past with hopes of repairing their time. However, Gohan had soon learned just how bad the situation of the world truly was. It was not necessarily something he was proud of but he couldn't just stand by and be useless while there were warriors in this time who would need his help. In his heart, Gohan was a true fighter and a fighter never backed down from the call to save others who could not defend themselves. In many ways, the two times weren't as vastly different as Gohan had once thought they would be though, despite some dramatic changes. To start, when Gohan's father had succumbed to the heart virus, the task of defending the earth and all it's people was given to Gohan instead who had to throw away his childhood and become a man at such an early age. Without the other z-fighters, the weight of the world was his to bear on his shoulders. Unlike the time they're in now, Gohan had no help for the longest time. He could only watch in horror as women would cling to their children, crying out in fear of the two androids that were working on not only wiping out the defenders of earth but all of it's human inhabitants as well. To put it bluntly, all the pair wanted was genocide on the human race, seeing them as an inferior species in comparison and therefore deeming them unfit to live on their planet. It was a horrible time filled with pain, loss, and sorrow as none would be shown mercy by the unfeeling machines that hated all organic life. But thanks to Gohan's pupil, things had finally changed. Now in the past, the destructive duo were no more than faint memories as far as Gohan knew. Children could laugh and play to their hearts content without having to wonder if it would be their city that was next to be wiped out clean. Goku had no longer succumbed to his heart virus, meaning he would be around for a long time to defend the earth instead of forcing the weight onto the young Gohan's shoulders. As well as that, brave warriors were being born with each passing day with incredible power that not only rivaled the man who trained all his life but even surpassed it by quite a bit. This news wasn't disheartening for Gohan to hear though as the others served as an inspiration to him to increase his strength, a bit of a competition in Gohan's mind. Perhaps it wasn't the most mature way to consider it, but Gohan couldn't just be serious every minute of his life. He was mortal and he needed a little bit of joy every now and then too. However, not everything was as nice and wonderful as he had once originally thought upon coming to the past. There was a new threat that seemed to replace the two androids who would seek to ruin the earth so selfishly for little reason. Likewise, this new threat seemed intent on claiming territory as well as wiping out any humans that tried to resist their forces. They wanted to wipe out humanity much like the other androids, but these guys were definitely different. They were cold, calculating, sadistic and completely numb to reason. They had a more militaristic way to themselves as compared to the carefree nature of the androids that Gohan spent the better part of his life fighting. They had goals and they would see them realized no matter how many people would be trampled beneath their feet. They were sickening for Gohan to think about. Out of seemingly nowhere, they had appeared in this past timeline and were trying to capture Gohan's mother for some special strength she must had possessed. Gohan had no intention of letting this happen, at least not while he was alive to fight against it. But that was not the only threat he had to worry about now. As well as that, now the Red Ribbon army was a serious presence as well. While in the future they were wiped out utterly by their own creations, in this timeline they had somehow managed to regrow and become a serious military threat. The creators of the machines that had caused so much pain for Gohan was back and he would not stand for it. The ribbons were monsters unfit for the life they so easily take for granted and Gohan made sure to tell himself each day that they would pay for their mistakes. If it wasn't going to be his own hand wrapping around the neck of the beast, squeezing the life out of it, it would be someone else just as determined. Gohan had never actually taken the idea of traveling through time seriously, even when Bulma had first suggested it to him. This was because he had decided something right at that moment. If time travel did exist, they would had vanished from existence at the very second they came up with such a thought. Changing the events of the past would mean that they no longer existed and they would have been wiped clean from history altogether. However, this was obviously not the case. Still alive, Gohan had came to three conclusions right there. The first being that if they had not all vanished, the idea to travel through time would not had worked and in reality they had just wasted a good chunk of time trying to fix things pointlessly while city by city faced annihilation with each passing day. Gohan didn't want to have to blame himself if the plan had failed entirely and nothing they did mattered. The second possibility was that they would all die before they would get the chance to right the wrongs of the past, essentially meaning earth would be doomed and the attempt to try building the time machine was still just as pointless. The third and final reason would be that changing the past would somehow have no effect on the future and that no matter what events were changed in the past, the future would always come to somehow have this very same outcome. The thought of the last one was something that horrified him. It wasn't as if he believed fate would be so cruel, but the possibility remained all the same. He could only pray that it wouldn't end up coming to that. But he was wrong though. Trunks, the one he trained, had managed to travel to the past after all and saved this time from a world without Goku in it. The Z-fighters survived their conflict against the androids and probably even more threats that had appeared afterwards. While traveling through time had certainly worked, what did this mean for the future? Did anything he would do in the past even mattered in the first place? So many questions puzzled the saiyan who was hunched over a little, sitting on a stump as he tried to cool off from his workout. Every muscle he had felt pretty sore or strained and it was clear that Gohan had worked himself hard in order to see some progress from his workout. The problem with that is how bad it would hurt after he did, but it was a good pain that Gohan had long since grown used to. Standing up, Gohan rolled his shoulders for a few moments before going to reach down and grab his pack, slinging it up over his shoulder. His upper body was left revealed bare as he had his Gi top as well as the undershirt. During his intense training, he had to take it off in order to cool down despite the fact it was during the cold night on a mountain of all places. His steps were slow and he was huffing as he moved, showing just how worked he really was. Right now the only thing he wanted to do was head home, have a nice hot bath to relax his muscles in, and then go to sleep for a few days. He was ragged and tired with a severe need to rest his body after all the treatment he'd gotten from the last few days. Though on his way home, he came to an abrupt stop. His ears twitched a bit as he stared forward, listening closely to the environment around him. Something seemed to be off right now and it was messing with Gohan. Only a few moments ago, the birds had been chirping away happily before coming to a rather abrupt halt and flying off from the tree like. It wouldn't had been that strange for Gohan normally, but it was the amount of birds. The size seemed to be large, probably an entire flock that has mysteriously abandoned their resting spot for seemingly no reason. That could only mean there was some sort of predator nearby. But as far as he could tell, the predator hadn't been aiming to capture the birds at all. The leaves were rustling as a few twigs broke under something's weight before suddenly stopping. Then everything went quiet again as the light began to shine down on the saiyan through the crowded woods. Looking around for a few seconds, Gohan grunted before starting to walk again. Then out of nowhere, Gohan saw a sudden kick come at his midsection. He wasted no time in moving his hand down to grab the leg by the heel, going to turn his body to swing the attacker into a tree and seemed to broke through the wood entirely. As the tree fell over away from Gohan, the attacker managed to squirm free of Gohan's grip and made his way up to his feet. Now Gohan could see the assassin more properly as he revealed himself, Gohan glaring a bit at what he saw. The man was wearing a uniform familiar to Gohan, matching the same kind those androids of the future had been wearing when they were about to try executing that family. Put simply, the man was obviously unfeeling. It was obvious from his face that he didn't care that Gohan had taken away the androids advantage and instead turned it into an attack on the synthetic creature. Instead, he kept a cold gaze focused on Gohan, not showing really any emotion that made him appear a little bit tired. Gohan turned away from the android, starting to walk towards his house again but keeping his eyes on the synthetic. Likewise, the android followed in the same manner with his eyes on Gohan. Some marks that resembled bruising was seen across the android's face, appearing obvious to the saiyan. Chances were it was from slamming him into the tree as the bruising looked rather fresh on his skin. What that meant was despite the tough guy act the robot was trying to put up, Gohan could hurt this guy and he could hurt him bad if he didn't seem to possess any real skill when it came to fighting. But first, he would find out just what this android creep was doing on his land where he shouldn't had been. "So. Rather strange place to be going for a morning jog, don't you think? We don't really get much visitors up on Mount Paozu. I assume you're aware of that, aren't you?" Gohan started speaking as he figured he would start casual to try loosening the man up. Though it didn't seem to have much affect as they both still walked with their bodies still tense, Gohan because of his soreness bugging him while the other man just seemed to be a pretty strict guy. "I figured it would make it easier to end you. Nobody around to step in on our fight. Only you and I. Though I figured I would've gotten the advantage on you back there. How did you see me?" The android responded in a low, gruff voice. For an android assassin, it seemed he wasn't completely against the idea of conversation. Despite his cold nature, he wouldn't seem like too bad a guy in another situation. He'd only look pretty antisocial around a bunch of lively people. "I didn't." He answered simply before going to continue. "You weren't cautious enough. I heard you sneaking around. The thing about nature is that it doesn't work with you. You have to work with it. But a machine like you could never hope to accomplish that. You don't respect how nature works. You slaughter its creatures, destroy its land and try to replace it with your deranged sense of order. That's why it chose to aide me and I turn I plan to help it." Gohan said to the android as the two walked forward towards an open clearing. A golden aura was building around the saiyan before a transformation quickly occurred, his hair turning blonde and spiking up while his eyes turned green in color. His transformation into a super saiyan had been successful and far more stable than it was during his previous attempts. The android watched with a bit of surprise but he didn't seem very impressed. "You think nature really is that strong huh? Then what does it mean if I do this?" the android said before rushing forward, going to smack a bird out of the air before it could really take off away from him. Gohan stared as the thing came flying his way, landing at the saiyan's feet. It was only a matter of moments before the bird began flapping it's left wing in panic, obviously too hurt to take off. Blood trickled through the feathers as it seemed as if it would absolutely perish if Gohan didn't act fast. He had no reason why anyone would do such a thing to a poor bird, but he knew he had to do something. Reaching down, he took the poor bird into his hand, his thumb curling on top of the creature as he began to focus. A light began to glow from his hand as he gritted his teeth a bit before the light faded, Gohan letting out a light sight of relief. He lifted up his hand, uncovering the healed bird as it flew off now without worry. The two of them stood there, watching it leave as Gohan kept his gaze on it, the android on the other hand seeming rather annoyed by the sight because of how he was trying to prove Gohan's philosophy wrong. ![]() "Neat trick. You healed a bird. So what? It's not like it'll make your chances of beating me any higher. I'm an android assassin and you're just some wuss who is missing an arm. Maybe I should handicap myself in order to make this fair for you." the android taunted, his emotionless expression slowly turning one of great anger. It was obvious he held some sort of dislike for Gohan, though the saiyan wouldn't know how deep the hatred actually ran through the man. "You might as well just make this simple for the both of us and dig your own grave. At least then you'd have something good going on for you." "I don't think I see that happening anytime soon. I'd much rather beat the hell of of you until you're not much more than scrap metal and wires." Gohan replied as he cracked his neck. He had his own hatred behind him as he stared to the android. This machine that stood before him was part of the reason his life had been so bad in the first place. He hated the thing and wanted nothing more than to smash it until there was nothing left, but for now he was holding back his rage. He was sore and he wanted every second he had before he started wailing on the machine before him. Besides that, Gohan wanted a second to himself after having transformed. This was the first time he had actually managed to hold the transformation ever since he had been revived in the future. The power actually felt pretty good for Gohan to capture. He was enjoying the strength that came with it, that was for sure. It was a strength he had relied on so much in the future that it almost seemed ridiculous not to use it when he could. But now he finally had retrieved his power and he was going to make sure the android felt the bulk of it. Wasting no more time, the android lunged forward to try swinging his fist at Gohan's face. Gohan watched as the attack came, ducking under the strike before going to slam his own fist into the android's stomach, sending him reeling back in quite a bit of pain. Gohan obviously wasn't playing around here. He wanted to do more than just defeat the android. He wanted to hurt the thing bad for everything it stood for and everything it would probably do. As far as Gohan was concerned, all androids were evil and had no place being in the world. The android then moved towards Gohan, seeming like he was going to throw an uppercut before stopping it short of Gohan's face and blasting him up into the air, then moving to pounce on Gohan from above. From there, he wrapped his arms tightly around Gohan before going to slam both of them headfirst into the ground like a missile. Standing up from the small crater he had made, the android smirked as he looked to Gohan, sure that he must had rendered him unconscious at least. But then a hand came up the second the two's gazes were on one another, gripping the android's throat tightly as the saiyan's fingers begun tightening around the synthetic skin, trying to choke the life out of him. Getting to his feet, Gohan raised to his feet as he held the struggling android in his grasp. It was obvious that right now the bot wanted freedom from Gohan's firm grip, but the saiyan had no intention of releasing him yet. He took a second to raise him up higher before slamming him into the ground, repeating the move two more times for good measure before tossing the synthetic up into the air. Extending his arm out completely, he aimed his hand to the sky where the assassin began to fall before narrowing his eyes and firing a rather strong wave of concentrated Ki. The only thing Gohan expected was for the android to be wiped from existence entirely, but it seemed this was not the case as the robot fell down after Gohan had ceased the blast. Naturally, this stirred quite a bit of annoyance within him as the sight of the robot was troubling enough, but the fact he still could have been alive after all of that was the most perplexing. Moving forward, he made quick strides to get to where the robot had crashed, intending to finish him off. When he was only within a few feet, he could clearly see just how much damage he had really achieved with his strike. Wires and metal tendons sticking out, one of the legs bent harshly beyond where it should have, and the right arm missing altogether. It was a bit ironic but that fact seemed to be wasted on Gohan who moved over to place his boot on top of the androids head, twisting it a bit to test if the machine was listening. Within a few moments, a light grunting was heard as Gohan gritted his teeth. "Listen here bastard. I don't know your name and frankly I don't give a damn. All you fucking androids are just numbers to me. You're going to be number five in my mind. The fifth evil machine I've gotten to kill. I don't know what you want with my mother but if you so much as try to place your hands on her, I will see to it the next number I announce is in the thousands." He shouted, making himself clear to the bot before going to lift up his boot. Although things turned a bit dark from there as he gave the head a rather brutal stomped followed by another and another, repeating until Gohan finally gave one last stomp and crushed the already heavily damaged head completely under his boot. There was nothing that brought more relief to his pent up aggression that to have just released his anger onto the synthetic. It had been his goal for so long that he almost forgot about how it was to fear them instead. But that was a long time ago and such weak feelings have long since faded from Gohan's mind. Now he only wanted to be the one to see to their complete destruction. "Idiot..." Gohan muttered before going to pull his bloody boot away now, turning away from the scene and walking back towards his home. Letting out a quick sigh, he closed his eyes and began to let his power return to its base state. His lovely shining hair reverted back to it's dark black color and his eyes did the same. He felt considerably more relaxed now that he had done that, but it wouldn't last long as he felt an arm suddenly grab his shoulder, pulling him to face a new threat who sucker punched him in the gut and then managed to deliver another to his cheek. Staggering back in confusion and pain, Gohan glared as he looked to the group of androids gathered around him, numbered at about four or five from what he could see. "Good job killing our sergeant. Now I can get a promotion after I bring in your head." The one who delivered the strikes said with a devilish smirk. This had been his plan all along. The others were waiting for Gohan to lower his guard after removing the person in the way of them getting their promotions so that they would have an advantaged. Something so underhanded sickened Gohan to where he almost couldn't believe they had done that. But what should he had expected? They were androids after all and they obviously didn't recognize loyalty because they were just flawed machines. The group began nearing Gohan from all sides of his front. He knew he wasn't going to be leaving here without giving a fight. Growling, he aimed his arm to the far right, firing a Ki wave at two androids to try getting rid of them as soon as he could. While one was caught in the blast and killed, the other seemed to have dodged just in time and was now heading to Gohan at full speed. As soon as he was near, he tried to send a flying knee to Gohan's abdomen. Gohan however moved to the side, his hand lifting up to grab the android by his face and throw him at one on the far left. As they two collided, Gohan flew up and formed a green orb in his hands before tossing it down at the two, a large explosion resulting from the impact as a crater was now the only thing there where the two had been standing. The ground shook lightly and Gohan had assumed it was from the force of his attack. He didn't have any time to feel good about his success as an android appeared overhead and smashed him into the ground. Laying on his back, Gohan was about to stand up before a pair of hands pressed down on Gohan's shoulders to pin him. Gohan didn't know why, but he began to feel weaker for some reason as each moment passed. Then it snapped in his head that his energy was being stolen right now. The saiyan tried to fight against the energy absorber, but he was already so strained that it seemed like an impossible task. The ground shook again as the android moved to kneel over Gohan's chest, keeping a hand planted on the man's arm to hold it down over his head while he used his other hand to begin striking Gohan's face with brutal succession. It wasn't until he had gotten a few strikes in that both Gohan and the android heard a peculiar large roar before a loud crashing followed, some sort of large creature landing in the area where Gohan couldn't see as the android was blocking him. "The fu-" the android was cut off as a large pair of jaws came down, two sets of teeth slamming into the android's neck from both sides before ripping the head clean off. Though it didn't stop there as it dug its teeth into the android's chest and flailed the body around before casting the remains out of it's mouth to the side quite a distance. Gohan was shocked as he pushed himself up to a sitting position, staring at the dragon before him. It seemed instead of becoming a trophy corpse, Gohan would become dragon chow instead. But the dragon didn't seem to make any attempt to attack the saiyan, just sort of standing there with an awesome presence. That's when Gohan began to notice something rather curious about the dragon. The familiar shade of purple, the shape of the head, and those joyful round eyes that stared at him. They were all quite similar to someone he had known from his childhood, making Gohan wonder. It seemed so unlikely that it would be the same one, yet Gohan had to try. "Icarus...?" He said curiously, staring at the dragon as it moved its head down and began nuzzling into Gohan's chest. He let out a light smile as he moved his hand to run along the dragon's head, gently stroking it as he felt quite a bit of joy wash over him. "Wow... You've certainly gotten big buddy. Guess fifteen years will do that, huh?" He said, laughing a little as the dragon let out a light purr from the interaction. Standing up, Gohan could see how large Icarus had really grown now. While he wasn't gigantic, he was at least a thirteen feet tall now. The dragon easily towered over Gohan with it's huge shape, but Gohan didn't seem to worry. The dragon was his best friend as a kid and it seemed even now that friendship had continued without the saiyan knowing. Giving Icarus one last pat on the head, he turned and began walking to the Son home. "Come on Icarus. Let's go home and rest." He said in a tired fashion. Seemed like today had gone pretty well.
